Fed Poly Ukana Surveying and Geo-Informatics Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028

The cut off mark for Surveying and Geo-Informatics at Fed Poly Ukana is 100 in the UTME, the JAMB polytechnic minimum the school also used for 2026/2027; there is no separate departmental figure. Includes my safe target score, the subject combination, O’level rules, screening and CAPS steps.

The Fed Poly Ukana Surveying and Geo-Informatics cut off mark is 100 in the UTME. Two sources agree on that number. JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics is 100, and Federal Polytechnic, Ukana asked for at least 100 in the 2026 UTME in its 2026/2027 ND screening notice. Surveying and Geo-Informatics has no separate cut-off.

2027/2028 update: Fed Poly Ukana cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Surveying and Geo-Informatics is on JAMB’s course list for Fed Poly Ukana. The school’s own 2025/2026 notice, as reprinted, is cut off before the end of its course list, so I could not see it there, but JAMB listing it is what lets you choose it on your UTME profile. The verified figures come first, then the Surveying and Geo-Informatics subjects, screening and the CAPS steps.

Both years read 100: JAMB for polytechnics in 2025 and 2026, and Fed Poly Ukana in its 2026/2027 notice. Anyone quoting a separate Surveying and Geo-Informatics cut-off is guessing, because none has been published.

Safe target score for Surveying and Geo-Informatics at Fed Poly Ukana (my advice)

Fed Poly Ukana does not publish merit lists with scores, so the bands below are my own reading for Surveying and Geo-Informatics, not a school rule.

Your UTME scoreMy read for ND Surveying and Geo-Informatics at Fed Poly Ukana
Below 100Not eligible for any ND course this session
100 to 119Eligible with a fair chance
120 to 139Good chance; 120 is the score I would aim for
140 and aboveStrong

120 or more in the 2027 UTME is my target here, with clean credits in the O’level subjects listed below. The minimum only gets you into screening for Surveying and Geo-Informatics; a margin above it is your protection when the department has more applicants than places.

Catchment and state of origin

Candidates from every state can apply, because Fed Poly Ukana is a federal polytechnic. The usual federal pattern spreads places across merit, catchment area and educationally less developed states. Fed Poly Ukana has not said how it splits ND places, so for Surveying and Geo-Informatics I would not assume an automatic advantage for Akwa Ibom candidates or a disadvantage for anyone else.

Fed Poly Ukana Surveying and Geo-Informatics subject combination and O’level requirements

RequirementND Surveying and Geo-Informatics
UTME subjectsUse of English and any three of Chemistry/Agricultural Science, Biology, Economics and Mathematics (as the brochure reprint words it)
O’levelFive credits in Mathematics and Physics plus any three of Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Technical Drawing/Fine Art, Geography, Economics/Commerce, Biology/Agricultural Science, English Language and Basic Electricity
English LanguageThe brochure makes at least a credit in English Language compulsory
Brochure remark for Fed Poly UkanaNone found
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO or NABTEB (named in the school notice)
SittingsNot more than two sittings (school notice)

What I would register for the UTME: English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Economics (Mathematics is the one I would never leave out). Our JAMB Geography syllabus will help you plan your revision.

Of the five credits, Mathematics, Physics and English Language carry the Surveying and Geo-Informatics requirement. Use any free slot for a subject related to the course. The O’level you upload to JAMB CAPS and the one you present at screening should be the same result, so both see identical grades.

Direct Entry and the HND route

There is no Direct Entry into ND year one, and ND Surveying and Geo-Informatics admission runs through the UTME and JAMB CAPS only. Once you have the ND and the one-year industrial attachment, the HND application goes directly to the polytechnic, outside CAPS. Read our guide to Fed Poly Ukana HND admission requirements for the details.

How Fed Poly Ukana screening works

Screening for the 2026/2027 ND full-time intake, Surveying and Geo-Informatics included, was announced by Fed Poly Ukana in August 2026. I read the notice through Myschool’s reprint because the school’s site would not open for me. The reprint cuts off in the middle of the documents list, so some details are missing.

Admission listsFirst batch out by 11 September 2026; third batch reported on 26 October 2026Myschool reports

The 2026/2027 exercise is now mostly at the acceptance stage, with three batches released. JAMB’s 2026/2027 deadline for polytechnics is 31 December 2026, so later batches are still possible; if you chose Fed Poly Ukana in the 2026 UTME and have no offer, keep checking CAPS.

Worked example for an ND Surveying and Geo-Informatics applicant

Take Akpan, who scored 126 in English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Economics, with credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Geography from one sitting.

  1. Eligibility: 126 minus 100 = 26. Akpan is above the school minimum.
  2. Against my safe target: 126 minus 120 = 6. That is inside the range I would aim for.
  3. O’level check: all five credits come from one sitting and cover the core subjects for Surveying and Geo-Informatics, so nothing needs fixing there.
  4. CAPS check: no offer can be approved until that same O’level result is on JAMB CAPS.

Akpan’s UTME margin would count if Fed Poly Ukana ranked on a combined score, as many polytechnics do with UTME and screening scores. The school has not published a formula, so this is only an illustration: UTME divided by 8 (out of 50) plus a screening score out of 50. A score of 126 gives 15.75, and with 30 in screening the total is 45.75 out of 100. A candidate on 110 with the same screening score would have 43.75.

Your chances of getting Surveying and Geo-Informatics at Fed Poly Ukana

  • Surveying usually attracts fewer applicants than the building and engineering courses.
  • A score around 120 to 130 with credits in Mathematics, Physics and English is often enough to compete.
  • If CAPS offers you Urban and Regional Planning or Civil Engineering Technology instead, both use the same maps and measurements.
  • If your name was not on the first Surveying and Geo-Informatics list in 2026, that was not a rejection: Fed Poly Ukana released ND lists in batches.
  • JAMB gave polytechnics until 31 December 2026 to finish 2026/2027 admissions, so a Surveying and Geo-Informatics offer can arrive late in the year.

How to apply for Surveying and Geo-Informatics at Fed Poly Ukana, step by step

  1. Get a profile code: text NIN, a space and the 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the line your NIN is linked to.
  2. Register for the UTME: choose Federal Polytechnic, Ukana and Surveying and Geo-Informatics as JAMB lists it, and sit the subject combination above.
  3. Check your institution choice: if Fed Poly Ukana was not your choice, you need a JAMB change of institution before screening. To move into this course from another one, see JAMB change of course.
  4. Upload your O’level to CAPS: go to an accredited JAMB centre and upload the result with your Mathematics, Physics and English Language credits. Until CAPS shows an O’level result, JAMB cannot approve an offer.
  5. Apply for screening: visit eportal.fedpolyukana.edu.ng, find the ND application page, pay the ₦2,000 fee, fill it in and print your slip.
  6. Go to screening: the portal will say what the exercise involves. Take the slip, the UTME result slip and the original O’level result with your Mathematics, Physics and English Language credits.
  7. Accept on CAPS: sign in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, click Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept it. Our JAMB CAPS guide covers what each status means.
  8. Pay acceptance, then clear: no source I reached gives the Fed Poly Ukana acceptance fee. Only pay through an invoice generated on the school portal, then clear with your printed JAMB admission letter.

Warning

A genuine Surveying and Geo-Informatics offer from Fed Poly Ukana shows up on your CAPS page, because admission comes through JAMB CAPS. Genuine school payments go through a portal invoice generated in your name. Walk away from anyone who offers a “special list” slot or a change of course for money.

Studying Surveying and Geo-Informatics at Fed Poly Ukana

ND Surveying and Geo-Informatics is run by the School of Environmental Studies on the Ukana campus in Essien Udim Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. It trains surveyors’ assistants who measure land, map it and manage map data with GPS and GIS tools.

What you study

These are the usual topics in the NBTE ND curriculum for Surveying and Geo-Informatics. The department has not published its own course list online.

  • Plane surveying and levelling
  • Cadastral and engineering surveying
  • Photogrammetry and remote sensing
  • Geographic information systems (GIS)
  • Survey computation and mathematics
  • Field camps, computing and general studies

Duration and accreditation

Under the usual NBTE structure, ND Surveying and Geo-Informatics takes two years full time, with a short SIWES attachment inside those two years. Those heading for the HND then do the one-year industrial attachment and usually need an ND with at least a Lower Credit. Fed Poly Ukana has not published its own timetable for the course, so treat this as the national pattern.

I found no public record of NBTE approval for Surveying and Geo-Informatics at Fed Poly Ukana. It was not among the eight ND programmes approved after the July 2022 resource inspection (The Will, 10 August 2022), though it may have been approved since. Ask the department about its status before you pay fees, because an unapproved course can cause problems later, such as when you apply for HND.

Careers after the ND

  • Survey technician or field assistant with surveying firms
  • GIS and mapping assistant
  • Technical officer in lands and survey ministries
  • Survey assistant on road, pipeline and building projects
  • HND Surveying and Geo-Informatics, then the path to registration as a surveyor

Mistakes that cost Surveying and Geo-Informatics applicants

  • No Physics credit: the O’level rule asks for Mathematics and Physics.
  • Leaving out Mathematics in the UTME: the reprinted line is unusual, so keep Mathematics in.
  • Not expecting field work: survey camps are part of the course.
  • O’level missing on CAPS: JAMB cannot approve an offer without it.
  • Paying anyone outside the eportal: the ₦2,000 form is paid on eportal.fedpolyukana.edu.ng.

Fed Poly Ukana Surveying and Geo-Informatics: frequently asked questions

What are the JAMB subjects for Surveying and Geo-Informatics at Fed Poly Ukana? The brochure reprint lists English plus any three of Chemistry/Agricultural Science, Biology, Economics and Mathematics. Keep Mathematics in, and confirm on the JAMB e-brochure because the line looks unusual.

Is Physics required for Surveying and Geo-Informatics? At O’level, yes. The brochure asks for credits in Mathematics and Physics plus three others and English.

How much is the Fed Poly Ukana screening form? It was ₦2,000 for 2026/2027, paid through eportal.fedpolyukana.edu.ng. No 2027/2028 price has been announced, so plan with ₦2,000 until it is.

Is 105 enough for Surveying and Geo-Informatics at Fed Poly Ukana? 105 is above 100, which makes you eligible. I would want 120 or more for Surveying and Geo-Informatics to feel safe, so make sure the O’level result is strong.

Sources and updates

The 100 minimum for polytechnics and the 31 December 2026 admission deadline are taken from the News Agency of Nigeria report of JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting (11 May 2026). The 2025 figure of 100 is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025), matched by Blueprint and AllAfrica reports. The 2022 NBTE approvals are from The Will (10 August 2022), and the location is from the NBTE directory. Myschool reports (11 September, 26 October and 31 October 2026) give the admission list dates. On 10 August 2026 Myschool reprinted the school’s screening notice, and that is my source for Fed Poly Ukana’s own 2026/2027 rules (a minimum of 100, five credits in not more than two sittings, a ₦2,000 form on the eportal). For the 2025/2026 course list I used Myschool’s reprint of that year’s ND notice (18 July 2025). Whether Surveying and Geo-Informatics is on JAMB’s list was checked against the Myschool list of Fed Poly Ukana courses. Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s polytechnic brochure (ND Surveying and Geo-Informatics brochure page) is the source for the UTME and O’level requirements. The safe target scores and the worked example are my own advice. Checked 3 November 2026; I will update this page when Fed Poly Ukana publishes its 2027/2028 notice.
