Maduka University Cut-Off Mark for Computer Science 2027/2028: Requirements, Subject Combination and Screening

Maduka University accepts 150 in the UTME for Computer Science, its fully accredited B.Sc. See the JAMB subjects, O’level rule, safe target score, reported fees and the CAPS steps.

The Maduka University cut off mark for Computer Science is 150 in the UTME. That is JAMB’s national minimum for universities in 2026, and Maduka applies it to every programme: its 2026/2027 admission notice gives the cut-off as 150, “as approved for the 2026/2027 session”. Maduka has never published a separate departmental cut-off for Computer Science, so 150 is the line you must clear to apply.

2027/2028 update: Maduka University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Computer Science is on Maduka’s current programme list, in the university’s computing unit (called the College of Computing and Informatics in a July 2026 list), and it is one of the seven Maduka programmes that the university says received full NUC accreditation after the October to December 2025 exercise. On JAMB, the course is registered as Computer Science. Below you will find the figures, a safe target score (my advice), the exact UTME and O’level subjects, how admission works at Maduka, reported fees, and the CAPS steps.

One thing I could not open myself: Maduka’s course list in the JAMB brochure. Myschool’s copy was not reachable, and Maduka’s website loads nothing readable. A third-party copy of the list (universitycourses.ng, updated March 2026) includes Computer Science. Even so, search for the course in the JAMB e-brochure or on the registration screen at your CBT centre and make sure Maduka University appears under it before you pay.

Maduka is a young private university (its first session opened on 23 November 2023), and in every cycle so far it has taken JAMB’s minimum as its own. I found no year in which it set a higher bar for Computer Science. That could change as demand grows, so treat 150 as the entry line and look at the safe target below for what I would actually aim for.

Safe target score for Computer Science at Maduka (my advice)

Maduka has not published these bands. They are my judgement as an admissions adviser, based on how private universities in the South East usually fill science courses.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Computer Science at Maduka
Below 150Not eligible this session. Consider Maduka’s IJMB or pre-degree route, or rewrite the UTME
150 to 169Eligible. Make sure your O’level has credits in Mathematics, Physics and English
170 to 199Comfortable for a private university
200 and aboveStrong. It also keeps public options such as UNN or ESUT open as a backup

Computer Science is usually the most requested course in any Nigerian computing faculty, and Maduka also runs Cyber Security and Software Engineering, which pull from the same pool of candidates. At a private university, your score rarely decides the outcome once you clear the minimum. What usually decides it is whether your UTME subjects and O’level grades fit the course. I would still aim for 180 or more for the 2027 UTME, because a stronger score gives you choices if Maduka ever adds a merit line.

Who gets in at a private university like Maduka

Federal and state universities fill places by merit, catchment and educationally less developed states. Maduka has published no such quotas, and private universities generally admit qualified candidates who apply and accept their fees. That makes the paperwork as important as the score: correct subjects, a clean O’level upload on CAPS and Maduka as your institution on JAMB.

UTME subject combination and O’level for Computer Science at Maduka

RequirementComputer Science
UTME subjectsUse of English, Mathematics, Physics, and one of Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Economics or Geography
O’levelFive credits including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and two other science subjects
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO or NABTEB (Maduka has not named the exams it accepts)
SittingsNot stated by Maduka; one sitting is safest
Direct EntryTwo A-level passes in science subjects including Mathematics, or NCE merit in Mathematics and one other Science or Social Science subject (JAMB brochure); Maduka says it accepts A-level, OND, NCE and equivalents
Special Maduka remark in JAMB brochureNone seen in Myschool’s reprint of the Computer Science page

These are JAMB’s requirements for Computer Science as reprinted by Myschool. Use of English is compulsory for every UTME candidate, so the brochure only lists the other three. The combination most candidates use is English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, which also keeps Computer Engineering and other engineering courses open if you change your mind later.

The O’level rule is where many applicants slip. JAMB’s general requirement asks for Physics plus two other sciences, so a candidate with English, Mathematics, Economics, Government and Physics meets five credits but not the subject spread. Biology, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Agricultural Science and Computer Studies are the usual second and third sciences.

How admission and screening work at Maduka

No source I found describes a Maduka Post-UTME written test, and Maduka has not published an aggregate formula. The process reported for 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 is an online application: candidates create a profile on the admission portal, enter their UTME and O’level details, choose a programme, pay the form fee and print a slip. The university then makes offers through JAMB CAPS.

Worked example for a Computer Science applicant

Because there is no published test or aggregate, the useful sum is the gap between your score, Maduka’s 150 and my safe target. The example below is illustrative.

Take Ifeoma, who scored 186 in English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, with B2 in Mathematics, B3 in Physics, C4 in Chemistry, C5 in Biology and B3 in English from one sitting.

  1. Eligibility: 186 minus 150 = 36. She clears Maduka’s minimum by 36 marks.
  2. Against my safe target: 186 is above the 180 I suggest, so her score is not the issue.
  3. Subject check: Mathematics and Physics are in her UTME, and her O’level has Physics plus two other sciences (Chemistry and Biology). She fits JAMB’s rule.
  4. What decides her case: Maduka as her institution on JAMB, her O’level on CAPS, and a completed portal application. With those three, she is in a strong position.

Now take Tobenna, who scored 205 but sat English, Mathematics, Economics and Government. His score is higher, yet Physics is missing from his UTME, so he does not meet JAMB’s Computer Science requirement.

The 2026/2027 figures are Maduka’s own schedule as reprinted by The Vent Republic, which says the amount covers tuition and accommodation with no hidden charges; I could not open the original on Maduka’s site. The rise from ₦690,000 to ₦900,000 in one year shows how quickly fees can move. Confirm the current schedule on the portal before you pay anything, and keep every receipt.

How to apply for Computer Science at Maduka, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME correctly: pick Computer Science as your course, sit English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry (or another allowed third science), and put Maduka University as your first choice. If you chose another school, do a JAMB change of institution before you apply.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: visit an accredited JAMB CBT centre once your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out. Universities cannot offer you admission on CAPS without it.
  4. Apply on Maduka’s portal: create an applicant profile, enter your JAMB details and O’level grades, choose Computer Science, and pay the ₦5,000 form fee online (reported to be through Paystack). Print the application slip.
  5. Follow up: Maduka has not published a written test, so watch your email and the portal for screening instructions or an invitation, and write to admission@madukauniversity.edu.ng if you hear nothing.
  6. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Accept the offer only when it shows Computer Science at Maduka. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  7. Pay acceptance and clear: pay the ₦50,000 acceptance fee only through Maduka’s portal, then bring your original O’level, JAMB result slip and admission letter for clearance.

Warning

Every genuine university admission in Nigeria appears on JAMB CAPS, and JAMB treats admissions done outside CAPS as illegal. If anyone offers you a Maduka “slot” for money, ignore them. Pay fees only through the university’s own portal invoice.

JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities, so Maduka’s 2026/2027 offers run until that date. If you sat the 2026 UTME and applied, check CAPS now. If you are writing the 2027 UTME, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and our guide to checking your JAMB result and what to do with the score.

Studying Computer Science at Maduka University

Maduka’s computing programmes sit in one unit that sources name differently: “School of Computing and Engineering” on Wikipedia, “College of Computing and Informatics” in Teezab’s July 2026 list. The campus is at Ekwegbe, on the Enugu to Nsukka road in Igbo-Etiti LGA, Enugu State. Computer Science leads to a B.Sc. and normally runs for four years in Nigeria.

Accreditation

According to Maduka’s press release of 29 July 2026, carried by Premium Times and AllAfrica, NUC assessed seven programmes between October and December 2025 and all seven received full accreditation, with scores between 84.8% and 97.0%. Computer Science was one of them. The release says the accreditation runs to 2030. I could not find the NUC’s own per-programme report page for Maduka, so this rests on the university’s release, which named the exercise and the programmes clearly.

What you study

  • Early years: programming fundamentals, discrete mathematics, calculus, digital logic and introductory computer systems.
  • Middle years: data structures and algorithms, databases, operating systems, computer networks and software engineering methods.
  • Final years: artificial intelligence, compilers, security, electives, the SIWES industrial attachment and a final-year project.
  • Careers: software development, data analysis, network and systems administration, IT support and consulting, teaching and postgraduate research.

Course titles above are what Nigerian B.Sc. Computer Science degrees generally cover under NUC’s benchmark. Maduka has not published its own course outline on a page I could read.

If you are unsure which to pick, Computer Science keeps the most doors open. All three share the same JAMB requirements, so pick the one whose content interests you most.

Mistakes that cost Computer Science applicants a place

  • No Physics in the UTME: JAMB’s Computer Science combination requires it.
  • Too few science credits: you need Physics and two other sciences at O’level, not just five credits.
  • Maduka not on your JAMB profile: fix it with a change of institution before you apply.
  • O’level not on CAPS: without it no university can offer you admission.
  • Paying an agent: offers only come through CAPS and the portal.
  • Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: acceptance fee and clearance at Maduka are separate steps.

If you need to switch courses on JAMB, see our JAMB change of course guide.
