Ritman University Urban and Regional Planning Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028

Urban and Regional Planning is advertised by Ritman University as a new NUC-approved programme but is not yet on JAMB’s list for Ritman. See the 150 minimum, JAMB subjects, what to ask Ritman and alternatives.

There is no published Ritman University cut-off mark for Urban and Regional Planning yet. If JAMB lists the course for Ritman, the minimum will be 150 in the UTME, JAMB’s floor for every Nigerian university in 2026/2027, because Ritman has not set a departmental figure. The bigger issue is the course listing: Ritman advertises Urban and Regional Planning in its Faculty of Environmental Sciences as NUC-approved for 2026/2027, but the course is not on JAMB’s list for Ritman as reprinted by Myschool on 3 November 2026.

2027/2028 update: Ritman University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They are based on JAMB’s 2026 national minimum, because Ritman has not published its own course cut-offs. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Ritman University is a private university on Umuahia Road, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, licensed by the NUC on 5 March 2015. In October 2026 it announced that the NUC had approved 22 new programmes, taking its total to 40, and that it had grown from three faculties to six. Urban and Regional Planning is one of those new programmes. This guide sets out what is confirmed, what you should ask Ritman, the JAMB subject combination checked against the brochure, the CBT screening, and the alternatives if the course is not ready for your intake.

Check before you choose

Urban and Regional Planning is not on JAMB’s course list for Ritman as reprinted by Myschool (checked 3 November 2026). Ask Ritman in writing how 2026/2027 and 2027/2028 candidates are being registered for it, and accept an offer only when it shows on JAMB CAPS. JAMB says admissions done outside CAPS are illegal.

JAMB updates its institution lists as new programmes are added, so this may change before 2027 UTME registration. When registration opens, search for Ritman and Urban and Regional Planning on JAMB’s e-brochure before you pay for anything. If it is still missing, a CAPS offer for it cannot be issued through the normal route.

JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for private universities, so Ritman’s admissions for this cycle run until that date. Public universities had until 31 October 2026, which has passed.

Safe target score (my advice)

Urban and Regional Planning has modest demand. If JAMB lists it for Ritman, 170 or more is a sensible target. This is my judgement, not a Ritman figure. A first intake can be small, which can make places scarcer, or under-subscribed, which can make them easier. Nobody outside Ritman knows which yet.

Urban and Regional Planning admission requirements at Ritman

UTME subject combination

I checked the JAMB brochure entry for Urban and Regional Planning on Myschool’s reprint on 3 November 2026. It has no Ritman remark, which is expected because the course is not on JAMB’s Ritman list yet. If JAMB adds it, the general line is what you plan with. Use of English is compulsory for every candidate and is not one of the three subjects below.

RequirementJAMB brochure (general line)My reading for Ritman
UTME subjectsMathematics, Geography and one of Economics, Physics or ChemistryUse of English, Mathematics, Geography and Economics
O’levelFive credits in English Language, Mathematics and Geography, plus any two of Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Government, Biology, Art, History, IRK/CRK, Social Studies and Technical DrawingFive credits at no more than two sittings, including English and Mathematics (Ritman’s own rule)
Direct EntryTwo A-level passes in Geography and Mathematics, or an upper credit ND or HND in Town Planning or a related disciplineRitman accepts OND, NCE, IJMB and A-level holders for 200 level, plus the five O’level credits

Direct Entry and JUPEB

Ritman’s admissions page accepts OND, NCE, IJMB and A-level holders into 200 level with five O’level credits including English and Mathematics. Its JUPEB programme is for candidates who did not sit the UTME or scored below 140. Ask whether Urban and Regional Planning will take Direct Entry students in its first years; new departments often start with 100-level students only.

Accreditation and professional approval

Ritman’s October 2026 news release says the NUC approved 22 new programmes, and its 2026/2027 advert calls Urban and Regional Planning NUC-approved. NUC approval lets a university start a programme; accreditation comes later, after the first visit, so there is no Urban and Regional Planning row in the NUC’s results to 2025.

I found no TOPREC accreditation for Ritman, which is expected for a new programme. Ask the department.

Duration: Usually four or five years in Nigerian universities.

What to ask Ritman before you register

  1. JAMB course listing: under which JAMB course name and code should an Urban and Regional Planning candidate register Ritman?
  2. Intake: is the department admitting 100-level students in 2026/2027, 2027/2028 or both, and how many places are there?
  3. Approval: can you see the NUC approval letter and the Town Planners Registration Council of Nigeria approval?
  4. Fees: what is the tuition for Urban and Regional Planning? Ritman’s fees page shows a 2024/2025 schedule only as images.
  5. Staff and facilities: which design studios and field sites will students use?

Ritman’s official email on its admissions page is info@ritmanuniversity.edu.ng. Its address is 104b Umuahia Road, Ikot Ekpene.

How Ritman screening works

Ritman’s admissions page says UTME and Direct Entry candidates take a computer-based screening test (CBT). Candidates who pass and fall within the university’s capacity get an offer, and new students then go through an ICT training and orientation programme. Applications are made online at applicant.safapply.com/ritmanuniversity. The page also warns that a false entry on the online form can lead to disqualification.

A myschoolgist post on the 2025/2026 exercise gave a N10,000 administrative fee covering the form and screening. It also said candidates bring a passport photograph, the JAMB result slip and the form with the payment teller to the test. That post is unofficial and undated, and Ritman’s own page gives no price, so confirm before you pay.

Worked example (illustrative)

Ritman has not published how it weighs the CBT against the UTME. Many Nigerian universities use an aggregate out of 100, with the UTME score divided by 8 and the screening score scaled to 50. This shows how such a formula works for Urban and Regional Planning candidates; it is not Ritman’s published method.

StepImohEkaette
UTME score174160
UTME part (score divided by 8, out of 50)21.7520
CBT score (out of 50)2833
Illustrative aggregate (out of 100)49.7553

Whatever formula Ritman uses, the CBT can change the order of candidates, so prepare for it as seriously as you prepared for the UTME.

How to apply, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line you will use for registration. JAMB replies with a profile code that you take to an accredited CBT centre. Dates are in our guide to JAMB 2027 registration dates.
  2. Choose Ritman University and the course correctly: make Ritman University your first choice. Urban and Regional Planning is not yet on JAMB’s list for Ritman, so choose it under that name only if it appears under Ritman on JAMB’s e-brochure when you register; otherwise ask Ritman in writing which course to register. A safe set of UTME subjects is Use of English, Mathematics, Geography and Economics.
  3. Upload your O’level result: go to a JAMB-accredited CBT centre and have your WAEC or NECO result uploaded to your JAMB profile. CAPS cannot move you to admission without it, and awaiting-result candidates must upload before they can be offered a place.
  4. Apply on Ritman’s portal: create an account at applicant.safapply.com/ritmanuniversity, choose UTME or Direct Entry, and select Urban and Regional Planning only if the portal and your JAMB registration agree. Attend the CBT when invited.
  5. Check and accept on CAPS: log in to JAMB’s e-facility portal, open CAPS and accept the offer when it appears. Our guide to JAMB CAPS explains each status.
  6. Pay the acceptance fee and print your letters: pay the university’s acceptance fee only through the channel the university names, then print your JAMB admission letter from the e-facility portal.
  7. Prepare for clearance: keep the original O’level certificate or statement of result, JAMB result slip, birth certificate or declaration of age, local government identification, passport photographs and, for Direct Entry, your A-level, ND or NCE result.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Registering a course that does not appear under Ritman on JAMB’s e-brochure.
  • Accepting a promise of admission that never shows on CAPS.
  • Treating Ritman’s 140 JUPEB threshold as a UTME cut-off.
  • Paying full fees before seeing the course’s NUC approval and council approval.
