The FUAHSE Biochemistry cut off mark is 150 in the UTME. On its official 2026/2027 UTME admission cut-off list, the Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Enugu (FUAHSE) placed Biochemistry at 150, level with JAMB’s 2026 minimum for universities and in the same band as Human Anatomy, Physiology and Microbiology.
2027/2028 update: FUAHSE cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Biochemistry is one of FUAHSE’s original courses: it was on the list of 16 programmes NUC approved in December 2024. What 150 means in practice is less simple, because FUAHSE has not published the scores it actually admitted, and many applicants who miss its 230 to 260 courses end up competing for Biochemistry. I also could not confirm how the course appears on JAMB’s list of FUAHSE courses, so check the JAMB note below before you register. This guide covers the figures, a safe target, subjects, screening, CAPS steps and the degree itself.
Where FUAHSE Biochemistry stands right now
| Check | What I found | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| FUAHSE’s own 2026/2027 cut-off list | Listed at 150 | Admission into the course runs through the e-portal and JAMB |
| NUC approval | On FUAHSE’s list of the first 16 NUC-approved programmes (December 2024) | Approved to run; accreditation comes later |
| JAMB brochure entry for Biochemistry | Exists, with dozens of school remarks; no FUAHSE remark | JAMB’s general rules apply to you |
| JAMB’s list of FUAHSE courses | Not confirmed (the page would not load for me) | Make sure Biochemistry shows under FUAHSE when you register |
| Licensing council | None specific to biochemists | Your degree and NUC status carry the weight |
If Biochemistry does not show under FUAHSE when you register, pick it at a university where JAMB clearly lists it. Within Enugu State, our guides cover UNN Biochemistry, ESUT Applied Biochemistry and SUMAS Biochemistry. Inside FUAHSE, Microbiology uses the same UTME subjects and the same 150 cut-off.
FUAHSE Biochemistry cut off mark and history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | Biochemistry admission cut-off (course figure) | Official FUAHSE e-portal |
| 2026/2027 | 150 | Minimum UTME score to fill the screening form | Myschool report of the 2026/2027 exercise, 4 June 2026 |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | Minimum UTME score to apply; no per-course figure found | Studentship reprint of FUAHSE’s notice, 18 July 2025 |
| 2026 (all universities) | 150 | JAMB national minimum for universities | News Agency of Nigeria, 11 May 2026 |
FUAHSE’s Biochemistry figure has never moved off 150. The 2025/2026 notice gave one general minimum for all 16 courses; the 2026/2027 page split courses into seven bands and left Biochemistry in the lowest. For 2027/2028 I expect 150 again unless FUAHSE raises the whole Basic Medical Sciences band.
All FUAHSE cut-off marks for 2026/2027
| 2026/2027 cut-off | FUAHSE courses (names as on the e-portal) |
|---|---|
| 260 | Nursing Science |
| 240 | Radiography |
| 230 | Medical Laboratory Science, Physiotherapy |
| 200 | Public Health, Dental Technology, Dental Therapy, Prosthetics and Orthotics, Software Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Electrical and Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Social Work, Biotechnology, Alternative and Complementary Medicine |
| 180 | Health Care Management, Occupational Therapy, Parasitology and Entomology, Water Hygiene and Sanitation |
| 170 | Speech Therapy, Community Health, Health Information |
| 150 | Human Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology |
For comparison, ESUT put Biochemistry at 180 in its 2026/2027 advert and UNN asked for 160 to screen, while SUMAS used a general 150. FUAHSE’s 150 ties with SUMAS as the lowest published entry point for Biochemistry at a public university in Enugu State this session. That makes it attractive, and it is also why I would not treat 150 as a safe score.
Safe target score for Biochemistry at FUAHSE (my advice)
FUAHSE has not released a merit list with scores. These bands are my judgement, based on how the lowest-band science courses at federal universities fill when the clinical courses above them are oversubscribed.
| Your UTME score | My read for FUAHSE Biochemistry |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible for any FUAHSE degree course |
| 150 to 169 | Eligible, but you depend on how many higher scorers fall back to Biochemistry |
| 170 to 189 | Reasonable, with credits in Chemistry and Biology that are better than C6 |
| 190 and above | Strong |
I would aim for at least 180. Biochemistry is a common second choice for candidates who wanted Medical Laboratory Science (230) or Nursing (260), and FUAHSE can offer them Biochemistry through CAPS. A 205 that missed MLS will usually beat a 165 that chose Biochemistry first.
Catchment and quota
FUAHSE has not published a catchment list or state quota for any course. Plan on merit and treat 150 as the floor, not the target.
Biochemistry subject combination and O’level for FUAHSE
| Requirement | Biochemistry (JAMB general entry) |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Mathematics |
| UTME subjects I recommend | Use of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics |
| O’level | Five credits: English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology |
| Direct Entry (JAMB) | Two A’level passes chosen from Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology; NCE, ND or HND in a related field is also listed |
| Direct Entry (FUAHSE 2026/2027 notice) | ND, HND or a first degree, plus relevant O’level credits |
These come from JAMB’s brochure entry for Biochemistry under Sciences (Myschool reprint, checked 30 October 2026). The entry carries remarks for a long list of universities. In Enugu’s neighbourhood, for instance, GOUNI lets another science replace Physics at O’level and IMSU and COOU accept a pass in English. None of those remarks names FUAHSE, so follow the general rule and get a credit in all five O’level subjects.
Why I suggest Physics over Mathematics in the UTME: JAMB allows either, but Physics is also on the O’level list, and many universities that name a single option on this entry ask for Physics. Choose Mathematics only if you are clearly stronger in it. JAMB also has a separate entry, Medical Biochemistry, which is a different course; FUAHSE’s cut-off page and approval list both say plain “Biochemistry”.
Course name to pick on JAMB: JAMB’s brochure lists this course as Biochemistry, and FUAHSE’s cut-off page calls it Biochemistry. I could not open JAMB’s own list of FUAHSE courses (the Myschool reprint would not load for me), so I can’t confirm exactly how the course appears under FUAHSE. FUAHSE’s 2026/2027 Post-UTME form took JAMB registration numbers and the course is on its official cut-off list, which tells you admission runs through JAMB. At registration, ask the centre to show FUAHSE’s course options on screen and pick the matching one. Don’t settle for a similar-looking course at another school.
How FUAHSE screening works for Biochemistry
| Detail | FUAHSE 2026/2027 position | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum UTME score to apply | 150 (the JAMB national minimum for universities) | Myschool, 4 June 2026 |
| Course cut-off | Set per course on the e-portal (see the table above) | FUAHSE e-portal |
| Application window | 8 June to 19 August 2026 (closed) | Myschool, 4 June 2026; AbsTechConnect blog |
| Fee | ₦2,000 reported | AbsTechConnect blog (June 2026); not on an official page I reached |
| How to apply | Online at eportal.fuahse.edu.ng; UTME by JAMB number, Direct Entry by phone number | FUAHSE e-portal |
| Direct Entry | ND, HND or a first degree, plus O’level credits in relevant subjects | Myschool, 4 June 2026 |
| Test or interview | Not published | No official notice found |
| Aggregate formula | Not published | No official notice found |
| O’level on CAPS | Required | Blog reprints; standard JAMB rule |
| Admission status | FUAHSE status page and JAMB CAPS | FUAHSE admissions page |
Since the minimum to apply and the Biochemistry cut-off are both 150, the form itself does not sort Biochemistry applicants. Your score above 150 and your O’level results decide where you stand.
Worked example
FUAHSE has not published an aggregate formula, so read this as an illustration of how I would judge two candidates, not FUAHSE’s method.
Obinna scored 193 in English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. His NECO has B2 in English, B3 in Mathematics, B3 in Biology, A1 in Chemistry and C6 in Physics, in one sitting.
- Eligibility: 193 minus 150 = 43 marks above the Biochemistry cut-off.
- Against my target: 193 is in the strong band.
- O’level check: credits in all five subjects JAMB lists, with an A1 in the subject that matters most for Biochemistry.
- My advice: keep Biochemistry. If he had wanted MLS, 193 would still be 37 short of 230, so Biochemistry is the realistic choice at FUAHSE.
Amarachi scored 158 in English, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. She is eligible, but only by eight marks. I would tell her to accept any FUAHSE offer that appears on CAPS quickly, and to register for the 2027 UTME as a backup if no offer comes.
How to apply for Biochemistry at FUAHSE, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register for the UTME: choose FUAHSE and Biochemistry, with Use of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics (or Mathematics). If FUAHSE was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution before its screening form opens.
- Upload your O’level on CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre, early. Universities read your grades from CAPS.
- Fill the FUAHSE screening form: go to eportal.fuahse.edu.ng and open the Post-UTME application form for the session. UTME candidates enter their JAMB registration number; Direct Entry candidates start with a phone number. Blogs reported a fee of ₦2,000 for 2026/2027; the portal invoice is what counts.
- Print your slip and watch for updates: FUAHSE has not published whether it holds a test, so keep checking the portal and the official admissions page after you submit.
- Check your status: use FUAHSE’s admission status page and JAMB CAPS. An offer is only real once it appears on CAPS.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. JAMB gives candidates four weeks to accept or reject an offer.
- Pay acceptance and clear: FUAHSE has not published its acceptance fee in any source I reached. Pay only through an invoice generated on the FUAHSE e-portal, and keep every receipt for clearance.
Warning
FUAHSE’s admissions page warns that fake admission information about the university is circulating on Facebook. Its official channels are fuahse.edu.ng/admissions and the e-portal at eportal.fuahse.edu.ng, and every genuine offer also shows on JAMB CAPS. Nobody can sell you a place, so don’t pay anyone who promises one.
FUAHSE is a federal university, and JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for public universities (News Agency of Nigeria, 11 May 2026). I found no report of when FUAHSE uploaded its 2026/2027 list. JAMB announces a fresh deadline for each session, so watch for the 2027/2028 date after the 2027 policy meeting. To read your own position, check CAPS and FUAHSE’s status page, and use our JAMB CAPS guide to understand each status.
Studying Biochemistry at FUAHSE
Biochemistry sits in FUAHSE’s Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, beside Human Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Biotechnology and Parasitology and Entomology. FUAHSE’s 2025/2026 notice, as reprinted by Studentship, named the award as a B.Sc. FUAHSE has not published the duration; a B.Sc. in Biochemistry usually takes four years in Nigeria. The university’s about page says graduates leave with a bachelor’s degree and a professional diploma in an entrepreneurial venture they choose.
Is FUAHSE Biochemistry approved?
- March 2024: the Federal Government approved the upgrade of the Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy, Trans-Ekulu, into FUAHSE.
- October 2024: an NUC team began checking 18 of the 22 programmes FUAHSE’s Senate had approved for take-off in 2024/2025, using NUC’s Core Curriculum Minimum Academic Standards as the yardstick (The Sun, 31 October 2024).
- December 2024: FUAHSE announced NUC approval for its first 16 degree programmes, and Biochemistry was on that list. The list is on FUAHSE’s own website and was reported by Journalist101 and Vanguard on 19 December 2024.
- May 2026: the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Emaimo, said NUC approval now covered 27 programmes: the original 16 plus 11 newer ones, naming Biotechnology, Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering among them. He spoke ahead of the university’s second matriculation (The Sun, 9 May 2026).
Approval is what allows FUAHSE to admit Biochemistry students. NUC accreditation is a separate visit that comes once students reach the later levels, and I found no accreditation result for any FUAHSE programme yet. There is no council that licenses biochemists the way MLSCN licenses medical laboratory scientists. The Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON) regulates the practice of chemistry, but its membership page does not say which degrees qualify, so ask ICCON directly if you plan to work as a chemist.
What you study
FUAHSE has not put its Biochemistry curriculum online. Biochemistry degrees in Nigeria generally cover the following, and a health sciences university is likely to lean towards the medical side:
- Year one: general chemistry, biology, physics and mathematics, plus general studies.
- Chemistry base: organic and physical chemistry, which most students find the hardest part of the early years.
- Core biochemistry: proteins and enzymes, then the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, amino acids and nucleic acids.
- Molecular biology: DNA, gene expression and the laboratory methods used to study them.
- Applied areas: clinical and nutritional biochemistry, toxicology and the biochemistry of drugs.
- Laboratory work: spectrophotometry, chromatography and electrophoresis, industrial training, and a final-year research project.
Careers
Biochemistry graduates work in quality control for pharmaceutical, food and drink companies, in research institutes and university laboratories, in regulatory agencies and in teaching. Many take a master’s degree to move into research or lecturing. Hospital laboratory work is the exception: that job needs an MLSCN licence, which comes through the Medical Laboratory Science degree. Medicine and Surgery is not on FUAHSE’s 2026/2027 list of 28 courses, so the usual plan of entering a basic medical science course and hoping to change to Medicine after 100 level has no route inside this university.
Related FUAHSE courses and nearby options
- Microbiology at FUAHSE: 150, with the same UTME subject choice as Biochemistry.
- Physiology and Human Anatomy at FUAHSE: both 150, but they fix Physics in the UTME.
- Biotechnology at FUAHSE: 200 on the 2026/2027 list, for candidates with higher scores.
- UNN Biochemistry and SUMAS Biochemistry: the other Biochemistry options in Enugu State.
- ESUT Applied Biochemistry: ESUT’s version of the course, at 180 for 2026/2027.
For UTME revision, start with our JAMB Biology syllabus and JAMB Chemistry syllabus, then read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and what to do with your JAMB score if you are planning a fresh attempt in 2027.
Mistakes that cost Biochemistry applicants a FUAHSE place
- Missing Physics at O’level: the UTME lets you write Mathematics, but JAMB’s O’level list still includes Physics.
- Treating 150 as safe: it is the floor, and candidates who missed the 230 to 260 courses can be offered Biochemistry.
- Picking Medical Biochemistry: it is a different JAMB entry; register the course listed under FUAHSE.
- Uploading O’level late: CAPS cannot recommend you without your results.
- Paying agents: FUAHSE has warned about fake admission information on Facebook and banned money-for-admission deals.
If FUAHSE wasn’t your first choice, read how to change institution on JAMB before the screening form opens.
FUAHSE Biochemistry cut off mark: frequently asked questions
Is 150 enough for Biochemistry at FUAHSE? It makes you eligible, because 150 is the 2026/2027 cut-off. It is rarely enough on its own, so I suggest aiming for 180 or more.
Can I use Mathematics instead of Physics for FUAHSE Biochemistry? Yes in the UTME, because JAMB’s general entry accepts Physics or Mathematics. You still need a Physics credit at O’level.
Is FUAHSE Biochemistry accredited by NUC? It is NUC-approved: it was one of FUAHSE’s first 16 approved programmes in December 2024. No accreditation result has been published yet.
Can a Biochemistry graduate work in a hospital laboratory? Not as a licensed medical laboratory scientist. That role needs an MLSCN licence, which comes through the Medical Laboratory Science degree.
Sources and updates
The 2026/2027 course cut-offs come from FUAHSE’s e-portal page 2026-2027 UTME Admission Cutoff Mark, read on 30 October 2026. The 150 minimum, the 8 June to 19 August 2026 window and the Direct Entry entry routes come from Myschool (4 June 2026); the ₦2,000 fee is from AbsTechConnect (June 2026) and is unofficial. FUAHSE’s official channels and the Facebook warning are on its admissions page; its July 2025 warning against admission racketeering was reported by Myschool. The national minimum of 150, the 31 October 2026 deadline for public universities and the four-week CAPS acceptance window come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). The programme approval history comes from The Sun (31 October 2024), Journalist101 (19 December 2024) and The Sun (9 May 2026). FUAHSE’s own list of its first 16 approved programmes is on its website, and its about page gives the founding date and the entrepreneurial diploma. UTME, O’level and Direct Entry rules are from JAMB’s brochure entry for Biochemistry as reprinted by Myschool, with remarks for many universities but none for FUAHSE. ESUT’s and UNN’s figures are from our own guides to those schools. The ICCON note is from ICCON’s membership page. The 2025/2026 course list and B.Sc. award are from a Studentship reprint of FUAHSE’s notice (18 July 2025). Course content and careers describe Nigerian Biochemistry degrees in general, and the target scores are my advice. FUAHSE has not published the curriculum, the duration, a test, an aggregate formula, a quota or an acceptance fee in any source I reached. Checked on 30 October 2026; this page will be updated when FUAHSE publishes its 2027/2028 figures.
