The Marist Poly Nutrition and Dietetics cut-off mark would be JAMB’s polytechnic minimum of 100, the 2026/2027 floor for every polytechnic. Marist Polytechnic, Emene has never published a departmental figure for the course. The course is also missing from JAMB’s course list for Marist, and that decides whether you can be admitted into it at all.
2027/2028 update: Marist Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Marist’s own website lists ND Nutrition and Dietetics, and also a B.Sc. Human Nutrition and Dietetics. But Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s Marist list, checked on 30 October 2026, has only six courses, and Nutrition and Dietetics is not one of them. For a UTME candidate, that means you cannot pick Marist and Nutrition and Dietetics together on your JAMB registration, and Marist cannot recommend you for it on CAPS. Treat the course’s current status as unverified and confirm with the school in writing before paying for anything.
This page explains what that means, gives the JAMB brochure rules for ND Nutrition and Dietetics, and lists the real routes into the course for 2027/2028, at Marist’s sister courses and at other schools.

Is Nutrition and Dietetics on Marist Poly’s JAMB course list?
No. The table below sets JAMB’s list for Marist (as Myschool reprints it) beside the ND courses on the school’s own website. Five courses appear on both. Four, including Nutrition and Dietetics, appear only on the school’s page. Statistics is the odd one the other way round.

What this means for UTME candidates
- You cannot register the pairing: JAMB’s registration system only offers the courses on an institution’s list.
- CAPS cannot carry the offer: a polytechnic recommends candidates on CAPS against listed courses. An offer for an unlisted course has nowhere to go.
- Offers outside CAPS are not valid: JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting said admissions done outside CAPS are illegal, and such students can be denied their certificates and NYSC later.
- The list can change: new programmes are added once NBTE approves them and JAMB updates the brochure. Myschool’s reprint can lag behind JAMB, so check the live JAMB e-brochure when you register.
Marist did not include Nutrition and Dietetics in its 2025/2026 admission notice either. Its home page reported an NBTE resource inspection in September 2025, which is the kind of visit that comes before new programmes are approved, but the school has not said which programmes it covered. I would not plan a 2027 UTME around this course at Marist unless the school shows you that it is on JAMB’s list.
Nutrition and Dietetics cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB minimum UTME score for polytechnics | Official (JAMB policy meeting, NAN, 11 May 2026) |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB minimum UTME score for polytechnics | Official (Nairametrics, 8 July 2025) |
| Any year | None | Marist departmental cut-off for Nutrition and Dietetics | Never published |
The 100 applies to courses a polytechnic can admit into through CAPS. Until Nutrition and Dietetics is on Marist’s JAMB list, the figure only shows what you would need if a place existed.
Safe target score for ND Nutrition and Dietetics (my advice)
Marist has published no merit data, so this is my advice for anyone aiming at ND Nutrition and Dietetics at any polytechnic in the South East.
| Your UTME score | My read |
|---|---|
| Below 100 | Not eligible for full-time ND at any polytechnic |
| 100 to 139 | Eligible on paper; fine for a private polytechnic, risky at a busy public one |
| 140 to 169 | A solid score for ND Nutrition and Dietetics |
| 170 and above | Comfortable, and close to what some universities ask for related degrees |
I would aim for 160 in the 2027 UTME. That keeps an ND at a polytechnic that has the course on its JAMB list well within reach, and leaves a university degree in nutrition open if you change plans.
UTME subject combination and O’level for ND Nutrition and Dietetics
These are JAMB’s rules for ND Nutrition and Dietetics as Myschool reprints the polytechnic brochure (Agriculture category). There is no Marist remark because Marist is not on the course page.
| Requirement | What JAMB’s brochure says |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English (compulsory) + Chemistry, Biology and Agricultural Science |
| O’level | Five credits: Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science/Health Science, and any three of Food and Nutrition, Mathematics, Economics/Commerce, Physics, English Language, Home Management |
| English and Mathematics | Credit passes in English Language and Mathematics are required |
| Direct Entry | Not listed on the reprint |
Schools with their own rules
Several polytechnics have remarks that change the UTME line. The ones most useful to South East candidates:
- Imo State Polytechnic (IMOPOLY): Use of English, Chemistry, Mathematics/Physics and Biology/Agricultural Science, with a credit in Chemistry.
- Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH): Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and one of Mathematics or Physics.
- Federal Polytechnic Ilaro (ILAROPOLY): Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and one of Food and Nutrition or Physics.
- Federal Polytechnic Bauchi (BAUCHIPOLY): a wider choice that includes Mathematics, Physics, Geography, Economics and Home Economics.
If your school did not offer Agricultural Science, Biology plus Mathematics or Physics fits the IMOPOLY and YABATECH lines. Write Chemistry and Biology whatever you choose; every version of the course needs them.
Worked example (illustrative)
Chiamaka lives in Emene and wants ND Nutrition and Dietetics close to home. She scored 172 in English, Chemistry, Biology and Physics, and has credits in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Food and Nutrition and Physics.
- Marist: she cannot select Nutrition and Dietetics at Marist on JAMB, so the course is closed to her through CAPS unless JAMB adds it.
- Other polytechnics: her Physics in place of Agricultural Science fits the IMOPOLY and YABATECH remarks, and her O’level meets the base rule.
- Universities: 172 clears the 150 university minimum for 2026, so she can also consider a degree in nutrition (check that course’s own UTME line).
- At Marist: Science Laboratory Technology is on Marist’s JAMB list, but its base UTME line is any three of Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science and Physics. Her Chemistry would not count there, so she would need to plan that course separately.
Alternatives for 2027/2028 candidates
At Marist Polytechnic
- Marist Poly Science Laboratory Technology cut-off mark: on JAMB’s list (UTME: any three of Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science and Physics), and Marist lists an HND SLT (Microbiology option).
- Marist Poly cut-off mark for Computer Science: on JAMB’s list and in the 2025/2026 advert.
- Marist Poly HND admission requirements: the HND routes Marist lists.
Nutrition and Dietetics elsewhere
- ND at a polytechnic that has it on its JAMB list: Imo State Polytechnic is the closest school named on JAMB’s Nutrition and Dietetics page; Ilaro, Yaba, Bauchi, Kaduna and Auchi also appear there. Confirm on the e-brochure that your chosen school is listed.
- Degree in Enugu: ESUT Human Nutrition and Dietetics cut-off mark and SUMAS Human Nutrition and Dietetics cut-off mark.
- Degree at UNN: UNN Nutrition and Dietetics cut-off mark.
How admission works at Marist Polytechnic, step by step
These are the steps for any ND course that is on Marist’s JAMB list. For Nutrition and Dietetics, step 2 is where the process stops.
- Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register for the UTME: because Nutrition and Dietetics is not on JAMB’s Marist list, you cannot pick that pairing. Register for a course that is on the list, or for Nutrition and Dietetics at a school that has it on its list.
- Clear the minimum: 100 is JAMB’s floor for polytechnics. Aim well above it (see the safe target above).
- Upload your O’level on CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre. A result that is not on CAPS cannot be used for your admission. Marist’s website also has a JAMB CBT centre link.
- Make Marist your choice: Marist’s 2025/2026 advert asked applicants who had not chosen it to make it first choice at a JAMB CBT centre. Our JAMB change of institution guide shows the steps.
- Apply on the Marist portal: the Apply Now button on the official admissions page goes to portal.maristpolytechnic.edu.ng. Marist has not published a form price or screening date for 2026/2027.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status and accept or reject the offer. JAMB says candidates have four weeks to do this. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay the acceptance fee and register: Marist has not published its acceptance fee. Pay only through the portal or a channel the school confirms in writing, and keep every receipt.
Warning
Marist Polytechnic’s official contacts are on maristpolytechnic.edu.ng (info@maristpolytechnic.edu.ng). Do not pay anyone who offers to “process” your admission, and do not accept an admission letter that never shows up on JAMB CAPS. JAMB has said admissions done outside CAPS are illegal.
JAMB fixed 31 December 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education.
About Marist Polytechnic and the course
Marist Polytechnic is a private Catholic polytechnic run by the Marist Brothers at Umuchigbo Iji-Nike, Emene, Enugu State. NBTE’s 2020 Directory of Accredited Programmes lists it as a private polytechnic approved in 2016. Its Rector is Rev. Br. Anochie Okechukwu Venantius (PhD), and its courses page groups programmes under five schools: Computing and Information Technology, Engineering Technology, Environmental Technology, Health, Allied and Applied Sciences, and Management Sciences.
What ND Nutrition and Dietetics covers
- Food chemistry, human physiology and the nutrients the body needs at each stage of life.
- Diet planning for healthy people and for conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.
- Community nutrition, food safety and food service management.
- Laboratory work, SIWES placement and a final project.
An ND normally runs for two years full time. Graduates work in hospital diet kitchens, catering and food service, community health and NGO nutrition programmes, and food companies, and many go on to an HND or a degree.
Accreditation
NBTE accreditation of ND Nutrition and Dietetics at Marist is not confirmed. Marist does not publish programme accreditation, and the course is not on JAMB’s list. The B.Sc. Human Nutrition and Dietetics on Marist’s page names no partner university, and a polytechnic cannot award a degree on its own. Ask the school which university awards it, then check that university’s own listing.
Mistakes Nutrition and Dietetics applicants make
- Trusting a school website over JAMB: the JAMB list decides what you can be admitted into through CAPS.
- Skipping Chemistry or Biology: both are in every version of the UTME line.
- Missing a Mathematics credit: the brochure requires credits in English Language and Mathematics.
- Paying for a course not on CAPS: an admission JAMB cannot see can cost you your certificate and NYSC.
For the next UTME, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and how to check your JAMB result.
Marist Poly Nutrition and Dietetics cut-off mark: frequently asked questions
Does Marist Polytechnic offer Nutrition and Dietetics? Marist lists ND Nutrition and Dietetics on its own website, but the course is not on JAMB’s Marist list as Myschool reprints it, so UTME candidates cannot be admitted into it through CAPS. Confirm its status with the school before paying.
What is the JAMB subject combination for Nutrition and Dietetics in polytechnic? Use of English, Chemistry, Biology and Agricultural Science. Some schools accept Mathematics or Physics in place of Agricultural Science, including Imo Poly and Yabatech.
Can I change to Science Laboratory Technology at Marist? Yes, if your UTME subjects fit. SLT is on Marist’s JAMB list, but its base line is any three of Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science and Physics; our JAMB change of course guide explains how to switch.
Is 130 a good score for Nutrition and Dietetics in polytechnic? It clears JAMB’s 100, which is enough to be considered at many private polytechnics. For a busy public polytechnic, I would want 150 or more.
Sources and updates
Marist’s place on JAMB’s list comes from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB institution course list (Marist Polytechnic, six courses, checked 30 October 2026). The programme list, the five schools, the Apply Now link and the fees menu are from the official Marist Polytechnic website (home, admissions and courses pages, checked 30 October 2026; the admissions page was last modified on 31 August 2026). The 2025/2026 programme list comes from Marist’s notice “Admission for 2025/2026 Academic Session” (26 June 2025). NBTE’s 2020 Directory of Accredited Programmes lists Marist as a private polytechnic (serial 85, P.M.B. 104 Emene, approved 2016). The 100 minimum, the 31 December 2026 deadline, the four-week CAPS window and the CAPS-only rule are from NAN, 11 May 2026; the 2025/2026 figure is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025). The UTME, O’level and remark details come from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB polytechnic brochure page for Nutrition and Dietetics (Agriculture category, checked 30 October 2026); the copies under other categories loaded empty.
Checked on 30 October 2026. Marist had not published a 2026/2027 admission notice on its website. When it does, or when JAMB sets the 2027 minimum, this page will be updated.
