The MOUAU cut off mark for Integrated Science Education is 150 in the UTME, with Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) as your first choice. MOUAU set that one minimum for all its courses in the 2026/2027 screening notice and did not publish a separate figure for Integrated Science Education.
2027/2028 update: MOUAU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Getting 150 lets you register for screening; admission depends on how you rank. This page covers the official figures, a safe target score (my advice), the JAMB subjects and O’level rules, the Direct Entry route for NCE holders, how MOUAU screens, a worked example, the CAPS steps and how this department relates to MOUAU’s other science education courses.

MOUAU Integrated Science Education cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | Minimum UTME score for all MOUAU courses, MOUAU first choice | MOUAU notice (Myschool reprint, 20 June 2026) |
| 2026 (national) | 150 | JAMB minimum for all universities | Official, JAMB policy meeting (11 May 2026) |
| 2025/2026 | Not confirmed | Blogs say 150; the earlier Myschool page now redirects to the 2026 article | Unverified |
| Departmental figure for Integrated Science Education | None | Blog “departmental cut-off” tables cite no MOUAU document | Unofficial |
MOUAU’s main department list names Integrated Science Education, and the College of Education’s page places Integrated Science with Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science as options of its Department of Science Education. None of them has a published departmental cut-off. They all work from the same 150.
Safe target score for Integrated Science Education at MOUAU (my advice)
MOUAU does not publish the score of the last candidate admitted into each course, so this table is my judgement as an admissions adviser. It is not a MOUAU rule.
| Your UTME score | My read for MOUAU Integrated Science Education |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible for any MOUAU course |
| 150 to 164 | Eligible to register; admission depends on science grades |
| 165 to 184 | Reasonable chance with science credits from one sitting |
| 185 and above | Strong. This is the range I would aim for. |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 175, with credits in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics from one sitting. Science teaching courses usually have fewer applicants than the pure sciences, but MOUAU ranks on O’level grades too, and weak science grades cost more here than a few UTME marks.
Catchment and merit
MOUAU is a federal university, so its admissions follow the federal guidelines that mix merit, catchment and educationally less developed states. MOUAU has not published its own split or a list of catchment states for 2026/2027. Do not count on catchment to rescue a weak score; your UTME result and your O’level grades from one sitting are the parts you control.
UTME subject combination and O’level for MOUAU Integrated Science Education
| Requirement | Integrated Science Education at MOUAU |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects (general entry) | Use of English plus any three of Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Agricultural Science |
| O’level (general entry) | Five credits including English Language, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry |
| MOUAU remark | None found on the Education and Integrated Science entry |
| What I would present | English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, from one sitting |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO, NABTEB |
| Sittings | MOUAU weights the number of sittings, so one sitting is safer |
| Awaiting results | Register for MOUAU screening only after your result is out |
Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure entry Education and Integrated Science gives the general UTME rule as any three of Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Agricultural Science, with Use of English. Several universities narrow that, for example to Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics, and MOUAU has no remark on the entry. I would take Biology, Chemistry and Physics: Integrated Science covers all three, and you avoid any doubt about Agricultural Science being accepted in place of Biology.
The general O’level line asks for five credits including Biology, Chemistry, English and Mathematics. Physics is the obvious fifth subject. Agricultural Science and Integrated Science credits are useful extras, but I would not use them in place of Biology or Chemistry.
Direct Entry
The general entry accepts an NCE in Integrated Science, an NCE in Science Education, or two A-level passes in science subjects. That makes this the natural degree route for NCE Integrated Science holders, and JAMB’s 2026 changes to colleges of education (below) make that route more important. MOUAU has no remark on the entry and its 2026/2027 notice published no separate Direct Entry procedure, so confirm with the department whether NCE holders enter at 200 level and what grade (merit or credit) it expects.
Does the 2026 NCE exemption apply to this course?
No. At its policy meeting of 11 May 2026, JAMB exempted NCE programmes at colleges of education from the UTME. Nairametrics reported that the change starts with the 2027 admission cycle, while JAMB’s own NCE registration guide (June 2026) shows it already running in 2026. Either way it covers the NCE only. A degree in education at a university such as MOUAU still needs the UTME, MOUAU as first choice and the 150 minimum. The same JAMB guide also says colleges of education stop taking 100-level or 200-level degree students from 2026/2027, so candidates who wanted an affiliated degree at a college now have to look at universities like MOUAU or start with an NCE.
How MOUAU screening works for Integrated Science Education
MOUAU’s 2026/2027 screening notice, signed by the Registrar, Dr (Mrs) Nkeiruka Charity Mbanasor, was reprinted by Myschool on 20 June 2026. I could not open the original on mouau.edu.ng, so treat these details as a faithful reprint and not the source document.
| Detail | MOUAU 2026/2027 screening |
|---|---|
| Who could apply | Candidates with 150 or more in the 2026 UTME and MOUAU as first choice; others could first change to MOUAU on the JAMB portal |
| Registration opened | 6 June 2026, online through mouau.edu.ng |
| Portal | portal.mouau.edu.ng (payment problems: portal@mouau.edu.ng) |
| Fee | ₦2,000 through Remita, by card or cash at any bank |
| O’level | WAEC, NECO or NABTEB results uploaded so they reach JAMB CAPS |
| Awaiting results | Candidates still waiting for 2026 results were told not to register until the results were out |
| How candidates are ranked | UTME score, with O’level grades and the number of sittings both weighted |
| Closing date and test date | Not stated in the reprint |
Nothing in the notice says MOUAU set a written Post-UTME test for 2026/2027, so I won’t tell you one was held. After you register, check the portal regularly; MOUAU said screening results and admission status would appear there.
Worked example for an Integrated Science Education candidate
MOUAU has not published an aggregate formula. To show how UTME and O’level interact, here is an illustrative method many Nigerian universities use: UTME score divided by 8 (up to 50 points), plus O’level points for five relevant subjects with A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6 and C6 = 5 (up to 50 points). This is my example, not MOUAU’s formula.
- Ifunanya scored 174 with B3 in English, C4 in Mathematics, B2 in Biology, B3 in Chemistry and C4 in Physics from one sitting. UTME points: 174 ÷ 8 = 21.75. O’level points: 8 + 7 + 9 + 8 + 7 = 39. Illustrative total: 60.75.
- Somto scored 190 with C5 in English, C6 in Mathematics, C5 in Biology, C6 in Chemistry and C5 in Agricultural Science over two sittings. UTME points: 190 ÷ 8 = 23.75. O’level points: 6 + 5 + 6 + 5 + 6 = 28. Illustrative total: 51.75.
- The gap: 60.75 minus 51.75 = 9 points in Ifunanya’s favour, even though Somto scored 16 more in the UTME.
With science teaching courses, MOUAU’s weighting of O’level grades and sittings can outweigh a modest UTME lead. If your science grades are weak, a fresh WAEC or NECO sitting may do more for you than a higher UTME score.
How to apply for Integrated Science Education at MOUAU, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME correctly: choose Integrated Science Education at MOUAU with Use of English and three of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Agricultural Science (I suggest Biology, Chemistry and Physics), and make MOUAU your first choice. If you already registered for another school, do a JAMB change of institution before MOUAU’s screening opens.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at an accredited JAMB CBT centre as soon as your result is out. MOUAU weights your grades and sittings, so upload your best single sitting.
- Register on the MOUAU portal: when screening opens, go to portal.mouau.edu.ng, fill in your details and generate the Remita invoice.
- Pay ₦2,000: by card or cash at any bank through Remita. Keep the RRR number and the receipt.
- Check the portal for results: MOUAU posts screening outcomes and admission status there; no test date was published for 2026/2027.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. JAMB gives four weeks to accept. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and clear: MOUAU’s acceptance and school fees were not in any source I reached. Get the amount from your portal invoice and pay only through it.
Warning
Every genuine MOUAU offer appears on JAMB CAPS, and JAMB said in May 2026 that admissions outside CAPS are illegal. Anyone selling a MOUAU “slot” is selling something that does not exist, so pay only through the MOUAU portal invoice.
For 2026/2027, JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the date public universities should finish admissions. If you applied, look at CAPS now instead of waiting for a printed list.
Studying Integrated Science Education at MOUAU
MOUAU’s main department list places Integrated Science Education among the nine departments of its College of Education (COED) at Umudike, about 10 km from Umuahia in Abia State. MOUAU is a federal university of agriculture established by federal decree in November 1992. The course trains teachers of Basic Science for junior secondary schools and lecturers for NCE Integrated Science.
What you study
- Sciences: university courses in biology, chemistry and physics, with mathematics, because integrated science teachers handle all three.
- Earth and environment: topics such as earth science and environmental science that appear in the Basic Science curriculum.
- Education courses: educational psychology, curriculum, science teaching methods, and measurement and evaluation.
- Practice: laboratory work, improvisation of teaching materials, a research project and supervised teaching practice.
Degree title, duration and accreditation
MOUAU lists the degree among the B.Sc (Ed) options of the Department of Science Education on the College of Education’s page, so B.Sc (Ed) Integrated Science is the likely title; the main university site does not state it. Education degrees in Nigeria usually run for four years through UTME, and MOUAU has not confirmed the duration in what I found. No NUC accreditation status for the programme appeared in the sources I checked, so I am not claiming one; ask the department before you accept an offer. Graduates who want to teach in Nigerian schools also need to register with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) after graduation.
Careers
- Teaching Basic Science in junior secondary schools, where every school needs at least one science teacher.
- Teaching biology, chemistry or physics in senior secondary schools, depending on your strongest area.
- Laboratory and science education roles in schools and colleges.
- Lecturing Integrated Science in colleges of education after postgraduate study.
- Science curriculum, textbook and education programme work.

Mistakes that cost Integrated Science Education applicants a MOUAU place
- Agricultural Science in place of Biology: the general O’level line names Biology.
- No Chemistry credit: also named in the general O’level line.
- Treating 150 as an admission score: it only gets you into screening.
- MOUAU not first choice: required by the notice.
- NCE holders buying the UTME form by default: ask about Direct Entry first.
- Ignoring CAPS: your offer appears there first, and the four-week acceptance window is short.
MOUAU Integrated Science Education cut off mark: frequently asked questions
What is the JAMB subject combination for Integrated Science Education at MOUAU? Use of English plus three of Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Agricultural Science under the general entry. I recommend Biology, Chemistry and Physics, because MOUAU has published no remark and those three cover the course.
Can NCE Integrated Science holders get Direct Entry into MOUAU? The general JAMB entry accepts an NCE in Integrated Science or Science Education. Apply through JAMB Direct Entry and confirm your entry level and grade requirement with MOUAU’s College of Education.
Is 160 enough for Integrated Science Education in MOUAU? 160 clears MOUAU’s 150 minimum, so you can register for screening. At that score your science credits and number of sittings will carry a lot of weight.
Is Integrated Science Education the same as Biology Education at MOUAU? No. Both are B.Sc (Ed) options under Science Education, according to the College of Education’s page, but Integrated Science covers several sciences while Biology Education focuses on biology.
Sources and updates
The 150 minimum, the MOUAU first-choice rule, the 6 June 2026 opening, the ₦2,000 Remita fee, the portal address, the awaiting-result rule and the weighting of O’level grades and sittings come from MOUAU’s 2026/2027 screening notice signed by the Registrar, Dr (Mrs) Nkeiruka Charity Mbanasor, as reprinted by Myschool on 20 June 2026; I could not open the original on mouau.edu.ng. The national minimum of 150, the 31 October 2026 admission deadline, the four-week acceptance window and the warning that admissions outside CAPS are illegal come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). The NCE exemption is from JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting as reported by Nairametrics (11 May 2026) and from JAMB’s NCE and ND special registration guide (June 2026), which also ends degree admissions into colleges of education from 2026/2027. College and department names come from MOUAU’s official Academic Department by Faculty page (last modified 19 June 2026), and the placement under the Department of Science Education comes from the College of Education’s own About COED page. The general UTME, O’level and Direct Entry lines come from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure entry Education and Integrated Science, which carries no MOUAU remark. TRCN registration is general knowledge about Nigerian teacher licensing. The safe target table and the worked example are my own advice and illustration. MOUAU’s fees, the degree title, the programme duration and the accreditation status were not published in any source I reached. Checked on 29 October 2026; this page will be updated if MOUAU publishes a departmental cut-off or new requirements.
