Fed Poly Ukana Urban and Regional Planning Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028

No departmental Urban and Regional Planning figure is published at Fed Poly Ukana, so the cut off mark is 100, the JAMB polytechnic minimum the school also used for 2026/2027. See the safe target score, UTME subjects, O’level rules, screening and CAPS steps.

The Fed Poly Ukana Urban and Regional Planning cut off mark is 100 in the UTME. JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics is 100, and the 2026/2027 ND screening notice from Federal Polytechnic, Ukana used the same figure: at least 100 in the 2026 UTME. The polytechnic has not set a separate Urban and Regional Planning cut-off.

2027/2028 update: Fed Poly Ukana cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Choosing Urban and Regional Planning on your UTME profile is straightforward, because it is on JAMB’s list for Fed Poly Ukana and in the school’s 2025/2026 ND admission notice. So it is an established course.

For Urban and Regional Planning there is no published figure in any year, so a number quoted online is a guess. The figures that do exist are JAMB’s 100 for polytechnics in 2025 and 2026 and the same 100 in the Fed Poly Ukana 2026/2027 notice.

Safe target score for Urban and Regional Planning at Fed Poly Ukana (my advice)

The ranges below are my judgement for Urban and Regional Planning, not anything Fed Poly Ukana has published. The school does not release merit lists with scores.

Your UTME scoreMy read for ND Urban and Regional Planning at Fed Poly Ukana
Below 100Not eligible for any ND course this session
100 to 119Eligible with a fair chance
120 to 139Good chance; 120 is the score I would aim for
140 and aboveStrong

Set your 2027 UTME target at 120 or more and get clean credits in Mathematics, Geography and English Language. The minimum gets you into screening. A higher score protects you when more people apply for Urban and Regional Planning than there are places.

Catchment and state of origin

As a federal polytechnic, Fed Poly Ukana admits candidates from every state. Federal institutions usually share places between merit, catchment area and educationally less developed states, but the school has not published how it splits its ND places, Urban and Regional Planning included. Akwa Ibom candidates should not assume an advantage, and candidates from elsewhere should not assume a disadvantage.

O’levelFive credits in Mathematics, Geography and three others from English Language, Economics/Commerce, Fine Art/Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Agricultural Science, History/Government and Business Methods/Bookkeeping and Principles of Accounts; one of the three must be a basic science
English LanguageThe brochure makes at least a credit in English Language compulsory
Brochure remark for Fed Poly UkanaNone found
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO or NABTEB (named in the school notice)
SittingsNot more than two sittings (school notice)

I would register English, Geography, Mathematics and Economics for the UTME. When you plan your revision, our JAMB Geography syllabus will help.

You need five O’level credits, and for Urban and Regional Planning the core ones are Mathematics, Geography and English Language. Spend any free slot on a subject that helps the course. Whatever result you upload to JAMB CAPS, bring the same one at screening, so JAMB and the school are looking at identical grades.

Direct Entry and the HND route

The only way into ND Urban and Regional Planning is the UTME and JAMB CAPS; there is no Direct Entry into the first year of an ND. The HND comes after the ND and a one-year industrial attachment, and you apply for it directly to the polytechnic, not through CAPS. Our Fed Poly Ukana HND admission requirements guide covers it.

How Fed Poly Ukana screening works

Fed Poly Ukana announced 2026/2027 ND full-time screening in August 2026. My source is Myschool’s reprint, because the school website would not open for me, and that reprint stops partway through the documents list, so a few details are missing.

If Fed Poly Ukana was your choice in the 2026 UTME and no offer has come, 2026/2027 is not over for you yet. Three batches have been released and the exercise is mostly at acceptance, but JAMB’s polytechnic deadline is 31 December 2026, so later batches can still appear on CAPS.

Worked example for an ND Urban and Regional Planning applicant

Take Eme, who scored 123 in English, Geography, Mathematics and Economics, with credits in English, Mathematics, Geography, Biology and Economics from one sitting.

  1. Eligibility: 123 minus 100 = 23. Eme is above the school minimum.
  2. Against my safe target: 123 minus 120 = 3. That is inside the range I would aim for.
  3. O’level check: Eme’s five credits include the Urban and Regional Planning core subjects and come from one sitting, so sittings are not an issue.
  4. CAPS check: Eme still has to upload the same O’level result to JAMB CAPS, or no offer can be approved.

Many polytechnics rank applicants by combining the UTME score and a screening score. Purely as an illustration, since Fed Poly Ukana has not published a formula, use UTME divided by 8 (out of 50) plus screening out of 50. With 123, Eme has 15.38; a screening score of 30 makes it 45.38 out of 100. On 110 with the same screening score, another candidate would have 43.75.

Your chances of getting Urban and Regional Planning at Fed Poly Ukana

  • Urban and Regional Planning usually has fewer applicants than the construction courses.
  • A Geography credit is the key; without it you cannot be admitted.
  • If CAPS offers you Surveying and Geo-Informatics or Estate Management instead, both are land courses.
  • Fed Poly Ukana released its 2026 ND lists in batches. A name missing from the first list was not a rejection.
  • JAMB asked polytechnics to finish 2026/2027 admissions by 31 December 2026, so an offer can still come late in the year.

How to apply for Urban and Regional Planning at Fed Poly Ukana, step by step

  1. Create your JAMB profile: on the phone line linked to your NIN, text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019.
  2. Register the right combination: select Federal Polytechnic, Ukana and Urban and Regional Planning as JAMB lists it, and sit the subject combination above.
  3. Upload the O’level result: do this at a JAMB accredited centre. JAMB cannot approve an offer while CAPS shows no O’level result.
  4. Buy the screening form: the ₦2,000 form is on the ND application page of eportal.fedpolyukana.edu.ng. After paying, fill it in and print your slip.
  5. Sort out your choices before screening: a JAMB change of institution is the answer if Fed Poly Ukana was not your choice, and JAMB change of course covers switching into Urban and Regional Planning from another course.
  6. Attend the screening exercise: take your slip, UTME result slip and original O’level result to whatever exercise the portal announces. Make sure the original carries your Mathematics, Geography and English Language credits.
  7. Accept your admission: when Fed Poly Ukana offers you Urban and Regional Planning, log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, go to Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept it. When a status is unclear, our JAMB CAPS guide explains it.
  8. Pay acceptance and clear: the acceptance fee has not been published in any source I reached. Only pay through an invoice generated on the school portal, then complete clearance using your printed JAMB admission letter.

Warning

Do not pay anyone for a “special list” slot or a course change. Fed Poly Ukana admits through JAMB CAPS: a genuine offer shows up on your CAPS page, and genuine fees are paid through a portal invoice generated in your name.

If you still need to sit the UTME, start with when JAMB 2027 registration starts, and once you have a score, see how to check your JAMB result.

Studying Urban and Regional Planning at Fed Poly Ukana

ND Urban and Regional Planning belongs to the School of Environmental Studies. The school is at Ukana, in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. The course trains planning technicians who help plan land use, layouts, roads and services in towns and rural areas.

What you study

The Urban and Regional Planning department has not put its own course list online, so these are the topics the NBTE ND curriculum usually covers.

  • Introduction to planning and planning law
  • Planning drawing and graphics
  • Land use and site planning
  • Surveying and mapping basics
  • Urban and rural geography
  • Statistics, computing and general studies

Duration and accreditation

Two years full time, including a short SIWES placement, is how long an NBTE ND normally runs. After it, the HND needs a one-year industrial attachment and, usually, an ND with at least a Lower Credit. Fed Poly Ukana has not published an Urban and Regional Planning timetable of its own, so plan with that national pattern.

When the NBTE carried out its July 2022 resource inspection at Fed Poly Ukana, it approved eight ND programmes, and Urban and Regional Planning was not among them (The Will, 10 August 2022). There may have been a later approval, but I found no public record. Ask the department for the NBTE approval status before paying fees, because an unapproved course can cause problems later, for example when you apply for HND.

Careers after the ND

  • Planning assistant in town planning authorities and ministries
  • Layout and development control officer
  • GIS and mapping assistant
  • Assistant with planning consultancies and estate developers
  • HND Urban and Regional Planning, then the path to registration as a town planner

Mistakes that cost Urban and Regional Planning applicants

  • No Geography in the UTME or O’level: it is compulsory in both.
  • No basic science among the extra credits: the brochure asks for one.
  • Forgetting the English credit: it is compulsory.
  • O’level missing on CAPS: JAMB cannot approve an offer without it.
  • Paying anyone outside the eportal: the ₦2,000 form is paid on eportal.fedpolyukana.edu.ng.

Fed Poly Ukana Urban and Regional Planning: frequently asked questions

Is Geography compulsory for Urban and Regional Planning at Fed Poly Ukana? Yes. Geography is required in the UTME and as an O’level credit.

What are the JAMB subjects for Urban and Regional Planning? English, Geography and two other relevant subjects. Mathematics and Economics are safe choices.

How much is the Fed Poly Ukana screening form? The 2026/2027 ND screening form was ₦2,000 on eportal.fedpolyukana.edu.ng. Until a 2027/2028 price comes out, budget ₦2,000.

Is 105 enough for Urban and Regional Planning at Fed Poly Ukana? For eligibility, yes: the minimum is 100. For Urban and Regional Planning I would want 120 or more to feel safe, so with 105 put your effort into a strong O’level result.

Sources and updates

The 2026/2027 requirements set by Fed Poly Ukana (minimum 100, five credits at not more than two sittings, ₦2,000 form, eportal) are from the school’s screening notice as Myschool reprinted it on 10 August 2026. The 2025/2026 course list is from Myschool’s reprint of that year’s ND notice (18 July 2025). I took the admission list dates from Myschool reports (11 September, 26 October and 31 October 2026). The Will (10 August 2022) reported the 2022 NBTE approvals, and the NBTE directory gives the location. On the national side, I used the News Agency of Nigeria report on JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting, published 11 May 2026: it sets out the polytechnic minimum of 100 and the 31 December 2026 admission deadline. For 2025, the figure of 100 is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025), and AllAfrica and Blueprint reported the same. The UTME and O’level requirements come from JAMB’s polytechnic brochure in Myschool’s reprint (ND Urban and Regional Planning brochure page). JAMB’s course list here means the Myschool list of Fed Poly Ukana courses. My own advice covers two things: the worked example and the safe target scores. Everything was checked on 3 November 2026, and this page will be updated when Fed Poly Ukana publishes its 2027/2028 notice.
