There is no UTME cut-off mark for NCE programmes at African Thinkers Community of Inquiry (ATCOI) College of Education, Enugu for 2027/2028 candidates with at least four O’level credits. Since the national admission policy of 11 May 2026, NCE candidates with four or more credits do not sit the UTME, but they must still register with JAMB and be admitted through CAPS. ATCOI itself has not published a cut-off, screening date or form for any year that I could find.
2027/2028 update: ATCOI admission requirements and entry rules usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the rules on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official position (the 2026/2027 national admission policy and JAMB’s June 2026 NCE registration guide). If the 2027/2028 rules change anything, we will update this page.
ATCOI is a small private college of education in Enugu State. JAMB’s course list for it, as reprinted by Myschool, has 44 entries, including an unusual subject called Ecumenics. This guide sets out the cut-off position, the full course list by group, the O’level subjects that count, the JAMB NCE costs, a worked example and the application steps, with a clear note of what the college has not published.

ATCOI cut-off mark history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2027/2028 | No UTME score needed for NCE | Planning position carried over from 2026/2027 | Holds unless JAMB changes the policy |
| 2026/2027 | No UTME score needed | Four-credit NCE candidates register with JAMB and are admitted on CAPS without sitting the UTME | Official national policy and JAMB’s June 2026 guide |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB national minimum UTME score for colleges of education | Official national figure (JAMB, July 2025) |
| Any year | No ATCOI figure | The college has not published a cut-off of its own | Nothing found online or in reprints |
JAMB did not announce a numeric minimum for colleges of education in 2026, so a 150 figure quoted for an NCE course is the university minimum, not a college of education rule. On timing, Nairametrics (11 May 2026) said the UTME exemption starts with the 2027 admission cycle, while JAMB’s June 2026 NCE registration guide and Legit (23 July 2026) show it already applied in 2026. For 2027/2028 the answer is the same either way: no UTME for NCE if you have at least four O’level credits.
Is ATCOI admitting for 2026/2027?
I found no ATCOI admission notice for 2026/2027 or 2025/2026, either from the college or reprinted by admission news sites, and no official website. What is on record is that the college is listed as open on the NCCE accredited colleges list as a private college of education, and that JAMB carries a course list for it. For colleges of education, the 2026/2027 admission window runs until 31 December 2026.
You can still choose ATCOI on JAMB’s NCE registration, but confirm with the college in person or by phone that it is taking students this session, and which courses are running, before you pay anything beyond JAMB’s own charges.
Claims you may see online
- An acceptance fee of 20,000: one blog page gives this for 2026/2027, but the page’s own date is 2023, it names no currency and it cites no college notice. Treat it as unconfirmed.
- “No JAMB” admission: adverts beside some ATCOI pages offer admission without JAMB. That is wrong. JAMB registration and CAPS are compulsory for NCE, and admissions outside CAPS are illegal.
- Degree or “part-time degree” places: from 2026/2027 JAMB does not allow any college of education to admit into 100 or 200 level of a degree, affiliated or not.
NCE courses at ATCOI
These are the 44 entries on JAMB’s list for “African Thinkers Community Of Inquiry College Of Education”, as reprinted by Myschool on 29 October 2026. The grouping is mine. One pair appears twice (CRS/Maths and CRS/Mathematics), and Ecumenics is also spelt “Ecunemics” in one entry.
| Group | Courses on JAMB’s list | Our guide |
|---|---|---|
| Computer | Computer Education/Physics, /Biology, /Chemistry, /Economics, /Integrated Science; Computer Science/Biology; Computer Science/Economics; Computer Science Education/Integrated Science; Computer Science Education/Mathematics | Computer Education |
| Integrated Science | Integrated Science; Integrated Science (Double Major); Biology/Integrated Science; Chemistry/Integrated Science; Integrated Science/Physics; Integrated Science/Mathematics Education; Integrated Science/Economics | Integrated Science |
| Mathematics and sciences | Mathematics/Physics; Chemistry/Mathematics; Biology/Mathematics; Economics/Mathematics | Mathematics and Sciences |
| English and Igbo | English (Double Major); English/Igbo; Economics/English; English/Political Science; English/Social Studies; Igbo/Political Science; Igbo/Social Studies | English and Igbo |
| Christian Religious Studies | CRS/English; CRS/Mathematics (listed twice); CRS/Political Science; CRS/Social Studies | CRS |
| Social Studies, Economics and Political Science | Social Studies; Social Studies (Double Major); Political Science/Social Studies; Economics/Social Studies | Social Studies and Economics |
| Ecumenics | CRS/Ecumenics; Ecumenics/Economics; English/Ecumenics; Social Studies/Ecumenics | Covered on this page |
| Vocational | Business Education | Business Education |
| Early childhood and primary | Early Childhood Care Education; Primary Education Studies; Primary Education (Double Major) | Primary Education; ECCE |
A course being on JAMB’s list does not prove it is admitting this year, so ask ATCOI which ones are open before you pick one on your JAMB registration.
What is Ecumenics?
Ecumenics is the study of the Christian churches and the movement for unity and dialogue between them. JAMB’s brochure has an NCE entry for Social Studies/Ecumenics: Christian Religious Studies plus any other subject in the UTME, and five credits including English Language, Mathematics and CRS at O’level. If you want any Ecumenics pair at ATCOI, a credit in CRS is the subject to have. NCCE also lists a separate “Institute of Ecumenical Education (Thinkers Corner)” among its other NCE-awarding institutions; it looks related to ATCOI by name, but it is a different listing, so do not mix up the two when you register.
ATCOI admission requirements
ATCOI has not published its own O’level list. Two layers apply. The national rule says four credits are enough to skip the UTME. JAMB’s brochure entries for NCE courses, as reprinted by Myschool, usually list five credits including English Language and the teaching subjects, and most add Mathematics. I would plan on five credits including English and Mathematics.
Relevant O’level subjects by course group
| If you want | Credits to have besides English and Mathematics | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| English pairs (including English/Social Studies) | Literature in English, plus the other teaching subject | JAMB brochure NCE entries for English/Social Studies and English/Igbo |
| Igbo pairs | Igbo Language, plus the other teaching subject | JAMB brochure NCE entry for English/Igbo |
| CRS and Ecumenics pairs | CRS, plus the other teaching subject | JAMB brochure entries for Social Studies/Ecumenics and Education and CRS |
| Social Studies pairs | Government or History, plus one more social science | JAMB brochure entry for Social Studies (Double Major) |
| Business Education | Economics, plus a business subject if you have one | JAMB brochure entry for Business Education (degree level) |
| Science, Integrated Science and Computer pairs | The two science subjects you will teach, with Mathematics | Usual college of education pattern; check the course guide |
| Early Childhood Care Education or Primary Education | Any other subjects to reach five credits | JAMB brochure entries (five credits including English) |
This table is my guide to the brochure, not an ATCOI rule. The course guides linked above go into each group.

| NCE application | ₦3,500 |
| CBT centre charge | ₦700 |
| Who puts you forward | The college proposes candidates on CAPS and the Provost recommends them |

These are 2026 amounts and may change for 2027. ATCOI’s own form fee, acceptance fee and tuition have not been published, so get them from the college bursary and pay only against an official invoice.
ATCOI screening
No ATCOI screening date, test or form has been published. Under JAMB’s NCE flow, the college checks the O’level on your JAMB profile, proposes you on CAPS, and the Provost recommends you. Any interview or document check ATCOI adds will be part of its own form process, so ask for it directly.
Worked example (illustrative)
Chukwuemeka (an invented candidate) has WAEC in one sitting: English C6, Mathematics C5, CRS B2, Government C4, Economics C6, Chemistry D7. He wants Social Studies/Ecumenics at ATCOI.
- Credit count: five. Pass on both the four-credit rule and the five-credit brochure line.
- English and Mathematics: both at credit. Pass.
- Ecumenics side: CRS at B2. Pass.
- Social Studies side: Government plus Economics. Pass.
- Is the pair running? Unknown. He should confirm with ATCOI before paying any college fee.
- Cost to JAMB: ₦1,500 for the verification code, ₦3,500 for the NCE application and ₦700 at the centre, on 2026 figures.
How to apply to ATCOI
- Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Buy the O’level verification code: ₦1,500 for one sitting or ₦2,000 for two (2026 figures).
- Register with JAMB for NCE: pay the ₦3,500 application and ₦700 centre charge, then choose African Thinkers Community Of Inquiry College Of Education and your exact course. If you registered for another school, use a JAMB change of institution.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: the college cannot propose you until the result shows on your profile.
- Contact the college: confirm that your course is admitting and get the college form, if it uses one, from the college itself. ATCOI has no official website on record, so be wary of portals or agents that claim to speak for it.
- Accept the offer on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. JAMB allowed four weeks to accept in 2026/2027. Our JAMB CAPS guide shows each screen.
- Pay acceptance and register: confirm the acceptance fee with the college before you pay, and keep every receipt.
Warning
JAMB treats any admission outside CAPS as illegal. Nobody can admit you to ATCOI without JAMB registration, and no college of education can now admit you straight into a degree. If an agent promises either, walk away.
Your chances at ATCOI
ATCOI has not published how many students it admits, so there are no real odds to quote. With no UTME score involved, the things that decide your file are practical:
- Right credits for your pair: pick a course where every one of your credits counts.
- Course running this session: confirm with the college before you choose it on JAMB.
- O’level on CAPS: the college cannot propose you until the result shows on your profile.
- Matching names: your NIN, JAMB profile and O’level certificate should carry the same name.
- Accepting in time: the 2026/2027 window for colleges of education runs until 31 December 2026, and JAMB allowed four weeks to accept an offer.

ATCOI cut-off mark: frequently asked questions
What is the ATCOI cut-off mark for 2027/2028? There is no UTME cut-off for NCE candidates with four or more O’level credits, and ATCOI has never published a figure of its own. You still register with JAMB and are admitted on CAPS.
Does ATCOI offer degree programmes? No college of education can admit into 100 or 200 level of a degree from 2026/2027 under JAMB’s June 2026 guide, so every ATCOI entrant starts at NCE.
How much is the ATCOI admission form? ATCOI has not published a form fee. JAMB’s own NCE charges in 2026 were ₦3,500 plus a ₦700 centre charge, after a ₦1,500 or ₦2,000 O’level verification code.
Is ATCOI accredited? ATCOI is listed as open on the NCCE accredited colleges list. Accreditation of each course is not published, so ask the college about your course before you pay.
Sources and updates
The UTME exemption for four-credit NCE candidates, the CAPS rule, the 31 December 2026 deadline for colleges of education and the four-week acceptance window come from the policy meeting of 11 May 2026, reported by the News Agency of Nigeria, VON, ICIR and TheNigeriaLawyer. NCE costs, the Provost’s recommendation, the awaiting-result rule, the UTME and Direct Entry suspension and the end of degree entry into colleges of education are from JAMB’s June 2026 NCE registration guide, also reported by BusinessDay (22 June 2026); the 23 July 2026 opening is from Nairametrics and Legit. The 2025/2026 minimum of 100 is from JAMB as reported by Nairametrics (8 July 2025). The course list is Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s list for ATCOI, and the Ecumenics requirements are from its reprint of the JAMB brochure entry for Social Studies/Ecumenics. The college’s status and the separate Thinkers Corner listing are from the NCCE accredited colleges list. A general AbsTechConnect profile (March 2025) confirms the college is private and in Enugu State but gives no admission details. Checked on 29 October 2026; this page will be updated if ATCOI publishes an admission notice.
