MOUAU Cut-Off Mark for Industrial Technology Education 2027/2028: Requirements, Subject Combination and Screening

MOUAU’s minimum for Industrial Technology Education is 150 in the UTME with MOUAU first choice. See the JAMB subjects, MOUAU’s own O’level and Direct Entry remarks, a safe target score, screening and CAPS steps for 2027/2028.

The MOUAU cut off mark for Industrial Technology Education is 150 in the UTME, with Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) as your first choice. MOUAU set that single minimum for every course in its 2026/2027 screening notice and did not publish a separate figure for Industrial Technology Education.

2027/2028 update: MOUAU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Scoring 150 lets you register for screening; whether you are admitted depends on how you rank against the other applicants. This page covers the official figures, a safe target score (my advice), the JAMB subjects, the O’level rule MOUAU itself added to the JAMB brochure (it asks for Chemistry, which many candidates miss), Direct Entry, screening, a worked example and the CAPS steps.

Departmental figure for Industrial Technology EducationNoneBlog “departmental cut-off” tables cite no MOUAU documentUnofficial

Industrial Technology Education is one of the smaller departments in COED, and blogs rarely print even an unofficial figure for it. MOUAU’s only published number is the university-wide 150. If you see a higher “departmental cut-off” for this course on a blog, look for a MOUAU document behind it; I found none.

Safe target score for Industrial Technology Education at MOUAU (my advice)

MOUAU does not publish the score of the last candidate admitted into each course, so this table is my judgement as an admissions adviser. It is not a MOUAU rule.

Your UTME scoreMy read for MOUAU Industrial Technology Education
Below 150Not eligible for any MOUAU course
150 to 169Eligible to register; admission depends heavily on O’level grades
170 to 189Reasonable chance with the right credits from one sitting
190 and aboveStrong. This is the range I would aim for.

Technical teacher education draws fewer applicants than Engineering, so I set the bands lower than for MOUAU’s engineering courses. For the 2027 UTME I would still aim for at least 180, with credits in English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry from one sitting. The O’level is where most candidates for this course lose out at MOUAU, as the next section shows.

Catchment and merit

MOUAU is a federal university, so its admissions follow the federal guidelines that mix merit, catchment and educationally less developed states. MOUAU has not published its own split or a list of catchment states for 2026/2027. Do not count on catchment to rescue a weak score; your UTME result and your O’level grades from one sitting are the parts you control.

UTME subject combination and O’level for MOUAU Industrial Technology Education

RequirementIndustrial Technology Education at MOUAU
UTME subjectsUse of English, Mathematics, Physics and one other science subject
O’level (general entry)Five credits including Physics or Mathematics
O’level (MOUAU remark)Five credits including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO, NABTEB
SittingsNot stated on the entry; MOUAU weights sittings in screening, so one sitting is safer
Awaiting resultsRegister for MOUAU screening only after your result is out
Special requirementsNone published beyond screening

Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure has an entry named exactly Industrial Technology Education, and MOUAU is the only institution with remarks on it. The general requirement for UTME is Mathematics, Physics and one other science with Use of English. Chemistry, Biology or Further Mathematics all fit “one other science”, but I would pick Chemistry, because MOUAU wants a Chemistry credit at O’level anyway and the subjects support each other.

The general O’level line on the entry only asks for five credits including Physics or Mathematics. MOUAU’s own remark is stricter: five credits including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. A candidate with Technical Drawing, Basic Electricity or Metalwork but no Chemistry credit meets the general line and still falls short of MOUAU’s remark. Some summaries of this course say a technical subject can stand in for Chemistry; the MOUAU remark I saw does not say that. Use your fifth credit for a technical subject if you have one, since it fits the course.

Direct Entry

The general entry accepts any of these: two A-level passes in Physics and Mathematics; an ND at lower credit in Civil Engineering or Production/Electrical Engineering; the final City and Guilds certificate or its equivalent plus a National Technical Certificate; or an NCE credit in Technical Education plus O’level credits in Physics or Mathematics.

MOUAU’s remark on the same entry says it accepts two A-level passes in relevant subjects, the NCE, the ND, or the NBC/NDC. That makes this one of the more open Direct Entry routes at MOUAU, which suits technical college leavers and NCE (Technical) holders. MOUAU’s 2026/2027 notice did not publish a separate Direct Entry screening procedure, so confirm the entry level (100 or 200 level) with the department.

Does the 2026 NCE exemption apply to this course?

No. At its policy meeting of 11 May 2026, JAMB exempted NCE programmes at colleges of education from the UTME. Nairametrics reported that the change starts with the 2027 admission cycle, while JAMB’s own NCE registration guide (June 2026) shows it already running in 2026. Either way it covers the NCE only. A degree in education at a university such as MOUAU still needs the UTME, MOUAU as first choice and the 150 minimum. The same JAMB guide also says colleges of education stop taking 100-level or 200-level degree students from 2026/2027, so candidates who wanted an affiliated degree at a college now have to look at universities like MOUAU or start with an NCE.

How MOUAU screening works for Industrial Technology Education

MOUAU’s 2026/2027 screening notice, signed by the Registrar, Dr (Mrs) Nkeiruka Charity Mbanasor, was reprinted by Myschool on 20 June 2026. I could not open the original on mouau.edu.ng, so treat these details as a faithful reprint and not the source document.

Nothing in the notice says MOUAU set a written Post-UTME test for 2026/2027, so I won’t tell you one was held. After you register, check the portal regularly; MOUAU said screening results and admission status would appear there.

Worked example for an Industrial Technology Education candidate

MOUAU has not published an aggregate formula. To show how UTME and O’level interact, here is an illustrative method many Nigerian universities use: UTME score divided by 8 (up to 50 points), plus O’level points for five relevant subjects with A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6 and C6 = 5 (up to 50 points). This is my example, not MOUAU’s formula.

  1. Kelechi scored 186 with B3 in English, B2 in Mathematics, B3 in Physics, C4 in Chemistry and B3 in Technical Drawing from one sitting. UTME points: 186 ÷ 8 = 23.25. O’level points: 8 + 9 + 8 + 7 + 8 = 40. Illustrative total: 63.25.
  2. Obinna scored 201 with C4 in English, C5 in Mathematics, C4 in Physics, C6 in Basic Electricity and C5 in Metalwork over two sittings, and no Chemistry credit. UTME points: 201 ÷ 8 = 25.13. O’level points: 7 + 6 + 7 + 5 + 6 = 31. Illustrative total: 56.13.
  3. The gap: 63.25 minus 56.13 = 7.12 points in Kelechi’s favour, even though Obinna scored 15 more in the UTME. Under MOUAU’s remark, Obinna’s missing Chemistry credit is a bigger problem than his total.

This is why I tell technical candidates to sort out Chemistry before anything else. A WAEC or NECO private sitting to add a Chemistry credit is cheaper than losing a year.

How to apply for Industrial Technology Education at MOUAU, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME correctly: choose Industrial Technology Education at MOUAU with Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and one other science (Chemistry is the sensible choice), and make MOUAU your first choice. If you already registered for another school, do a JAMB change of institution before MOUAU’s screening opens.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at an accredited JAMB CBT centre as soon as your result is out. MOUAU weights your grades and sittings, so upload your best single sitting.
  4. Register on the MOUAU portal: when screening opens, go to portal.mouau.edu.ng, fill in your details and generate the Remita invoice.
  5. Pay ₦2,000: by card or cash at any bank through Remita. Keep the RRR number and the receipt.
  6. Check the portal for results: MOUAU posts screening outcomes and admission status there; no test date was published for 2026/2027.
  7. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. JAMB gives four weeks to accept. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  8. Pay acceptance and clear: MOUAU’s acceptance and school fees were not in any source I reached. Get the amount from your portal invoice and pay only through it.

Warning

Every genuine MOUAU offer appears on JAMB CAPS, and JAMB said in May 2026 that admissions outside CAPS are illegal. Anyone selling a MOUAU “slot” is selling something that does not exist, so pay only through the MOUAU portal invoice.

For 2026/2027, JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the date public universities should finish admissions. If you applied, look at CAPS now instead of waiting for a printed list.

Studying Industrial Technology Education at MOUAU

Industrial Technology Education is one of nine departments MOUAU lists under its College of Education (COED) at Umudike, about 10 km from Umuahia in Abia State. MOUAU is a federal university of agriculture established by federal decree in November 1992. The course trains teachers for technical and vocational subjects in secondary schools and technical colleges.

What you study

  • Education courses: educational psychology, curriculum, teaching methods, measurement and evaluation, and teaching practice in schools.
  • Technical courses: technical drawing, workshop practice and the technology of areas such as building, electrical and electronics, metalwork, woodwork or automobile work. MOUAU has not published which of these options it runs, so ask the department.
  • Support subjects: mathematics and physics at university level, plus general studies.
  • Practice: workshop projects and supervised teaching practice; industrial attachment is common in Nigerian technology education degrees, but I have not seen MOUAU’s handbook on it.

Degree title, duration and accreditation

MOUAU’s official department list confirms Industrial Technology Education under COED. The degree title (B.Sc (Ed), B.Ed or B.Tech (Ed)) was not stated in any official source I reached. Education degrees in Nigeria usually run for four years through UTME, but MOUAU has not confirmed the duration for this course in what I found. No NUC accreditation status for the programme appeared in the sources I checked, so I am not claiming one; ask the department before you accept an offer. Graduates who want to teach in Nigerian schools also need to register with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) after graduation.

Careers

  • Teaching technical and vocational subjects in secondary schools and government technical colleges.
  • Instructor or technologist roles in polytechnics, skills acquisition centres and vocational training programmes.
  • Training roles in industry, such as in-house technical training for new staff.
  • Running a workshop or technical business, using the hands-on skills from the course.
  • Postgraduate study in technology or vocational education.

If you are writing the UTME in 2027, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts, and once results are out, how to check your JAMB result.

Mistakes that cost Industrial Technology Education applicants a MOUAU place

  • No Chemistry credit: MOUAU’s remark asks for it even though the general entry does not.
  • Dropping Physics or Mathematics in the UTME: both are fixed in the combination.
  • Treating 150 as an admission score: it only gets you into screening.
  • MOUAU not first choice: required by the notice.
  • Spreading credits over many sittings: MOUAU weights the number of sittings.
  • Ignoring CAPS: your offer appears there first, and the four-week acceptance window is short.

MOUAU Industrial Technology Education cut off mark: frequently asked questions

Is Chemistry compulsory for Industrial Technology Education at MOUAU? For O’level, yes. MOUAU’s remark on the JAMB brochure entry asks for credits in English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. In the UTME, Chemistry is one of the sciences you can use as the fourth subject.

Is 165 enough for Industrial Technology Education in MOUAU? 165 clears MOUAU’s 150 minimum, so you can register for screening. It sits below the 170 I would call a reasonable chance, so you will need good O’level grades from one sitting.

Can I use NCE Technical or ND for Direct Entry into Industrial Technology Education at MOUAU? Yes. MOUAU’s remark says it accepts the NCE, the ND, NBC/NDC or two relevant A-level passes. Apply through JAMB Direct Entry and confirm your entry level with the department.

What is the JAMB subject combination for Industrial Technology Education? Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and one other science subject. Chemistry is the best choice for MOUAU because its O’level remark also asks for Chemistry.

Sources and updates

The 150 minimum, the MOUAU first-choice rule, the 6 June 2026 opening, the ₦2,000 Remita fee, the portal address, the awaiting-result rule and the weighting of O’level grades and sittings come from MOUAU’s 2026/2027 screening notice signed by the Registrar, Dr (Mrs) Nkeiruka Charity Mbanasor, as reprinted by Myschool on 20 June 2026; I could not open the original on mouau.edu.ng. The national minimum of 150, the 31 October 2026 admission deadline, the four-week acceptance window and the warning that admissions outside CAPS are illegal come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). The NCE exemption is from JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting as reported by Nairametrics (11 May 2026) and from JAMB’s NCE and ND special registration guide (June 2026), which also ends degree admissions into colleges of education from 2026/2027. College and department names come from MOUAU’s official Academic Department by Faculty page (last modified 19 June 2026). The UTME combination, the general O’level and Direct Entry lines, and MOUAU’s own O’level and Direct Entry remarks come from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure entry for Industrial Technology Education. TRCN registration for teachers is general knowledge about Nigerian teacher licensing. The safe target table and the worked example are my own advice and illustration. MOUAU’s fees, the degree title, the programme duration and the accreditation status were not published in any source I reached. Checked on 29 October 2026; this page will be updated if MOUAU publishes a departmental cut-off or new requirements.
