The Marist Poly cut-off mark for Computer Science is 100, JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics, because Marist Polytechnic, Emene, Enugu has not published its own figure for the course. Computer Science is on JAMB’s course list for Marist, and it was one of the five ND courses on the school’s last admission notice, so you can choose it with confidence. Computer Science is usually the most requested course at a polytechnic, so I would plan with a higher score than 100.
2027/2028 update: Marist Polytechnic cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Below are the official figures with sources, a safe target score, the UTME subjects and O’level credits JAMB lists for polytechnic Computer Science (Physics is the catch), how Marist admits students, a worked example, the CAPS steps and what the ND and the HND options cover.

Marist Poly Computer Science cut-off mark: the official figures
Marist’s latest admission notice, for 2025/2026, listed ND Computer Science but gave no minimum score (maristpolytechnic.edu.ng). When a polytechnic gives no figure, JAMB’s national floor is the rule. JAMB kept the polytechnic minimum at 100 for 2026/2027 (NAN, 11 May 2026), the same as in 2025/2026 (Nairametrics, 8 July 2025).
| Session | Figure | Who set it | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2027/2028 | Not yet fixed; plan with 100 as the floor | JAMB | JAMB’s next policy meeting |
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics | NAN, 11 May 2026 |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics | Nairametrics, 8 July 2025 |
| 2025/2026 | No score stated | Marist admission notice of 26 June 2025 (Computer Science among the courses) | maristpolytechnic.edu.ng |
Marist has never published a departmental cut-off for Computer Science. If a website quotes one, ask for the school notice behind it.
Safe target score (consultant advice)
I would aim for 140 or more. That is my planning number, not a Marist figure. Marist is a smaller private polytechnic, so the pressure is lower than at IMT Enugu, but Computer Science is the course most science candidates want, and 140 keeps backups at IMT and ESPOLY realistic too.
| Your UTME score | What it means for Computer Science at Marist |
|---|---|
| Below 100 | Not eligible for any polytechnic in Nigeria |
| 100 to 119 | Eligible on paper; strong O’level grades will matter |
| 120 to 139 | Possible |
| 140 to 169 | Competitive |
| 170 and above | Strong |
UTME subject combination for Computer Science at Marist Poly
JAMB’s polytechnic brochure entry for Computer Science asks for Mathematics and any two of Geography, Physics, Economics and Chemistry, with Use of English compulsory for every candidate (brochure entry). The entry carries remarks for about 40 polytechnics, including IMT Enugu, Abia Poly and Yabatech, but none for Marist, so the general rule is yours.
| Subject | Status |
|---|---|
| Use of English | Compulsory for every UTME candidate |
| Mathematics | Compulsory for Computer Science |
| Two of Geography, Physics, Economics, Chemistry | Your choice |
| Biology | Not on the list for Computer Science |
The combination I would sit is English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Physics is optional in the UTME, but you need an O’level credit in it anyway, IMT Enugu requires it in the UTME, and Physics with Chemistry also fits Computer Engineering if you switch. English, Mathematics, Economics and Geography is valid for Marist, but it closes IMT’s Computer Science and every engineering course. Our JAMB Chemistry syllabus helps with the Chemistry paper.
O’level requirements for Marist Poly Computer Science
The brochure asks for five credits in Mathematics, a basic science and three other subjects from a list that covers Economics, Geography, Government or History, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, English Language and Typewriting. Credits in English Language and Physics are compulsory. Marist has not published its own O’level rule or sitting limit, so follow the brochure and ask the school whether it accepts two sittings.
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Number of credits | Five |
| Compulsory credits | Mathematics, English Language, Physics |
| Best two others | Chemistry and Further Mathematics, Biology or Economics |
| Sittings | Not published by Marist; two sittings are common at polytechnics, so confirm |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or equivalent (usual polytechnic rule) |
A pass in Physics is not enough for Marist. The brochure lets IMT, Adamawa Poly and Abia Poly accept a Physics pass, but that concession is written only for those three schools.
HND Computer Science and Direct Entry
Marist’s Courses page lists two HND streams: Computer Science (AI option) and Computer Science (Cybersecurity option). HND entry does not go through the UTME; the usual rule is an ND in Computer Science at Lower Credit or better plus a year of industrial training. Marist has not published its HND rule, and our Marist HND guide will cover it. JAMB’s brochure gives no Direct Entry rule for polytechnic Computer Science.
The same page also lists a B.Sc. Computer Science, but it names no university that awards it. A polytechnic cannot award a degree on its own in Nigeria, so ask which university awards it and check that university’s NUC status before you consider it. This page covers the ND.
Marist Poly screening and a worked example
Marist has not published a post-UTME test, screening fee or timetable. Its latest admission notice, for the 2025/2026 session (26 June 2025), listed ND Computer Science with four other ND courses, told applicants to apply through the Admissions menu on the school website (“Apply Now”), and asked candidates who had not chosen Marist to make it their first choice at a JAMB CBT centre. It gave no minimum score, fee or dates. I found no 2026/2027 admission notice on the site when I checked on 30 October 2026. The menu has a “2026/2027 Fees” link, but it opens the 2024/2025 fees page.
Polytechnics of Marist’s size usually screen with your UTME score and O’level result, sometimes with a short interview. Marist has not described its method, so ask when you apply.
Worked example (illustrative)
Somto scored 146 with English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Her WAEC result, one sitting, reads English C4, Mathematics B3, Physics C5, Chemistry C6, Further Mathematics B2. She clears JAMB’s 100 and my 140 target and holds the three compulsory credits.
Many polytechnics rank ND applicants with a 50/50 mix of UTME and O’level. Using that only as an illustration: the UTME half is 146 ÷ 8 = 18.25. With A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6 and C6 = 5, her five grades give 7 + 8 + 6 + 5 + 9 = 35. Her illustrative total is 53.25 out of 100. Marist has published no aggregate formula, so use this only to compare yourself with others.
If Somto had written Biology in the UTME, her 146 would count for nothing in Computer Science, because Biology is not on JAMB’s list for the course.
How to apply for Computer Science at Marist Poly
- Create your JAMB profile: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line you will use for JAMB. The reply is your profile code.
- Choose Marist Polytechnic and Computer Science: make Marist your first choice. If you registered for another school, use a JAMB change of institution at a JAMB CBT centre, as Marist’s own notice advised.
- Write the UTME: sit the right subject combination (below), then check your JAMB result.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB accredited centre, and upload both results if you used two sittings. Marist cannot recommend you on CAPS without them.
- Apply on the Marist website: use the Admissions menu on maristpolytechnic.edu.ng and its “Apply Now” link, and pay only the amount the school’s own page or portal (portal.maristpolytechnic.edu.ng) gives you.
- Accept on CAPS: when Marist recommends you and JAMB approves, accept the offer. Under JAMB’s 2026 rules an offer not accepted within four weeks can be withdrawn. Our JAMB CAPS guide shows each screen.
- Pay acceptance and register: print your JAMB admission letter, then pay the acceptance and school fees through the school. Marist has not published 2026/2027 amounts.
JAMB set 31 December 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education, so the current cycle runs until 31 December 2026. If you picked Computer Science at another school and want Marist instead, see JAMB change of course together with change of institution.
Warning
Every valid ND admission at Marist must show on JAMB CAPS, and JAMB has said admissions outside CAPS are illegal. Pay only through the school’s own website or portal, never into a personal account.
Your chances of getting Computer Science at Marist Poly
Marist publishes no intake or applicant numbers, so this is my judgement. As a private polytechnic in Emene, it draws fewer applicants than IMT or ESPOLY, but Computer Science was the first course named on its 2025/2026 notice and it is the course most polytechnic science candidates ask for first. A first-choice candidate with 130 or more, credits in English, Mathematics and Physics and a quick CAPS upload should be in a good position. Below 120, keep a backup ready.
| Backup option | JAMB listing | Why it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Marist Statistics | Listed for Marist | Same school; Mathematics based |
| Marist Computer Engineering | Listed for Marist | Needs Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in the UTME |
| IMT Computer Science | Listed for IMT | IMT requires Physics in the UTME |
| ESPOLY Computer Science | Listed for ESPOLY | State polytechnic in Enugu |
What you study in ND Computer Science
Marist’s course descriptions are cut short on its website. A polytechnic ND in Computer Science follows NBTE’s national curriculum, and the usual pattern is:
- Programming, from problem solving and a first language to object-oriented ideas
- Computer hardware, assembly and maintenance
- Mathematics and statistics for computing
- Databases, operating systems, networking and web work
- Communication in English, entrepreneurship and other general ND courses
- A final project
Between the first and second year you do SIWES, an industrial attachment in an IT unit, a computer business or an office. Your ND is graded Distinction, Upper Credit, Lower Credit or Pass, and the grade decides whether you can take Marist’s AI or Cybersecurity HND.
Duration and accreditation
A full-time ND takes two years (four semesters); the HND takes two more years after the ND and a year of industrial training.
Marist Polytechnic is S/No 85 in NBTE’s 2020 Directory of Accredited Programmes, listed as a private polytechnic at Umuchigbo-Ije Nike, Emene, approved by government in 2016. The school’s home page also reported an NBTE resource inspection visit in September 2025. Whether ND Computer Science itself holds current NBTE accreditation is not confirmed: the school publishes no accreditation statement and the directory’s programme tables could not be read. Ask the department for its NBTE accreditation letter before paying school fees.

Mistakes to avoid
- Writing Biology in the UTME: it is not one of the subjects JAMB lists for polytechnic Computer Science.
- Having only a pass in Physics: Marist has no Physics waiver on the brochure, so you need a credit.
- Not making Marist first choice: the school’s own notice asks for it.
- Leaving your O’level off CAPS: the school cannot recommend you without it.
- Ignoring the four-week acceptance window on CAPS.
Marist Poly Computer Science cut-off mark: FAQs
What is the cut-off mark for Computer Science in Marist Polytechnic? Marist has not published a Computer Science figure, so JAMB’s polytechnic minimum of 100 applies. I suggest 140 or more to be competitive.
Can I study Computer Science at Marist Poly without Physics? You can leave Physics out of the UTME by sitting Mathematics with two of Geography, Economics and Chemistry. You still need an O’level credit in Physics, which JAMB makes compulsory for this course.
Is Marist Polytechnic admission for 2026/2027 out? I found no 2026/2027 admission notice on Marist’s website on 30 October 2026; the latest is for 2025/2026 (26 June 2025). JAMB’s 2026/2027 polytechnic admission cycle runs until 31 December 2026, so check the Admissions menu regularly.
Does Marist Poly offer HND Computer Science? Yes. Its Courses page lists HND Computer Science with an AI option and a Cybersecurity option. Entry is by ND result, not by UTME.
Sources and updates
The 2025/2026 admission notice (26 June 2025), the course list, the portal address and the fees menu come from maristpolytechnic.edu.ng and its Courses page, checked on 30 October 2026. The JAMB course list is the Myschool reprint of JAMB’s list for Marist Polytechnic (six courses: Business Administration and Management, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, Science Laboratory Technology and Statistics).
