Adamawa Poly Chemical Engineering Technology Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028

Chemical Engineering Technology is not on JAMB’s course list for Adamawa Poly, and only one blog lists it. Here is what that means, the 100 minimum if it runs, close courses and where else to study it.

I could not confirm that Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola offers ND Chemical Engineering Technology. The course is not on JAMB’s course list for the polytechnic as reprinted by Myschool (18 courses, checked 3 November 2026); it appears only on one blog list (o3schools, 25 November 2025). If Adamawa Poly does run it, the Adamawa Poly cut off mark for Chemical Engineering Technology would be JAMB’s polytechnic minimum of 100, because the polytechnic has published no course figure. Confirm the course on the JAMB e-brochure or CAPS before you choose it.

2027/2028 update: Adamawa Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They are based on JAMB’s 2026 national minimum for polytechnics, because Adamawa Poly has not published its own course cut-offs. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

This page sets out what each source says, the courses on Adamawa Poly’s JAMB list that come closest to Chemical Engineering Technology, other schools where the course is listed, the national entry requirements, and what to do if you have already picked Adamawa Poly for it.

So the only source that names Chemical Engineering Technology at Adamawa Poly is a single blog list, and that same blog states an Adamawa Poly minimum score that does not match JAMB’s polytechnic rules. One blog line is not enough to plan a UTME choice around.

JAMB only lets you choose a course that is on an institution’s list in the e-brochure. If Chemical Engineering Technology is missing there for Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola, you cannot be admitted into it through CAPS, whatever a blog says. Check the e-brochure or the course options shown when you register, and if it is missing, plan with one of the alternatives below.

JAMB set 31 December 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for polytechnics, so admissions for that session run until then. For a 2027 UTME candidate who wants Chemical Engineering Technology at any polytechnic, I would aim for 145 or more. That is my advice as an admissions adviser, not a published rule.

Closest courses on Adamawa Poly’s JAMB list

If you want to stay at Adamawa Poly, these courses are on its JAMB list and share subjects or career paths with Chemical Engineering Technology.

CourseWhy it is closeGuide
Science Laboratory TechnologyChemistry-heavy laboratory work; an HND chemistry option is common at polytechnicsSLT cut-off guide
Mechanical Engineering TechnologySame UTME subjects (Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics) and plant maintenance skillsMechanical guide
Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering TechnologyProcess and storage engineering for cropsAgric Engineering guide
Civil Engineering TechnologySame UTME subjects; water and environmental workCivil guide

Mechanical and Civil take exactly the UTME subjects a Chemical Engineering candidate would already have (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry), so a change of course is usually simple. SLT works if you want to stay close to chemistry itself.

Where else to study Chemical Engineering Technology

Within Adamawa State, Federal Polytechnic, Mubi has Chemical Engineering Technology on its JAMB course list, and its website names Chemical among its engineering departments. If you want a degree instead, Modibbo Adama University, Yola runs Chemical Engineering, with university entry rules.

Whichever school you pick, check that the course appears under that school in the JAMB e-brochure before registering. If you already registered with Adamawa Poly, see the JAMB change of institution guide.

Chemical Engineering Technology entry requirements (JAMB polytechnic brochure)

RequirementND Chemical Engineering Technology
UTME subjectsUse of English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry or Technical Drawing
O’levelFive credits in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, plus any two of Biology/Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics/Basic Electricity, Auto Mechanics, Metal Work, Woodwork, Further Mathematics, English Language, Geography and Economics/Commerce
EnglishAt least a credit in English Language is required
Adamawa Poly remarkNone (the polytechnic is not named on the page)
Minimum UTME score100 at any polytechnic (JAMB, 2026/2027)

These are JAMB’s general polytechnic rules for the course, so they apply at Fed Poly Mubi or IMT Enugu too, subject to each school’s own remarks. I would register Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry rather than Technical Drawing, since Chemistry is at the heart of the course.

If you already chose Adamawa Poly for Chemical Engineering Technology

  1. Check your JAMB profile: see which course and institution are recorded. If the system accepted Adamawa Poly with Chemical Engineering Technology, write down exactly how the course is named.
  2. Ask the polytechnic in writing: when its admission office or portal opens, ask whether ND Chemical Engineering Technology admits in the current session. Keep the reply.
  3. Change course if needed: if it is not offered, do a JAMB change of course to one of the close courses above. Your UTME subjects must fit the new course.
  4. Or change institution: move to a school that lists Chemical Engineering Technology on JAMB, using change of institution.
  5. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do this at a JAMB accredited centre so any offer can be processed.
  6. Watch CAPS: accept a genuine offer on efacility.jamb.gov.ng. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.

Warning

Do not pay anyone who promises admission into a course that is not on the polytechnic’s JAMB list. Every genuine ND admission is made through CAPS, and CAPS can only offer courses listed for that institution.

If you have not yet registered for the 2027 UTME, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts first, and after the exam see how to check your JAMB result.

What ND Chemical Engineering Technology involves

Wherever you study it, ND Chemical Engineering Technology trains technicians for process plants: how raw materials are turned into products, and how the equipment that does it is run and maintained.

  • Chemical process principles and material balances
  • Unit operations: heat transfer, fluid flow and separation
  • Industrial chemistry and laboratory practice
  • Engineering drawing and workshop practice
  • Process control and plant maintenance

Careers

  • Process or laboratory technician in food, beverage and chemical plants

How to check whether a course is on Adamawa Poly’s JAMB list

  1. Use the JAMB e-brochure: on the JAMB portal, search for Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola and read its course list. This is the list CAPS works from.
  2. Watch the registration screen: when you register for the UTME, the course box only shows courses listed for the institution you picked. If Chemical Engineering Technology does not appear under Adamawa Poly, that settles it for the session.
  3. Do not confuse the two Adamawa Poly entries: JAMB also lists “Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola (affiliated to University of Maiduguri)” for degree courses. That entry has a different course list.
  4. Ask the polytechnic: if the course is listed but you see no admission notice for it, ask the admissions office whether it is admitting this session before you pay for screening.

Adamawa Poly ND admission rules that apply to every course

Whatever course you end up choosing at Adamawa Poly, the same entry rules apply. The polytechnic’s adverts (2019/2020 and 2022/2023, as reprinted by Myschool) require Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola as first choice, and five relevant O’level credits in not more than two sittings. NBTE pre-ND results and NTC, NBC or NVC certificates with five relevant credits are also accepted. Blog reprints of the advert add a school-level rule: Science and Technology courses need a credit in Mathematics and at least a pass in English, while Business Studies courses need credits in both.

Mistakes to avoid with Chemical Engineering Technology

  • Trusting one blog list: check JAMB’s list before you register.
  • Paying for screening into an unlisted course: CAPS cannot offer it.
  • Registering Technical Drawing instead of Chemistry: allowed by the brochure, but Chemistry keeps more doors open.
  • No English credit: the brochure requires it for this course.
  • Leaving a change of course too late: make it before screening and admission lists start.

Sources and updates

The course check uses the Myschool reprint of JAMB’s course list for Adamawa State Polytechnic (checked 3 November 2026), the naija-find-uni directory, o3schools (25 November 2025) and Wikipedia. Adamawa Poly’s own website, adamawapoly.edu.ng, did not load during my checks, so I could not see an official course list. The polytechnic minimum of 100 and the 31 December 2026 deadline are from the News Agency of Nigeria report of JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting (11 May 2026); the 2025 figure is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025). The 2019/2020 figure of 120 is from Myschool’s reprint of the polytechnic’s notice (15 July 2019). The entry requirements are from JAMB’s polytechnic brochure as reprinted by Myschool (ND Chemical Engineering Technology brochure page). Federal Polytechnic, Mubi’s listing is from Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s course list for that polytechnic and its own website (both checked 3 November 2026). The safe target score is my own advice. Checked on 3 November 2026; I will update this page if Adamawa Poly confirms the course.
