The FUAHSE Mechanical Engineering cut-off mark is 200 in the UTME. The Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Enugu (FUAHSE), a federal university in Trans-Ekulu, put Mechanical Engineering in the 200 group of its official 2026/2027 UTME admission cut-off list, next to Electrical and Electronics, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering and nine other courses.
2027/2028 update: FUAHSE cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Mechanical Engineering at a health sciences university is new, and some things about it are still unconfirmed. Before you plan around it, here is what I could and could not verify on 30 October 2026:
- FUAHSE’s own list: yes. Mechanical Engineering is on the official 2026/2027 cut-off page at 200.
- NUC approval: not confirmed for this course. It was not among the first 16 programmes NUC approved in December 2024, and it was not one of the three courses named when the Vice-Chancellor said in May 2026 that 11 newer programmes had been approved.
- JAMB’s list of FUAHSE courses: not confirmed. I could not open it, and JAMB’s brochure entry for Mechanical Engineering carries no FUAHSE remark.
- COREN: no accreditation record for FUAHSE found.
If those gaps worry you, the established options in Enugu State are UNN Mechanical Engineering (160 to apply in 2026/2027) and ESUT Mechanical and Production Engineering (160). I compare them further down.
Check before you pay
Before you pay an acceptance fee for Mechanical Engineering at FUAHSE, ask the admissions office in writing whether NUC has approved the course and whether it appears on JAMB CAPS under FUAHSE. Pay only through an invoice from eportal.fuahse.edu.ng, and only after the offer shows on CAPS.

FUAHSE Mechanical Engineering cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 200 | Mechanical Engineering admission cut-off | Official FUAHSE e-portal |
| 2026/2027 | 150 | Minimum UTME score to fill the screening form | Myschool report of the 2026/2027 exercise |
| 2025/2026 | None | Course not offered: FUAHSE’s 2025/2026 intake had 16 courses and no Mechanical Engineering | Studentship reprint, 18 July 2025 |
There is no history to compare yet. FUAHSE’s first degree intake in 2025/2026 covered 16 health and basic science courses, and Mechanical Engineering only appears on the 2026/2027 list. That makes 2027/2028 at best the course’s second intake. A first cut-off of 200 for a department that is just starting tells you FUAHSE is not treating engineering as a fallback course.
All FUAHSE cut-off marks for 2026/2027
Here is the full official list. Every engineering and computing course at FUAHSE sits on the same 200 line.
| 2026/2027 cut-off | FUAHSE courses (names as on the e-portal) |
|---|---|
| 260 | Nursing Science |
| 240 | Radiography |
| 230 | Medical Laboratory Science, Physiotherapy |
| 200 | Public Health, Dental Technology, Dental Therapy, Prosthetics and Orthotics, Software Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Electrical and Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Social Work, Biotechnology, Alternative and Complementary Medicine |
| 180 | Health Care Management, Occupational Therapy, Parasitology and Entomology, Water Hygiene and Sanitation |
| 170 | Speech Therapy, Community Health, Health Information |
| 150 | Human Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology |
Since Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical and Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence all share 200, a strong score does not buy you an easier engineering course here. What separates applicants inside the 200 group is how far above the line they are and how good their O’level grades look.
Safe target score for Mechanical Engineering at FUAHSE (my advice)
FUAHSE does not publish the score of its last admitted candidate. These ranges are my judgement as an admissions adviser.
| Your UTME score | My read for FUAHSE Mechanical Engineering |
|---|---|
| Below 200 | Not eligible for Mechanical Engineering at FUAHSE; consider UNN or ESUT, where 160 opened screening in 2026/2027 |
| 200 to 209 | Eligible, near the line |
| 210 to 229 | Competitive if your Mathematics and Physics grades are strong |
| 230 and above | Strong |
For the 2027 UTME, I would aim for at least 215, ideally 225. A new engineering department usually takes a small first class, and candidates who miss FUAHSE’s 230 to 260 health courses but scored well in Physics and Chemistry can end up competing for the same seats.
Catchment, quota and engineering admission limits
FUAHSE has not published a catchment list or a quota for Mechanical Engineering, so plan on merit. One national change matters here: in July 2026 COREN said NUC and JAMB had approved admission quotas for engineering programmes, so that universities admit only as many students as they can train, putting engineering on the same footing as medicine and law (ThisDay, 8 July 2026). A young department with limited workshops is likely to get a modest quota.
UTME subject combination and O’level for FUAHSE Mechanical Engineering
| Requirement | Mechanical Engineering (JAMB general entry) |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry |
| O’level | Five credits: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and one other science subject |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO or NABTEB (FUAHSE has not published a different list) |
| Sittings | Not stated by FUAHSE; many universities cap it at two |
| Direct Entry (FUAHSE notice) | ND, HND or first degree plus relevant O’level credits |
| Direct Entry (JAMB brochure, general) | Two A’level passes from Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics; or ND upper credit, NCE (Technical) or HND in Mechanical Engineering |
This is the general entry for Mechanical Engineering in JAMB’s brochure, reprinted by Myschool and checked on 30 October 2026. The special remarks list schools such as UNN, FUTO, UNILAG and ABU, but not FUAHSE, so the general entry is what applies. For the fifth O’level credit, Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing or Biology all work under the general rule; Further Mathematics helps most once you start engineering mathematics.
Course name to pick on JAMB: JAMB’s brochure lists this course as Mechanical Engineering, and FUAHSE’s cut-off page calls it Mechanical Engineering. I could not open JAMB’s own list of FUAHSE courses (the Myschool reprint would not load for me), so I can’t confirm that the course appears under FUAHSE on JAMB’s portal or exactly how it is spelt there. FUAHSE’s 2026/2027 Post-UTME form took JAMB registration numbers and the course is on its cut-off list, which suggests admission runs through JAMB, but with a brand-new course that is worth confirming rather than assuming. At registration, ask the centre to show FUAHSE’s course options on screen. If the course is not there, do not pick a look-alike; choose another course or school and plan a change of course once FUAHSE confirms the course is on JAMB’s list.
Direct Entry needs care. FUAHSE’s notice spoke generally of ND, HND and first-degree holders. JAMB’s general entry also lists A’level and NCE (Technical). If you hold an ND in Mechanical Engineering Technology, ask FUAHSE which level it would admit you into before you pay for a Direct Entry form.
How FUAHSE screening works for Mechanical Engineering
FUAHSE’s 2026/2027 Post-UTME form ran online on its e-portal. This is what I could confirm; where the university has said nothing, the table says so.
| Detail | FUAHSE 2026/2027 position | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum UTME score to apply | 150 (the JAMB national minimum for universities) | Myschool, 4 June 2026 |
| Course cut-off | Set per course on the e-portal (see the table above) | FUAHSE e-portal |
| Application window | 8 June to 19 August 2026 (closed) | Myschool, 4 June 2026; AbsTechConnect blog |
| Fee | ₦2,000 reported | AbsTechConnect blog (June 2026); not on an official page I reached |
| How to apply | Online at eportal.fuahse.edu.ng; UTME by JAMB number, Direct Entry by phone number | FUAHSE e-portal |
| Direct Entry | ND, HND or a first degree, plus O’level credits in relevant subjects | Myschool, 4 June 2026 |

Worked example for a Mechanical Engineering candidate
FUAHSE has not published an aggregate formula, so I can’t produce an official screening score. The useful check is how far your UTME score sits above the 200 cut-off and above my safe target.
Take Obinna, who scored 221 with A1 in Mathematics, B2 in Physics, B3 in Chemistry, B3 in English and C4 in Further Mathematics, all in one sitting.
- Eligibility: 221 minus 200 = 21. He clears FUAHSE’s Mechanical Engineering cut-off by 21 marks.
- Against my safe target: 221 minus 215 = 6. He is inside the range I call competitive.
- O’level check: English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and a fifth science credit, one sitting, uploaded to CAPS. Nothing rules him out.
- Status check: before accepting, he asks FUAHSE to confirm NUC approval and the CAPS listing, and keeps UNN as his comparison.
Ifeoma scored 192. 192 minus 200 = minus 8, so she misses every engineering course at FUAHSE this year. She does clear the 160 screening line at UNN and ESUT, where Mechanical Engineering is long established.
How to apply for Mechanical Engineering at FUAHSE, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register for the UTME: choose FUAHSE and Mechanical Engineering, with Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. If FUAHSE was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution before its screening form opens.
- Upload your O’level on CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre, early. Universities read your grades from CAPS.
- Fill the FUAHSE screening form: go to eportal.fuahse.edu.ng and open the Post-UTME application form for the session. UTME candidates enter their JAMB registration number; Direct Entry candidates start with a phone number. Blogs reported a fee of ₦2,000 for 2026/2027; the invoice the portal generates is what counts.
- Print your slip and keep checking: FUAHSE has not published whether it holds a test, so watch the portal and the official admissions page after you submit.
- Check your status: use FUAHSE’s admission status page and JAMB CAPS. An offer is only real once it appears on CAPS.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. JAMB gives candidates four weeks to accept or reject an offer.
- Pay acceptance and clear: FUAHSE has not published its acceptance fee in any source I reached. Pay only through an invoice generated on the FUAHSE e-portal, and keep every receipt for clearance.
FUAHSE’s admissions page also warns that fake admission information about the university circulates on Facebook. Use only fuahse.edu.ng/admissions and the e-portal, and treat an offer as real only when it shows on JAMB CAPS. In July 2025 the management said that giving or collecting money for admission is forbidden, as Myschool reported.
FUAHSE is a federal university, so its 2026/2027 admissions fall under the deadline JAMB set for public universities: 31 October 2026 (News Agency of Nigeria, 11 May 2026). That date has now passed. I found no report of when FUAHSE uploaded its 2026/2027 list, so if you applied this year, check CAPS and FUAHSE’s status page now, and read our JAMB CAPS guide to understand each status.
Studying Mechanical Engineering at FUAHSE
Mechanical Engineering sits in FUAHSE’s Faculty of Health Engineering and Technology with Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics, Mechatronics, Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence. The campus is on Dental Avenue, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu. A B.Eng. in Nigeria normally takes five years, including industrial training; FUAHSE has not published its own duration or curriculum.
Is FUAHSE Mechanical Engineering approved?
This is the approval trail I could trace:
- March 2024: the Federal Government approved the upgrade of the Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy, Trans-Ekulu, into FUAHSE.
- October 2024: an NUC team began checking 18 of the 22 programmes FUAHSE’s Senate had approved for take-off in 2024/2025, using NUC’s Core Curriculum Minimum Academic Standards as the yardstick (The Sun, 31 October 2024).
- December 2024: FUAHSE announced NUC approval for its first 16 degree programmes. Mechanical Engineering was not on that list, and it was not in the 2025/2026 intake either.
- May 2026: the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Emaimo, said NUC approval now covered 27 programmes: the original 16 plus 11 newer ones. The report named only Biotechnology, Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering among the 11. Mechanical Engineering was not named (The Sun, 9 May 2026).
- 2026/2027: FUAHSE’s official cut-off list carries 28 courses, the original 16 plus 12 newer ones. That is one more than the 27 approvals the Vice-Chancellor described.
Put together: the course is on FUAHSE’s official list, but no public source I found names it as NUC-approved. It could be one of the eight unnamed newer approvals, or it could be the one course on the list that the count of 27 does not cover. I can’t tell which, and neither can any blog quoting a cut-off. Ask the admissions office for the NUC approval letter or a written confirmation.
COREN and the engineering question
COREN, the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, registers engineers and accredits university engineering programmes. Its public page of accreditation visits to Nigerian universities names other universities (UNN and ESUT among them) and says nothing about FUAHSE, and I found no COREN report, notice or news item that names FUAHSE. For a department this young that is expected, because accreditation visits normally come once students reach the later years. Still, a B.Eng. that COREN has not accredited by the time you graduate can slow your registration as an engineer, so ask the department when it expects COREN’s visit before you accept.
What you study
- Early years: engineering mathematics, physics, chemistry, technical drawing, workshop practice and computing.
- Core mechanical subjects: thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, strength of materials, machine design, manufacturing processes, and control and instrumentation.
- Practical training: laboratory work, workshop projects and SIWES industrial attachment.
- Careers: manufacturing, oil and gas, power, automotive and maintenance engineering, and, at a health university, hospital equipment and plant maintenance.
That last point is where FUAHSE may differ. A mechanical department inside a health university may lean towards medical devices, hospital plant and rehabilitation equipment, the kind of work its Prosthetics and Orthotics department also touches. FUAHSE has not published a course outline, so treat that as my expectation until the department confirms it.

FUAHSE or an older engineering faculty?
| Option | 2026/2027 figure | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| FUAHSE Mechanical Engineering | 200 (course cut-off) | New course; NUC approval for it not confirmed; no COREN record yet |
| UNN Mechanical Engineering | 160 to apply | Long-running faculty; departmental merit line not published |
| ESUT Mechanical and Production Engineering | 160 (general line) | State university in Enugu; course not named in ESUT’s score bands |
My view: if you clear 200 and FUAHSE confirms the approval in writing, it is a reasonable choice, with a small class and a new campus. If you want certainty about NUC and COREN, UNN or ESUT is the safer first choice, and both asked for a lower score in 2026/2027. Our guide to JAMB change of institution explains how to move your application between schools before screening.
Mistakes that cost Mechanical Engineering applicants
- Reading 150 as the course mark: 150 only opened FUAHSE’s screening form. Mechanical Engineering needs 200.
- Swapping Chemistry for Biology: JAMB’s general entry asks for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
- Assuming the course is on JAMB: check FUAHSE’s options on screen when you register.
- Paying before the offer is on CAPS: FUAHSE has warned about fake Facebook posts and admission racketeering.
- Skipping the approval question: ask about NUC approval and COREN plans before you accept.
FUAHSE Mechanical Engineering cut-off mark: frequently asked questions
Is 190 enough for Mechanical Engineering at FUAHSE? No. FUAHSE’s 2026/2027 cut-off for Mechanical Engineering is 200. A score of 190 cleared the 160 screening line at UNN and ESUT in 2026/2027.
Is Mechanical Engineering at FUAHSE accredited by COREN? I found no COREN record for FUAHSE. The course is new, so ask the department when it expects COREN’s accreditation visit.
Can I use Biology instead of Chemistry for FUAHSE Mechanical Engineering? No. JAMB’s general entry lists Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with Use of English, and there is no FUAHSE remark that allows Biology.
Can I enter FUAHSE Mechanical Engineering through Direct Entry? FUAHSE’s 2026/2027 notice accepted ND, HND and first-degree holders in general terms. Confirm the entry level for Mechanical Engineering with the admissions office before you buy the form.
