Madubuike Institute of Technology Admission Requirements 2027/2028: Courses and Cut-Off Mark

Ihechukwu Madubuike Institute of Technology (IMIT), Isuochi admits ND candidates with JAMB’s polytechnic minimum of 100. See its four JAMB courses, UTME subjects, O’level rules, what NBTE records show and the alternatives for 2027/2028.

Madubuike Institute of Technology admission requirements for the National Diploma are a UTME score of at least 100, JAMB’s minimum for polytechnics; the right UTME subjects for your course; and five O’level credits including English Language and Mathematics. The school, known as IMIT, is a private polytechnic at Nkwoagu-Amuda, Isuochi, in Umunneochi LGA of Abia State. It has not published its own cut-off mark. JAMB’s list shows four ND courses for it: Business Administration and Management, Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology.

2027/2028 update: IMIT cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Some things about IMIT I could not confirm, and you should know them before you pick it. The latest NBTE record I could read, NBTE’s 2021 directory, gave its five ND programmes interim approval that expired on 1 October 2022. The school’s website now says it holds full five-year NBTE accreditation, with ND and HND courses accredited in 2025, but I found no NBTE document or news report confirming that. I also found no 2026/2027 admission advert, form price, screening date or fee list. Ask the school for its current NBTE accreditation letters before you pay anything.

IMIT is a different institution from Federal Polytechnic, Ngodo-Isuochi (Fed Poly Isuochi), which the Federal Government set up in 2022 in the same area. If you want a federal polytechnic, that is the one to choose on JAMB; see the alternatives further down.

What IMIT is and who runs it

According to its website, IMIT was established in 2020 and approved by the Federal Ministry of Education and NBTE in January 2021. Its first academic session, 2020/2021, began in March 2021, and its first matriculation took place in September 2021. The founder and chairman of its Board of Trustees is Prof. Ihechukwu Chidozie Madubuike, whom the site describes as a former Minister of Education and Minister of Health. The pioneer rector is Dr Benjamin O. Ezeali.

NBTE’s 2021 Directory of Accredited Programmes, dated January 2021, lists “Iheachukwu Madubuike Institute of Technology, Isuochi, Abia State” as a private institution from 2021. A January 2026 list of approved private polytechnics on JAET also includes it. The spelling differs between sources (Ihechukwu, Iheachukwu and, on one website page, Ihechuckwu), but they all refer to the same school.

IMIT courses: JAMB’s list and the school’s list

This is where you need care. JAMB’s course list, as reprinted by Myschool, shows four ND courses. The school’s own website names more, including HND programmes. CAPS can only carry an offer for a course JAMB holds for the school, so JAMB’s list is the one that decides what you can be admitted into through the UTME.

Business Administration and ManagementYesND and HNDND, interim (expired 1 October 2022)

If you want a course from the bottom five rows, ask the school in writing how it admits into it, and check that JAMB lists it for IMIT on the e-brochure or the registration portal before you register. HND admission does not go through the UTME, but it still needs an ND from an accredited programme.

A polytechnic can set a mark above 100, but IMIT has not announced one. So 100 is the legal minimum. These are my own safe targets for a small private polytechnic, with no IMIT data behind them:

CourseLegal minimumMy safe target for 2027

Computer Engineering100130 or more
Computer Science100130 or more

UTME subjects and O’level requirements for IMIT courses

Use of English is compulsory for every candidate, so the brochure lists the other three subjects. These are JAMB’s general polytechnic rules for each course, as reprinted by Myschool. Check the e-brochure for any remark naming IMIT.

CourseUTME subjects besides Use of EnglishO’level credits (five in all)
Business Administration and ManagementMathematics and any two of Geography, Commerce, Government, Principles of Accounts and EconomicsEnglish Language and Mathematics, plus three from Economics or Commerce, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature in English, Geography, Office Practice, Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Physics, History or Government
Computer EngineeringMathematics, Physics, ChemistryMathematics, Physics and Chemistry, plus two from a technical list that includes Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics, Further Mathematics and Geography; a credit in English Language is required
Computer ScienceMathematics and any two of Geography, Physics, Economics or ChemistryMathematics, a basic science and three others; English Language and Physics credits are compulsory
Electrical/Electronics Engineering TechnologyMathematics, Physics, ChemistryMathematics, Physics and Chemistry, plus two from the same technical list as Computer Engineering

Computer Science catches many candidates: Physics is optional in the UTME but compulsory at O’level. Business Studies is not on the brochure list for Business Administration, so do not use it as a UTME subject. Even where English sits on an optional list, get the credit, because IMIT’s admissions page asks for O’level results without naming subjects and almost every Nigerian polytechnic expects English and Mathematics.

How to apply to IMIT, step by step

IMIT’s admissions page says you sit the UTME, choose IMIT on JAMB (or change institution later), then apply on its website with your JAMB admission letter, O’level result and birth certificate, and expect a decision within seven working days. It mentions November and April intakes but gives no 2026/2027 dates or form price.

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register for the UTME with the right subjects: pick IMIT and one of the four JAMB-listed courses. If you chose another school, do a JAMB change of institution.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: at an accredited JAMB centre, once your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out.
  4. Confirm with the school first: ask whether your course is admitting and for its current NBTE accreditation letter.
  5. Apply on the school portal: the admissions page points to portal.imit.edu.ng. Use the same names and results as on your JAMB profile, and keep every receipt.
  6. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  7. Pay acceptance and register: get the amounts in writing and pay only through the channel the school names.

Warning

JAMB treats any admission outside CAPS as illegal. If an IMIT offer does not show on CAPS, it is not a valid admission, whatever a letter or agent says. Pay only through channels the school itself names, and never to an agent.

Alternatives near Isuochi

If IMIT cannot show you current NBTE accreditation for your course, or your course is not on JAMB’s list for it, these public polytechnics in Abia State run similar ND programmes:

Fed Poly Isuochi is the closest option. Its 2026/2027 advert asked for 100 and above in the UTME with a ₦2,000 form, and a February 2025 report named Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Administration and Management, Accountancy, Science Laboratory Technology and Statistics as its NBTE-accredited courses. Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, the former Abia State Polytechnic in Aba, is the state option with a longer course list.

Is Ihechukwu Madubuike Institute of Technology accredited by NBTE? NBTE’s 2021 directory lists it as a private institution and gave its ND programmes interim approval that expired on 1 October 2022.
