The Akwa Ibom Poly Surveying and Geo-Informatics cut off mark is 100 in the UTME. In 2026/2027 Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua asked ND applicants for “100 and above” in the 2026 UTME, which matches JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics. It has not put out a separate Surveying and Geo-Informatics figure.
2027/2028 update: Akwa Ibom Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
The school’s 2024/2025 course list had Surveying and Geo-Informatics, and JAMB’s course list for Akwa Ibom Poly still has it. The 2026/2027 notice reprint is cut off before this part of the list. JAMB listing the course is what lets you choose it.

Akwa Ibom Poly Surveying and Geo-Informatics cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics | Official |
| 2026/2027 | 100 and above | Akwa Ibom Poly ND cut-off for all ND applicants | Official (school notice, via Myschool) |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics | Official (reported by Nairametrics, 8 July 2025) |
| 2024/2025 | 120 | Minimum reported on a blog’s Akwa Ibom Poly post-UTME page | Unofficial (allschool; no school notice cited) |
| Any year | None | A separate Akwa Ibom Poly cut-off for Surveying and Geo-Informatics | Never published in any source I found |
Blogs reported 120 for 2024/2025; the 2026/2027 notice says “100 and above”, in line with JAMB’s national minimum. No Surveying and Geo-Informatics figure has ever been published, so anyone quoting one is guessing.
Safe target score for Surveying and Geo-Informatics at Akwa Ibom Poly (my advice)
This table is my own call as someone who advises applicants, not a rule set by Akwa Ibom Poly. The school does not publish scored merit lists, so treat these Surveying and Geo-Informatics bands as estimates.
| Your UTME score | My read for ND Surveying and Geo-Informatics at Akwa Ibom Poly |
|---|---|
| Below 100 | Not eligible for any ND course this session |
| 100 to 119 | Eligible with a fair chance |
| 120 to 139 | Good chance; 120 is the score I would aim for |
| 140 and above | Strong |
Aim for 120 or more in the 2027 UTME and clean O’level credits, especially in Mathematics, Physics and English Language. Reaching the minimum only gets you screened; the extra points protect you if Surveying and Geo-Informatics has more applicants than places.
Catchment and state of origin
Is there an indigene advantage for Surveying and Geo-Informatics? Akwa Ibom Poly is owned by the Akwa Ibom State Government, and state polytechnics often favour indigenes in some way, but no 2026/2027 catchment list or quota has been published. The school admits candidates from other states too. Unless a notice mentions it, I would neither count on nor worry about state of origin.
Akwa Ibom Poly Surveying and Geo-Informatics subject combination and O’level requirements
| Requirement | ND Surveying and Geo-Informatics |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English and any three of Chemistry/Agricultural Science, Biology, Economics and Mathematics (as the brochure reprint words it) |
| O’level | Five credits in Mathematics and Physics plus any three of Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Technical Drawing/Fine Art, Geography, Economics/Commerce, Biology/Agricultural Science, English Language and Basic Electricity |
| English Language | The brochure makes at least a credit in English Language compulsory |
| Brochure remark for Akwa Ibom Poly | None found |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO or NABTEB (named in the school notice) |
| Sittings | Not stated in the reprint; most polytechnics accept two sittings |
For Surveying and Geo-Informatics, I would register English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Economics (Mathematics is the one I would never leave out). Our JAMB Geography syllabus will help you plan your revision.
Five O’level credits are needed. Start with Mathematics, Physics and English Language, the core of the Surveying and Geo-Informatics requirement, then fill any free slot with a subject useful for the course. Bring to screening the same result you put on CAPS, so JAMB and the school are reading identical grades.
Direct Entry and the HND route
ND Surveying and Geo-Informatics has no Direct Entry route into the first year; you come in through the UTME and JAMB CAPS only. The HND works differently. After the ND and the one-year industrial attachment, you apply to the polytechnic directly, not through CAPS, as our guide to Akwa Ibom Poly HND admission requirements explains.
How Akwa Ibom Poly screening works
The 2026/2027 ND cut-off and screening fee came out in June 2026, and Akwa Ibom Poly screened ND and HND applicants in September. My source for both is Myschool’s reprints, because the polytechnic’s website would not open for me.
| Detail | What the 2026/2027 notices say | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Who can apply | Candidates who scored 100 and above in the 2026 UTME | Official |
| O’level | Five credits including English Language and Mathematics, from WAEC, NECO or NABTEB | Official |
| Screening fee | ₦2,000 | Official |
| Screening dates | Wednesday 9 to Friday 11 September 2026, from 9:00 a.m. each day | Official; these dates have passed |
| Format | Candidates reported to their departments with their documents, including the WAEC or NECO statement of result | Official; no computer test was mentioned |
| Portal and closing date | Not shown in the reprint | Check the school website, akwaibompoly.edu.ng |
| 2024/2025 (for comparison) | A blog reported 120 and above, a ₦2,000 form and a 30 August 2024 closing date | Unofficial |
The 2026 screening was a departmental document check, according to the notice, and no written or computer test was mentioned. I read that as meaning your UTME score and O’level quality are the main things separating you from other Surveying and Geo-Informatics applicants, with Mathematics, Physics and English Language the grades to get right. Akwa Ibom Poly has not published its ranking method.
Worked example for an ND Surveying and Geo-Informatics applicant
Take Ubong, who scored 124 in English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Economics, with credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Geography from one sitting.
- Eligibility: 124 minus 100 = 24. Ubong is above the school minimum.
- Against my safe target: 124 minus 120 = 4. That is inside the range I would aim for.
- O’level check: the core subjects for Surveying and Geo-Informatics are among the five credits, and all five come from one sitting.
- CAPS check: no offer can be approved until that same O’level result is on JAMB CAPS.
When two candidates bring equally good documents, the higher UTME score is usually ahead. Ubong at 124 would sit above someone on 110 with the same O’level grades. That is an illustration; Akwa Ibom Poly has not published how it ranks applicants after screening.
Your chances of getting Surveying and Geo-Informatics at Akwa Ibom Poly
- Surveying usually attracts fewer applicants than the building and engineering courses.
- A score around 120 to 130 with credits in Mathematics, Physics and English is often enough to compete.
- If CAPS offers you Urban and Regional Planning or Civil Engineering Technology instead, both use the same maps and measurements.
- In 2025/2026, blogs reported several ND list batches from Akwa Ibom Poly. Missing the first list was not a rejection.
- Offers can come late in the year: JAMB asked polytechnics to finish 2026/2027 admissions by 31 December 2026.
How to apply for Surveying and Geo-Informatics at Akwa Ibom Poly, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: on the phone line linked to your NIN, text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019.
- Register the right combination: pick Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua and Surveying and Geo-Informatics exactly as JAMB names it, with the subject combination above.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: a JAMB accredited centre does the upload. No offer can be approved by JAMB while CAPS shows no O’level result.
- Settle your choices early: a JAMB change of institution is the answer if Akwa Ibom Poly was not your choice, and JAMB change of course covers switching into Surveying and Geo-Informatics from another course.
- Apply online: once the notice appears, follow the application link on akwaibompoly.edu.ng, pay the screening fee (₦2,000 in 2026), fill the form and print your slip.
- Attend screening at the department: in 2026 each candidate reported to the department from 9:00 a.m. with documents. Bring your UTME result slip, your screening slip and the WAEC or NECO statement of result, and check that it shows your Mathematics, Physics and English Language credits.
- Accept on CAPS: once Akwa Ibom Poly offers you Surveying and Geo-Informatics, sign in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer. If you are unsure what a status means, the JAMB CAPS guide covers each one.
- Pay acceptance and do clearance: Akwa Ibom Poly has not published its acceptance fee in any source I reached. Use only an invoice generated on the school portal for payment, then clear with your printed JAMB admission letter.
Warning
If someone asks for money to put you on a “special list” or to change your course to Surveying and Geo-Informatics, walk away. Akwa Ibom Poly admits through JAMB CAPS, so a real offer shows on your CAPS page and real payments use a portal invoice generated in your name.
Candidates who have not written the UTME yet should read when JAMB 2027 registration starts. Once results are out, see how to check your JAMB result.
Studying Surveying and Geo-Informatics at Akwa Ibom Poly
ND Surveying and Geo-Informatics is taught in the School of Environmental Studies on the Ikot Osurua campus, off the Aba road near Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State. It trains surveyors’ assistants who measure land, map it and manage map data with GPS and GIS tools.
What you study
Expect topics like these from the NBTE ND curriculum for Surveying and Geo-Informatics. The department itself has not published a course list online.
- Plane surveying and levelling
- Cadastral and engineering surveying
- Photogrammetry and remote sensing
- Geographic information systems (GIS)
- Survey computation and mathematics
- Field camps, computing and general studies
Duration and accreditation
The standard NBTE ND is two years full time and includes a short SIWES attachment. The HND route then needs a one-year industrial attachment, and usually an ND with at least a Lower Credit. There is no Surveying and Geo-Informatics timetable from Akwa Ibom Poly, so treat this as the national pattern.
The school is listed in the NBTE directory (state polytechnic, established 1991), but I could not confirm the NBTE status of ND Surveying and Geo-Informatics on its own. The department can tell you, or you can check the NBTE’s list of approved programmes. Do this before you pay fees.
Careers after the ND
- Survey technician or field assistant with surveying firms
- GIS and mapping assistant
- Technical officer in lands and survey ministries
- Survey assistant on road, pipeline and building projects
- HND Surveying and Geo-Informatics, then the path to registration as a surveyor

Mistakes that cost Surveying and Geo-Informatics applicants
- No Physics credit: the O’level rule asks for Mathematics and Physics.
- Leaving out Mathematics in the UTME: the reprinted line is unusual, so keep Mathematics in.
- Not expecting field work: survey camps are part of the course.
- O’level missing on CAPS: JAMB cannot approve an offer without it.
- Missing the departmental screening: in 2026 it ran for three days only, 9 to 11 September.
Akwa Ibom Poly Surveying and Geo-Informatics: frequently asked questions
What are the JAMB subjects for Surveying and Geo-Informatics at Akwa Ibom Poly? The brochure reprint lists English plus any three of Chemistry/Agricultural Science, Biology, Economics and Mathematics. Keep Mathematics in, and confirm on the JAMB e-brochure because the line looks unusual.
Is Physics required for Surveying and Geo-Informatics? At O’level, yes. The brochure asks for credits in Mathematics and Physics plus three others and English.
When is Akwa Ibom Poly screening? It has passed for 2026/2027: ND and HND applicants were screened from 9 to 11 September 2026. The 2027/2028 dates are not out yet.
Is 105 enough for Surveying and Geo-Informatics at Akwa Ibom Poly? Yes, 105 is above the 100 minimum, so you can apply. For Surveying and Geo-Informatics I would want 120 or more to feel safe, so your O’level result needs to be strong.
Sources and updates
Myschool reprinted the school’s 2026/2027 notice on 27 June 2026; it gives the cut-off of “100 and above” and the ₦2,000 fee for screening. Myschool reported the 9 to 11 September 2026 screening dates on 25 August 2026. The 2024/2025 figure of 120 is from an allschool blog post and is unofficial. The campus location and the founding year are from Wikipedia and the NBTE directory. JAMB’s course list here means the Myschool list of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic courses. On the national side, I used the News Agency of Nigeria report of JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting (11 May 2026): it gives the 100 floor for polytechnics and the 31 December 2026 deadline for admissions. For the year before, the figure of 100 is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025), and AllAfrica and Blueprint reported the same. The Surveying and Geo-Informatics UTME and O’level requirements are from JAMB’s polytechnic brochure as reprinted by Myschool (ND Surveying and Geo-Informatics brochure page). My own advice covers two things: the worked example and the safe target scores. Checked on 3 November 2026; I will update this page when Akwa Ibom Poly publishes its 2027/2028 notice.
