The Clifford University cut-off mark for Chemistry is 150 in the UTME. Clifford University, Owerrinta states 150 as its general cut-off on its 2026/2027 admission notice, the same as JAMB’s national minimum for universities, and it has not published a separate figure for the B.Sc. Chemistry. So 150 is the official floor: reach it, choose Clifford, hold five credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and you can apply.
2027/2028 update: Clifford University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Chemistry sits in Clifford’s Faculty of Science. Below are the official figures, a safe target score (labelled as my advice), the subject combination checked against both JAMB’s brochure and Clifford’s own page, the Direct Entry routes, what is known about screening, the 2026/2027 fees, the CAPS steps and what the degree leads to.
Clifford University cut-off mark for Chemistry: the official position
| Item | Position | Source or status |
|---|---|---|
| JAMB minimum for universities (2026/2027) | 150 | JAMB policy meeting, 11 May 2026 |
| Clifford University general cut-off | 150 | Clifford homepage admission notice, 2026/2027 |
| Clifford cut-off for Chemistry | Not published separately | No course-level figure on any official page |
| Departmental merit cut-off | Not published | Clifford does not release last admitted scores |
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Chemistry and two of Physics, Biology and Mathematics | JAMB brochure (Myschool reprint) and Clifford requirements page |
| O’level | Five credits: English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology; at most two sittings | Clifford requirements page |
| Approved programme amount for 2026/2027 | N845,000 | Clifford fees page |
| NUC accreditation | Not confirmed | Not in the list Clifford has announced |
This page is about Clifford University, the private Seventh-day Adventist university at Ihie, near Owerrinta, in Abia State. Its 2026/2027 admission notice says the JAMB cut-off is 150 and that candidates come in through UTME, Direct Entry or transfer. It gives no separate figure for Chemistry, so 150 is the number every UTME applicant for this course has to reach.
Clifford Chemistry cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | Clifford general cut-off, same as the JAMB minimum | Official, Clifford homepage and JAMB 2026 policy meeting |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | JAMB national minimum for universities | JAMB 2025 policy meeting |
| Any session | None | A Clifford cut-off for Chemistry alone | Not published in any source I reached |
One admissions blog wrote in October 2025 that Clifford invites candidates with 130 and above who did not pick it as first choice. That post appeared before the 2026 UTME, cites no university notice, and sits below the 150 that Clifford itself now states, so do not plan around 130. A July 2025 Myschool news item on Clifford’s 2025/2026 screening gave no score at all. News Central published the full list of cut-offs that institutions declared at JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting, and Clifford is not on it, so there is no separate policy-meeting figure to quote.
Safe target score for Chemistry at Clifford (my advice)
Pure Chemistry attracts fewer applicants than the health and computing courses, and Clifford is a small private university. Even so, 150 leaves you no room if Clifford ranks candidates by score. These bands are my reading as an admissions adviser. Clifford has not published them.
| Your UTME score | My read for Clifford Chemistry |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible for any Clifford degree course |
| 150 to 159 | Eligible; complete O’level and an early application matter most |
| 160 to 179 | Good chance |
| 180 and above | Strong |
For the 2027 UTME, I would aim for 165 or more. If you also want to keep Industrial Chemistry or Biochemistry at another university open, aim a little higher.
UTME subject combination and O’level for Clifford Chemistry
| Requirement | What applies | Source |
|---|---|---|
| UTME subjects (JAMB) | Use of English, Chemistry and any two of Physics, Biology and Mathematics | JAMB brochure (Myschool reprint) |
| UTME subjects (Clifford) | English Language, Chemistry and any two of Physics, Biology and Mathematics | Clifford requirements page |
| JAMB’s O’level rule | Five credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology | JAMB brochure |
| Clifford’s O’level rule | Five credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology | Clifford requirements page |
| Sittings | Not more than two | Clifford requirements page |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO or NABTEB (SSCE or GCE) or equivalent | Clifford requirements page |
JAMB and Clifford agree on Chemistry, so you have three valid combinations: Chemistry with Physics and Mathematics, Chemistry with Biology and Mathematics, or Chemistry with Physics and Biology. I prefer Physics and Mathematics for this course. Physical chemistry and spectroscopy lean hard on both, and the same combination also keeps Industrial Chemistry and many engineering courses open if you change plans.
The O’level side is stricter than the UTME side. You need credits in all three sciences, so a candidate who wrote Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics in the UTME still needs a Biology credit, and the reverse is also true for Physics.
JAMB’s brochure entry for Chemistry carries no remark specific to Clifford University, so the general JAMB rule and Clifford’s own page are the two things to satisfy.
Direct Entry into Chemistry at Clifford
Direct Entry candidates join at 200 level. For Chemistry, Clifford’s page accepts one of these, in addition to the O’level requirements:
- Two A-level passes in Chemistry and any one of Physics, Mathematics or Biology
- ND or NCE with good grades, provided the relevant O’level subjects are in place
JAMB’s general Direct Entry rule for Chemistry is the same A-level pairing: Chemistry plus one of Physics, Mathematics or Biology. JAMB’s general text does not name ND or NCE for this course, and Clifford does not say what grade counts as good. If you are coming in with a diploma or an NCE in Chemistry, check JAMB’s e-brochure when you register for DE and ask Clifford’s admissions office what grade they accept.
Clifford’s Transfer and Direct Entry page adds three general rules: Direct Entry students start at 200 level, they must present a complete transcript or statement of result before admission, and all of them sit a university screening test except JUPEB candidates. Clifford runs its own JUPEB programme, which is one way into 200 level if you have no A-levels.
Clifford Post-UTME screening for Chemistry
Clifford has not published a screening date, fee or test format for Chemistry in any source I could reach. Its own pages confirm two things: the undergraduate requirements page tells applicants to come in through Post-UTME or Direct Entry, and the Direct Entry page says every Direct Entry candidate sits a screening test unless they hold JUPEB. Online applications go through the portal at soap.clifforduni.edu.ng.
A blog post from October 2025 said the form was free and that candidates would write an aptitude test on a date to be announced. Neither point appears on Clifford’s website, so ask the admissions office before you pay anyone for a form.
Worked example (illustrative only)
Clifford publishes no aggregate formula. The example below compares scores with the 150 floor and my target, and, in case a test is set, it uses the 50:50 method common at Nigerian universities (UTME divided by 8, plus half of the screening percentage). This is my illustration only.
- Tobenna: UTME 172 with credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in one sitting. He is 22 above the floor and 7 above my target.
- If there is a test: Tobenna scores 58%. 172 divided by 8 is 21.5; half of 58 is 29. His illustrative aggregate is 50.5.
- Amarachi: UTME 158 (19.75) and 74% at screening (37). Her aggregate is 56.75, ahead of Tobenna with 14 fewer UTME marks.
- Kelechi: UTME 198, but no Biology credit because he dropped Biology in SS2. Clifford lists Biology among the five credits, so he must write it in NECO or GCE first.
Settle the five credits before anything else, then practise English, Chemistry and Mathematics questions in case Clifford sets a test.
Clifford University Chemistry school fees and acceptance fee
Clifford posts its approved fees by programme on its website, under the heading “Approved school fees for 2026/2027 academic session”. The programme figures are labelled only “amount”, so treat them as the yearly charge for the course and ask the bursary what they cover, especially hostel and feeding, which the page does not list.
| Item | Amount (2026/2027) | Who pays |
|---|---|---|
| Acceptance fee | N150,000 | New students, once |
| Matriculation fee | N50,000 | 100 level only |
| Chemistry programme amount | N845,000 | Each session |
| Other Faculty of Science courses (for example Computer Science, Physics, Microbiology) | N845,000 | For comparison |
| Nursing Science and Medical Laboratory Science | N1,740,000 and N1,560,000 | For comparison |
In 2026/2027 terms, a 100-level Chemistry student paying acceptance, matriculation and the programme amount needs N1,045,000 before hostel, feeding, books and personal costs. Clifford lets you pay the programme amount in full, or 60% for the first semester and 40% for the second. The bank account is printed on the fees page; copy it from that page yourself rather than from a message someone forwards to you.
How to apply for Chemistry at Clifford, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space, then your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number linked to your NIN.
- Register for the UTME: choose Chemistry with Use of English, Chemistry and two of Physics, Biology and Mathematics, and pick Clifford University. If Clifford was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution before admission closes.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: at a JAMB office or accredited CBT centre, with your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB details. Clifford cannot offer you admission on CAPS without it.
- Apply on Clifford’s portal: go to soap.clifforduni.edu.ng (the Apply Now button on clifforduni.edu.ng leads there), create your account, choose Chemistry, fill the form and keep your printout.
- Confirm screening: call the admissions lines on Clifford’s homepage (08036970755 or 07034871571) and ask when and how Chemistry candidates will be screened.
- Accept on CAPS: on efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. In 2026 JAMB gave candidates four weeks to accept an offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and fees, then clear: the 2026/2027 acceptance fee was N150,000 and the matriculation fee N50,000. Pay through the official account, then bring your original documents for clearance.
Warning
Clifford University has publicly warned that people pose as its staff. Pay only into the account on Clifford’s official fees page, ignore anyone selling a guaranteed place, and remember that a real offer always shows on JAMB CAPS.
Studying Chemistry at Clifford University
Chemistry is a four-year B.Sc. in Clifford’s Faculty of Science, or three years through Direct Entry at 200 level. Clifford’s Faculty of Science also runs Industrial Chemistry and Biochemistry, so the first two years share a lot with those courses.
Is Clifford Chemistry accredited?
Not confirmed. Clifford’s March 2023 announcement of full NUC accreditation covered eight programmes, and Chemistry was not among them; that list matched the eight courses Clifford introduced in 2022/2023, while Chemistry is one of the older programmes Clifford already ran. A 2024 convocation report said Clifford’s graduates were trained in programmes certified by the NUC, but it named no programme or status. Ask the department for Chemistry’s current NUC status before you pay fees, because accreditation affects NYSC mobilisation and how employers and postgraduate schools read your degree.
What you study
- Foundations: general chemistry, physics, mathematics and biology in 100 level.
- The four branches: inorganic, organic, physical and analytical chemistry, each built up from 200 to 400 level.
- Instrumental methods: spectroscopy, chromatography and other techniques for identifying and measuring substances.
- Applied topics: environmental chemistry, polymer chemistry and natural products.
- Practice: laboratory courses each year, industrial training (SIWES) and a final-year research project.
Chemistry graduates work in quality control and production at food, beverage, paint and pharmaceutical companies, oil and gas laboratories, environmental monitoring, forensic and research institutes, and teaching. Many register with the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON), which regulates chemistry practice, and some go on to postgraduate study.

Mistakes Chemistry applicants make
- Treating 150 as admission: it is only the minimum to be considered.
- Missing one science credit: Clifford names Physics, Chemistry and Biology together with English and Mathematics, so all five are needed.
- Writing a fourth subject outside the list: Geography or Economics do not count for Chemistry.
- Using three sittings: Clifford allows not more than two.
- Stopping at CAPS acceptance: you still pay acceptance and complete clearance.

Clifford University cut-off mark for Chemistry: frequently asked questions
What is Clifford University cut-off mark for Chemistry? Clifford states a general cut-off of 150 for 2026/2027 and has no separate Chemistry figure. I would aim for 165 or more.
What is the JAMB subject combination for Chemistry at Clifford University? Use of English, Chemistry and any two of Physics, Biology and Mathematics. Physics and Mathematics is the pairing I would choose.
Can I study Chemistry at Clifford University without Biology in WAEC? No. Clifford’s O’level list for Chemistry names Biology alongside English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, so you need a Biology credit, and you can combine two sittings to get it.
How much is Clifford University school fees for Chemistry? The approved 2026/2027 amount is N845,000, plus a N150,000 acceptance fee and a N50,000 matriculation fee in 100 level.
Sources and updates
Clifford’s UTME subjects, O’level list, two-sitting rule and Direct Entry options for Chemistry come from its undergraduate admission requirements page (undated, checked 29 October 2026). JAMB’s UTME, O’level and Direct Entry rules for Chemistry are from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure, which carries no Clifford remark, and Myschool’s list of Clifford’s JAMB courses shows Chemistry under that name. The general cut-off of 150, the admission routes, the portal and the admissions phone numbers come from the Clifford University homepage (checked 29 October 2026), which also carries the May 2024 impostor warning. The acceptance, matriculation and programme fees and the 60/40 payment option are from Clifford’s approved fees page for 2026/2027. The Direct Entry screening rule and 200-level entry come from Clifford’s Transfer and Direct Entry page. The national minimum of 150 and the four-week CAPS window come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026); News Central’s list of declared cut-offs from that meeting does not include Clifford. NUC full accreditation for eight Clifford programmes is from Clifford’s news item of 21 March 2023, and the convocation details are from an AllAfrica report of October 2024. The safe target score, subject advice and worked example are my own guidance. Checked on 29 October 2026; this page will be updated if Clifford publishes a course cut-off or screening notice.
