Maduka University Computer Engineering Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

Maduka University accepts 150 in the UTME for Computer Engineering, but JAMB’s O’level line includes Further Mathematics. Subjects, Direct Entry, fees and CAPS steps.

The Maduka University Computer Engineering cut off mark is 150 in the UTME, the minimum Maduka set for all its programmes in the 2026/2027 notice that Myschool reprinted on 15 May 2026. It is the same as JAMB’s national minimum for universities, and Maduka has not published a separate figure for Computer Engineering. The detail that trips people up is the O’level: JAMB’s brochure line for Computer Engineering includes Further Mathematics.

2027/2028 update: Maduka University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Computer Engineering is a B.Eng. in Maduka’s College of Engineering at Ekwegbe, Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area. It is on the university’s 2026 course list and on its JAMB course list as “Computer Engineering”. Its NUC and COREN accreditation could not be confirmed (see below), unlike Computer Science at Maduka, which was fully accredited in 2025. Below are the official figures, a safe target score (my advice), the exact subjects, Direct Entry, fees and the CAPS steps.

Maduka has used one minimum, 150, for every programme in both sessions it has advertised to UTME candidates so far. Its name is not on the list of institution cut-offs that News Central TV published after JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting, and Maduka’s own website could not be reached when I checked, so the 150 comes through Myschool’s copy of the admission notice. Some blogs say Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Law “may require” more. None of them says that about engineering.

Safe target score for Computer Engineering at Maduka (my advice)

These bands are my judgement as an admissions adviser. Maduka has not published them.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Computer Engineering at Maduka
Below 150Not eligible for Maduka this session
150 to 169Eligible, if your four UTME subjects and five O’level credits are right
170 to 199Comfortable, and safer if Maduka raises the bar for engineering later
200 and aboveStrong. It also keeps public options such as ESUT open as a backup

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 180. The O’level is where Computer Engineering candidates usually fall short at Maduka. If you have no Further Mathematics credit, sort that out first (see the next section), because a 220 will not fix a missing subject.

UTME subject combination and O’level for Computer Engineering at Maduka

RequirementComputer Engineering (JAMB brochure, checked 30 October 2026)
UTME subjectsUse of English plus Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
Special remark for MadukaNone. Remarks cover NUN, OOU, UNIMAID, UNILAG, ABU, FUTA, UNILORIN and Caritas
O’level (core line)Five credits including Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and English Language
Schools allowed another science in place of Further MathematicsABUAD and OOU (by remark); not Maduka
Maduka’s general rule (blogs)Five credits including English and Mathematics
SittingsNot stated by Maduka; one sitting is safest
Direct Entry (core)Three A’level passes in Pure Mathematics (or Pure and Applied Mathematics), Chemistry and Physics

Further Mathematics is the subject that separates Computer Engineering from the other engineering courses in JAMB’s brochure. Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Mechatronics ask for “any other science” as the fifth credit. Computer Engineering names Further Mathematics. The brochure lets a few schools accept another science instead, by remark, and Maduka is not among them.

Plenty of secondary schools do not offer Further Mathematics. If yours did not, ask Maduka’s Admissions Office whether it will take Biology, Agricultural Science or Technical Drawing as your fifth credit. Get the answer in writing. If the answer is no, Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Maduka is the closest alternative: its brochure core line asks for “any other science” and does not name Further Mathematics. Computer Science and Software Engineering are the other options to check.

Direct Entry into Computer Engineering

JAMB’s core Direct Entry line for Computer Engineering asks for three A’level passes in Pure Mathematics (or Pure and Applied Mathematics), Chemistry and Physics, which is stricter than the two passes most engineering courses ask for. Remarks open ND, HND, JUPEB, IJMB or degree routes at named schools such as Bells, UNIBEN, UNILAG and FUTA. None of them names Maduka.

Maduka’s 2026/2027 notice, as reprinted by Myschool, invites UTME, Direct Entry and inter-university transfer applicants, and it also advertises a two-semester IJMB programme. Maduka has not published the level at which its own IJMB students or ND holders join engineering, so get that answer from Admissions before you pay. Direct Entry candidates still register with JAMB and are admitted through CAPS.

Does Maduka write Post-UTME for Computer Engineering?

No Maduka notice or report I found describes a Post-UTME test, a screening fee separate from the form, or an aggregate formula. What the reports describe is an online application: create a profile, upload your UTME and O’level results, pick a programme, pay for the form and print the slip. Maduka then decides on the file and sends the offer through JAMB CAPS. If the portal asks you to sit a test or attend an interview, follow it, because the university’s own instructions take priority over anything on this page.

Worked example (illustrative)

Maduka has not published an aggregate, so this example checks eligibility and the money needed before resumption. The fees are the 2026/2027 figures from Maduka’s fee list as reprinted by The Vent Republic.

  • Candidate: Ebuka scored 183 with English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. He has credits in English, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry from one sitting.
  • Score check: 183 minus 150 = 33. He clears Maduka’s minimum by 33 marks.
  • UTME check: all four subjects match the brochure’s core line.
  • O’level check: every subject named in the core line is there, including Further Mathematics.
  • Money before resumption (2026/2027 figures): ₦5,000 form + ₦50,000 acceptance + ₦900,000 session fee = ₦955,000.

Now take Kosisochukwu: 196 in the UTME with the same four subjects, but her fifth O’level credit is Biology because her school had no Further Mathematics teacher. She should ask Admissions whether Maduka will accept Biology for Computer Engineering; if not, a change of course on CAPS to Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or Software Engineering keeps her at Maduka in a related field.

For 2026/2027, Maduka’s fee list as reprinted by The Vent Republic puts Computer Engineering, with the other Computing and Engineering programmes, at ₦900,000 a session, up from the ₦690,000 AndroidPols reported for 2025/2026. The same list gives Medicine and Surgery at ₦4,210,000, which matches Myschool’s copy of the notice. You can pay in two instalments of 60% and 40%. Confirm the figure with the Bursary before you pay, because the 2027/2028 fee may be higher.

For timing, JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities, a group that includes Maduka, at its policy meeting of 11 May 2026 (reported by the News Agency of Nigeria). The 2027/2028 dates will come from JAMB’s next policy meeting. Private universities fill places on a rolling basis, so apply as soon as the portal opens.

Your chances of getting Computer Engineering at Maduka

Maduka does not publish applicant numbers or admissions per course. Going by how private universities in the South East usually fill engineering places, a candidate with 150 or more, the right UTME subjects, the full O’level set and the means to pay normally stands a fair chance. That is my reading, not a Maduka statistic.

Computer Engineering also competes for attention with three computing degrees at Maduka. Computer Science, Cyber Security and Software Engineering all received full NUC accreditation in the 2025 exercise. If what you want is programming and software work rather than hardware design, one of those may be the safer choice today.

How to apply for Computer Engineering at Maduka, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register Maduka and the right course: pick Maduka University and the course listed as “Computer Engineering”, with Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. If you picked another school as first choice, do a JAMB change of institution before Maduka can offer you a place, and use a JAMB change of course if you registered the wrong course.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: any accredited JAMB CBT centre can do it. Check that the upload shows credits in English, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
  4. Fill Maduka’s online application: on madukauniversity.edu.ng, create a profile, enter your UTME details, upload your O’level, choose the programme, pay the form fee (reported as ₦5,000) and print the slip. These steps are as reported by AndroidPols; follow the portal if it differs.
  5. Watch CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Accept only an offer that shows Maduka University and Computer Engineering. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  6. Pay acceptance and the first fees: the acceptance fee is reported as ₦50,000 and is not refundable. Pay only through the channel on Maduka’s portal and keep every receipt.
  7. Clear at Ekwegbe: bring your O’level result, JAMB result slip and admission letter, birth certificate, local government identification, NIN slip, passport photographs and payment receipts. Maduka has not published its own list, so take originals and photocopies of all of them.

Warning

Every genuine Maduka admission shows up on your JAMB CAPS page. JAMB has said admissions outside CAPS are illegal, so anyone selling a “direct” Maduka slot or an admission letter for money is not acting for the university. Pay fees only through the channel on madukauniversity.edu.ng.

Studying Computer Engineering at Maduka University

Computer Engineering sits in Maduka’s College of Engineering with Civil, Mechanical, Mechatronics and Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Teezab, July 2026), while Computer Science, Cyber Security and Software Engineering are in a separate computing college. Maduka has not published the duration; a B.Eng. in Nigeria normally takes five years for UTME entrants. Maduka is a private university licensed by NUC in 2023, and its first session began on 23 November 2023.

I found no NUC accreditation result and no COREN accreditation record for Computer Engineering at Maduka. NUC’s accreditation exercise of October to December 2025 covered seven Maduka programmes (Accounting, Mass Communication, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Economics and International Relations), and all seven got full accreditation, according to a university press release carried by Premium Times and AllAfrica on 29 July 2026. No engineering course was on that list. For background, NUC let Maduka begin teaching in 2023, Nairametrics reported that NUC recognised 19 programmes at its October 2023 visit, and the engineering courses have been on Maduka’s lists since then. Programmes are normally accredited once students reach the later years, and Maduka’s first students only started in November 2023. Still, treat the status as not confirmed and ask Admissions for it in writing before you pay.

What you study

  • First years: engineering mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering drawing, workshop practice and programming.
  • Electronics base: circuit theory, analogue and digital electronics, signals and systems.
  • Computer hardware: logic design, computer architecture, microprocessors and microcontrollers.
  • Software side: data structures, operating systems, software engineering and computer networks.
  • Applied areas: embedded systems, data communication, VLSI design basics and control.
  • Later years: SIWES industrial training and a final-year hardware or embedded-systems project.

Careers

Computer engineers work in telecoms and network operations, embedded and IoT product design, hardware support for banks and data centres, software development, and IT departments in industry and government. COREN registration after graduation matters for engineering roles that need a registered engineer, which is why the accreditation question below is worth asking.

Chemistry and Physics carry most of the weight in your UTME, so work through our JAMB Chemistry syllabus for 2027 early. If you are sitting the exam again, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and how to check your JAMB result.

Mistakes that cost Computer Engineering applicants a Maduka place

  • No Further Mathematics credit: the brochure’s core line names it, and Maduka has no exception.
  • Biology in place of Chemistry in the UTME: the core line needs Chemistry.
  • Confusing Computer Engineering with Computer Science: they are different courses on JAMB with different O’level lines.
  • Maduka not first choice: fix it with a JAMB change of institution.
  • Not asking about accreditation: get the programme’s NUC status before paying acceptance.

Maduka University Computer Engineering cut-off mark: FAQs

Maduka’s current course list, with Computer Engineering under its College of Engineering, comes from Teezab (16 July 2026), and the course name “Computer Engineering” from the Maduka list on universitycourses.ng (updated March 2026); Maduka’s own website and its course list on Myschool could not be opened, so confirm the name on your JAMB profile. The UTME, O’level and Direct Entry lines come from JAMB’s brochure entry for Computer Engineering as reprinted by Myschool (checked 30 October 2026), which carries no remark for Maduka. The national minimum of 150 and the 30 November 2026 deadline for private universities come from JAMB’s policy meeting of 11 May 2026, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria. The seven programmes with full NUC accreditation come from a Maduka press release carried by Premium Times and AllAfrica (29 July 2026); NUC’s take-off visit is from Nairametrics and TheCable (20 July 2024). I found no NUC report page or COREN record for engineering at Maduka. Safe target scores, the odds discussion and the worked example are my advice, not Maduka figures. This page will be updated when Maduka publishes its 2027/2028 notice, a departmental cut-off, a new fee list or an accreditation result for Computer Engineering.
