The IMT Architectural Technology cut off mark is 100 in the UTME, JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics for 2026/2027. The Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, has not published a separate departmental figure for Architectural Technology, so 100 is the official floor you must reach before IMT will consider you.
2027/2028 update: IMT cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Architectural Technology sits in IMT’s School of Environmental Technology with Building Technology, Quantity Surveying, Estate Management and Valuation, and Urban and Regional Planning. JAMB’s brochure carries one IMT remark for this course, and it helps candidates who did not register Technical Drawing or Chemistry: IMT accepts Geography as a UTME subject. Below you will find the official figures, the 120 that IMT used in 2024, my safe target, the subject and O’level rules, how IMT screens, worked examples, the CAPS steps and what the course leads to.
IMT Architectural Technology cut off mark at a glance

| IMT’s own cut-off for Architectural Technology | Not published | No IMT departmental figure for 2025/2026 or 2026/2027 in any source I reached |
| My safe target score (advice) | 130 or higher; 150 is comfortable | Consultant advice, not an IMT rule |
| School at IMT | School of Environmental Technology | IMT Registrar notices, March 2024 |
| Level and award | National Diploma (ND), then HND | ND is the UTME entry point; HND listed in IMT’s HND notice |
| Duration | 2 years full-time for ND | NBTE standard ND length |
| UTME subjects | English, Mathematics and two of Physics, Chemistry, Technical Drawing; IMT also accepts Geography | JAMB brochure with IMT remark |

| Part-time | Not on IMT’s part-time list | imt.edu.ng part-time page |
IMT cut-off mark history for Architectural Technology
IMT does not publish a separate cut-off mark for each ND course. What exists is the national floor that JAMB sets for every polytechnic, and one threshold IMT itself used in 2024.
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics | Official (NAN, 11 May 2026) |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics | Official (Nairametrics and Channels TV, 8 July 2025) |
| 2023/2024 | 120 | IMT’s threshold for its advertised courses round, which listed Architectural Technology | Official IMT Registrar notices, March 2024 |
The 120 comes from two notices the IMT Registrar posted on imt.edu.ng in March 2024. They invited candidates from the 2023/2024 UTME who had scored 120 or more and had not yet been admitted to apply for courses that still had places. All five courses in the School of Environmental Technology were on that list, Architectural Technology included. No 2026/2027 IMT notice that I could open repeats the 120, so treat JAMB’s 100 as the floor and aim well above it.
Safe target score for Architectural Technology at IMT (my advice)
IMT has never published a score band for Architectural Technology. The bands below are my judgement from how environmental courses fill at state polytechnics in the South East, adjusted for one hard fact: the course had places left over in 2023/2024 and was advertised to candidates not yet admitted. Use the bands for planning only.
| Your UTME score | My read for Architectural Technology at IMT |
|---|---|
| Below 100 | Not eligible for any polytechnic, IMT included |
| 100 to 119 | Eligible to apply; you need clean credits in Mathematics, Physics and English |
| 120 to 129 | Possible, especially if IMT runs another advertised courses round |
| 130 to 149 | Competitive |
| 150 and above | Strong for Architectural Technology at IMT |
Architecture draws more first-choice applicants than the other four courses in the school, because many candidates who miss a university architecture place turn to the ND. That is why my target is ten marks higher here than for Building Technology or Estate Management. For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 130, ideally 150.
Catchment and state of origin
IMT is owned by Enugu State, so Enugu indigenes are its home catchment, but it admits candidates from every state. IMT has not published a merit, catchment or quota split for its ND courses. Your UTME score, the core O’level credits and getting your documents in early count for more than your state of origin.
IMT Architectural Technology subject combination and O’level requirements
| Requirement | Architectural Technology (ND) at IMT |
|---|---|
| General UTME rule | Use of English, Mathematics and any two of Physics, Chemistry, Technical Drawing |
| IMT remark (UTME) | IMT accepts Geography |
| Combinations I would use for IMT | English, Mathematics, Physics, Technical Drawing; or English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry; or English, Mathematics, Physics, Geography |
| General O’level rule | Five credits in Mathematics, Physics, English Language and any two of Biology, Fine Art, Chemistry, History, Geography, Further Mathematics, Economics or Commerce, Religious Knowledge, Technical Drawing, Business Method |
| Advantage | A pass in Fine Art or Technical Drawing at O’level |
| IMT remark (O’level) | None in the brochure |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO or NABTEB (SSCE or GCE), at most two sittings |
| Direct Entry | Not used for ND. HND entry is with a relevant ND through IMT’s HND form |
Mathematics is the one fixed UTME subject after English. The brochure lets you pick the other two from Physics, Chemistry and Technical Drawing, and IMT’s remark adds Geography to that pool. Read literally, a candidate could sit English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Geography without Physics. I would not do that. Physics is a compulsory O’level credit for this course, and the structures and building science you meet in ND1 lean on it, so I would always keep Physics in the UTME.
If you took Technical Drawing in secondary school, register it. It is the closest UTME paper to what you will do in the drawing studio, and an O’level pass in Technical Drawing or Fine Art counts in your favour under the brochure’s O’level rule.
Direct Entry and HND
There is no Direct Entry into ND1, so every ND place goes through the UTME and CAPS. HND Architectural Technology is on IMT’s own HND notice. That notice, from the 2019/2020 session, asked for a relevant ND with a CGPA of at least 2.50, or a lower CGPA backed by at least two years of verifiable industrial attachment, with a ₦5,000 form. Confirm the current terms on the portal. Our IMT HND admission requirements guide covers that route.
How IMT screens ND Architectural Technology candidates
IMT’s website links a notice titled “Call for 2026/2027 admission into ND and HND programs (regular and part-time)”, and applications run through the SLMS application page on portal.imt.edu.ng. I could not open the 2026/2027 call itself, so the newest confirmed details on how IMT screens ND candidates come from its official 2023/2024 notices. Those notices said IMT would hold no post-UTME examination for its diploma programmes that session and would admit on verified JAMB scores plus O’level results uploaded to CAPS.
| Detail | What we know | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Who applies | Candidates who chose IMT in the UTME and scored at least the JAMB minimum | Standard JAMB rule |
| Where | portal.imt.edu.ng (SLMS Application) | Confirmed link on imt.edu.ng |
| Form fee | ₦2,000 in 2023/2024 | Official IMT notice, March 2024; confirm the 2026/2027 fee on the portal |
| Payment | Interswitch at a bank under Enugu State IGR, or by card through IMT’s Quickteller link | Official IMT notice, March 2024 |
| Screening method | No post-UTME for diploma programmes in 2023/2024; admission on verified JAMB score and O’level on CAPS | Official for 2023/2024; IMT has not published the 2026/2027 method |
| Part-time option | Architectural Technology is not on IMT’s part-time list | imt.edu.ng part-time page |
| Admission deadline for polytechnics | Runs until 31 December 2026 | Official (JAMB, via NAN) |
| Time to accept an offer on CAPS | Four weeks | Official (JAMB, via NAN) |
Worked examples for Architectural Technology applicants
IMT has not published an aggregate formula for ND admission. Some blogs print one, but none cites an IMT document. These examples measure the gap between a UTME score, the national floor and my safe target, then check the subjects against the brochure.
Take Chidera, who scored 146 in English, Mathematics, Physics and Technical Drawing. From one WAEC sitting she has C4 in English, B3 in Mathematics, C5 in Physics, B2 in Technical Drawing, C6 in Chemistry and B3 in Geography.
- Eligibility: 146 minus 100 = 46. She is well clear of JAMB’s polytechnic minimum.
- Against my safe target: 146 minus 130 = 16. She is in the competitive band, a few marks short of my comfortable 150.
- UTME subjects: Mathematics plus Physics and Technical Drawing from the allowed pool. No IMT waiver is needed.
- O’level: Mathematics, Physics and English are the three core credits; Technical Drawing and Geography fill the last two places, and the Technical Drawing grade is the advantage the brochure mentions.
- What I would advise: keep Architectural Technology at IMT and fill the form the week it opens.
Obinna scored 124 with English, Mathematics, Physics and Geography. Under the general brochure rule Geography is not in the pool, but IMT’s remark accepts it, so his combination works at IMT. His score is below my safe target, so he should complete his CAPS upload early, accept quickly if offered, and watch for an IMT advertised courses round like the one in 2024. If his O’level lacks a Physics credit, Architectural Technology is closed to him whatever his score.
How to apply for Architectural Technology at IMT, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Confirm the course on IMT’s list: Architectural Technology is on IMT’s course list in JAMB’s brochure as reprinted by Myschool. Open the IMT Enugu entry on JAMB’s e-brochure when you register and check it still shows.
- Register for the UTME: Choose Architectural Technology, register English and Mathematics with two of Physics, Chemistry, Technical Drawing or Geography, and pick IMT Enugu as your polytechnic choice. If you picked another school first, a JAMB change of institution is possible before IMT closes its form, and a JAMB change of course fixes a wrong course.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: go to an accredited CBT centre and have your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result uploaded. IMT’s 2023/2024 notices made this upload part of the admission decision, and no school can recommend you on CAPS without it.
- Fill IMT’s application form: when the admission call appears on imt.edu.ng, open portal.imt.edu.ng, click Apply, fill the form, choose Interswitch to generate an invoice, pay and print the acknowledgement slip. Use an email address and phone number you check daily.
- Check your status: use the admission checker on the IMT portal, then log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status and open CAPS.
- Accept within four weeks: JAMB gave candidates four weeks to accept 2026 offers. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains every status you might see.
- Pay acceptance and clear: blogs put IMT’s acceptance fee at ₦25,000, but IMT has not published it in any source I reached. Pay only against an invoice generated on the IMT portal.
Warning
Every genuine IMT offer appears on JAMB CAPS. Anyone selling an “IMT Architecture slot” or a place on a special list is outside the process. Pay fees only through invoices generated on portal.imt.edu.ng.
Your chances of getting Architectural Technology at IMT
JAMB’s 100 only makes you eligible. The O’level side removes more Architecture applicants than the score does: a missing credit in Physics or Mathematics, or results that were never uploaded to CAPS. Check those before you worry about your score.
The 2024 advertised courses notice is useful evidence. It shows that in at least one recent session, IMT had Architectural Technology places left after the main round and opened them to anyone with 120 or more. That does not promise the same in 2027, but it tells me this is a course where a candidate with a decent score and complete documents has a real chance. If you list IMT as your first choice and keep your phone and email active, you can respond the day a new round opens.
Studying Architectural Technology at IMT Enugu
Architectural Technology trains the technicians who turn an architect’s design into drawings a builder can use. ND graduates prepare working drawings, build models, survey existing buildings and support architects and contractors on site. The course leans heavily on drawing, both by hand and on computer.
What you study
IMT has not put its Architectural Technology course outline online, so the list below describes what ND Architectural Technology generally covers in Nigerian polytechnics. Ask the department for its own outline at registration.
- Architectural drawing and design studio: plans, sections, elevations and small building designs.
- Building construction: foundations, walls, floors, roofs, doors and windows.
- Building materials: blocks, concrete, timber, steel and finishes.
- History of architecture: traditional Nigerian building as well as world styles.
- Computer-aided design: drafting and 3D modelling software.
- Site and land surveying basics: measuring sites and existing buildings.
- Practical work: model making and a SIWES placement with an architecture firm or contractor.
Accreditation
At IMT’s Global Homecoming on 13 June 2026, the Rector, Prof. Sunday Gozie Ogbodo, said all courses offered by IMT are now fully accredited, after more than 70% of programmes had lost accreditation by the time he took office in 2024. An NBTE accreditation team visited in November 2025. NBTE has not published a programme-by-programme result for Architectural Technology at IMT that I could find, so its individual status is not confirmed. Architects in Nigeria are registered by the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON), and registration as an architect normally requires a university degree plus experience, so plan on further study if you want that title. Ask the department to show the current accreditation letter during clearance if this matters to you.

Mistakes that cost Architecture applicants an IMT place
- Treating 100 as admission: it only makes you eligible to apply.
- Dropping Physics: the UTME pool allows it, but the O’level credit in Physics is compulsory.
- No O’level upload on CAPS: IMT’s 2023/2024 notices admitted on JAMB score and uploaded O’level together.
- Ignoring the advertised courses round: IMT reopened Architectural Technology in 2024 for candidates with 120 or more.
- Buying a “slot”: offers come only through CAPS and the IMT portal.
IMT Architectural Technology cut off mark: frequently asked questions
What is the IMT cut off mark for Architectural Technology? It is 100, JAMB’s 2026 minimum for polytechnics. IMT has not published a separate Architectural Technology figure, so I would aim for 130 or more.
Can I use Geography for Architectural Technology in IMT? Yes. JAMB’s brochure notes that IMT accepts Geography as a UTME subject for this course. I would still keep Physics in your combination.
Is Technical Drawing compulsory for Architecture in IMT? No. Technical Drawing is one of the UTME options, and an O’level pass in Technical Drawing or Fine Art is an advantage, not a requirement.
Does IMT offer Architectural Technology part time? It is not on IMT’s official part-time list, which includes Building Technology and Urban and Rural Planning. Check the portal for any change before you apply.
Sources and updates
The 100 minimum for polytechnics in 2026, the 31 December 2026 admission deadline and the four-week acceptance window come from the News Agency of Nigeria report of JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting (11 May 2026). The 2025 minimum of 100 is from Nairametrics and Channels TV (8 July 2025). The UTME subjects, the O’level list and any IMT remark come from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB polytechnic brochure entry for Architectural Technology, and the course’s place on IMT’s list from Myschool’s IMT Enugu course list, both checked on 29 October 2026. The 120 threshold, the ₦2,000 form fee, the payment channels, the School of Environmental Technology course list and the no post-UTME rule for 2023/2024 are from IMT Registrar notices on imt.edu.ng dated 4 March 2024 and 22 March 2024. The HND entry rule is from IMT’s 2019/2020 HND notice. The part-time list is from IMT’s part-time programmes page. The accreditation remarks are from BusinessDay (13 June 2026). The ₦25,000 acceptance fee is from blogs and is unofficial, and the safe target scores are my advice. This page will be updated when IMT publishes its 2027/2028 admission notice.
