CHT Michika Environmental Health Technology Requirements 2027/2028

Adamawa State College of Health Technology, Michika was reported in 2024 to run ND and HND Environmental Health Technology. See the reported O’level rules, form price, JAMB position and what to confirm with EHORECON for 2027/2028.

Adamawa State College of Health Technology, Michika admission requirements for Environmental Health Technology, as last reported, are five O’level credits in science subjects at not more than two sittings, the college’s own form (₦6,500 in 2024/2025) and its entrance exam. Reports from 2024 list both an ND (two years) and an HND (two years) in Environmental Health Technology. No source says whether JAMB is involved, and I could not confirm the programme’s approval by the Environmental Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria (EHORECON).

2027/2028 update: Adamawa State College of Health Technology, Michika admission requirements and its entrance exam process usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the position on this page is what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. The most recent details available are from the 2024/2025 form reported in 2024. If the college publishes a newer notice, we will update this page.

Please read this before you rely on anything below. Everything I could find about the college’s admissions comes from blog reprints written in 2024, not from an official notice. I found no college website, no 2025/2026 or 2026/2027 advert, and no record from the professional councils that approve health courses. The college is also not on the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s December 2025 list of approved schools. So this page tells you what was reported, labels it, and lists what you must confirm with the college before paying.

Is Environmental Health Technology at Michika approved?

Environmental health training in Nigeria is regulated by EHORECON, and National Diploma programmes are also accredited by NBTE. I found no record from either body naming the Michika college’s programme. The 2023/2024 blog list uses older titles (Environmental Health Technologist, Technician and Assistant), which suggests the college has run environmental health courses for some time, but that is not the same as current approval.

  • Ask for the approval letter: the council letter or certificate naming the college and the programme, with its date.
  • Check the council yourself: EHORECON publishes information on approved training institutions; ask the council or check its website for the college’s name.
  • Ask about NBTE: National Diploma programmes are normally accredited by NBTE as well as the professional council.
  • Ask about indexing and licensing: students on approved programmes are usually indexed by the council early in the course; ask when that happens and how much it costs.

I am not saying the programme is unapproved. I am saying I could not confirm its approval, and with health courses that matters more than anything else on this page.

Environmental Health Technology admission requirements (reported)

The only published requirements are from a 2024 blog reprint of the college’s advert. They are general to the college, not specific to Environmental Health Technology:

  • Diploma, ND and HND courses: five credits in basic science subjects in WAEC, NECO or GCE, at not more than two sittings.
  • Certificate courses: four passes including English, Mathematics and two sciences (Biology, Chemistry or Health Science), with Grade II and NABTEB results also mentioned.
  • Experience entry: the blog says some certificate holders with one year of experience may enter at 200 level.

What I would present (my advice)

Your O’level positionMy read for Environmental Health Technology
Fewer than five creditsShort of the reported ND rule; resit first
Five credits, but no English or MathematicsRisky; most health courses want both
Five credits including English, Mathematics, Biology and ChemistryMeets the reported rule and the usual health college standard
Five or more credits with Biology and Chemistry at B grade, one sittingStrong. This is what I would aim for.

Environmental health leans on Biology and Chemistry, so treat those two credits, with English and Mathematics, as essential. Physics, Geography or Agricultural Science make a sensible fifth. For HND entry, expect to need the ND in Environmental Health with at least a lower credit, plus industrial experience.

Do you need JAMB for Environmental Health Technology at Michika?

No source mentions JAMB for this college, and I could not confirm whether JAMB lists it. Many state colleges of health technology have admitted through their own forms and entrance exams, but JAMB now expects National Diploma admissions to pass through CAPS, and the Federal Government said in May 2026 that admissions outside CAPS are illegal. My advice:

  • For an ND: ask the college whether you must choose it on JAMB. If yes, register for the UTME and score at least 100, JAMB’s 2026/2027 minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics.
  • For a certificate course: JAMB does not normally handle certificate admissions, but ask the college what it requires.
  • Keep a UTME option open: if you can, register for the 2027 UTME with English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. It keeps other colleges and universities open to you.

Entrance exam and screening

The college has not published the exam format, date or pass mark in any source I reached. Colleges of health technology usually set an objective test in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and general knowledge, then an interview. Prepare for that pattern, but treat it as my guidance.

Worked example (illustrative)

Jacob has one NECO sitting: English C6, Mathematics C5, Biology B3, Chemistry C5, Physics C6 and Geography C4. He wants ND Environmental Health Technology.

  1. O’level check: six credits in one sitting, including English, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry. That clears the reported rule.
  2. Approval check: he asks the college for the EHORECON and NBTE letters before buying the form.
  3. JAMB check: he asks whether he must choose the college on JAMB. If so, he needs at least 100 in the UTME.
  4. Exam preparation: English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and general knowledge.

How to apply for Environmental Health Technology at Michika, step by step

  1. Confirm the course is running and approved: visit or call the college in Michika and ask for the current notice and the EHORECON approval letter.
  2. Ask whether JAMB is required: if it is, register for the UTME and make the college your choice. Get your JAMB profile code by sending NIN, a space and your NIN to 55019 or 66019.
  3. Generate the payment invoice only from the college’s portal: the 2024 blog named ascoht.admissions.cloud and Remita. Confirm the address with the college before you pay, because I could not open it.
  4. Fill the form and upload documents: O’level result, birth certificate, certificate of origin and passport photographs are the usual set.
  5. Print your form and exam slip: take them to the exam with your payment receipt.
  6. Sit the entrance exam and interview.
  7. Check the admission list and, if JAMB applies, accept on CAPS: our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  8. Pay acceptance and register: only through the channel on your admission letter.

Warning

Before you pay for any Michika form, get the professional council approval for your programme in writing. A health certificate from an unapproved programme may not lead to a licence or a government job.

Studying Environmental Health Technology

Environmental Health Technology trains people to prevent disease through the environment: water, sanitation, food hygiene, waste and housing. Graduates are the public health inspectors of local government health departments.

What you study

  • Sanitation and waste: refuse and sewage disposal, latrines and drainage.
  • Water and food safety: water quality, food and meat inspection, market hygiene.
  • Disease control: vectors and pests, communicable diseases and basic epidemiology.
  • Environmental law and inspection: public health laws, premises inspection and enforcement.
  • Field practice: community postings and industrial training.

Careers and licensing

  • Local government health departments: environmental health officer or technician.
  • Industry: safety, hygiene and waste roles in factories, hotels and abattoirs.
  • NGO work: water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) projects.
  • Licensing: practice requires registration with EHORECON, which needs an approved programme.

Approved alternatives to consider

Mistakes Environmental Health Technology applicants make

  • Not checking EHORECON approval: without it, you may not be able to register as an environmental health officer.
  • Trusting a blog date: the last sale dates I found are from 2024. Get the current dates from the college.
  • Confusing Michika colleges: Tikos and Kings College and Royal Intellect College, both in Michika, are private colleges that Adamawa State ordered to remain closed in October 2025. They are not this state college.
  • Paying an agent for “admission”: pay only the college, through its own invoice.
