Rhema University Cut-Off Mark for Nursing Science 2027/2028: Requirements, Subject Combination and Screening

Rhema University, Aba has not published a Nursing cut-off, so JAMB’s 150 is the official minimum. See the safe target score, two-sitting O’level rule, screening details and Rhema’s full NUC and NMCN accreditation.

The Rhema University cut-off mark for Nursing Science is 150 in the UTME, JAMB’s national minimum for universities for 2026/2027. Rhema University, Aba has not published its own minimum or departmental cut-off for Nursing, and it is not on the list of institution-declared cut-offs from JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting. Nursing candidates also sit a separate screening, so your result there matters as much as your JAMB score.

2027/2028 update: Rhema cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

The good news for Rhema Nursing is accreditation. The programme has full accreditation from both the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). This page covers the official figures, a safe target score (my advice), the O’level and UTME subjects, the screening, a worked example, the CAPS steps and what studying Nursing at Rhema involves.

Rhema University is in Aba, Abia State, on Aba-Owerri Road. Some blogs place a “Rhema University” in Obeama-Asa, Rivers State; that is a mix-up, and the figures here are for the Aba university.

You may see older “Rhema cut-off for all courses” lists from 2018/2019 on blogs. None of them points to an official Rhema document, so I would not plan with them.

Safe target score for Nursing at Rhema (my advice)

Nursing is one of the most requested courses in Nigeria, and a fully accredited programme draws applicants even at a private university. Rhema groups Nursing with MBBS for a separate screening, which tells you it is choosing among candidates rather than admitting everyone above 150. This is my judgement as an admissions adviser, not a Rhema rule.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Rhema Nursing
Below 150Not eligible for any Rhema degree course
150 to 169Eligible, but you will need an excellent screening result
170 to 189Possible with strong O’level grades
190 to 214Competitive
215 and aboveStrong

For the 2027 UTME, I would aim for 200 or more, with credits (ideally B3 or better) in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. At 200 you also stay in range for Nursing at several state universities if you change your plans.

UTME subject combination and O’level for Rhema Nursing Science

RequirementNursing Science at Rhema
UTME subjectsUse of English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology (JAMB’s usual combination; confirm on the JAMB e-brochure)
O’level subjectsEnglish Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology
SittingsNot more than two
Exams acceptedWASSCE or NECO SSCE (named on Rhema’s page)
Entry modesUTME into 100 level; Direct Entry into 200 level
Extra stepSeparate Nursing and MBBS screening

The JAMB brochure, as reprinted by Myschool, gives Chemistry, Biology and Physics for Nursing Science, plus the compulsory Use of English. Rhema is not named among the schools with special remarks, so the general rule applies. The two-sitting allowance on Rhema’s page helps if you have, say, a Physics credit from NECO and the rest from WAEC. Keep the names on both results identical to your JAMB registration.

Direct Entry into Nursing at Rhema

Rhema’s admissions page lets Direct Entry candidates into 200 level with the five O’level credits plus one of these:

  • A-level GCE passes in at least two relevant subjects
  • IJMB
  • NCE in relevant subjects
  • ND with upper credit in relevant subjects
  • HND with lower credit in relevant subjects
  • A first degree in a related field

Rhema’s page does not mention the Registered Nurse (RN) certificate as a Direct Entry route, although many Nigerian universities accept it for B.N.Sc. If you are a registered nurse hoping to top up to a degree at Rhema, ask the admissions office whether it takes RN holders and at what level.

Rhema Nursing screening: what to expect

I could not find a 2026/2027 screening notice for Nursing on Rhema’s site. The most recent one I confirmed is the 2025/2026 notice for MBBS and Nursing candidates, which Myschool reprinted on 10 September 2025.

Detail2025/2026 Nursing and MBBS screening
Date and timeTuesday 16 September 2025, 10am prompt
Main venueRhema University Academic Block, 5th floor
Abuja centreLiving Word Ministries, Love Aglow Church, Living Word Street, First Avenue, Gwarimpa Estate
Lagos centreOladipupo Odunole Street, Ojodu Berger
What to bringOne passport photograph, pen, pencil and eraser
Admissions office08107159322
Fee, pass mark, subjects testedNot stated

Pens, pencils and an eraser suggest a written paper, probably with shaded answer sheets. The notice does not list subjects. I would revise English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at UTME level, and spend extra time on Biology, since human biology overlaps most with the first years of Nursing.

Worked example (illustrative only)

Rhema has not published an aggregate formula. To show how the screening can change your position, I am using the 50:50 method many Nigerian universities use: UTME score divided by 8 (out of 50) plus the screening percentage halved (out of 50). This is my illustration, not Rhema’s formula.

  1. Ngozi: UTME 184, so 184 ÷ 8 = 23. Screening 70%, worth 35. Illustrative aggregate: 58.
  2. Tobenna: UTME 216, so 216 ÷ 8 = 27. Screening 46%, worth 23. Illustrative aggregate: 50.
  3. Reading it: Tobenna’s UTME was 32 marks higher, but Ngozi ends 8 points ahead because she prepared for the screening paper.
  4. The O’level check still applies: both need five credits, including Physics, in no more than two sittings, uploaded to JAMB CAPS.

Your admission odds for Nursing at Rhema

Neither Rhema nor the NMCN has published Rhema’s Nursing intake, so I can’t give you a ratio of applicants to places. What I can say from how the process works:

  • The NMCN limits intake: approved nursing programmes admit to a council-approved number, so the class cannot simply grow to fit demand.
  • The screening sorts the pool: everyone who sits it has at least 150, so your score on the day is what moves you up.
  • Two sittings widen your options: a candidate who missed one science credit in WAEC can still qualify with a NECO result.
  • Fees are part of the decision: Rhema’s fee schedule was not readable in any source I reached. Get the official tuition figure before you accept.

How to apply for Nursing Science at Rhema, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line registered with your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME correctly: choose Nursing Science with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and pick Rhema University. If you chose another school, use a JAMB change of institution before the screening.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB office or accredited CBT centre. If you are using two sittings, upload both results.
  4. Apply on Rhema’s portal: on rhemauniversity.edu.ng, go to Admissions and click “Apply Now” to reach the admission sign-in page. Complete the form and print your slip.
  5. Sit the Nursing screening: check the website and call the admissions office for the date and your nearest centre (Aba, Abuja or Lagos in 2025).
  6. Accept on CAPS: at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. JAMB gave four weeks to accept in 2026. See our JAMB CAPS guide for what each status means.
  7. Pay acceptance and do clearance: Rhema has not published the acceptance fee in any source I reached. Confirm the amount and payment channel with the university, then bring your original documents for clearance.

Warning

Blog posts quote different prices for the Rhema screening form, sometimes two prices on one page. Pay only the amount Rhema’s portal or admissions office gives you. Nobody can sell you a Nursing “slot”; a genuine offer always shows on your JAMB CAPS.

Studying Nursing Science at Rhema University

Rhema University is a private Christian university in Aba, established in 2010 according to its own news page. The Department of Nursing Science awards the Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.N.Sc.). Rhema’s admissions page does not state the duration; the B.N.Sc. in Nigeria normally takes five years, including clinical postings. The admissions page does not say which college the department belongs to.

Accreditation

  • NUC: an accreditation team visited in November/December 2022. Nursing scored 75.5% and received full accreditation, confirmed in an NUC letter dated 9 March 2023. Full accreditation lasts five years, so the next visit is due in 2027.
  • NMCN: the council’s updated list of approved colleges and departments of nursing (December 2025) shows the Department of Nursing Science, Rhema University, Aba with full approval from June 2023.

NMCN approval is what lets graduates sit the council’s licensing examinations and practise. Because the NUC visit falls due in 2027, keep an eye on Rhema’s news page for the result.

What you study

  • First year: biology, chemistry, physics and general studies.
  • Middle years: anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology and the foundations of nursing practice.
  • Clinical years: medical-surgical nursing, maternal and child health, community health nursing and mental health nursing, with supervised ward postings.
  • After graduation: NMCN licensing examinations and induction, internship, then NYSC.
  • Careers: hospital and clinic nursing, public health, school and occupational health, nursing education, and further training in midwifery or specialist areas.

For UTME preparation, use our JAMB Biology syllabus and JAMB Chemistry syllabus.

Mistakes Nursing applicants make with Rhema

  • Treating 150 as the admission score: it is the floor for applying.
  • Using three sittings: Rhema allows two at most for Nursing.
  • Leaving out Physics: it is on both the O’level list and JAMB’s usual UTME combination.
  • Missing the screening: Myschool carried the 2025 notice on 10 September for a 16 September exercise, so check from August.
  • Stopping after CAPS acceptance: you still have to pay the acceptance fee and clear at Rhema.

The O’level subjects, the two-sitting rule, the Direct Entry qualifications, 200-level entry and the “Apply Now” route are from Rhema University’s admissions page (undated, checked 29 October 2026). The NUC visit, the 75.5% score, the 9 March 2023 letter and the five-year term are from Rhema’s Nursing and Computer Science accreditation notice. The NMCN status is from the NMCN Updated List of Approved Colleges/Departments of Nursing (December 2025). The 2025/2026 screening details come from Myschool’s reprint of Rhema’s notice (10 September 2025). The national minimum of 150 and the four-week CAPS window come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026); News Central’s full list of declared cut-offs from that meeting does not include Rhema.
