The AUN Business Administration cut off mark 2027/2028 candidates should plan with is 160 in the UTME. That figure holds because American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola, a private university, applies one published minimum to every undergraduate course. Its undergraduate requirements page asks Nigerian applicants for a “JAMB score of 160 or the yearly official cut-off score, whichever applies”, plus five O’level credits including English Language and Mathematics. AUN has not published a separate departmental figure for Business Administration.
2027/2028 update: AUN cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They are based on AUN’s undergraduate requirements page (160, or the yearly official cut-off if higher), because AUN has not published separate course cut-offs. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
AUN does not run a post-UTME test. It says admission is selective and based only on academic qualifications, so once you have 160, your O’level grades and a complete application carry the decision. Below you will find the official figures, a safe target score (my advice), the JAMB subject combination from the AUN entries in JAMB’s brochure, the O’level subjects AUN refuses to count, how the application works, the 2026/2027 fees for Business Administration, and the CAPS steps.
Check the JAMB course name
JAMB’s course list for AUN has no entry called Business Administration. The closest entries are Business Management or Management. Before you register for the UTME or change course, write to AUN Admissions and ask which JAMB course name leads to its B.Sc. Business Administration degree, and keep the reply. A wrong course name on CAPS can cost you the session.

AUN Business Administration cut-off history
| Session or date | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Current AUN page (undated) | 160 | AUN minimum for all undergraduate courses | Official |
| 2025 (Studentship blog, 17 May 2025) | 160 | Same AUN minimum, reported by a blog | Unofficial, consistent with AUN |
| 2026/2027 | 150 | JAMB national minimum for universities | Official |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | JAMB national minimum for universities | Official (reported by Nairametrics, 8 July 2025) |
| Any session | Not published | AUN departmental figure for Business Administration | None found |
AUN’s 160 sits 10 marks above JAMB’s national floor. Its wording also means that if JAMB ever sets a university minimum above 160, that higher figure becomes AUN’s floor too. A score of 150 to 159 can get you into some Nigerian universities, but not AUN.
Safe target score for Business Administration at AUN (my advice)
This is my judgement as an admissions adviser, not an AUN rule. AUN publishes no data on the scores of admitted students, and its fees keep the applicant pool smaller than at most federal universities, so the extra marks above 160 matter less here than your O’level grades do.
| Your UTME score | My read for AUN Business Administration |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Below JAMB’s 2026 university minimum. No Nigerian university can admit you on this score. |
| 150 to 159 | Meets JAMB’s floor but not AUN’s published 160. Not eligible at AUN. |
| 160 to 179 | Eligible. Strong O’level grades carry the application. |
| 180 to 199 | Comfortable, provided your O’level subjects are right. |
| 200 and above | Strong. |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for 180 or more in Business Administration. More important at AUN: five clean credits in the right subjects, ideally at one sitting.
JAMB subject combination and O’level for AUN Business Administration
| Requirement | Business Administration at AUN |
|---|---|
| Course name on JAMB’s AUN list | No entry called Business Administration. Closest entries: Business Management and Management |
| AUN remark (Management) | Mathematics, Economics, plus Government or Geography |
| General line (Business Management) | Mathematics, Economics and one other subject |
| Combination I would register | Use of English, Mathematics, Economics, Government (or Geography) |
| O’level (AUN page) | Five credits including English Language and Mathematics, at most two sittings |
| Direct Entry (AUN remark, Management) | Two A Level passes from Accounting, Economics, Management, Mathematics, Geography and Statistics |
JAMB’s AUN list has two business courses close to this one: Business Management and Management. AUN’s remark under Management asks for Mathematics, Economics and one of Government or Geography. The Business Management entry carries no AUN remark, and its general line is Mathematics, Economics and one other subject. Economics with Government or Geography meets AUN’s Management remark and the general Business Management line at the same time, which is why I would register it. Ask AUN which of the two JAMB course names it maps to Business Administration before you register or change course.
O’level subjects AUN does not count
AUN’s remarks in the JAMB brochure, repeated under several course entries, list O’level subjects it will not accept among your five credits: Agricultural Science, Food and Nutrition, Home Economics, Home Management, Physical and Health Education, Music, Commerce, Accounting, Financial Accounting, Book Keeping, Islamic History, Religious Studies, Tajweed, Library Studies, Diction, Kiswahili, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Arabic, Turkish and Study Skills. A credit in any of these is fine to have, but it will not count towards AUN’s five.
AUN’s own requirements page adds that the five credits must come from no more than two sittings, with exceptions considered case by case. Use of English is compulsory in the UTME for every course, so the table above shows your other three subjects.
Direct Entry and transfer
AUN’s requirements page accepts Direct Entry and transfer applicants with NCE, OND, HND or A Level results, transcripts, SSCE results, a Direct Entry JAMB or IJMB score of at least 160, a recommendation letter from a dean, an ID and a personal essay. Its remarks in the JAMB brochure say AUN does not admit directly into 200 level and that the Dean of the school may transfer relevant credits. In practice, plan to start in year one and ask the School of Business and Entrepreneurship how many credits it will carry over. IGCSE and Cambridge A Level results are accepted.

Worked example for an AUN Business Administration candidate
With no test and no published aggregate formula, there is nothing to average. What you can check is your score against 160, your score against my safe target, and whether your O’level subjects count at AUN.
Take Ifeoma, who scored 176 and has B3 English, C4 Mathematics, B2 Economics, B3 Government and C5 Geography from one sitting.
- Eligibility: 176 minus 160 = 16. Ifeoma clears AUN’s minimum by 16 marks.
- Against my safe target: 180 minus 176 = 4. Ifeoma is 4 marks below the score I would call comfortable, so the O’level grades need to be strong.
- O’level check: Five accepted credits including English and Mathematics. Nothing rules her out.
- What I would advise: apply early on AUN’s portal, upload the O’level to CAPS, and keep Business Administration as the course on the JAMB profile.
Musa scored 162 but registered Business Management with Commerce, Christian Religious Studies and Economics. 162 minus 160 = 2, so he is eligible on score. Without Mathematics in his UTME, he misses AUN’s Management remark, so I would expect AUN or JAMB to flag his combination. He should ask AUN before CAPS closes whether a transfer is possible.
How to apply for Business Administration at AUN, step by step
- Get your profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME: pick the course name shown above and the subject combination I recommend, and choose AUN. If you chose another school, do a JAMB change of institution to AUN.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do this at a JAMB-accredited centre. AUN cannot admit you on CAPS while your results are missing.
- Apply to AUN: complete the undergraduate application at aun.edu.ng/apply/ug and upload or email your documents, including your UTME result and O’level results.
- Wait for the Admission Committee: AUN reviews completed applications only, so a missing document stalls you. Watch your email.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay the acceptance fee and deposit: AUN describes its acceptance fee as refundable and takes payment by bank, credit or debit card. Pay the tuition deposit by the date in your acceptance letter.
- Sit the placement test: AUN uses it to place you in the right English course, not to decide admission.
Fake forms: AUN does not sell post-UTME forms or run a screening test. A genuine AUN admission comes from AUN and shows on JAMB CAPS, and you should pay only through the channels in your AUN acceptance letter.
JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities, so AUN’s CAPS admissions for this session run until 30 November 2026. The 31 October 2026 deadline you may have read about was for public universities and does not apply to AUN. If you are writing the UTME in 2027, plan for AUN’s Fall 2027 intake and read when JAMB 2027 registration starts.

Scholarships and financial aid
AUN’s financial aid page describes a Scholarship Program for academically promising students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds who care about community development and show the potential to make a difference. It offers comprehensive and part-time scholarships with leadership development. The same page lists Work-Study, a Presidential Internship (about 10 hours a week with a monthly stipend, in offices such as the President’s and the Registrar’s) and a one-semester Study Abroad exchange. It does not publish scores, amounts, steps or deadlines.
In July 2024, AUN announced 20th anniversary tuition scholarships of 10% to 50% for incoming undergraduates, depending on the programme, with the largest for Nursing, Public Health and the engineering programmes. That was a 2024 offer. Ask Admissions and Financial Aid whether anything similar applies to the 2027 intake.
Studying Business Administration at AUN
Business Administration is offered as a B.Sc. Business Administration in the School of Business and Entrepreneurship. Degrees like this normally take four years in Nigeria; AUN’s programme page does not state the duration, so confirm it with AUN. AUN’s fee page prices tuition by the credit hour, so expect a credit-unit system.
What you typically study
- Principles of management, organisational behaviour and human resources
- Accounting, finance and business statistics for managers
- Marketing, operations and supply chain basics
- Business law, ethics and entrepreneurship
- Strategy and a final-year project or case work
Accreditation
AUN is an NUC-licensed private university and Business Administration is on its official programmes list. Its programme-level NUC accreditation status is not confirmed, so ask AUN for the latest NUC result before you pay.

Mistakes that cost Business Administration applicants an AUN place
- Wrong subjects or course name: Registering a JAMB course name AUN does not map to Business Administration. Ask AUN which name to pick.
- Scoring 150 to 159 and applying anyway: AUN’s published minimum is 160.
- Counting a refused O’level subject: Commerce, Agricultural Science, Religious Studies and Nigerian languages do not count at AUN.
- Three sittings: AUN’s limit is two, with exceptions only case by case.
- O’level not on CAPS: AUN cannot complete your admission on JAMB without it.
- Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: the acceptance fee and tuition deposit are separate AUN steps.
AUN Business Administration cut off mark 2027: frequently asked questions
