Marist Poly HND Admission Requirements 2027/2028, Courses and Form

Marist Poly HND admission needs an ND at Lower Credit or better plus one year of industrial training, under NBTE’s rules. See the five HND courses Marist lists, how to apply on its portal and what it has not published.

To get into a Marist Poly HND programme you need a relevant National Diploma with at least a Lower Credit, at least one year of industrial training or work experience after the ND, and the O’level credits required for the ND. That is NBTE’s entry rule for HND in the polytechnics it regulates. Marist Polytechnic, Emene lists five HND programmes on its website but has not published its own HND requirements, form price or screening dates.

2027/2028 update: Marist Poly HND admission requirements and entry rules usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the rules on this page are what 2027/2028 applicants should plan with. They come from the latest information available for 2026/2027. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

HND admission does not use the UTME or a JAMB cut-off mark. You apply to the polytechnic with your ND result. Below are the requirements in detail, the five HND courses Marist lists, how to apply on its portal, a worked example and the questions to ask before you pay.

Marist Poly HND admission requirements in detail

NBTE publishes a document called Reviewed Entry Requirements for HND Programmes in NBTE Regulated Institutions. Its main rules, as they apply to the courses Marist offers:

RequirementWhat NBTE says
ND gradeA minimum of Lower Credit in the discipline, from an NBTE-accredited ND programme
Industrial trainingAt least one year of post-ND cognate work experience or industrial training
Pass NDEngineering and science: an ND at Pass level plus at least two years of post-ND work experience may be considered
Management coursesSome management sections use a minimum CGPA of 2.50 in place of the class name
O’levelAll the requirements for admission into the ND (five credits at not more than two sittings, including English Language and Mathematics)
ND in a different fieldAdmitted first as Post-ND (ND II) before going on to the HND

ND classes and CGPA

NBTE grades the ND on a 4.00 scale. A Lower Credit usually means a CGPA of 2.50 to 2.99, Upper Credit 3.00 to 3.49 and Distinction 3.50 and above; a Pass is 2.00 to 2.49. Your ND certificate or statement of result shows your class.

Documents to have ready

  • ND certificate or statement of result, and your ND transcript if the school asks.
  • Industrial training (IT) letter or proof of post-ND work experience.
  • O’level result(s), no more than two sittings.
  • Birth certificate or age declaration, local government identification and passport photographs.
  • NIN, which most portals now ask for.

The list above is general polytechnic practice; Marist has not published its own. Check the portal before you go.

HND courses at Marist Polytechnic

Marist’s Courses page lists five HND programmes. The ND that normally leads to each is in the second column.

HND programme (as Marist lists it)Usual ND entryMarist ND page
Business Administration and ManagementND Business Administration and ManagementBAM cut-off mark
Computer Science (AI option)ND Computer ScienceComputer Science cut-off mark
Computer Science (Cybersecurity option)ND Computer ScienceComputer Science cut-off mark
Electrical/Electronics (Power option)ND Electrical/Electronics EngineeringEEE cut-off mark
Science Laboratory Technology (Microbiology option)ND Science Laboratory TechnologySLT cut-off mark

Marist lists no HND in Computer Engineering, Statistics, Estate Management, Nutrition and Dietetics, Public Administration or Biomedical Engineering Technology. If your ND is in one of those, you would need another polytechnic for the HND, or a Post-ND route into a related HND if the school allows it.

NBTE approval of each HND option at Marist is not confirmed. Marist does not publish programme accreditation, and NBTE’s 2020 directory lists the school (private, approved 2016) without readable programme tables. Before you pay, ask the school to show you the current NBTE status of your HND, because it affects NYSC mobilisation and how employers treat the certificate.

Marist Poly HND form, price and screening

Marist has not published an HND admission notice for 2026/2027. Its most recent notice on the website, for 2025/2026 (26 June 2025), covered ND programmes only. The admissions page (last modified 31 August 2026) has an Apply Now button that opens the portal, and a menu link marked 2026/2027 fees that actually opens the 2024-2025 fees page.

A worked example (illustrative)

Ngozi finished ND Science Laboratory Technology with a CGPA of 2.71 (Lower Credit). She did her one-year IT in a hospital laboratory in Enugu, and her WAEC has credits in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

  1. ND grade: 2.71 is a Lower Credit, which meets NBTE’s minimum.
  2. Experience: one year of IT in a laboratory fits the industrial training rule.
  3. O’level: she meets the ND SLT entry credits, including English and Mathematics.
  4. Course: Marist lists HND SLT with a Microbiology option, which suits her hospital laboratory background.

Had Ngozi finished with a Pass (say 2.30), NBTE’s rule for science courses would want two years of post-ND experience before she could be considered.

Duration and what comes after

The full-time HND normally lasts two years. HND graduates are mobilised for NYSC, can apply for graduate-level jobs that accept HND, and can go on to a postgraduate diploma or a top-up degree where a university allows it. Marist also lists some B.Sc. and B.Eng. programmes on its website, but names no partner university, and a polytechnic cannot award degrees alone. Ask which university awards them before you treat them as a next step.

Mistakes HND applicants make

  • Applying with a Pass and no extra experience: NBTE asks for two years of post-ND work in that case.
  • Skipping the IT year: one year of industrial training is a standard HND condition.
  • Choosing an HND outside your ND field: NBTE says such candidates go through Post-ND (ND II) first.
  • Paying an agent: pay only on the Marist portal.
