There is no IMT Cyber Security cut off mark yet. The Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, named Cyber Security among eight new programmes in June 2026, but the course is not on IMT’s list in JAMB’s brochure, so a UTME candidate cannot choose it for IMT today. JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics is 100 for 2026/2027, and that is the floor that would apply to any ND course IMT lists.
2027/2028 update: IMT cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
There is a second reason to be careful. NBTE’s January 2026 brochure of approved curricula lists an HND in Cybersecurity and Data Protection, but no ND in cyber security. If IMT’s new course follows that national curriculum, it would be an HND, which you enter with an ND result after the UTME stage. IMT has not said which level it is. For the 2027 UTME, the safe plan is ND Computer Science at IMT. This page sets out the evidence, the figures that apply, the IMT courses to choose instead with their subjects and my safe targets, the CAPS steps and what cyber security training covers.
IMT Cyber Security cut off mark: quick answers
| Question | Answer | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Is Cyber Security on IMT’s JAMB list? | No. It is not among the 35 IMT courses on Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s brochure | Checked 29 October 2026; confirm on your e-brochure |
| Has IMT announced it? | Yes, as one of eight new programmes; level and start date not stated | BusinessDay, 13 June 2026 |
| Is there a national curriculum? | Yes at HND level: HND Cybersecurity and Data Protection. No ND cyber security curriculum is listed | NBTE curricula brochure, January 2026 |
| JAMB minimum for any IMT ND course | 100 | Official (JAMB 2026 policy meeting, reported by NAN) |
| IMT departmental cut-off | Not published for any ND course | No IMT figure for 2025/2026 or 2026/2027 |
| Best UTME choice at IMT today | Computer Science | My advice |
Does IMT offer Cyber Security through JAMB?
Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s brochure lists 35 entries for IMT Enugu. Computer Science is there; Cyber Security is not. I also searched Myschool’s polytechnic brochure pages for any cyber security entry and found only university entries. The only IMT source for the course is the Rector’s June 2026 speech, reported by BusinessDay, which named Cyber Security together with Taxation, Locomotive Engineering, Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and a Diploma in Law among eight new programmes, without a level or start date.
| Source | What it shows | Status |
|---|---|---|
| BusinessDay, 13 June 2026 (Rector’s speech) | Cyber Security named among eight new programmes; level and start not given | Announcement only |
| Myschool reprint of JAMB brochure, IMT Enugu course list | 35 entries; no Cyber Security | Checked 29 October 2026 |
| IMT’s part-time page and Wikipedia’s IMT programme list | No Cyber Security | Checked 29 October 2026 |
| NBTE curricula brochure, January 2026 | HND Cybersecurity and Data Protection; no ND title. Occupational standards for Cyber Security Analyst (Level 3) and Cyber Security Engineer (Level 5) | National list; does not name IMT |
| IMT 2026/2027 ND and HND admission call | Title linked on imt.edu.ng; course list inside not seen | Could not be opened |
So IMT has announced the course, but no UTME candidate can choose it for IMT yet, and the national curriculum points to an HND. If your JAMB e-brochure shows Cyber Security under IMT Enugu when you register for 2027, that overrides this page.
IMT cut-off mark history that applies to Cyber Security applicants
IMT does not publish course-by-course ND cut-off marks. These are the figures that govern any ND course you pick at IMT, plus the old IMT figure blogs keep reprinting.
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics | Official (NAN, 11 May 2026) |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics | Official (Nairametrics and Channels TV, 8 July 2025) |
| 2023 UTME | 120 | IMT’s own ND screening threshold in a 2023 notice | Old; reprinted on blogs under 2026 headings |
No 2026 IMT notice repeats the 120, so do not plan with it. If IMT ever lists Cyber Security for UTME entry, JAMB’s polytechnic minimum will be the legal floor and IMT may set its own figure above it. If it runs as an HND, there is no UTME cut-off at all: entry is by ND result.
How to study cyber security if IMT is your target
Cyber security rests on networking, operating systems and programming, which ND Computer Science already teaches. That is why Computer Science is my first choice at IMT, and it is also the ND that would lead most naturally into an HND in Cybersecurity and Data Protection if IMT runs one.
| Route | How it works | My view |
|---|---|---|
| ND Computer Science at IMT, then HND | Networking, programming, databases and systems in the ND; specialise at HND level | My first choice |
| ND Statistics at IMT | Data analysis and computing; a route into data protection and analytics | A fallback if your score is below my Computer Science target |
| ND Electrical/Electronics at IMT | Hardware, networks and communication systems | Good if you lean towards networks and hardware |
| A university degree in Cyber Security | JAMB lists Cyber Security as a degree; universities need at least 150 in the UTME (2026) | A longer route; check each university’s own list |
For the university route, JAMB’s brochure entry for Cyber Security asks for Mathematics, Physics and one of Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Economics or Geography in the UTME, with five O’level credits including English, Mathematics, Physics and two other sciences. Some universities add their own rules, so read the entry for each school you list.
IMT courses to choose instead in the UTME, with subjects and safe targets
These IMT ND courses do appear on the JAMB brochure list for IMT and sit closest to Cyber Security. The safe targets are my advice, not IMT rules.
| IMT ND course | UTME subjects (with Use of English) | My safe target |
|---|---|---|
| Computer Science | Mathematics, Physics and one of Chemistry, Economics or Geography (IMT requires Physics) | 150 or higher; 170 is comfortable |
| Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology | Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry (IMT also accepts Biology) | 150 or higher; 170 is comfortable |
| Statistics | Mathematics and two others, usually Physics with Economics or Chemistry (brochure entry did not load; confirm on the e-brochure) | 130 or higher; 150 is comfortable |
If you register English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, you meet the subject rules for Computer Science and Electrical/Electronics at IMT, and that combination is also among the ones I suggest for Statistics. It is the safest set for anyone aiming at cyber security.
O’level for these courses
For Computer Science, the brochure asks for five credits including Mathematics and a basic science, and makes English Language and Physics compulsory, but it notes that IMT accepts a pass in Physics at O’level. Physics is still required in the UTME for IMT.
For Electrical/Electronics, JAMB’s brochure asks for five O’level credits: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, plus two more from a list that includes English Language, with a credit in English required. For Statistics, plan on five credits including English and Mathematics, and confirm the rest on the e-brochure.
How IMT screening works for ND science courses
IMT’s website links a notice titled “Call for 2026/2027 admission into ND and HND programs (regular and part-time)”, and applications run through the SLMS application page on portal.imt.edu.ng. The admission result checker sits on the same portal. The 2026/2027 screening fee, dates and test format were not in any official source I could open, so the table keeps what is confirmed apart from what is only reported.
| Detail | What we know | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Who applies | Candidates who chose IMT in the UTME and scored at least the JAMB minimum | Standard JAMB rule |
| Where | portal.imt.edu.ng (SLMS Application) | Confirmed link on imt.edu.ng |
| Screening fee | ₦2,000 in earlier years | Reported by blogs; not dated 2026, confirm on the portal |
| Payment | Interswitch, Enugu State IGR or Quickteller in earlier years | Reported; confirm on the portal |
| Format | Computer-based screening plus O’level upload in earlier years | Reported; IMT has not published the 2026/2027 format |
| HND form | ₦5,000 in earlier years; relevant ND with CGPA of at least 2.50 | Reported in reprinted IMT HND notices; confirm on the portal |
| Admission deadline for polytechnics | 31 December 2026 | Official (JAMB, via NAN) |
| Time to accept an offer on CAPS | Four weeks | Official (JAMB, via NAN) |
Worked example
Take Tobenna, who wants a career in cyber security. He scored 156 in English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and has credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Further Mathematics from one WAEC sitting.
- Course check: Cyber Security is not on IMT’s JAMB list, so CAPS cannot offer it at IMT.
- Pick a route: he chooses Computer Science at IMT. His subjects include Physics, which IMT requires.
- Against my safe target: 156 minus 150 = 6. He is in the competitive band.
- O’level: English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Further Mathematics make five credits with a basic science.
- Later: he takes every networking and security elective he can, and asks IMT whether its Cyber Security course will run at HND level for ND Computer Science graduates.
How to apply to IMT for the 2027 intake, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Check the IMT course list: during registration, open the IMT Enugu list on JAMB’s e-brochure. If Cyber Security is not there, choose Computer Science instead.
- Register for the UTME: Choose Computer Science with English, Mathematics, Physics and one of Chemistry, Economics or Geography (or another course from the table above), and pick IMT Enugu as your polytechnic choice. If you picked another school first, a JAMB change of institution is possible before IMT screening closes, and a JAMB change of course fixes a wrong course.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: go to an accredited CBT centre and have your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result uploaded. If your result was awaiting at registration, upload it as soon as it is out, because an institution cannot recommend you on CAPS without it.
- Fill IMT’s screening form: when the admission call appears on imt.edu.ng, apply on portal.imt.edu.ng, enter your JAMB registration number, pay through the channel the portal names and print your slip.
- Check your result and CAPS: use the result checker on the IMT portal, then log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status and open CAPS.
- Accept within four weeks: JAMB gave candidates four weeks to accept 2026 offers. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains every status you might see.
- Pay acceptance and clear: blogs put IMT’s acceptance fee at ₦25,000, but IMT has not published it in any source I reached. Pay only against an invoice generated on the IMT portal.
Warning
Anyone offering “IMT Cyber Security admission” before the course appears on IMT’s JAMB list or in an official IMT notice is selling something outside the process. All UTME offers appear on JAMB CAPS, and fees go only through invoices on portal.imt.edu.ng.
What Cyber Security covers and where it leads
Cyber security is the work of protecting computers, networks and data from attack, misuse and loss. At diploma level the work is practical: setting up and hardening systems, watching networks for suspicious activity, managing user access, handling incidents and keeping records that satisfy data protection rules. NBTE’s curriculum title, Cybersecurity and Data Protection, reflects that second part.
What you study
IMT has not published an outline for its course, so this describes what cyber security training generally covers.
- Networking: how networks work, routing, firewalls and secure configuration.
- Systems: Windows and Linux administration, user accounts and patching.
- Security operations: monitoring, logs, incident response and vulnerability scanning.
- Cryptography basics: encryption, passwords, certificates and secure communication.
- Law and data protection: privacy, data handling rules and ethics.
- Practical work: laboratory exercises and SIWES placement with an ICT or security team.
Accreditation
At IMT’s Global Homecoming on 13 June 2026, the Rector, Prof. Sunday Gozie Ogbodo, said all courses offered by IMT are now fully accredited, after more than 70% of programmes had lost accreditation by the time he took office in 2024. An NBTE accreditation team visited in November 2025. That statement covers courses IMT already runs. I found no NBTE approval notice naming Cyber Security at IMT, so treat its accreditation as not confirmed until IMT or NBTE publishes it.

Mistakes to avoid
- Waiting for a Cyber Security cut-off that does not exist: IMT has no UTME entry for it yet.
- Picking a course JAMB does not list for IMT: CAPS can only offer what IMT has on the brochure.
- Registering Computer Science without Physics: IMT requires Physics in the UTME for Computer Science.
- Planning with the old 120: that is a 2023 IMT figure for ND courses.
- Paying agents: offers come only through CAPS.
IMT Cyber Security cut off mark: frequently asked questions
Does IMT Enugu offer Cyber Security? IMT announced it as a new programme in June 2026, but it is not on IMT’s JAMB brochure list, so you cannot choose it in the UTME yet.
What is the cut off mark for Cyber Security in IMT? There is none yet. Any ND course IMT does list needs at least 100, JAMB’s 2026 polytechnic minimum.
Is Cyber Security an ND or HND course in polytechnics? NBTE’s January 2026 curricula brochure lists an HND in Cybersecurity and Data Protection and no ND title, so in polytechnics it is currently an HND. IMT has not said which level its course is.
Which course should I choose in JAMB if I want Cyber Security at IMT? Computer Science, registered with English, Mathematics, Physics and one of Chemistry, Economics or Geography.
Sources and updates
The new programme list is from the Rector’s speech reported by BusinessDay (13 June 2026). IMT’s JAMB course list is from Myschool’s IMT Enugu course list, checked on 29 October 2026, and the Computer Science subjects and IMT remarks from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure entry for Computer Science (polytechnic). The university Cyber Security subjects are from Myschool’s reprint of the Cyber Security (university) entry. The HND Cybersecurity and Data Protection curriculum and the occupational standards are listed in NBTE’s January 2026 curricula brochure. The 100 minimum, the 31 December 2026 polytechnic admission deadline and the four-week acceptance window come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026); the university minimum of 150 is from JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting. The 120 figure is from a 2023 IMT notice reprinted by O3schools. Screening and acceptance fees and the HND rule are from blogs and unofficial. Safe targets are my advice. This page will be updated when IMT lists Cyber Security for admission.
