ASCONS Yola ND Nursing Admission Requirements 2027/2028: Exam and Form

Adamawa State College of Nursing Sciences, Yola asked for UTME 150 (first choice), five science credits and a ₦20,000 form in its last notice. See NMCN approval, screening steps and safe targets for 2027/2028.

Adamawa State College of Nursing Sciences ND Nursing admission requirements, from the college’s 2025/2026 notice, are a UTME score of at least 150 with the college as your first choice, five O’level credits in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology at not more than two sittings, a minimum age of 16, and the college’s own form, aptitude test and oral interview. The form cost ₦20,000 for 2025/2026. For 2026/2027, JAMB’s national minimum for colleges of nursing is also 150.

2027/2028 update: Adamawa State College of Nursing Sciences admission requirements and entrance exam process usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the details on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest notice reported (2025/2026). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

The college is in Yola. It used to be the Adamawa State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Yola, which is why its portal address still carries “conam”. A 2024 state law, signed by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in November 2024, renamed it the College of Nursing Sciences. Some searches use the name “College of Health Technology Wuro Hausa”; we could not match that name to a separate institution.

Notice that in 2025/2026 the college set 150 when JAMB’s floor was only 140. That tells you the college is willing to sit above the national minimum. With JAMB’s floor now at 150 as well, I would treat 150 as the bare minimum for 2027/2028, not a target.

Safe target score (my advice)

UTME scoreMy read for ND Nursing at ASCONS
Below 150Below the college’s last minimum and JAMB’s 2026/2027 floor; not eligible
150 to 179Eligible for screening; your aptitude test and interview decide
180 to 219Comfortable. This is my safe target
220 and aboveStrong

Nursing is one of the most competitive courses in any state, and the college has not published how it ranks UTME, aptitude test and interview. These bands are my judgement.

UTME subjects and O’level requirements

RequirementND Nursing at ASCONS
UTME subjectsUse of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics (the usual nursing combination; the college notice does not list them, so confirm on the JAMB e-brochure)
O’level subjectsCredits in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology
SittingsNot more than two
Exam bodiesWAEC and NECO may be combined; NABTEB only with NABTEB
AgeAt least 16 by 1 September of the admission year (2025 notice)
Return-Basic and Post-BasicMust hold current NMCN registration (2025 notice)

Physics is the subject that most often blocks nursing applicants. If your Physics is a pass, resit it before applying, because the notice names it as one of the five credits.

How ASCONS screening works

The 2025/2026 process, as reprinted from the college notice, ran like this:

  1. Generate a Remita RRR: on the official Remita platform, for ₦20,000.
  2. Pay at a bank: at any designated bank using the RRR.
  3. Complete the online form: at conam.admissions.cloud, upload your credentials and print three copies.
  4. Get your Examination Screening Card: take the printed form and payment proof to the college.
  5. Aptitude test: held on 8 September 2025.
  6. Post-UTME screening and oral interview: 15 to 20 September 2025.

Expect the 2027/2028 cycle to follow a similar pattern, but with new dates. The college has not published them.

Worked example (illustrative)

Esther, 17, scored 196 in the UTME with Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and chose the college first. Her one WAEC sitting has English C5, Mathematics C6, Biology B3, Chemistry C4, Physics C6 and Civic Education B2.

  1. UTME check: 196 clears 150 and sits in my comfortable band.
  2. O’level check: all five named credits, one sitting.
  3. Age check: 17, above the minimum of 16.
  4. Next step: buy the form, sit the aptitude test and interview, then watch the list and CAPS.

Musa scored 147. He is three marks short of both the college’s last minimum and JAMB’s 2026/2027 floor, so he cannot be admitted on that score. His options are to rewrite in 2027 or to look at Community Nursing, which the college has run without a JAMB requirement for Adamawa indigenes.

How to apply, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019.
  2. Register for the UTME: with English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and the college as your first choice.
  3. Score at least 150: aim for 180 or more.
  4. Upload your O’level at a JAMB centre: CAPS must see it.
  5. Buy the college form when it is announced: through Remita on the college portal. Check the address on the official notice.
  6. Sit the aptitude test and interview.
  7. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  8. Pay acceptance and register.

If the college was not your first choice, use JAMB change of institution before admissions close.

Warning

The Federal Government has said that any admission done outside JAMB CAPS is illegal and will not be recognised. If someone offers you a place that does not show on CAPS, or asks for money to “process” one, walk away.

Programmes at the college and NMCN approval

NMCN’s December 2025 list of approved schools lists “College of Nursing Science, Adamawa State” for four programmes: Nursing, Midwifery, Community Nursing and Community Midwifery, with full approval dated December 2023. The list shows no quota. A separate federal school, the College of Nursing Sciences at Modibo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola, is listed on its own; do not confuse the two.

  • ND/HND Nursing: the main entry route through JAMB, covered on this page.
  • Return-Basic Nursing or Midwifery and Post-Basic Nursing: for nurses and midwives already registered with NMCN.
  • Community Nursing and Community Midwifery: see our Community Nursing and Midwifery guide.

What you study and where it leads

  • Sciences for nursing: anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology and pharmacology.
  • Nursing practice: medical, surgical, maternal and child health, community and mental health nursing.
  • Clinical postings: supervised work in hospital wards and health centres.
  • Licensing: NMCN professional exams lead to registration as a nurse.
  • Further study: a BNSc at a university such as MAU Yola, or post-basic specialties.

Mistakes ND Nursing applicants make

  • Applying with a pass in Physics: the notice names Physics among the five credits.
  • Not choosing the college first on JAMB: the notice asks for first choice or a change to it.
  • Mixing NABTEB with WAEC or NECO: the notice allows NABTEB only with NABTEB.
  • Paying an agent: generate the RRR yourself on the college portal.
