The CCU Statistics cut-off mark is 150, the JAMB national minimum for universities in 2026/2027. Coal City University, Enugu, has not published a cut-off of its own for Statistics or for any other department, so 150 in the UTME with CCU on your JAMB form is what makes you eligible.
2027/2028 update: CCU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Statistics is on CCU’s JAMB course list as Statistics, and B.Sc. Statistics is named in the Faculty of Natural & Applied Sciences in CCU’s 2026/2027 admission advert. Three cautions: CCU’s own Faculty of Natural & Applied Sciences web page (last updated December 2025) names only Microbiology, Biochemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science; Statistics has no row in the NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 list (September 2026), whose CCU section has only Biochemistry, Computer Science and Microbiology under Sciences; and JAMB’s subject line for Statistics was blank on the brochure copy I checked. Confirm the programme, its NUC status and your subjects with CCU before you pay acceptance. If Statistics turns out not to be admitting, Computer Science (Full until 2029) is the closest CCU alternative with a published NUC result.

| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | JAMB national minimum for universities | Official (JAMB 2026 policy meeting, 11 May 2026) |

Safe target score for Statistics at CCU (my advice)
This is my judgement, not a CCU rule. Statistics is a small course at most Nigerian universities and CCU is a private university founded in 2016, so applicant numbers are modest. Your Mathematics grades will matter as much as your UTME total.
| Your UTME score | My read for Statistics at CCU |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible for any university course in Nigeria this session |
| 150 to 169 | Eligible. A place is possible if your O’level is clean and in the right subjects |
| 170 to 199 | Comfortable for a private university of CCU’s size |
| 200 and above | Strong. Your O’level and documents become the only real questions |
Aim for 180 or more in the 2027 UTME, with at least a B3 in O’level Mathematics. That keeps you safe at CCU and competitive elsewhere.
UTME subject combination and O’level for Statistics at CCU
Myschool’s copy of the JAMB brochure page for Statistics loaded with every section empty when I checked on 30 October 2026, and no other copy I tried had the text. The table below gives the combination usually used for B.Sc. Statistics in Nigeria. Treat it as a guide and confirm the exact line on your JAMB e-Facility profile or the official e-brochure before you register.
| Requirement | Statistics at CCU |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects (usual combination) | Use of English, Mathematics and two of Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Biology or Agricultural Science |
| O’level (usual) | Five credits including English Language and Mathematics, plus three relevant subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Economics or Further Mathematics |
| Sittings | No more than two (2022/2023 guidance) |
| Direct Entry | Not shown on the brochure copy; CCU has not published DE rules |
| CCU-specific remark | None seen |
Mathematics is the one subject no Statistics programme in Nigeria does without, in the UTME or in the O’level. If you are choosing your other two UTME subjects now, Physics and Economics are safe picks that also keep Mathematics, Computer Science and Economics open as alternatives.
How CCU screens Statistics applicants
CCU has not published its 2026/2027 screening details in any source I could reach. The Myschool reprint of the 2026/2027 advert (18 May 2026) invites applications for its undergraduate programmes, but the visible part gives no dates, no fee and no word on whether there is a written test. So the table below separates what was published for an earlier session from what is unknown for the current one.
| Detail | What is known | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Application route | Online at portal.ccu.edu.ng (invoice, payment, form, print) | Described for 2022/2023 by SchoolNGR; portal still live |
| Application fee | ₦2,000 | Reported for 2022/2023 (SchoolNGR) and 2026/2027 (abstechconnect blog); unofficial |
| Choice of institution | CCU as first choice; change of institution if not | 2022/2023 guidance |
| O’level sittings | No more than two sittings | 2022/2023 guidance |
| Written Post-UTME test | Not stated for 2026/2027 | Unknown |
| Screening dates | Not published | Unknown |
| Aggregate formula | Not published | Unknown |
Many private universities in Nigeria admit on UTME score plus O’level, sometimes with a short interview, rather than a scored Post-UTME. I can’t confirm which method CCU used in 2026, so be ready for either: keep your UTME result slip, O’level certificates or statements, birth certificate and local government identification in one folder.
Worked example for a Statistics candidate
With no published aggregate, the honest calculation is the distance between your UTME score, the 150 minimum and the safe target I suggest above, plus a check of your O’level against the course requirement.
Take Uchenna, who scored 172 in English, Mathematics, Physics and Economics, with A1 in Mathematics and credits in English, Physics, Economics and Chemistry from one sitting.
- Eligibility: 172 minus 150 = 22. He clears the minimum by 22 marks.
- Against my safe target: 180 minus 172 = 8 below. His A1 in Mathematics makes up for much of that in a course like Statistics.
- O’level check: English and Mathematics plus three science or social science credits. That fits the usual requirement.
- Advice: confirm the UTME line on e-Facility, apply on the portal and accept promptly.
Ngozi scored 190 but has a C6 in Mathematics. She meets the minimum, but with a weak Mathematics grade I would advise her to consider re-sitting Mathematics before a numbers-heavy degree.
Some websites print a 50:50 aggregate formula for CCU. The university has not published one, so treat any such calculation as a guess.
How to apply for Statistics at CCU, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME correctly: choose the course named Statistics under Coal City University and write English and Mathematics plus the two other subjects JAMB lists for Statistics.
- Put CCU on your form: make Coal City University your first choice. If you chose another school, do a JAMB change of institution at a CBT centre or JAMB office.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: at a JAMB-accredited CBT centre as soon as your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out. CCU cannot offer you admission on CAPS without it.
- Apply on the CCU portal: go to portal.ccu.edu.ng, choose the option for degree programmes, generate an invoice and pay the application fee. A 2026 blog put the fee at ₦2,000, the same figure reported for 2022/2023, but CCU’s own notice for 2026/2027 was not available to me, so go by the amount on your invoice.
- Submit and print: enter your JAMB registration number, complete the form, submit it and print the application form. Keep a printed copy of your UTME result too.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Accept the offer from CCU and print your JAMB admission letter. JAMB allows four weeks to accept or reject an offer.
- Pay acceptance and clear: CCU’s acceptance and tuition fees were not published in any source I could open. Get the figures from the portal or the admissions office before you pay anything.
Warning
Every genuine CCU admission shows on JAMB CAPS, and JAMB says any admission made outside CAPS is illegal. Do not pay anyone who promises a place in exchange for money. Pay only against an invoice generated on the CCU portal.
JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities, a month after the 31 October 2026 date for public universities (News Agency of Nigeria, 11 May 2026). If you sat the 2026 UTME and chose CCU, keep checking CAPS. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains what each status means.
Studying Statistics at Coal City University
B.Sc. Statistics is listed with Mathematics, Computer Science and five other degrees in CCU’s Faculty of Natural & Applied Sciences. CCU has not published a course outline, so the list below describes a typical Nigerian B.Sc. Statistics.
What you study
- 100 level: calculus, algebra, introductory statistics and probability, computing, plus general studies.
- 200 and 300 levels: probability distributions, statistical inference, regression, sampling, design of experiments, demography, time series and statistical computing.
- Industrial training: a SIWES placement, often in a bank, statistics office or research firm.
- 400 level: multivariate analysis, econometrics or biostatistics options and a project.
Accreditation
The NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 list (September 2026) has no Statistics row under CCU. The Sciences rows are Biochemistry, Computer Science and Microbiology, and Mathematics is missing too. With no published result, ask CCU in writing when Statistics started and when its first NUC visit is due.
Careers
Statistics graduates work as data analysts, actuarial and insurance analysts, survey and market researchers, statisticians in government agencies, and analysts in banks and telecoms companies. Strong programming skills (R, Python or SQL) make a big difference to job prospects.

Mistakes that cost Statistics applicants a CCU place
- No Mathematics in the UTME: no Statistics programme accepts that.
- Assuming the subject line without checking: the brochure text was blank, so confirm on e-Facility.
- O’level not on CAPS: CCU cannot offer admission without it.
- Registering Mathematics or Education and Mathematics by mistake: choose “Statistics” under CCU.
- Paying acceptance before checking the programme: ask about NUC status first.
- Missing the four-week CAPS window.
If you are planning for next year, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts.
CCU Statistics cut-off mark: frequently asked questions
Is 150 enough for Statistics in Coal City University? Yes. CCU has not set a Statistics cut-off above JAMB’s 150, so 150 makes you eligible if your O’level includes English and Mathematics.
What JAMB subjects do I need for Statistics at CCU? English and Mathematics are certain. The usual pattern adds two of Physics, Chemistry, Economics or Biology, but JAMB’s brochure text was blank when checked, so confirm on your e-Facility profile.
Is Statistics the same course as Mathematics at CCU? No. They are separate courses on CCU’s JAMB list with separate degrees, so register the one you want.
Is Statistics at Coal City University accredited? Not yet on record. The NUC’s 1990 to 2025 results list has no Statistics row under CCU, so ask CCU in writing before paying acceptance.
