Madonna University Akpugo Cut-Off Mark for Civil Engineering 2027/2028: Requirements, Subject Combination and Screening

Madonna University’s official 2026/2027 cut-off is 150, and it applies to Civil Engineering at its Akpugo engineering campus. See my safe target, subjects, Direct Entry, free forms, the ₦30,000 medical test and CAPS steps.

The Madonna University Akpugo cut off mark for Civil Engineering is 150 in the UTME for 2026/2027. Madonna’s official admission page sets 150 as its general minimum and gives higher figures only for Law, Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing, so Civil Engineering at the Akpugo campus in Enugu State takes the 150 line, which matches JAMB’s national minimum for universities. My advice is to aim for 160 or more.

2027/2028 update: Madonna University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Civil Engineering is on Madonna’s own current programme list and on Madonna’s course list in the JAMB brochure, where you register it as Civil Engineering under Madonna University. Madonna’s Faculty of Engineering page places the faculty at its Akpugo Campus in Enugu State. What I could not confirm is the programme’s current NUC result or any COREN accreditation, so ask the faculty about both before you pay acceptance.

2026/2027150Madonna’s general minimum; only Law, Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing carry higher figuresOfficial: Madonna admission page and undergraduate page
2026/2027Not publishedA separate figure for Civil EngineeringNeither official page names an engineering course, so the 150 line applies
2025/2026Not confirmedMadonna figure for that sessionNo Madonna notice found

Madonna’s admission page says all prospective undergraduates who “scored up to 150” in the most recent UTME qualify to apply, and lists Law 190, Medicine 180, Pharmacy 160 and Nursing 170. Its undergraduate page says 150 applies generally and puts those four courses at 200 instead. The two pages disagree only on the higher courses; engineering is 150 on both. A blog figure of 160 for Madonna that circulated earlier in 2026 is out of date, because the official page now says 150. Aiming for 160 or more is my advice, not a Madonna rule.

Safe target score for Civil Engineering at Madonna (my advice)

These bands are my judgement as an admissions adviser. Madonna’s only published figure for engineering is the 150 line.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Civil Engineering at Madonna Akpugo
Below 150Not eligible this session
150 to 159Eligible on Madonna’s official 150 line; a realistic chance if every O’level credit is in place, so apply early
160 to 189My safe target; good chance with the right O’level
190 and aboveComfortable, and it keeps a public university such as UNN open as a backup

Civil Engineering is usually one of the busier engineering choices, because it leads straight into building and road work. Madonna publishes no applicant numbers, and at a private university the right subjects and the ability to pay often matter as much as the score. A 160 or better with clean credits in the four core subjects is what I would want before counting on a place. That is my reading, not a Madonna statistic.

UTME subject combination and O’level for Civil Engineering at Madonna

RequirementCivil Engineering at Madonna
UTME subjectsUse of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry (JAMB brochure general line)
O’level (JAMB general line)Five SSCE credits including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and one science subject
Madonna remark in the brochureNone. The general lines apply
Madonna’s own wordingMadonna’s Civil Engineering requirements were not on any page I could open. Its Mechanical Engineering page in the same faculty asks for five SSCE or GCE credits including English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and I would expect the same for Civil
Safe set I would haveEnglish, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Further Mathematics or Biology
Sittings and awaiting resultsNot more than two sittings; candidates awaiting results may apply, provided the results are available on resumption (Madonna admission page)

The fifth O’level credit is “one science subject” in JAMB’s line. Biology, Further Mathematics or Agricultural Science are the usual candidates; Technical Drawing helps with the course itself, but check with Admissions before you rely on it as your science. Physics and Chemistry must be credits, not passes, because no remark in the brochure waives them for Madonna.

The UTME combination leaves no room for choice: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with Use of English. If you are preparing for the 2027 UTME, our JAMB Chemistry syllabus guide covers the subject most engineering candidates find hardest to score in.

Direct Entry into Civil Engineering at Madonna

Also neededUTME-level O’level creditsAsk Admissions for the entry level

An ND in Civil Engineering Technology at upper credit is the most common Direct Entry route into this course in the South East. JAMB’s line says ND or HND holders come in “at appropriate levels”, which in practice usually means 200 level for an ND, but Madonna decides this, so ask before you pay.

Madonna screening for Civil Engineering: what happens after JAMB

Madonna’s official admission page sets out the 2026/2027 screening. Screening and admission forms are free. Every fresh 2026/2027 applicant pays a ₦30,000 medical test fee: you generate an invoice on the portal at madonna.skool-board.com (the invoice number starts with “MNT”) and pay it through Quickteller or at any commercial bank. Your O’level must come from not more than two sittings, and candidates awaiting results may apply, provided the results are available on resumption. Legit.ng reported the same medical test fee on 14 September 2026.

Madonna’s undergraduate page adds that selected candidates must undergo a medical examination and an oral interview at the admissions office of the campus they chose, so ask whether yours holds at Akpugo. Neither official page describes a written post-UTME test or publishes an aggregate formula.

Worked example (illustrative)

Madonna has not published an aggregate formula, so this example only checks eligibility and the one confirmed screening cost. Take Obinna, who scored 176 with English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and has credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Further Mathematics.

  1. Score check: 176 minus 150 = 26 above Madonna’s official 150 line, and 16 above my 160 target.
  2. UTME check: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry match the general line.
  3. O’level check: the four core credits plus Further Mathematics as his science subject.
  4. Confirmed screening cost: ₦30,000 medical test fee on Madonna’s portal.

Amaka scored 158 with the right four subjects, but has only a pass in Chemistry. Her score is above 150, but the Chemistry pass is the bigger problem, since JAMB’s line wants a credit and has no Madonna waiver. She should sit Chemistry in the next NECO or WAEC GCE before clearance, Her 158 already clears Madonna’s official 150 line, so the Chemistry credit is the only thing to fix.

2026/2027 admission deadline (private universities)30 November 2026JAMB, 11 May 2026

JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities, which covers Madonna, at its policy meeting of 11 May 2026. JAMB usually announces the 2027/2028 dates at its next policy meeting. Madonna’s engineering fees were not on any page I could open, so get the full 2027/2028 figure in writing from the university before you accept, and budget for hostel and feeding on top of tuition until Madonna says otherwise.

How to apply for Civil Engineering at Madonna Akpugo, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME correctly: choose Madonna University as your institution and Civil Engineering as your course, with Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. JAMB lists Madonna as one university, not one entry per campus. If Madonna was not your first choice, do a JAMB change of institution.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: at a JAMB-accredited CBT centre, once your result is out. Check that English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry all show credits.
  4. Apply on Madonna’s portal: the forms are free. Start from madonnauniversity.edu.ng/admission, create your applicant account at madonna.skool-board.com and choose Civil Engineering. Generate the ₦30,000 medical test invoice on the portal and pay it only through Quickteller or a commercial bank.
  5. Attend the medical examination and oral interview: at the admissions office of the campus you chose; for engineering, ask whether it holds at Akpugo. Keep your receipts.
  6. Accept the offer on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept only when it shows Madonna University and Civil Engineering. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  7. Pay acceptance and fees on the official portal: amounts were not published in the sources I reached, so get them from the Bursary.
  8. Clear at Akpugo: bring your O’level result, JAMB result slip and admission letter, birth certificate, certificate of origin, NIN slip, passport photographs and all payment receipts. Ask Admissions for their exact list.

Warning

Your Madonna admission is real only when it appears on your JAMB CAPS page. Pay the medical test fee, acceptance and school fees only through Madonna’s official portal, never into a personal account, and ignore anyone who offers to secure an engineering place for money.

Studying Civil Engineering at Madonna University Akpugo

Madonna University is a Catholic private university with three campuses. Its campus page describes Okija in Anambra State as the founding campus and administrative centre, Elele in Rivers State as the clinical and professional training hub, and Akpugo in Enugu State as the campus for engineering and emerging sciences. Akpugo is in Nkanu West Local Government Area. The Faculty of Engineering page is tagged Akpugo Campus and lists six departments: Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical/Electronics, Mechanical and Petroleum Engineering.

The faculty page describes Civil Engineering as covering infrastructure planning, structural systems, surveying and sustainable construction. In 2026 the Standards Organisation of Nigeria referred on X to the Department of Civil Engineering, Madonna University Nigeria, Akpugo Campus, which matches the faculty page. Civil Engineering is a five-year B.Eng. in Nigeria, with industrial training (SIWES) before the final year.

On accreditation, the faculty page carries an “NUC Approved” badge, which tells you the programmes were approved to run. It does not give an accreditation result for Civil Engineering. I found NUC programme reports for other Madonna courses from the November 2024 exercise (Anatomy, Physiology, Marketing and Business Education, all Full), but none for an engineering programme, and the NUC’s published results list could not be read as far as Madonna. The faculty page mentions COREN only as the professional standard its curricula follow and does not say Civil Engineering is COREN accredited. So both the NUC result and COREN status are not confirmed. For an engineering degree this matters, because COREN registration after graduation depends on it, so ask the department for its latest NUC and COREN letters.

What you study

  • Years one and two: engineering mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering drawing, workshop practice and basic mechanics.
  • Structures: strength of materials, structural analysis and the design of reinforced concrete and steel structures.
  • Ground and water: soil mechanics, foundation engineering, hydraulics, water supply and environmental engineering.
  • Transport and survey: highway and transportation engineering, surveying and construction management.
  • Final stages: SIWES industrial training and a final-year project.

Careers

Civil engineers work as site and structural engineers with construction firms, as road and drainage engineers with ministries of works and agencies, as consultants, and in water supply, real estate development and project management. Registration with COREN, after graduation and the required experience, is what lets you practise and sign off as an engineer in Nigeria.

Mistakes that cost Civil Engineering applicants a Madonna place

  • Leaving out Chemistry or Physics in the UTME: the combination is fixed for engineering.
  • A pass instead of a credit in Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry: the brochure has no Madonna waiver for this course.
  • Paying the medical fee anywhere but the official portal: Madonna’s admission page says it is paid with a portal invoice through Quickteller or a bank.
  • Assuming the campus: engineering sits at Akpugo, Enugu State, not Okija or Elele.
  • Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: acceptance, fees and clearance come next.

If you are sitting the UTME again, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and how to check your JAMB result. If you registered the wrong course, see our JAMB change of course guide.

Madonna University Akpugo cut off mark for Civil Engineering: FAQs

What is the cut off mark for Civil Engineering at Madonna University? 150, the general minimum on Madonna’s official 2026/2027 admission page. No separate Civil Engineering figure is published. My advice is to aim for 160 or more.

Is Civil Engineering at Madonna in Akpugo or Okija? Madonna’s Faculty of Engineering page is tagged Akpugo Campus, Enugu State, and its campus page describes Akpugo as the engineering campus.

Does Madonna University write Post-UTME for Civil Engineering? No written post-UTME test is described on Madonna’s official pages. Screening forms are free, every fresh 2026/2027 applicant pays a ₦30,000 medical test fee, and selected candidates do a medical examination and oral interview at the campus they chose.

Is Madonna Civil Engineering accredited by COREN? Not confirmed. The faculty page shows an NUC Approved badge but gives no NUC result or COREN accreditation for Civil Engineering, so ask the department for its letters.

Sources and updates

Madonna’s three campuses and Akpugo’s engineering focus come from its Campus and Facilities page; the Akpugo tag, the six departments, the department descriptions, the NUC Approved badge and the COREN mention come from the Faculty of Engineering page (checked 29 and 30 October 2026). The Department of Civil Engineering at Akpugo is also named in a 2026 post by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria on X (seen in search results). The Mechanical Engineering page in the same faculty is the source for the O’level and Direct Entry wording I compare against. Civil Engineering appears under that name on Madonna’s course list in the JAMB brochure, and the UTME, O’level and Direct Entry lines come from the brochure entry as reprinted by Myschool (checked 30 October 2026), which has no Madonna remark. Madonna’s 2026/2027 rules (the 150 general cut-off, the higher figures for Law, Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing, free forms, the ₦30,000 medical test fee and how it is paid, the madonna.skool-board.com portal, the two-sitting O’level rule and awaiting-result applications) come from the official admission page (checked 30 October 2026); the conflicting 200 figure for those four courses and the medical examination and oral interview come from the official undergraduate page. Legit.ng reported the same medical test fee on 14 September 2026. An o3schools guide (24 January 2026) gave 160 for Madonna; the official page now says 150, so this page no longer uses that figure. The national minimum of 150 and the 30 November 2026 deadline for private universities come from JAMB’s policy meeting of 11 May 2026, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria. NUC reports for other Madonna programmes are on the NUC website. Safe target scores, the odds discussion and the worked example are my advice as an admissions adviser, not Madonna figures. This page will be updated when Madonna publishes its 2027/2028 cut-off, its fees or an accreditation result for this programme.
