Fed Poly Mubi Chemical Engineering Technology Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028

The Fed Poly Mubi Chemical Engineering Technology cut off mark is JAMB’s 100 for polytechnics; no departmental figure is published. See the safe target, subjects, O’level rules, screening and CAPS steps.

The Fed Poly Mubi cut off mark for Chemical Engineering Technology is 100 in the UTME, which is JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics for 2026/2027. The Federal Polytechnic, Mubi has not published a separate cut-off for ND Chemical Engineering Technology, and I found no departmental figure for earlier years either.

2027/2028 update: Fed Poly Mubi cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They are based on JAMB’s 2026 national minimum for polytechnics, because Fed Poly Mubi has not published its own course cut-offs. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

The 2026/2027 notice reprint is cut off at “ND Ch…” in the engineering list, which is almost certainly this course, and the polytechnic’s homepage names chemical engineering among its disciplines. Clearing 100 only makes you eligible. This page covers the figures, a safe target score, the subjects, screening and the CAPS steps.

Do not mix this school up with the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi (FUAM). They are two separate federal institutions in the same town. The polytechnic awards the ND and HND and uses the 100 polytechnic minimum; the university awards degrees and follows the 150 university minimum. On your JAMB profile, Fed Poly Mubi is listed as Federal Polytechnic, Mubi (MUBIPOLY on the Myschool reprint of JAMB’s course list).

JAMB kept the polytechnic minimum at 100 in both 2025 and 2026. Fed Poly Mubi may admit above that line for some courses, but it has not announced a figure for Chemical Engineering Technology. If a website quotes an exact “Fed Poly Mubi Chemical Engineering Technology cut-off” such as 140 or 160, ask where it came from.

Safe target score for Chemical Engineering Technology at Fed Poly Mubi (my advice)

This table is my judgement as an admissions adviser. It is not a Fed Poly Mubi rule, and the polytechnic has not published merit lists with scores.

Your UTME scoreMy read for ND Chemical Engineering Technology at Fed Poly Mubi
Below 100Not eligible for any ND course this session
100 to 119Eligible, but close to the floor
120 to 149Reasonable
150 to 179Good
180 and aboveStrong

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 150, with credits in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English.

Catchment and state of origin

Fed Poly Mubi is a federal polytechnic in Adamawa State, but it has not published a catchment list or a quota split for 2026/2027. It admits candidates from across Nigeria. I would not count on a state-of-origin advantage unless the polytechnic’s own notice mentions one.

Fed Poly Mubi Chemical Engineering Technology subject combination and O’level requirements

RequirementND Chemical Engineering Technology
UTME subjectsUse of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or Technical Drawing
O’levelFive credits in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and any two of Biology/Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics/Basic Electricity, Auto Mechanics, Metal Work, Further Mathematics, English Language, Geography, Economics/Commerce. A credit in English Language is required.
Fed Poly Mubi remark in the brochureNone. The only remarks on the page are for IMT-ENU, YABATECH, NEKEDE POLY and IMO-POLY.
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO, NABTEB and GCE are the usual ones; Fed Poly Mubi has not published its own list for this course
SittingsNot stated by Fed Poly Mubi; two sittings is the common polytechnic limit
Interview or practicalNone published

The reprint reads “Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Technical Drawing”. I would register English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Chemistry is the core of the course, and leaving it out for Technical Drawing makes the first year harder.

At O’level you need credits in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English, plus one more from the list. Further Mathematics is a good fifth credit if you have it.

Direct Entry and the HND route

There is no Direct Entry into the first year of an ND. ND Chemical Engineering Technology admission goes through the UTME and CAPS. After the ND and industrial attachment, you can apply directly to the polytechnic for HND Chemical Engineering, which is on the blog list of Fed Poly Mubi HND courses.

For details of the HND form, see our Fed Poly Mubi HND admission requirements guide. The HND course list there comes from a blog, so check it on the portal.

How Fed Poly Mubi screening works

Fed Poly Mubi has not put its 2026/2027 screening details in any source I could reach. Its website at fpmubieportal.edu.ng has an Admission Portal link, and two reprints of the session’s notices exist, but neither gives a fee, a date or a test format. Here is what is known.

Because the polytechnic has not said how it ranks applicants, the safest plan is a UTME score well above 100 and a clean O’level record on CAPS.

Worked example for an ND Chemical Engineering Technology applicant

Fed Poly Mubi has not published an aggregate formula, so start by measuring the gap between your score, the 100 minimum and a safe target. Take Samuel, who scored 162.

  1. Eligibility: 162 minus 100 = 62. Samuel is above JAMB’s minimum for polytechnics.
  2. Against my safe target: 162 minus 150 = 12. That puts the application in a good position.
  3. Subject check: he wrote Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with English, which matches the brochure line.
  4. O’level check: credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Further Mathematics from one sitting, uploaded to CAPS.

Many Nigerian polytechnics rank candidates by a mix of UTME score and screening score. To show how such a mix works, take the UTME score divided by 8 (out of 50) plus a screening score out of 50. Samuel’s 162 gives 20.25, and a screening score of 30 out of 50 would give 50.25 out of 100. A candidate with 110 and the same screening score would have 43.75. This formula is an illustration only. Fed Poly Mubi has not published one.

Your chances of getting Chemical Engineering Technology at Fed Poly Mubi

  • Chemical engineering is usually less crowded than civil or electrical engineering at polytechnics, in my view, so a score around 150 is solid.
  • Weak O’level Chemistry is the main reason good UTME candidates fall short.
  • Ask the admissions office to confirm the course is in the full 2026/2027 list, since the reprint cuts off at its first letters.
  • Polytechnics usually keep admitting until JAMB’s deadline. For the 2026/2027 session JAMB set 31 December 2026 for polytechnics, so keep checking CAPS until then.

If you are offered Science Laboratory Technology instead, it keeps you close to chemistry and has its own HND options at Mubi.

How to apply for Chemical Engineering Technology at Fed Poly Mubi, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME correctly: choose Chemical Engineering Technology and register Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or Technical Drawing. Pick Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, not the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi.
  3. Fix your choice if needed: if Fed Poly Mubi was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution before screening. To move into this course from another one, see JAMB change of course.
  4. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do this at a JAMB accredited centre. JAMB cannot offer you admission while CAPS shows no O’level result.
  5. Fill the screening form: open the Admission Portal link on fpmubieportal.edu.ng, pay only through the invoice the portal generates, complete the form and print every slip it gives you.
  6. Attend screening if called: take your UTME result slip, O’level results and the portal printouts.
  7. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  8. Pay acceptance and clear: Fed Poly Mubi has not published its acceptance fee in any official source I reached. Pay only through a portal invoice in your name, then complete clearance.

Warning

Admission into Fed Poly Mubi comes through JAMB CAPS. If anyone offers you a “special list” slot or a “direct admission” for money, walk away. A genuine offer appears on your CAPS page, and genuine school payments go through a portal invoice in your name.

If you still need to sit the UTME, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts, and when results come out, see how to check your JAMB result. For the Chemistry paper, see our JAMB Chemistry syllabus guide.

Studying Chemical Engineering Technology at Fed Poly Mubi

ND Chemical Engineering Technology sits in the School of Engineering at Fed Poly Mubi. It trains technicians for process plants: how raw materials are turned into products through mixing, heating, separation and reaction, and how the equipment is run safely.

What you study

  • Chemical process principles and material balances
  • Unit operations such as distillation, filtration and drying
  • Physical, organic and inorganic chemistry
  • Fluid mechanics and heat transfer
  • Process instrumentation and plant safety
  • Engineering drawing, workshop practice and technical mathematics

Duration and accreditation

Under the standard NBTE structure, the ND runs for two years full time. Students who want the HND then do a one-year industrial attachment (SIWES or IT) before applying, and the HND usually asks for an ND at Lower Credit or above. Fed Poly Mubi has not published a course timetable, so treat this as the national pattern.

Fed Poly Mubi is a federal polytechnic regulated by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). I could not confirm the current NBTE accreditation status of ND Chemical Engineering Technology itself. Ask the department, or check the NBTE’s list of accredited programmes, before you pay school fees.

Careers after the ND

  • Process or plant operator in food, beverage, cement and chemical plants
  • Laboratory and quality control technician
  • Water treatment plant technician
  • HND Chemical Engineering, then further study

Mistakes that cost Chemical Engineering Technology applicants a place at Fed Poly Mubi

  • Treating 100 as a safe score: it is the minimum to apply, not a promise of admission.
  • Registering Technical Drawing instead of Chemistry: the brochure allows it, but you would be weaker in the core of the course.
  • No credit in English: the brochure says it is required for this course.
  • Choosing the wrong Mubi institution: the polytechnic and the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi are separate choices on JAMB.
  • O’level missing on CAPS: JAMB cannot process your admission without it.
  • Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: acceptance fee payment and clearance at the polytechnic are separate steps.

Sources and updates

The 100 minimum for polytechnics and the 31 December 2026 admission deadline come from the News Agency of Nigeria report of JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting (11 May 2026). The 2025 figure of 100 is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025) and matching Blueprint and AllAfrica reports. The course list is from the Myschool reprint of JAMB’s Federal Polytechnic, Mubi course list and the 2026/2027 ND/HND admission notice reprinted by Myschool on 8 August 2026, which is cut off after the first engineering course. The UTME and O’level requirements are from JAMB’s polytechnic brochure as reprinted by Myschool (Chemical Engineering Technology brochure page), which has no Fed Poly Mubi remark. The homepage mention of chemical engineering is from fpmubieportal.edu.ng. The 2026/2027 post-UTME form report is from AbsTechConnect (12 August 2026) and is unofficial. The polytechnic’s history (founded in 1979, moved from Yola to Mubi in 1982) is from Wikipedia, and the separation from the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi is from Leadership’s report on the 2023 approval of that university. The safe target scores and the worked example are my own advice. Checked on 3 November 2026; this page will be updated when Fed Poly Mubi publishes its 2027/2028 notice.
