Fed Poly Ukana HND admission requirements follow the national NBTE rules: an ND in a related course, usually at Lower Credit or above, a one-year industrial attachment after the ND, and five O’level credits relevant to the course, including English Language and Mathematics. There is no UTME score or JAMB cut-off for HND. Federal Polytechnic, Ukana runs HND admissions itself, and it released its first and second HND admission lists for 2026/2027 in October 2026.

They are based on the standard NBTE rules and the 2026/2027 HND admission lists, because I could not find Fed Poly Ukana’s own HND form notice. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
I could not find Fed Poly Ukana’s official HND course list or HND form notice. The only detailed HND list I found is on a blog, and it simply copies the ND course list. Below I separate what is official, what follows the standard NBTE rules, and what is unconfirmed.

Who qualifies for HND at Fed Poly Ukana
ND grade
Nigerian polytechnics class ND results on a four-point scale. The bands below are the usual NBTE classes; check the CGPA printed on your own result.

Under the standard NBTE rule, a Pass ND does not shut the door, but you usually need two years of post-ND industrial experience instead of one. Fed Poly Ukana has not published its own wording on Pass holders, so ask before you buy a form.
Industrial attachment year
The one-year industrial attachment, often called IT, comes after the ND. It is separate from the short SIWES placement inside the ND. Keep the letter or certificate from the organisation where you did it, because HND screening normally asks for evidence.
O’level credits
You need five credits relevant to the HND course, normally the same subjects that admitted you to the matching ND: English Language and Mathematics for almost every course, plus the science, business or technical subjects your field needs. If you used two sittings for your ND, the same two results normally work for HND.
A related ND
Your ND should be in the same field as the HND you want, or a close one. For example, HND options such as Microbiology, Biochemistry or Chemistry, where a polytechnic runs them, expect an ND in Science Laboratory Technology. NDs from other accredited polytechnics are normally accepted, but confirm this if you are moving schools.
Fed Poly Ukana HND courses
Fed Poly Ukana has not published an HND course list that I could find. A blog page (schoolings.org, updated 12 March 2026) lists 14 HND courses, but its list is the same as the ND list, so it may be a copy rather than a real HND list. HND courses normally follow the NDs a polytechnic has run for at least one full cycle, and the NBTE approves HND programmes separately from NDs.
These are the ND courses Fed Poly Ukana runs, which is where any HND would come from. Only treat an HND as available when the school’s own HND form lists it.

In 2022 the NBTE approved eight of these NDs after a resource inspection, according to The Will (10 August 2022): Civil, Electrical/Electronic and Computer Engineering, Science Laboratory Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Accountancy and Business Administration and Management. Those approvals were for the ND. I found no public record of HND approvals.
Documents to prepare for Fed Poly Ukana HND screening
The notices I saw do not give a full HND document list, so this checklist is built from what Nigerian polytechnics normally ask for at HND screening. Have each item ready in original and in photocopy, and scan them for any online upload.

If your ND is from another polytechnic, ask that school for your transcript early. Transcripts sent directly between schools can take weeks, and some HND departments will not clear you without one.
How HND admission works at Fed Poly Ukana
HND admission does not go through the UTME or JAMB CAPS. You apply to the polytechnic directly with your ND result, and the polytechnic screens you and publishes its own lists.
- Finish your IT year: get your letter or certificate of industrial attachment.
- Collect your ND result: a statement of result or certificate, and your transcript if your old school sends one.
- Watch for the HND notice: on fedpolyukana.edu.ng and the school portal. The 2026/2027 lists came out in October 2026.
- Buy the form on the portal: pay only through the portal invoice. The ₦5,000 price on a blog is unconfirmed.
- Fill the form and upload documents: O’level results, ND result, IT letter, birth certificate or declaration of age, and passport photographs.
- Attend screening: bring the originals of everything you uploaded.
- Check the HND list: lists come in batches, as they did in 2026/2027.
- Pay acceptance and register: through the portal invoice only.
Warning
Nobody can sell you an HND place. Fed Poly Ukana publishes its own HND lists, and genuine payments go through the school’s portal or official payment channel in your name. If you are told to pay into a personal account for a slot, walk away.
Duration, accreditation and what comes after
The HND runs for two years full time under the standard NBTE structure. HND graduates are mobilised for NYSC, which is one reason the NBTE approval of your HND course matters. Ask the department for the NBTE approval status of the specific HND option before you pay, and keep a copy of the answer.
Fed Poly Ukana is a federal polytechnic in Ukana, Essien Udim Local Government Area, founded in 2014 according to the NBTE directory. As a young school, its HND options are newer than those at older polytechnics, so check approval carefully.
After the HND you can work as a higher technician or officer in your field, register with the professional body where one exists, or apply for a postgraduate diploma or a top-up degree.

Mistakes HND applicants make
- Applying without the IT letter: screening normally asks for proof of the attachment year.
- Choosing an unrelated HND: your ND has to match the HND field.
- Using a different O’level from your ND file: keep your documents consistent.
- Assuming a Pass ND is enough with one year of IT: the standard rule asks for two years.
- Paying agents: HND forms are sold through the school only.
