FCC Oji River Computer Science Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028: ND/HND Admission Requirements and Subject Combination

The FCC Oji River Computer Science cut off mark is JAMB’s monotechnic minimum of 100, with no departmental figure published. See the JAMB subject combination, the Physics credit rule, the HND route, screening facts and CAPS steps.

The FCC Oji River Computer Science cut off mark is 100 in the UTME, JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics for 2026/2027. The Federal Cooperative College, Oji River, admits into ND Computer Science from candidates who reach that floor, and it has not published a higher departmental figure for the course.

2027/2028 update: FCC Oji River cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Computer Science is the only computing department at this federal cooperative college in Enugu State; the other six are business and cooperative courses. That matters for your UTME subjects, because Computer Science follows the science rules in the JAMB brochure, and Physics is compulsory at O’level. This page covers the official minimum, my safe target score, the brochure combination, the HND route, what is known about screening, and the CAPS steps.

The floor has held at 100 for two sessions. Nobody outside the college knows how many Computer Science places there are, and computing courses usually attract more applicants than the business departments at a college like this. That is why I give a higher safe target below.

Safe target score for Computer Science at FCC Oji River (my advice)

This is my judgement as an admissions adviser. FCC Oji River has not published its Computer Science intake or applicant numbers.

Your UTME scoreMy read for ND Computer Science at FCC Oji River
Below 100Not eligible. JAMB will not let the college admit you.
100 to 139Eligible. You can be considered, but you depend on how many others apply.
140 to 169Comfortable for this college.
170 and aboveStrong. You would also be competitive for ND Computer Science at larger Enugu polytechnics.

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 160. The extra margin covers the possibility that Computer Science fills faster than the business courses, and it keeps IMT Enugu open as a backup.

Catchment

The college has not published a catchment list or any merit and catchment split. As a federal institution it takes candidates from all states.

FCC Oji River Computer Science subject combination and O’level requirements

The JAMB brochure entry for Computer Science at polytechnic level (Faculty of Sciences) has special remarks for many polytechnics, including IMTE, but none for FCC Oji River. The general rule applies. The college is in the brochure under the code FEDCOOP-OJI (its only special remark is on Cooperative Economics and Management), which confirms it admits through JAMB.

RequirementND Computer Science
UTME subjectsUse of English, Mathematics, plus any two of Physics, Chemistry, Economics and Geography
O’levelFive credits including English Language, Mathematics and Physics
Other O’level subjectsFrom Chemistry, Economics, Geography, Government or History, Further Mathematics, Biology or Agricultural Science, Typewriting
SittingsNot stated by the college; schoolings.org (March 2021) says not more than two sittings
Minimum age16 (JAMB 2026 policy meeting)

The combination I would register

Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. This is the combination most polytechnics accept without argument, and Physics in the UTME lines up with the compulsory Physics credit at O’level. Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Economics is also inside the brochure rule and suits candidates who did not take Chemistry.

Some polytechnics accept a pass in Physics instead of a credit, but those are named exceptions in the brochure (IMTE, Abia Poly and Adamawa Poly among them). FCC Oji River is not on that list, so plan on a credit.

Direct Entry and the HND route

  • ND Computer Science: entry through the UTME with at least 100. Two years under the usual NBTE structure.
  • HND Computer Science: no UTME. Under the general NBTE rule you need an ND in Computer Science or a closely related computing course, normally at lower credit or better, plus one year of industrial training. FCC Oji River has not published its own HND grade requirement, so confirm it before you buy the form.

The college’s 2022/2023 admission announcement listed Computer Science among its seven departments admitting at both ND and HND level. Myschool reported in October 2021 that FCC Oji River also runs an Evening/Weekend ND and HND programme, with forms then at ₦5,000. That figure is old.

Is Computer Science exempt from the UTME?

No. The 2026 policy meeting exempted NCE candidates and only non-technology agriculture courses at ND level from the UTME. Computer Science is a technology course, so you must write the UTME, score at least 100 and be admitted through JAMB CAPS. FCC Oji River does not run NCE.

How FCC Oji River screening works

I found no official website for the college and no admission advert for 2025/2026 or 2026/2027. Here is what is on record.

What we knowDetailSource

In practice, expect to buy the college’s own form, present your UTME result and O’level for checking, and wait for the college to propose you on CAPS. Whether there is a written aptitude test is not public; ask the admissions office in Oji River when forms are released.

Worked example for an ND Computer Science candidate

There is no published aggregate formula for FCC Oji River, so this example only measures the gap between a score, the 100 floor and my safe target.

Take Chinedu, who scored 151 in Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, with credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Economics from one sitting.

  1. Eligibility: 151 minus 100 = 51. He clears the JAMB minimum by 51 marks.
  2. Against my safe target: 160 minus 151 = 9. He is 9 marks short of my target, but inside my 140 to 169 band.
  3. Subjects: his UTME subjects match the brochure, and his O’level includes the compulsory English, Mathematics and Physics credits.
  4. What I would advise: apply as soon as forms open, get his O’level on CAPS early, and accept quickly once the offer appears.

Now take Amaka with 178 but a D7 in Physics. Her score is well above my target, yet the brochure’s general rule asks for a Physics credit, and FCC Oji River has no published exception. She should either rewrite Physics or apply for a business course at the college, such as Business Administration or Accountancy, which do not require Physics.

How to apply for Computer Science at FCC Oji River

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register for the UTME: choose ND Computer Science with Use of English, Mathematics and two brochure subjects. Check that Federal Cooperative College, Oji River appears in JAMB’s institution list for the course; if you chose another school first, use a JAMB change of institution.
  3. Score at least 100: see how to check your JAMB result and what to do with the score.
  4. Upload your O’level to CAPS: at an accredited JAMB centre. The college cannot recommend you otherwise.
  5. Buy the college form: only through the channel FCC Oji River names, and keep the receipt.
  6. Accept on CAPS: at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Offers not accepted within four weeks are withdrawn.
  7. Pay acceptance and register: no current acceptance fee has been published, so confirm the amount at the college bursary and collect an official receipt.

Warning

JAMB said at its May 2026 policy meeting that admission outside CAPS is illegal. Nobody can sell you a Computer Science “slot” at FCC Oji River. Every genuine offer shows on your JAMB CAPS page.

JAMB set 31 December 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education. The 2027/2028 date will come from JAMB’s next policy meeting. Read our JAMB CAPS guide to understand each status.

Studying Computer Science at FCC Oji River

NBTE’s 2020 directory of accredited programmes lists the Federal Cooperative College, Oji River, as a federal institution established in 1976, among specialised institutions offering accredited programmes. It is in Oji River Local Government Area, Enugu State.

What you study

The college has not published its Computer Science curriculum, so this follows the general NBTE ND and HND Computer Science structure.

  • ND years: introduction to computing, programming (usually starting with a language such as Python, C or Java), computer hardware, operating systems, data structures, database design, web development, systems analysis, and the mathematics and statistics behind them.
  • Industrial training: a year with a company or public organisation, often in IT support, networking or software.
  • HND years: software engineering, computer networks, data communication, artificial intelligence basics, compiler construction, project management and a final-year project.
  • Context: because the college’s other departments are in business and cooperatives, projects often build systems for cooperatives, banking or small business records.

Duration and accreditation

ND Computer Science normally runs for two years, and HND for two more after industrial training. The NBTE directory excerpt I could read confirms the college offers accredited programmes but did not show the status of Computer Science. I have not confirmed current NBTE accreditation for ND or HND Computer Science at FCC Oji River. Ask the department to show you its accreditation status before paying acceptance; unaccredited programmes cause problems with NYSC and further study.

Careers after the ND or HND

  • IT support and help desk roles in banks, schools and government offices
  • Junior software or web developer
  • Network and systems administration
  • Data entry, database and records officer, including for cooperative societies
  • Running a computer business or training centre

The Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) regulates computing practice in Nigeria, and HND graduates can work towards registration with it. A good HND can also lead to a direct entry or top-up degree in a university.

Other Enugu options: IMT Enugu Computer Science also uses the polytechnic minimum of 100, and ESUT Computer Science is the degree route at a state university.

Mistakes Computer Science applicants make

  • No Physics credit at O’level: the brochure’s general rule makes it compulsory, and FCC Oji River has no published exception.
  • Registering Biology instead of a brochure subject: the UTME list is Physics, Chemistry, Economics and Geography alongside Mathematics.
  • Leaving out Mathematics: it is compulsory in both the UTME and O’level.
  • Forgetting the CAPS upload: the college cannot propose you without it.
  • Paying for a “slot”: admission outside CAPS is illegal.
  • Relying on the 2022 fee figure: it is years old.

Getting ready for 2027? Read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and the JAMB Chemistry syllabus if Chemistry is one of your subjects.

FCC Oji River Computer Science cut off mark: frequently asked questions

Is 130 enough for Computer Science in Federal Cooperative College Oji River? Yes, 130 is above JAMB’s 100 minimum for monotechnics, and the college has not published a higher figure. With the right subjects and a Physics credit you can be considered, though I would aim for 160 to be safe.

Can I study Computer Science at FCC Oji River without Physics? Not under the brochure’s general rule, which asks for a credit in Physics at O’level. Physics is not compulsory in the UTME itself, where Economics or Geography can stand in, but I would still take it.

Does FCC Oji River offer HND Computer Science? Yes. The 2022/2023 admission announcement listed Computer Science among departments admitting for both ND and HND. HND entry needs an ND and industrial training, not a UTME score.

Is FCC Oji River Computer Science accredited by NBTE? The college is listed in NBTE’s 2020 directory as offering accredited programmes, but the status of Computer Science itself is not confirmed. Ask the department before you pay acceptance.
