The Maduka University cut off mark for Medicine and Surgery is 150 in the UTME, because that is the only figure Maduka has given. Maduka’s 2026/2027 admission announcement, as reported by Myschool News on 15 May 2026, gives a single minimum of 150 in the UTME “as approved for the 2026/2027 Session”, which is also JAMB’s minimum for every Nigerian university this year. The same announcement lists Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) first under its College of Medicine and Health Sciences, but it sets no separate, higher MBBS score. For a course this competitive, plan with a much higher score than 150.
2027/2028 update: Maduka University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Before you register, check two things. First, Medicine and Surgery was not on the JAMB-style course list for Maduka that I could check (18 courses, last updated March 2026), even though MBBS heads Maduka’s own 2026/2027 programme and fee list. Second, Maduka is not on the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria’s list of accredited medical schools. In Enugu State, UNN and ESUT are fully accredited by the MDCN, and SUMAS Igbo-Eno and Godfrey Okoye University are partially accredited.
The JAMB course name to register is Medicine and Surgery. When you register for the 2027 UTME, check whether Maduka appears under that course on JAMB’s portal before you make it your first choice. Below you will find the figures, a safe target score, the subjects, the fees reported so far, how Maduka admits, the CAPS steps and what the MDCN position means for you.

Is Medicine and Surgery on Maduka’s JAMB course list?
Settle this first: JAMB can only admit you into a course the university is listed for. I could not open JAMB’s own institution page for Maduka, so I checked two reprints of Maduka’s course list. Universitycourses.ng (updated 1 March 2026) shows 18 courses for Maduka, and an older Myschoolnews list from July 2023 shows 19. Nursing Science, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Science and Physiotherapy are on both. Medicine and Surgery is on neither.
Maduka’s own programme list does include it. The 2026/2027 announcement, as reported by Myschool News and The Vent Republic in May 2026, puts Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences with a fee of ₦4,210,000. AndroidPols printed a ₦3.5 million MBBS fee for 2025/2026, and the university told its April 2025 matriculation that it runs a College of Medicine. The NUC also sent a resource verification team to inspect facilities for Medicine and Surgery, Public Health and Radiography on 16 July 2024.
MBBS at Maduka looks newer than the courses JAMB-style lists carry. That gap can close when JAMB updates its brochure. On registration day, search JAMB’s list of institutions for Medicine and Surgery. If Maduka is there, choose it. If it is not, do not register Medicine with Maduka as first choice and hope; ask the university in writing how its MBBS students were admitted, and keep an MDCN-accredited school in view.
Maduka Medicine cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | Maduka minimum for all undergraduate programmes | Maduka’s 2026/2027 announcement, as reported by Myschool News (15 May 2026) and The Vent Republic (14 May 2026) |
| 2026/2027 | 150 | JAMB minimum UTME score for every university | Official (JAMB policy meeting, 11 May 2026) |
| 2025/2026 | 150 or above | Maduka minimum | Reported by AndroidPols (16 November 2025); no Maduka notice cited |
| 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 | Not published | Separate Maduka cut-off for Medicine and Surgery | No figure in any source I found |
You may see higher numbers online. Campus Ninja (updated May 2026) prints a general Maduka cut-off of 140 and “200 and above” for Medicine, but it calls its course figures estimates and cites no Maduka notice. The 140 is also below the 150 JAMB allowed universities to use in 2026, so it cannot be right for 2026/2027.
Safe target score for Maduka Medicine (my advice)
Maduka has not published how many MBBS places it has or the score of the last candidate it admitted, so this table is my judgement as an admissions adviser. It assumes the course is on JAMB’s list for Maduka in your year.
| Your UTME score | My read for Maduka MBBS |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible for any Nigerian university in 2026/2027 |
| 150 to 199 | Eligible on paper, but weak for Medicine; consider a related health course or IJMB |
| 200 to 229 | Possible at a young private university with strong O’level grades |
| 230 to 259 | Competitive |
| 260 and above | Strong. This is the range I would aim for if you also want UNN or ESUT as options |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 230, with A1 to B3 in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. A score in the 240s also keeps ESUT’s published MBBS minimum of 240 open.
UTME subject combination and O’level for Maduka Medicine
| Requirement | Medicine and Surgery |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology |
| O’level | Five credits: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology |
| Sittings | JAMB’s general rule does not fix it; some universities insist on one sitting. Maduka has not published a rule |
| Direct Entry | A-level passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology, plus the UTME O’level requirements |
| Maduka-specific remark | None in the JAMB brochure |
These come from the JAMB brochure entry for Medicine and Surgery as reprinted by Myschool. The brochure has no Maduka remark, so the general requirement is the one to meet. Do not swap Physics for Mathematics: only a few named universities accept that for Medicine, and Maduka is not one of them.
How Maduka screens Medicine applicants
Maduka has not published a Post-UTME test, an aggregate formula or screening dates for Medicine and Surgery. None of the 2026/2027 reports mentions a written test. What they describe is an online application: you buy the form, enter your UTME and O’level details, choose a programme and print a slip. After that the university decides and sends its offer through JAMB CAPS. Direct Entry and inter-university transfer candidates are also accepted.
So for a Maduka applicant, the three things that carry weight are the ones you can control: a UTME score comfortably above 150, clean O’level credits in the right subjects, and a complete CAPS profile. If Maduka invites you for a test or interview, the invitation will come from the university directly; ignore anyone who asks for money to “process” it.
Worked example
Because Maduka publishes no aggregate formula, the useful calculation is the gap between your score, the 150 minimum and a safe target. This is an illustration, not a Maduka method.
- Chidera scored 241: 241 minus 150 = 91 above the minimum, and 11 above my safe target of 230. With five credits from one sitting, she is a strong Maduka applicant, and 241 also clears ESUT’s 240.
- Ikenna scored 196: 196 minus 150 = 46 above the minimum, but 34 below my target. I would tell him to apply, and also to weigh Maduka’s Nursing, Pharmacy or Medical Laboratory Science, or an IJMB route.
- Both: before paying for the form, each should confirm Maduka appears under Medicine and Surgery on JAMB’s list for 2027.
How to apply to Maduka for Medicine, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN, then take the code to an accredited CBT centre.
- Register the right course: pick Medicine and Surgery with Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. If Maduka is not your first choice, do a JAMB change of institution before the university starts processing admissions.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: at a JAMB office or accredited centre, have your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result uploaded so it shows on your CAPS profile. If you wrote two sittings, upload both.
- Apply on Maduka’s portal: blogs describe the steps as creating a profile, entering your UTME and O’level details, choosing your programme, paying the form fee (₦5,000 in the 2026/2027 reports) and printing the slip. The enquiry details in the university’s July 2026 press release point to admissions.madukauniversity.edu.ng.
- Watch CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Accept or reject an offer there; an offer that is not on CAPS is not a valid admission.
- Pay acceptance and register: the 2026/2027 reports put Maduka’s acceptance fee at ₦50,000, non-refundable, with tuition payable in two instalments on a 60/40 basis. Confirm the amounts on the portal before you pay, and print your JAMB admission letter for clearance.
Warning
Never pay anyone who promises a Maduka MBBS “slot”. The university’s own management has warned that dealings with people who are not its authorised representatives are at your own risk. Pay only through the portal, and accept only an offer that shows on JAMB CAPS.
JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). Public universities had 31 October 2026, and polytechnics and colleges of education have until 31 December 2026. Any Maduka offer for 2026/2027 has to be on CAPS before the private-university date.
If your UTME score falls short, Maduka also runs IJMB and Pre-Degree programmes (reported by Daily Post and summarised on Wikipedia). The 2026/2027 fee reports put its IJMB at ₦800,000 for two semesters, paid at once. IJMB A-level results are one of the routes into 200 level through Direct Entry at many Nigerian universities. Ask Maduka in writing which degree courses its IJMB students can move into before you pay.
Studying Medicine and Surgery at Maduka University
Maduka University is a private university at Ekwegbe, on the Enugu to Nsukka road in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State. It was founded by Dr Samuel Maduka Onyishi, received its NUC licence in 2023 and began its first session in November 2023 with 611 students. The Vice-Chancellor is Prof. Charles Ogbulogo. The 2026/2027 announcement groups the health courses under a College of Medicine and Health Sciences, with Nursing Science and Pharmacy reported as separate faculties.
MDCN and NUC status
Medicine is the one course where regulator approval decides your whole career. Doctors can only be registered by the MDCN, and the council lists the medical schools it has accredited, with each school’s admission quota. On MDCN’s list of accredited medical schools (the version on its website is undated), the Enugu State entries are:
| Medical school | MDCN status | Quota |
|---|---|---|
| University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus | Fully accredited | 180 |
| Enugu State University of Science and Technology | Fully accredited | 120 |
| State University of Medical and Applied Sciences, Igbo-Eno | Partially accredited | 100 |
| Godfrey Okoye University, Ugwuomu-Nike | Partially accredited | 50 |
| Maduka University | Not listed | None |
A new medical school normally goes through NUC approval, then MDCN approval with a quota, before its students move into clinical years. For Maduka, the only public step I could find is the NUC resource verification visit of 16 July 2024, led by Prof. Bello Bala Shehu, which TheCable reported as praising the facilities. No report gives the outcome, and I found no MDCN approval or quota. Ask the university for both in writing before you accept.
Maduka’s first NUC accreditation results came from an exercise in October to December 2025. According to the university’s press release on its NUC results (29 July 2026), seven programmes earned full accreditation: Accounting, Mass Communication, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Economics and International Relations, with scores between 84.8% and 97.0%, valid until 2030. No health programme was among them. New programmes are usually accredited once their first students reach the later years, so the absence is expected for a university this young.
What you study and how long it takes
- Duration: six years is the usual length of an MBBS in Nigeria; Maduka has not published its own.
- Pre-clinical years: basic sciences, then anatomy, physiology and biochemistry, ending in a professional exam.
- Clinical years: pathology, pharmacology, medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, community medicine, with hospital postings.
- After graduation: MDCN provisional registration, a one-year housemanship, then NYSC and full registration.
- Fees reported: ₦4,210,000 for 2026/2027 (up from ₦3,500,000 in 2025/2026), the highest at Maduka. Myschool News says the figure covers tuition and accommodation for a session; feeding is pay-as-you-eat. Confirm with the bursary.

Mistakes that cost Medicine applicants at Maduka
- Assuming the course is on JAMB’s list: check it under Medicine and Surgery before registration.
- Treating 150 as enough: it is the legal floor, far below what MBBS candidates usually score.
- Ignoring MDCN: ask for the approval letter and quota before you pay tuition.
- Dropping Physics: the brochure requires Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- O’level missing from CAPS: no university can admit you on CAPS without it.
- Paying middlemen: offers come only through the portal and CAPS.

Sources and updates
The national minimum of 150 and the 30 November 2026 private-university deadline come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026), and News Central’s list of institution-declared cut-offs from the same meeting has no Maduka entry. Maduka’s 2026/2027 minimum of 150, its College of Medicine and Health Sciences and the 2026/2027 fees, form fee, acceptance fee and 60/40 instalments come from the university’s 2026/2027 admission announcement as reported by Myschool News (15 May 2026) and The Vent Republic (14 May 2026). I did not see the original notice, because the university’s own website could not be reached. Earlier figures are from AndroidPols (16 November 2025, 2025/2026 fees and 150) and AbsTechConnect (24 May 2026), and Maduka’s programme list by college is from Teezab (16 July 2026). The NUC results for seven programmes are from the university’s press release on its NUC results (29 July 2026). School background is from TheCable and Nairametrics (2023 and 2024), Daily Post (April 2025) and Wikipedia. The JAMB course-list check used universitycourses.ng (updated 1 March 2026) and Myschoolnews (19 July 2023), since JAMB’s own Maduka page could not be opened. Subjects and O’level rules are from the JAMB brochure entry for Medicine and Surgery. MDCN status is from MDCN’s list of accredited medical schools. The NUC resource verification visit is from TheCable and Nairametrics (July 2024). The 140 and 200 figures are from Campus Ninja and are unofficial. Checked on 30 October 2026; this page will be updated if Maduka publishes an MBBS cut-off or receives MDCN approval.
