The FUAHSE Water Sanitation and Hygiene cut-off mark is 180 in the UTME. The Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Enugu (FUAHSE), a federal university in Trans-Ekulu, listed the course as “Water Hygiene and Sanitation” in the 180 group of its official 2026/2027 UTME admission cut-off list, alongside Healthcare Management, Occupational Therapy and Parasitology and Entomology.
2027/2028 update: FUAHSE cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) is a rare undergraduate course in Nigeria, and several basic facts about FUAHSE’s version are still missing. This is what I could and could not confirm on 30 October 2026:
- FUAHSE’s own list: yes. Water, Sanitation and Hygiene is on the official 2026/2027 cut-off page at 180 (listed there as “Water Hygiene and Sanitation”).
- NUC approval: not confirmed for this course. It was not among the first 16 programmes NUC approved in December 2024, and it was not one of the three courses named when the Vice-Chancellor said in May 2026 that 11 newer programmes had been approved.
- JAMB: not confirmed. I found no JAMB brochure entry for a degree called Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (or Water Hygiene and Sanitation), and I could not open JAMB’s list of FUAHSE courses.
- Professional regulator: none confirmed. No council publicly registers WASH graduates as a separate profession, and I found no regulator’s record naming FUAHSE.
Because the JAMB question is open, have a backup ready. The closest established degree in Enugu is Public Health: ESUT Public Health (180 to apply in 2026/2027) and SUMAS Public Health (150), as well as FUAHSE’s own Public Health at 200. I compare them further down.
Check before you pay
Before you pay an acceptance fee for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene at FUAHSE, ask the admissions office in writing whether NUC has approved the course and what name it carries on JAMB CAPS. Pay only through an invoice from eportal.fuahse.edu.ng, and only after the offer shows on CAPS.

Cut-off history for WASH at FUAHSE
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 180 | Water Hygiene and Sanitation admission cut-off | Official FUAHSE e-portal |
| 2026/2027 | 150 | Minimum UTME score to fill the screening form | Myschool report of the 2026/2027 exercise |
| 2025/2026 | None | Course not offered: FUAHSE’s 2025/2026 intake had 16 courses and no WASH | Studentship reprint, 18 July 2025 |
This is a one-row history. FUAHSE first listed the course in 2026/2027, so 2027/2028 would be at most its second intake. With no earlier figure to compare, I treat 180 as the line to beat and expect it to stay there unless demand surprises the university.
All FUAHSE cut-off marks for 2026/2027
| 2026/2027 cut-off | FUAHSE courses (names as on the e-portal) |
|---|---|
| 260 | Nursing Science |
| 240 | Radiography |
| 230 | Medical Laboratory Science, Physiotherapy |
| 200 | Public Health, Dental Technology, Dental Therapy, Prosthetics and Orthotics, Software Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Electrical and Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Social Work, Biotechnology, Alternative and Complementary Medicine |
| 180 | Health Care Management, Occupational Therapy, Parasitology and Entomology, Water Hygiene and Sanitation |
| 170 | Speech Therapy, Community Health, Health Information |
| 150 | Human Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology |
WASH sits in the middle of the table, 20 marks below Public Health. That gap matters if you are torn between the two: a candidate on 185 is eligible for WASH but not for Public Health at FUAHSE. If your score falls below 180, the FUAHSE courses still open to you are the 170 group (Speech Therapy, Community Health, Health Information) and the 150 group of basic medical sciences.
Safe target score for WASH at FUAHSE (my advice)
FUAHSE does not publish the score of its last admitted candidate. These ranges are my judgement as an admissions adviser.
| Your UTME score | My read for FUAHSE Water, Sanitation and Hygiene |
|---|---|
| Below 180 | Not eligible; look at FUAHSE’s 170 and 150 courses or Public Health at SUMAS |
| 180 to 189 | Eligible, near the line |
| 190 to 204 | Competitive with clean science credits |
| 205 and above | Strong |
For the 2027 UTME, I would aim for at least 190, ideally 200. Few candidates pick WASH on purpose today, but FUAHSE can move candidates who missed Public Health (200) or Nursing (260) into courses with spare seats, and those candidates usually have strong science scores.
Catchment and quota
FUAHSE has not published a catchment list or a quota for this course. Plan on merit.
UTME subjects and O’level for FUAHSE Water Sanitation and Hygiene
This is the weakest point in the public record. JAMB’s brochure, as reprinted by Myschool, has no university entry called Water, Sanitation and Hygiene that I could find on 30 October 2026, and lists online that quote “Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics” for this course are guesses. The closest health entry, Environmental Health Science, asks for:
| Requirement | Closest JAMB entry: Environmental Health Science |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology |
| O’level | Five credits: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics |
| Direct Entry (JAMB general) | Two A’level passes from Biology or Zoology, Chemistry and Physics, plus O’level credits in Mathematics, Physics and English; or an NRN or approved equivalent with five relevant O’level credits |
| Direct Entry (FUAHSE notice) | ND, HND or first degree plus relevant O’level credits |
| Sittings | Not stated by FUAHSE |
My advice is simple: register with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. That combination fits Environmental Health Science, Public Health and every other FUAHSE health course, so a change of course inside FUAHSE stays possible whatever name JAMB gives WASH. Get credits in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in your O’level.
Course name to pick on JAMB: JAMB’s brochure lists this course as no exact entry (closest: Environmental Health Science), and FUAHSE’s cut-off page calls it Water Hygiene and Sanitation. I could not open JAMB’s own list of FUAHSE courses (the Myschool reprint would not load for me), so I can’t confirm that the course appears under FUAHSE on JAMB’s portal or exactly how it is spelt there. FUAHSE’s 2026/2027 Post-UTME form took JAMB registration numbers and the course has a cut-off, which suggests admission ran through JAMB, but the route for a brand-new course is worth confirming. At registration, ask the centre to show FUAHSE’s course options on screen. If the course is not there, do not pick a look-alike; choose another course or school and plan a change of course once FUAHSE confirms the course is on JAMB’s list.

Worked example for a WASH candidate
FUAHSE has not published an aggregate formula, so the useful check is how far your UTME score sits above 180 and above my safe target.
Take Chiamaka, who scored 196 with B2 in Biology, B3 in Chemistry, C4 in Physics, B3 in English and C5 in Mathematics, all in one sitting.
- Eligibility: 196 minus 180 = 16. She clears the WASH cut-off by 16 marks.
- Against my safe target: 196 minus 190 = 6. She is in the competitive range, though below my ideal of 200.
- O’level check: five science-relevant credits in one sitting, uploaded to CAPS. Nothing rules her out.
- Status check: she asks FUAHSE for written confirmation of NUC approval and the course name on CAPS, and keeps SUMAS Public Health as her comparison.
Emeka scored 176. 176 minus 180 = minus 4, so he misses WASH. He still clears FUAHSE’s 170 line for Community Health and the 150 line for SUMAS Public Health.
How to apply for WASH at FUAHSE, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register for the UTME: choose FUAHSE and the WASH option FUAHSE confirms on JAMB’s portal, with Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. If FUAHSE was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution before its screening form opens.
- Upload your O’level on CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre, early. Universities read your grades from CAPS.
- Fill the FUAHSE screening form: go to eportal.fuahse.edu.ng and open the Post-UTME application form for the session. UTME candidates enter their JAMB registration number; Direct Entry candidates start with a phone number. Blogs reported a fee of ₦2,000 for 2026/2027; the invoice the portal generates is what counts.
- Print your slip and keep checking: FUAHSE has not published whether it holds a test, so watch the portal and the official admissions page after you submit.
- Check your status: use FUAHSE’s admission status page and JAMB CAPS. An offer is only real once it appears on CAPS.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. JAMB gives candidates four weeks to accept or reject an offer.
- Pay acceptance and clear: FUAHSE has not published its acceptance fee in any source I reached. Pay only through an invoice generated on the FUAHSE e-portal, and keep every receipt for clearance.
FUAHSE’s admissions page also warns that fake admission information about the university circulates on Facebook. Use only fuahse.edu.ng/admissions and the e-portal, and treat an offer as real only when it shows on JAMB CAPS. In July 2025 the management said that giving or collecting money for admission is forbidden, as Myschool reported.
FUAHSE is a federal university, so its 2026/2027 admissions fell under the deadline JAMB set for public universities. JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for public universities (News Agency of Nigeria, 11 May 2026). JAMB announces each year’s deadlines at its annual policy meeting, so the 2027/2028 date will come from the 2027 meeting. I found no report of when FUAHSE uploaded its 2026/2027 list. If you applied in 2026, CAPS is where your result shows, and our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
Studying Water, Sanitation and Hygiene at FUAHSE
The course sits in FUAHSE’s Faculty of Healthcare Services with Nursing Science, Public Health, Radiography, Community Health, Medical Laboratory Science and Complementary and Alternative Medicine. FUAHSE’s own introduction page says the university was established on 14 March 2024 from the former Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy, has six faculties, and plans for its graduates to leave with a bachelor’s degree plus a professional diploma in an entrepreneurial venture. FUAHSE has not published the duration or curriculum for WASH; most Nigerian B.Sc. health science degrees run four or five years.
Is FUAHSE Water, Sanitation and Hygiene approved?
- March 2024: the Federal Government approved the upgrade of the Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy, Trans-Ekulu, into FUAHSE.
- October 2024: an NUC team began checking 18 of the 22 programmes FUAHSE’s Senate had approved for take-off in 2024/2025, using NUC’s Core Curriculum Minimum Academic Standards as the yardstick (The Sun, 31 October 2024).
- December 2024: FUAHSE announced NUC approval for its first 16 degree programmes. Water, Sanitation and Hygiene was not on that list, and it was not in the 2025/2026 intake either.
- May 2026: the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Emaimo, said NUC approval now covered 27 programmes: the original 16 plus 11 newer ones. The report named only Biotechnology, Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering among the 11. Water, Sanitation and Hygiene was not named (The Sun, 9 May 2026).
- 2026/2027: FUAHSE’s official cut-off list carries 28 courses, the original 16 plus 12 newer ones. That is one more than the 27 approvals the Vice-Chancellor described.
So the course is on FUAHSE’s official list, but no public source I found names it as NUC-approved. It may be one of the eight newer approvals nobody named, or it may be the one course on the list that the count of 27 does not cover. Ask the admissions office for the approval letter.
Who regulates WASH graduates?
No council registers “WASH practitioners” as a separate profession in Nigeria. The nearest regulated field is environmental health, which has its own registration council, EHORECON. I found nothing saying EHORECON will register graduates of a WASH degree, so do not assume a licence comes with it. Ask the department which council, if any, its graduates will sit for.
What you study
- Science base: biology, chemistry, microbiology and basic statistics.
- Water: water sources, treatment, quality testing and supply systems.
- Sanitation: toilets and sewage, solid waste, drainage and safe disposal.
- Hygiene and health: hand hygiene, food safety, waterborne diseases such as cholera, and hygiene promotion in communities.
- Fieldwork: community surveys, project planning and WASH in emergencies.
That outline describes WASH degrees in general. FUAHSE has not released its own course list, so check it with the department.
Careers
WASH graduates work with development organisations and NGOs, state water and sanitation agencies, local government environmental health units, hospitals’ infection control teams and water treatment businesses. For senior roles a master’s degree is common; UNIJOS, for example, runs a Postgraduate Diploma in WASH.

WASH at FUAHSE or Public Health elsewhere?
| Option | 2026/2027 figure | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| FUAHSE Water, Sanitation and Hygiene | 180 (course cut-off) | New course; NUC approval and JAMB name not confirmed |
| FUAHSE Public Health | 200 (course cut-off) | Among the first 16 NUC-approved programmes |
| ESUT Public Health | 180 to apply | State university in Enugu |
| SUMAS Public Health | 150 to apply | State university in Igbo-Eno; NUC-approved, accreditation visit due |
My view: if water and sanitation is what you want to work in, FUAHSE’s course is the most direct route in the South East, provided the university confirms approval in writing. If you want a well-trodden path, take Public Health and specialise in WASH at postgraduate level. Our guide to JAMB change of institution explains how to move your application before screening.
Mistakes that cost WASH applicants
- Reading 150 as the course mark: 150 only opened the screening form. WASH needed 180.
- Picking an arts or commercial combination: register Physics, Chemistry and Biology so every FUAHSE health course stays open.
- Choosing a look-alike course on JAMB: if the WASH option is not on screen, ask FUAHSE before picking anything else.
- Paying before the offer is on CAPS: FUAHSE has warned about fake Facebook posts and admission racketeering.
FUAHSE Water Sanitation and Hygiene cut-off mark: frequently asked questions
Is 175 enough for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene at FUAHSE? No. The 2026/2027 cut-off is 180. With 175 you clear FUAHSE’s 170 courses, such as Community Health.
What JAMB subjects do I need for WASH at FUAHSE? FUAHSE and JAMB have not published a combination for this course. Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology is the safe choice because it fits every FUAHSE health course.
Is FUAHSE’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene course approved by NUC? I could not confirm it. The course was not in the first 16 approvals and was not named among the 11 later ones, so ask FUAHSE in writing.
Which other Nigerian universities offer a WASH degree? I found no other undergraduate WASH degree in Nigeria. UNIJOS runs WASH at postgraduate diploma level, and Public Health is the usual first degree for the field.
Sources and updates
The 2026/2027 course cut-offs come from FUAHSE’s e-portal page 2026-2027 UTME Admission Cutoff Mark, read on 30 October 2026. The 150 minimum, the 8 June to 19 August 2026 window and the Direct Entry routes come from Myschool (4 June 2026); the ₦2,000 fee is from AbsTechConnect (June 2026) and is unofficial. FUAHSE’s official channels and the Facebook warning are on its admissions page; its July 2025 warning against admission racketeering was reported by Myschool. The national minimum of 150, the 31 October 2026 deadline for public universities and the four-week CAPS acceptance window come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). The approval history comes from The Sun (31 October 2024), FUAHSE’s own news report of its first 16 programmes (also reported by Journalist101 and Vanguard on 19 December 2024) and The Sun (9 May 2026). The UTME, O’level and Direct Entry rules are from JAMB’s brochure entry for Environmental Health Science as reprinted by Myschool (read 30 October 2026); no brochure entry for WASH itself was found. FUAHSE’s founding date, faculty count and the entrepreneurship diploma are from its introduction page. The UNIJOS diploma is from UNIJOS. ESUT and SUMAS figures are from our own posts on those schools. Course content and careers describe WASH degrees in general, and the target scores are my advice. FUAHSE has not published a test, an aggregate formula, a quota or an acceptance fee in any source I reached. Checked on 30 October 2026; this page will be updated when FUAHSE publishes its 2027/2028 figures or confirms the course’s approval.
