Maurid Mbiaso Admission Requirements 2027/2028: Courses and Cut-Off Mark

Maurid Institute of Management and Technology, Mbiaso is listed by NBTE only as an Innovation Enterprise Institution with expired programmes, and I found no accredited ND or JAMB listing. See what that means and accredited alternatives.

Maurid admission requirements are hard to pin down because the school is not what many websites say it is. Blogs call it “Maurid Polytechnic, Mbiaso” and describe ND and HND admissions. NBTE’s records show something else: Maurid Institute of Management and Technology is not on NBTE’s list of polytechnics, and its only entries are as an Innovation Enterprise Institution (IEI), with National Innovation Diploma programmes whose approval expired years ago. I also could not find it on JAMB’s polytechnic list. So there is no Maurid cut-off mark to give you; if you want an ND, the honest advice is to choose an accredited polytechnic instead.

2027/2028 update: admission requirements and entry rules for Nigerian polytechnics usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the rules on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notices (2026/2027). If NBTE or JAMB publishes anything new about Maurid, we will update this page.

This page sets out what NBTE’s directories show, what an IEI is and how it differs from a polytechnic, how to check any school yourself, and which Akwa Ibom polytechnics run the courses Maurid’s IEI used to offer.

What NBTE’s records show

NBTE’s 2020 Directory of Accredited Programmes lists Maurid Institute of Management and Technology twice in its IEI section: number 96 at Oron, approved in 2016, and number 97 at Mbiaso, approved in 2017. The 2025 Directory still has both in the IEI section, with these programmes:

CampusProgramme (NID)Year grantedStatusExpiration date

Maurid does not appear in the 2025 Directory’s polytechnic section, and it is not on NBTE’s Schedule II list of IEIs recommended for upgrade to ND-awarding status. Other Akwa Ibom IEIs, such as Peace Institute of Management and Technology in Abak, are on that list and now run NDs. Maurid is not among them.

IEI or polytechnic: what is the difference?

Both are regulated by NBTE, but they award different certificates. A polytechnic awards the National Diploma (ND) and, where approved, the Higher National Diploma (HND); full-time ND admission goes through JAMB’s UTME and CAPS. An Innovation Enterprise Institution is a private institution that awards the National Innovation Diploma (NID) in specific skills such as software or banking operations.

A school can call itself anything on a signboard or a blog. What decides the certificate you get is NBTE’s approval for the programme you enrol in. For Maurid, NBTE shows no approved ND, and the NIDs it once had expired between 2018 and 2019.

What the blogs say, and why I do not rely on them

Several admission blogs carry pages on “Maurid Polytechnic”, with ND and HND forms, aggregate scores, acceptance fees and admission lists. One, first published in 2019 and edited in March 2026, claims a JAMB minimum of 150 and a long course list that includes education and nursing administration courses. None of those pages cites an NBTE approval or a JAMB listing, the course list does not match anything in NBTE’s records, and education and nursing courses are not the kind a polytechnic or IEI would be approved to run. I would not pay for a form on the strength of any of them.

How to check Maurid, or any school, yourself

  1. Search during registration: when you register for the UTME at a CBT centre or on JAMB’s portal, look for Maurid Institute of Management and Technology in the list of polytechnics. If the name is not there, JAMB cannot send your record to the school.
  2. Check the course under the school: a school can be on JAMB’s list while a course is not. Make sure your exact course appears under it.
  3. Check NBTE’s directory: open NBTE’s latest Directory of Accredited Programmes and find the school’s heading. Look at the status and expiration date for your course.
  4. Ask for letters: ask the school for the NBTE letter for your course and for its JAMB institution code. A school that is admitting legally will have both.
  5. Keep records: keep copies of every receipt and letter. If anything goes wrong, those papers are what JAMB, NBTE or a lawyer will ask for.

If Maurid shows you a current NBTE letter for a named ND course and you can see it on JAMB’s portal, it would be a different story, and we would update this page. Until then, treat any offer of a Maurid ND or HND with great care.

Caution

I found no NBTE-accredited ND or HND at Maurid and no listing on JAMB’s polytechnic list. Do not pay for a “Maurid Polytechnic” form, acceptance fee or school fees until the school shows you NBTE accreditation for your course and the offer appears on JAMB CAPS. JAMB treats admissions outside CAPS as illegal.

If you are already a Maurid student

  • Ask the school, in writing, which programme you are registered on and which NBTE approval covers it. Keep the reply.
  • Check NBTE’s latest directory for that programme under Maurid’s heading.
  • If there is no approval, contact NBTE for advice before paying further fees, and look at transferring to an accredited polytechnic through the UTME.

Maurid admission requirements: FAQs

Is Maurid Polytechnic accredited by NBTE? NBTE lists Maurid Institute of Management and Technology only as an Innovation Enterprise Institution, and its NID programmes expired in 2018 and 2019. I found no NBTE-accredited ND or HND.

What is the cut off mark for Maurid Polytechnic Mbiaso? There is no Maurid cut-off that applies, because NBTE shows no ND programme for it. Accredited polytechnics in Akwa Ibom used JAMB’s minimum of 100 for 2026/2027.

Is Maurid Polytechnic on JAMB portal? I could not find it on the JAMB polytechnic list reprint or on Myschool. Check the JAMB portal yourself before paying anything.

Which polytechnic can I attend instead of Maurid? Federal Polytechnic Ukana, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic at Ikot Osurua, Ibom Metropolitan Polytechnic in Uyo and Ultra Excellence Polytechnic in Uyo all have NBTE-listed ND courses.

Sources and updates

Maurid’s IEI entries and expired NID programmes are from NBTE’s 25th Edition 2025 Directory of Accredited Programmes and NBTE’s 2020 Directory of Accredited Programmes (IEI numbers 96 and 97). The upgrade check used NBTE’s Schedule II list of IEIs approved for upgrade to ND awarding (uploaded November 2025). The JAMB check used a reprint of Chapter 3 of the JAMB brochure and Myschool’s institution lists. The blog claims are from schoolings.org and similar admission blogs, which I treat as unreliable. The 2026/2027 polytechnic minimum of 100, the 31 December 2026 deadline and JAMB’s warning against admissions outside CAPS come from JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria on 11 May 2026; the 2025/2026 figure is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025). Details on the alternative polytechnics come from their 2026 admission notices as reprinted by Myschool. Checked on 3 November 2026. This page will be updated if NBTE or JAMB publishes anything new on Maurid.
