MOUAU Forestry and Environmental Management Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

MOUAU’s minimum for Forestry and Environmental Management is 150 in the UTME with MOUAU first choice. See the JAMB subjects, MOUAU’s O’level and Direct Entry remarks, the three options on the JAMB brochure, a safe target score and CAPS steps.

The MOUAU Forestry cut off mark is 150 in the UTME for Forestry and Environmental Management, with Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) as your first choice. That is the single minimum MOUAU set for all courses in its 2026/2027 screening notice; there is no separate published figure for Forestry.

2027/2028 update: MOUAU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Forestry and Environmental Management sits in the College of Natural Resources and Environmental Management (CNREM). On the JAMB brochure, MOUAU is the only university listed under this exact course name, and it comes with three options. This page covers the official figures, my safe target score, the UTME subjects, MOUAU’s O’level and Direct Entry remarks, a worked example and the CAPS steps.

Safe target score for Forestry at MOUAU (my advice)

MOUAU does not release the lowest score admitted per course. Forestry usually draws fewer applicants than the popular science courses, but you are still ranked against the others. This table is my judgement, not a MOUAU rule.

Your UTME scoreMy read for MOUAU Forestry
Below 150Not eligible for any MOUAU course
150 to 164Eligible; strong O’level grades will carry you
165 to 184A reasonable chance with clean credits in one sitting
185 and aboveStrong

My target for the 2027 UTME is at least 170, ideally 185, with credits in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and another science, and at least a pass in Physics.

Catchment and merit

As a federal university, MOUAU admits on a mix of merit, catchment and educationally less developed states. It has not published its split or catchment list, so plan on merit.

UTME subject combination and O’level for MOUAU Forestry and Environmental Management

RequirementForestry and Environmental Management
UTME subjectsUse of English, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, and Physics or Mathematics
O’level (general line)Credits in English, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and one of Physics, Economics, Further Mathematics or Statistics
O’level (MOUAU remark)Five credits at not more than two sittings: English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, and any other science subject
PhysicsAt least an O’level pass (MOUAU remark)
Agricultural ScienceA credit in it must be backed by at least a pass in Biology
Direct EntryTwo A-level passes in Chemistry and Biology, Agricultural Science, Zoology or Botany; MOUAU also accepts ND or HND in related fields
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO, NABTEB

The UTME combination on the brochure entry, as reprinted by Myschool, is Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, and Physics or Mathematics, plus Use of English. If you are torn between Biology and Agricultural Science for the UTME, I would pick Biology: it fits the general O’level line, the MOUAU remark, and nearly every other science course you might switch to.

The O’level has two layers. The general line asks for English, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology, plus one of Physics, Economics, Further Mathematics or Statistics. MOUAU’s own remark is a little different: it accepts Biology or Agricultural Science, wants “any other science subject” as the fifth credit, limits you to two sittings, and asks for at least a pass in Physics. To satisfy both layers, have credits in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics. Economics as your fifth credit fits the general line but is not a science, so it may not meet MOUAU’s remark.

The three options on the JAMB brochure

The brochure entry says MOUAU offers Forestry and Environmental Management with these options:

  1. Forestry and Wildlife Management: forest and wildlife conservation, protected areas and game management.
  2. Agro-Forestry: combining trees with crops and livestock on farms.
  3. Toxicology and Environmental Management: pollution and environmental protection.

MOUAU also lists a separate department of Environmental Management and Toxicology in CNREM. When you register, check MOUAU’s course list on the JAMB portal and choose the name that matches the department you want. If you are unsure, ask MOUAU before your registration is final.

Direct Entry

The general line asks for two A-level passes in Chemistry and one of Biology, Agricultural Science, Zoology or Botany. MOUAU’s remark adds that it accepts ND or HND in related fields. MOUAU’s 2026/2027 notice gave no further Direct Entry details, so confirm the entry level with the admissions office.

How MOUAU screens Forestry applicants

The 2026/2027 screening notice was signed by the Registrar, Dr (Mrs) Nkeiruka Charity Mbanasor, and reprinted by Myschool on 20 June 2026. I could not open the original on mouau.edu.ng, so the details below come from that reprint.

Worked example for Forestry candidates

MOUAU has not published an aggregate formula. To show how the parts interact, I use an illustrative method common at Nigerian universities: UTME score divided by 8 (up to 50 points) plus O’level points for five relevant subjects, where A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6 and C6 = 5 (up to 50 points). This is my example, not MOUAU’s formula. Both candidates below wrote English, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

  1. Kosisochukwu scored 172 with B2 in English, B3 in Mathematics, B3 in Chemistry, B2 in Biology and C4 in Physics from one sitting. UTME points: 172 ÷ 8 = 21.5. O’level points: 9 + 8 + 8 + 9 + 7 = 41. Illustrative total: 62.5.
  2. Uzoma scored 190 with C6 in English, C5 in Mathematics, C6 in Chemistry, C5 in Biology and C6 in Economics over two sittings, with an F9 in Physics. UTME points: 190 ÷ 8 = 23.75. O’level points: 5 + 6 + 5 + 6 + 5 = 27. Illustrative total: 50.75.
  3. The takeaway: Kosisochukwu leads by 11.75 points with an 18-mark lower UTME. Uzoma also failed Physics and used Economics as his fifth credit, so he may not meet MOUAU’s remark at all.

Before you chase more UTME marks, check your O’level against MOUAU’s remark line by line.

How to apply for Forestry at MOUAU, step by step

  1. Get a JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the SIM linked to that NIN. The code arrives by SMS.
  2. Register the UTME with the right subjects: pick Forestry at MOUAU with Use of English, Chemistry, Biology and Physics (or Mathematics), and make MOUAU your first choice. If you already chose another school, do a JAMB change of institution before MOUAU opens screening.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: go to an accredited JAMB CBT centre once your result is out. Upload the sitting with your Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics credits and your Physics result.
  4. Register on the MOUAU portal: when screening opens, fill in your details on portal.mouau.edu.ng and generate a Remita invoice.
  5. Pay ₦2,000: by card or cash at a bank through Remita, then keep the RRR and receipt.
  6. Watch the portal: MOUAU posts screening results and admission status there. The 2026/2027 notice gave no test date.
  7. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. JAMB gives four weeks. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  8. Pay acceptance and clear: MOUAU’s acceptance and school fees were not in any source I reached. Take the figure from your portal invoice and pay only through it.

Warning

Every genuine MOUAU offer appears on JAMB CAPS, and JAMB said in May 2026 that admission outside CAPS is illegal. Anyone selling a Forestry place is selling something that does not exist; pay MOUAU only through its portal invoice.

JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the deadline for public universities to finish 2026/2027 admissions. If you applied this year, check CAPS now.

Forestry and Environmental Management at MOUAU: the programme

CNREM has three departments: Forestry and Environmental Management, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management, and Environmental Management and Toxicology. MOUAU is a federal university of agriculture at Umudike, about 10 km from Umuahia in Abia State, established by federal decree in November 1992.

What you study

MOUAU has not published a course outline that I could reach. Forestry degrees in Nigeria usually include:

  • Early years: general agriculture, biology, chemistry, mathematics and statistics.
  • Forest science: dendrology (tree identification), silviculture, forest ecology and forest soils.
  • Measurement and planning: forest mensuration, inventory, surveying, remote sensing and forest management plans.
  • Products: wood science, timber utilisation and non-timber forest products.
  • Wildlife and environment: wildlife management, conservation, agro-forestry and environmental protection.
  • Practical work: field practicals, an attachment year and a final-year project.

Degree, duration and accreditation

The degree title (B.Sc, B.Agric or B.For) was not stated in any official source I reached. Forestry degrees in Nigeria commonly run for five years, but MOUAU has not confirmed this for the course in what I found. NUC accreditation status was not found, so I am not claiming one.

Careers

  • Forest officers with federal and state forestry departments and forest reserves.
  • Research with the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria and similar institutes.
  • Conservation work in national parks, wildlife programmes and environmental NGOs.
  • Timber, plantation and agro-forestry businesses.
  • Climate, carbon and environmental consultancy work.
  • Postgraduate study in forestry, wildlife or environmental management.

For revision, use our JAMB Biology syllabus and JAMB Chemistry syllabus. If you are writing in 2027, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts, and when results are out, see how to check your JAMB result. If your score falls short for this course, our JAMB change of course guide shows how to switch before admission closes.

Mistakes that cost Forestry applicants a MOUAU place

  • No Physics result in O’level: MOUAU wants at least a pass.
  • Economics as the fifth credit: the general line allows it, MOUAU’s remark asks for a science.
  • Agricultural Science credit with a failed Biology: MOUAU will not count it.
  • Picking the wrong course name on JAMB: check MOUAU’s list and match it to the department you want.
  • MOUAU as second choice: the notice required first choice.
  • Letting the CAPS offer lapse: JAMB gives four weeks.

MOUAU Forestry cut off mark: frequently asked questions

What subjects do I need in JAMB for Forestry at MOUAU? Use of English, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, and Physics or Mathematics. Biology and Physics are the safest pair because they also match MOUAU’s O’level remark.

Is 165 enough for Forestry and Environmental Management in MOUAU? 165 clears the 150 minimum and is at the start of my “reasonable chance” band. With all five credits in one sitting it is workable.

Can I use Agricultural Science instead of Biology for MOUAU Forestry? Yes. The UTME line accepts Biology or Agricultural Science, and MOUAU’s O’level remark accepts an Agricultural Science credit if you also have at least a pass in Biology.

Can I enter MOUAU Forestry with ND or HND? MOUAU’s remark on the JAMB brochure says it accepts ND or HND in related fields for Direct Entry. The entry level and minimum grade were not given, so confirm them with MOUAU before applying.

Sources and updates

The 150 minimum, the first-choice rule, the 6 June 2026 opening, the ₦2,000 Remita fee, the portal address, the awaiting-result rule and the weighting of O’level grades and sittings come from MOUAU’s 2026/2027 screening notice signed by the Registrar, Dr (Mrs) Nkeiruka Charity Mbanasor, as reprinted by Myschool on 20 June 2026; I could not open the original on mouau.edu.ng. The national minimum of 150, the 31 October 2026 admission deadline, the four-week CAPS acceptance window and the warning that admissions outside CAPS are illegal come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). College and department names come from MOUAU’s official Academic Department by Faculty page (last modified 19 June 2026). The UTME, O’level and Direct Entry rules, MOUAU’s O’level and Direct Entry remarks and the three MOUAU options come from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure entry for Forestry and Environmental Management, which lists MOUAU as the only university under that course name. The safe target table and the worked example are my own advice and illustration. MOUAU’s fees, the exact degree title and duration, and the accreditation status were not published in any source I reached. Checked on 29 October 2026; this page will be updated if MOUAU publishes a departmental cut-off or new requirements.
