Amadeus University Cut-Off Mark for Law 2027/2028: Requirements, Subject Combination and Screening

The Amadeus University cut-off mark for Law is the JAMB minimum of 150, but the CLE quota is about 50. See the safe target, subjects, O’level, fees, CAPS steps and the Law approval.

The Amadeus University cut-off mark for Law is 150 in the UTME, the minimum JAMB set for all universities for 2026/2027 at its policy meeting of 11 May 2026. Amadeus has not published a separate Law figure. Its Law degree is new: the Council of Legal Education approved it in 2026 with an initial quota of about 50 students a year, so the real competition is for those 50 places, and 150 alone will rarely be enough.

2027/2028 update: Amadeus cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Law is on Amadeus’s own programme list (“LL.B Law”, Faculty of Law), and the page says admissions start in the 2026/2027 session. But Law was not on the JAMB-style course list for Amadeus that I could check (19 courses, last updated February 2026, before the Council’s approval). The JAMB course name is Law. When you register for the 2027 UTME, check that Amadeus appears under Law on JAMB’s e-brochure; if it does not, choose another university for Law and move to Amadeus later through change of institution, the route Amadeus used for its other new courses in 2025/2026. If you would rather not take that risk, ABSU, Nigerian British University and Lux Mundi University are also on the Council of Legal Education’s approved list for Abia.

Below: the figures, a safe target score (my advice), the UTME subjects and O’level rules, Direct Entry, how Amadeus selects, the official fees, the CAPS steps and what the Council of Legal Education approval means.

There is no history yet because 2026/2027 is the first Law intake. When Amadeus opened Medicine and Pharmacy in 2025/2026 it set its own minimums above 150 (200 and 180). It may do the same for Law in 2027/2028; watch the admission page and portal for a figure.

Safe target score for Law at Amadeus (my advice)

This is my judgement, not an Amadeus rule. Law is a quota course: about 50 places at 100 level. That number is small, and some of those places may go to Direct Entry or change-of-institution candidates. Private-university fees keep the field smaller than at ABSU, but the Council’s quota is what limits you.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Amadeus Law
Below 150Not eligible for any university in 2026/2027
150 to 179Eligible on paper; you need very strong O’level grades and a good interview
180 to 209Reasonable chance with five clean credits including Literature in English
210 and aboveStrong. This is the range I would aim for.

For the 2027 UTME, aim for 200 or more. At that level you can also compete for Law at Nigerian British University and Law at Lux Mundi University, while ABSU Law needs more.

Amadeus Law subject combination and O’level requirements

Amadeus’s admission page asks for five credits including Mathematics and English plus three other relevant subjects, from WASSCE, NECO or GCE. It does not list the Law subjects, so the rest of this table is JAMB’s brochure rule for Law as reprinted on Myschool. Amadeus has no remark on that page.

RequirementLaw
UTME subjects (JAMB general rule)Use of English plus any three Arts or Social Science subjects
The combination I would useUse of English, Literature in English, Government and CRS, IRS or Economics
O’level (JAMB brochure)Five credits including English Language, Literature in English and Mathematics
O’level (Amadeus page)Five credits including Mathematics and English plus three other relevant subjects
SittingsAmadeus’s 2025/2026 admission notice allowed one or two sittings
Direct Entry (JAMB brochure)Two A-level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects, or NCE, ND or a first degree at Second Class Lower

Why I would take Literature in English in the UTME

JAMB’s general rule does not make Literature compulsory in the UTME, and Amadeus has not said it requires it. But many universities do, including UNN, UNIBEN, OAU and UNICAL, and a long list want a Literature credit at O’level. With Literature in your UTME you can change to almost any Law faculty in Nigeria if Amadeus does not work out.

O’level mistakes to avoid

  • No credit in Literature in English. The brochure asks for it, and it is the most common reason Law applicants fail screening.
  • A pass in Mathematics. A few universities accept a pass, but the general brochure line and Amadeus’s own page want a credit.
  • Different names or dates of birth on WAEC, NECO and JAMB records. Fix them before you upload to CAPS.

Direct Entry into Law at Amadeus

JAMB’s brochure accepts two A-level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects, or an NCE, ND or first degree at Second Class Lower. Amadeus has not published its own Direct Entry rule for Law, and with a quota of about 50 it may admit few Direct Entry students. Email admissions@amadeus.edu.ng before you buy a Direct Entry form.

How Amadeus selects Law candidates

Amadeus does not publish a post-UTME test or an aggregate formula. Its admission page says academic performance comes first but that it also weighs character, extracurricular activities and social involvement, and that it makes room for students from underserved communities. A 2024 blog report spoke of an interview and a minimum age of 16; the university’s page confirms neither. For Law I would prepare for an interview anyway: debate, press club or community work is worth mentioning.

Amadeus’s steps are short: choose Amadeus University Amizi through JAMB, then complete the form at admissions.amadeus.edu.ng. JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for private universities, and every offer must pass through CAPS; admission outside CAPS is illegal.

Worked example (illustrative only)

Amadeus has no published scoring method. Many Nigerian universities rank candidates by a 50/50 mix: UTME score divided by 8 (maximum 50) plus O’level points for five relevant subjects (A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6, C6 = 5). I use it here only to show where your strength lies.

SubjectGradePoints
English LanguageB38
Literature in EnglishB29
MathematicsC56
GovernmentB38
CRSC47
O’level total38

A candidate with 208 in the UTME earns 208 ÷ 8 = 26 points, for an aggregate of 64 out of 100. Lifting Mathematics from C5 to B3 adds 2 points, the same as 16 more UTME marks. With only about 50 seats, small differences like that decide who gets in.

Amadeus Law school fees and scholarships

Amadeus publishes its fees on its tuition and fees page. These are the figures it showed when I checked on 29 October 2026. The page says the fees are per session but does not name the session, and it does not say which of the other charges are paid once. Confirm the current schedule with the admissions office before you pay.

ItemAmount
Law tuition (per session)N2,000,000
Acceptance fee (first-year students only, non-refundable)N200,000
Medical insuranceN85,000
Library and ICTN120,000
Laboratory and workshopsN50,000
Hostel, two-person room (per bed space)N900,000
Hostel, four-person room (per bed space, limited)N550,000

The form fee is not on that page. Amadeus also runs scholarships tied to its founder: the Vice-Chancellor told The Sun in November 2025 about the Dr Godwin Nwabunka Foundation scholarship (tuition, services and accommodation for students from low-income homes), a Grooming Centre scholarship for children of the microfinance group’s clients and staff, and a Grooming Endowment Trust scholarship open to Nigerian undergraduates. Ask the admissions office whether these are open for the 2027/2028 intake and what the deadline is.

How to apply for Law at Amadeus, step by step

  1. Create your JAMB profile: send your NIN to 55019 or 66019 from your own line to get a profile code, then register for the UTME at an accredited centre.
  2. Choose Amadeus and Law: pick Amadeus University, Amizi, and “Law” with English, Literature in English and two other Arts or Social Science subjects. If Amadeus is not offered under Law when you register, choose another university and use JAMB change of institution later.
  3. Meet the score: check your result and plan with our guide on what to do with your JAMB score.
  4. Upload your O’level to CAPS: at a JAMB-accredited centre, as soon as your WAEC, NECO or GCE result is out. Amadeus cannot propose you for admission without it.
  5. Apply on the Amadeus portal: register at admissions.amadeus.edu.ng, fill the form and upload your documents. The fee for the form is not published; confirm it on the portal.
  6. Attend any interview or assessment: if the admissions office invites you, take your original O’level results, UTME result slip and birth certificate or age declaration.
  7. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, go to Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. JAMB gives four weeks to accept. Our JAMB CAPS guide shows each screen.
  8. Pay acceptance and school fees: only to Amadeus’s official account, and only after CAPS shows your admission.

Warning

Quiz and classified-ad sites carry posts saying an Amadeus University “post-UTME, Direct Entry and IJMB form is out” with a private phone number to call. Amadeus’s official channels are admissions.amadeus.edu.ng, admissions@amadeus.edu.ng and the phone numbers on amadeus.edu.ng. Never pay for a form or a list through anyone else.

About Amadeus University and its Law programme

Amadeus University is a private university at Amizi, Ikwuano Local Government Area, Abia State. NUC handed over its licence in June 2023 (ThisDay, 17 June 2023), lectures began in September 2024, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio declared it open at its first matriculation on 8 February 2025. Amadeus says NUC granted it a full operational licence on 23 September 2026. The founder is Dr Godwin Nwabunka, chairman of the Grooming Centre board, and the Vice-Chancellor is Prof. Samuel Nzotta. NUC approved Law, Medicine and Pharmacy as new courses in 2025 (the Vice-Chancellor, The Sun, 20 November 2025). Law sits in its own Faculty of Law, which had not named a dean in anything I could find.

For Law, NUC approval is not enough. The Council of Legal Education decides which universities may admit Law students and how many, and only graduates of approved universities are admitted to the Nigerian Law School. The Guardian reported that the Council approved Amadeus at its third-quarter meeting, after a verification visit, with an initial quota of about 50 students at 100 level from 2026/2027. Amadeus appears as entry 15 (“Amadeus University, Amazi”) on the Council’s list of approved universities dated 14 August 2026. That puts it ahead of Clifford University, which is not on that list and was placed under a two-year moratorium in January 2026 for starting Law without approval.

NUC has not yet published an accreditation result for Amadeus Law, which is expected for a course whose first students enter in 2026/2027. The quota is a limit: if a university admits above it, the Council can refuse extra students a place at Law School. Make sure your admission shows on CAPS.

What you study

Amadeus has not published its Law course outline. Nigerian LL.B degrees follow NUC’s curriculum and the Council’s requirements, so expect:

  • Legal methods, the Nigerian legal system and constitutional law
  • Law of contract, law of torts and criminal law
  • Land law, equity and trusts, and commercial law
  • Company law, law of evidence and jurisprudence
  • Electives such as international law, oil and gas law and human rights law, plus a final-year long essay

Careers

After the LL.B you spend a year at the Nigerian Law School and are called to the Bar. Lawyers work in private practice, company legal departments, banks, government ministries and the judiciary, or go into policy, compliance and academia.

Other Abia universities with Law: Abia State University, Nigerian British University and Lux Mundi University.

Amadeus Law cut-off mark: FAQs

What is the Amadeus University cut-off mark for Law for 2027/2028?

Plan with 150, the JAMB minimum used for 2026/2027. Amadeus has not published a Law figure, and with about 50 places I would aim for 200 or more.

Yes. Amadeus is on the Council’s approved list of 14 August 2026, with an initial quota of about 50 students from 2026/2027.

Is Literature in English compulsory for Law at Amadeus?

JAMB’s brochure requires a Literature credit at O’level, but not Literature in the UTME. Take it in the UTME anyway so you can still change to universities that demand it.

Can I pick Amadeus for Law on my JAMB form?

Law was missing from the JAMB-style Amadeus list I checked, which predates the approval. Check JAMB’s e-brochure when you register; if it is still missing, use change of institution later.
