The Clifford University Information Technology cut-off mark 2027/2028 candidates should plan with is 150 in the UTME. Clifford’s 2026/2027 admission notice gives 150 as its JAMB cut-off for every course, the same as JAMB’s national minimum for universities, and no separate Information Technology figure exists.
2027/2028 update: Clifford University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Information Technology appears on Clifford’s admission requirements page and on JAMB’s list of Clifford courses, but it is missing from Clifford’s approved 2026/2027 fee schedule, and I found no NUC accreditation report for it. Its current status is unverified, so confirm with Clifford that it is admitting before you pay anything. The rest of this page covers the requirements, a safe target score, screening, the CAPS steps and alternatives.

Cut-off history for Information Technology at Clifford
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | Clifford’s own stated JAMB cut-off (all courses, including Information Technology) | Official (Clifford homepage admission notice) |
| 2026/2027 | 150 | JAMB national minimum for universities | Official (JAMB policy meeting, 11 May 2026) |
| 2026/2027 (as labelled by a blog) | 130 | Score at which candidates who did not pick Clifford first were invited to screen | Unofficial (O3schools, posted 31 October 2025, before the 2026 UTME) |
| 2022/2023 | 130 | Minimum to apply for the Post-UTME screening, including non-first-choice candidates | Reported by Myschool (30 June 2022) |
| Any year | Not published | A departmental cut-off for Information Technology | Clifford has never published one in any source I reached |
Clifford has not published a cut-off for Information Technology in any year. The general figure of 150 in the 2026/2027 notice is the one to use for 2027/2028 planning.
Safe target score for Information Technology at Clifford (my advice)
Clifford publishes one cut-off for every course, so there is no official departmental figure to quote. The table below is my judgement as an admissions adviser, not a Clifford rule.
| Your UTME score | My read for Information Technology at Clifford |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible. Clifford’s cut-off and JAMB’s university minimum are both 150. |
| 150 to 164 | Eligible. Admission is realistic if your subjects and O’level match Clifford’s list and you screen well. |
| 165 to 179 | A comfortable position for a newer programme at a small private university. |
| 180 and above | Strong. This is the range I would aim for. |
With no applicant numbers published, I would treat Information Technology like its sister programmes: aim for at least 170, ideally 180, and choose subjects that also qualify you for Computer Science, Cyber Security and Information Systems at Clifford. If Information Technology turns out not to be admitting, you can then ask for a change of course without starting over.
UTME subject combination and O’level for Clifford Information Technology
| Requirement | JAMB brochure (Myschool reprint) | Clifford’s own page |
|---|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and one of Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Economics or Geography | English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics |
| O’level | Five credits including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and two other science subjects | Five credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two other relevant science subjects, in not more than two sittings |
| Direct Entry | Two A-level passes in science subjects including Mathematics, or NCE at merit in Mathematics and one other science or social science subject | Two A-level passes in Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics; candidates must also meet the O’level requirement |
| Clifford-specific remark | None naming Clifford, CLU or CU (remarks name FUD, CRESCENT, SALEM, BUK and AUN) | Not applicable |
This is the one place where Clifford is stricter than JAMB. The brochure lets you pick Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Economics or Geography as the fourth subject for Information Technology, but Clifford’s page names Chemistry only. Register English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and you satisfy both lists. If you have already registered with Biology or Economics, call the admissions office before the screening and ask whether they will accept it; do not assume.
Clifford’s O’level list is English, Mathematics, Physics and any two other relevant sciences, in not more than two sittings, which matches JAMB’s main entry. Making Chemistry one of those two keeps your O’level in line with Computer Science as well.
The brochure remarks for Information Technology mention FUD, CRESCENT, SALEM, BUK and AUN. None names Clifford, CLU or CU.
Direct Entry into Information Technology
Clifford asks for two A-level passes from Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics, plus the O’level requirement. Its page has no NCE, ND or HND route for Information Technology.
JAMB’s brochure also allows an NCE at merit in Mathematics and one other science or social science subject. Clifford does not list it, and with the programme’s fee line missing, I would get written confirmation on both the route and the programme before applying.
Clifford’s transfer and Direct Entry page says Direct Entry students are admitted into 200 level and that all of them, except JUPEB candidates, sit a university screening test. You will also need your complete transcript or statement of result before admission is confirmed.
How Clifford screens Information Technology applicants
Clifford has not published the format, date or pass mark of its screening for the coming session. Three things are on record. Its requirements page asks Law applicants for successful performance in the CLU Post-UTME and admission screening, which tells you a screening exercise exists for UTME candidates. Myschool reported in June 2022 that candidates with 130 and above could apply, including those who had not chosen Clifford. And a blog post from October 2025 said the form was free and that an aptitude test would hold on a date to be announced. Clifford has confirmed neither the free form nor the test format.
Under the 2026 rules, that old 130 invitation level no longer helps you. Clifford’s own notice now gives 150 as its cut-off, the same as JAMB’s minimum for universities, and JAMB will not approve a university admission below it.
Worked example (illustrative)
Clifford has not published an aggregate formula. Many Nigerian universities weigh the UTME and their own test equally, so I use a 50:50 split below purely to show how the numbers interact. Your real ranking may be done differently.
- Candidate: Kelechi scored 183 with English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and has B2 in Mathematics, C4 in Physics, C5 in Chemistry, C4 in English and C6 in Further Mathematics from one sitting.
- Eligibility: 183 minus 150 = 33 marks above the cut-off. His subjects fit Clifford’s list for Information Technology and Computer Science.
- UTME half (illustration): 183 divided by 400, times 50 = 22.875.
- Screening half (illustration): a 57% screening score gives 28.5.
- Illustrative total: 22.875 + 28.5 = 51.375 out of 100.
Because Kelechi’s subjects also satisfy Computer Science, a change of course inside Clifford would be straightforward if Information Technology is not admitting. A candidate with Economics instead of Chemistry would have fewer options.
Your chances of admission into Information Technology at Clifford
If Clifford is admitting into Information Technology, a candidate above 150 with the right subjects has a fair chance. The university started academic activities in March 2017 and reported about 1,500 students in 2024, so competition is lighter than at the large public universities in Abia.
The programme’s status is the main risk. A missing fee line and no accreditation report do not prove anything is wrong, though they are good reasons to ask before you commit. Clifford’s Computer Science is fully accredited and accepts the same subjects, which makes it a sound alternative.
Does Clifford University still offer Information Technology?
| Source | What it shows | Checked |
|---|---|---|
| Clifford undergraduate admission requirements page | Lists Information Technology with its UTME, O’level and Direct Entry rules | Yes, 29 October 2026 |
| JAMB course list for Clifford (Myschool reprint) | Lists Information Technology among Clifford’s 35 courses | Yes, 29 October 2026 |
| Clifford approved fee schedule 2026/2027 | No Information Technology line; other science programmes listed at ₦845,000 | Yes, 29 October 2026 |
| NUC accreditation reports | No report found for Information Technology at Clifford | Searched, 29 October 2026 |
On the evidence, the course is approved by JAMB for Clifford and still described on Clifford’s website, but its status for the current session is unverified. Call the admissions lines (08036970755 or 07034871571) and ask two things: is Information Technology admitting for 2027/2028, and what is its fee?
If the answer is no, the closest alternatives at Clifford are Computer Science, Information Systems and Cyber Security, all with the same Faculty of Science fee in 2026/2027. Your English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry combination qualifies you for all three.
How to apply for Information Technology at Clifford, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME correctly: choose Information Technology with English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and pick Clifford University as your institution. First choice is the cleanest route.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do this at a JAMB-accredited centre as soon as your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out. Clifford accepts credits from not more than two sittings.
- Apply on the Clifford portal: the official homepage sends applicants to soap.clifforduni.edu.ng. The homepage does not state a form price, so read the fee on the portal itself before paying. Clifford’s homepage lists 08036970755 and 07034871571 for admission enquiries.
- Take part in the CLU screening: Clifford refers to its Post-UTME and admission screening exercises on its requirements page. Watch the portal and your email for the date and format.
- Accept the offer on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. JAMB gave 2026 candidates four weeks to accept or reject an offer.
- Pay acceptance and register: Clifford lists the acceptance fee as ₦150,000 for 2026/2027. Pay only through the university’s official payment channel, then complete clearance and print your JAMB admission letter.
Confirm before you pay
Information Technology is not on Clifford’s 2026/2027 fee schedule and I found no NUC accreditation report for it. Confirm with Clifford that it is admitting before paying any form or acceptance fee. JAMB also said in May 2026 that admissions outside CAPS are illegal, so a genuine offer must show on your JAMB CAPS page.
When your status changes on CAPS, our JAMB CAPS guide explains what each status means and how to accept.
Clifford University Information Technology school fees: what the schedule shows
| Item (2026/2027) | Amount | Who pays |
|---|---|---|
| Programme fee for Information Technology | Not listed | The 2026/2027 schedule has no Information Technology line |
| Programme fee, other Faculty of Science courses (for comparison) | ₦845,000 | Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information System, Physics and others |
| Acceptance fee | ₦150,000 | New students, after accepting the offer |
| Matriculation fee | ₦50,000 | 100 level only |
| Payment plan | Full payment, or 60% first semester and 40% second semester | Stated on the fees page |
Clifford’s fee schedule, headed “Approved school fees for 2026/2027 academic session”, lists every other Faculty of Science programme at ₦845,000 but has no line for Information Technology. That could be a simple omission, or it could mean the programme is not taking students this session. The schedule does not say which.
If Information Technology is running, I would expect a figure close to the ₦845,000 its sister programmes pay, but that is my guess and not a published fee. Ask the bursary for the exact amount, and what it covers, before you budget. Fees for 2027/2028 had not been published when I checked.
Studying Information Technology at Clifford University
Information Technology is listed under Clifford’s Faculty of Science with Computer Science, Cyber Security and Information Systems. The degree would be a B.Sc. Information Technology.
What you study
- Foundation years: programming, computer fundamentals, mathematics for computing and introductory networking.
- Middle years: systems administration, databases, web and mobile development, networking and operating systems.
- Final years: cloud computing, IT service management, information security, human-computer interaction and a project.
- Industrial training: computing degrees in Nigeria normally include a SIWES placement.
Duration and accreditation
UTME entrants normally spend four years on a B.Sc. in Nigeria, and Direct Entry students start at 200 level. Clifford’s page does not state the duration.
I found no NUC accreditation report for Clifford’s Information Technology programme, and it was not among the eight programmes Clifford announced as fully accredited in March 2023. Its accreditation status is therefore not confirmed. JAMB does list the course among Clifford’s approved courses, which is what allows admission through CAPS. Before you pay, ask Clifford for the programme’s current NUC status. By contrast, Clifford’s Computer Science holds full accreditation with an 82% score.
Careers after the degree
- Network and systems administrator
- IT support and service desk lead in banks, schools and hospitals
- Web and mobile application developer
- Cloud and infrastructure roles, and postgraduate study in IT or networking

Mistakes that cost Information Technology applicants a Clifford place
- Biology, Economics or Geography instead of Chemistry in the UTME: JAMB allows them, but Clifford’s page names Chemistry.
- O’level from three sittings: Clifford accepts two at most.
- O’level not uploaded to CAPS: JAMB cannot approve the admission.
- Waiting too long to accept on CAPS: JAMB gave 2026 candidates four weeks.
- Paying before confirming the programme is running: the 2026/2027 fee schedule has no Information Technology line.
- Picking subjects that only fit one course: English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry keep all four Clifford computing degrees open.
