The FUAHSE Complementary and Alternative Medicine cut off mark is 200 in the UTME. The Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Enugu (FUAHSE) listed the course, which its cut-off page calls “Alternative and Complementary Medicine”, at 200 on its official 2026/2027 UTME admission cut-off list.
2027/2028 update: FUAHSE cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Before you put this course on your JAMB form, you should know three things that are still unclear. FUAHSE has not named the degree, the Vice-Chancellor’s May 2026 statement on newly approved programmes did not mention it by name, and Nigeria has no council in force that licenses complementary and alternative medicine graduates, as far as I could find. None of that stops you applying, but it changes how you should plan. The details, the cut-off, subjects and screening steps follow.
Where FUAHSE Complementary and Alternative Medicine stands right now
| Check | What I found | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| FUAHSE’s own 2026/2027 list | Listed at 200 as “Alternative and Complementary Medicine” | Admission is open through the e-portal |
| Faculty | Faculty of Healthcare Services (FUAHSE website menu) | Same faculty as Nursing, Radiography and Public Health |
| NUC approval | Not named in any statement I found | Ask FUAHSE in writing before you pay acceptance |
| JAMB course list for FUAHSE | Not confirmed | Make sure the course shows under FUAHSE when you register |
| Licensing council | None in force that I could confirm; a council bill has been in the works since 2020 | No practising licence route yet; see below |
| Degree name and length | Not published | Ask the department |
If any of these worries you, two options are cleaner. Inside FUAHSE, Public Health (200) and Community Health (170) lead to recognised public health work. Outside Enugu, the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo has a Department of Complementary and Alternative Medicine in its Faculty of Allied Health Sciences. If you want hands-on rehabilitation, look at FUAHSE’s Physiotherapy (230) or Occupational Therapy (180), both regulated by the Medical Rehabilitation Therapists Board.
FUAHSE Complementary and Alternative Medicine cut off mark and history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 200 | Complementary and Alternative Medicine admission cut-off | Official FUAHSE e-portal |
| 2026/2027 | 150 | Minimum UTME score to fill the screening form | Myschool report of the 2026/2027 exercise |
| 2025/2026 | None | Complementary and Alternative Medicine was not among the 16 courses FUAHSE advertised | Studentship reprint, 18 July 2025 |
This is a first-year course, so there is no trend to read. I expect 200 to hold for 2027/2028. Interest in a new and unusual course is hard to predict; it may stay at 200 even if demand is light, because FUAHSE put it in the same band as its engineering and Public Health courses.
All FUAHSE cut-off marks for 2026/2027
| 2026/2027 cut-off | FUAHSE courses (names as on the e-portal) |
|---|---|
| 260 | Nursing Science |
| 240 | Radiography |
| 230 | Medical Laboratory Science, Physiotherapy |
| 200 | Public Health, Dental Technology, Dental Therapy, Prosthetics and Orthotics, Software Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Electrical and Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Social Work, Biotechnology, Alternative and Complementary Medicine |
| 180 | Health Care Management, Occupational Therapy, Parasitology and Entomology, Water Hygiene and Sanitation |
| 170 | Speech Therapy, Community Health, Health Information |
| 150 | Human Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology |
Safe target score for Complementary and Alternative Medicine at FUAHSE (my advice)
FUAHSE has not published admitted scores. These bands are my reading for a new, niche course at 200.
| Your UTME score | My read for FUAHSE Complementary and Alternative Medicine |
|---|---|
| Below 200 | Not eligible; Community Health (170) or Occupational Therapy (180) are nearby options |
| 200 to 209 | Eligible; a fair chance if your O’level is clean |
| 210 and above | Comfortable |
I would aim for 210. Niche courses rarely fill with first-choice candidates, so the competition may be lighter than for Public Health on the same mark. The risk is the reverse: a candidate who wanted Nursing or Physiotherapy may be offered this course on CAPS. If that happens to you, read the status table above before you accept.
Complementary and Alternative Medicine subject combination and O’level
| Requirement | What JAMB’s brochure shows |
|---|---|
| Entry “Complementary and Alternative Medicine” (Faculty of Sciences) | Exists, but the subject, O’level and Direct Entry fields are empty on the Myschool reprint |
| Entry “Alternative Medicine” (Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences): UTME | Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology |
| Same entry: O’level | Five credits: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology |
| Same entry: Direct Entry | A’level passes in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Zoology, or a relevant first degree |
| Direct Entry (FUAHSE 2026/2027 notice) | ND, HND or first degree plus relevant O’level credits |
| UTME subjects I recommend | Use of English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics |
Neither the Complementary and Alternative Medicine entry nor the Alternative Medicine entry carries a FUAHSE remark (Myschool reprints, checked 30 October 2026). Because the only filled-in entry asks for Physics, Chemistry and Biology, that is the combination I would register. It also keeps you eligible for every other FUAHSE health course if you are offered a change on CAPS.
Course name to pick on JAMB: JAMB’s brochure lists this course as Complementary and Alternative Medicine (or Alternative Medicine), and FUAHSE’s cut-off page calls it Alternative and Complementary Medicine. I could not open JAMB’s own list of FUAHSE courses (the Myschool reprint would not load for me), so I can’t confirm exactly how the course appears under FUAHSE. FUAHSE’s 2026/2027 Post-UTME form took JAMB registration numbers and the course is on its official cut-off list, which tells you admission runs through JAMB. At registration, ask the centre to show FUAHSE’s course options on screen and pick the matching one. Don’t settle for a similar-looking course at another school.

Worked example
Without a published aggregate formula, check your margin over 200, your O’level and the open questions.
Ifeoma scored 206 with English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and has credits in all five O’level subjects from one NECO sitting.
- Eligibility: 206 minus 200 = 6 marks above the cut-off.
- Against my target: a little below 210, but a fair chance for a niche course.
- Open questions: she should ask FUAHSE for the degree name, its NUC approval and the plan for professional registration.
- My advice: apply, but if CAPS later offers Public Health or Community Health, weigh that offer seriously.
How to apply at FUAHSE, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register for the UTME: choose FUAHSE and Complementary and Alternative Medicine, with Use of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. If FUAHSE was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution before its screening form opens.
- Upload your O’level on CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre, early. Universities read your grades from CAPS.
- Fill the FUAHSE screening form: go to eportal.fuahse.edu.ng and open the Post-UTME application form for the session. UTME candidates enter their JAMB registration number; Direct Entry candidates start with a phone number. Blogs reported a fee of ₦2,000 for 2026/2027; the portal invoice is what counts.
- Print your slip and watch for updates: FUAHSE has not published whether it holds a test, so keep checking the portal and the official admissions page after you submit.
- Check your status: use FUAHSE’s admission status page and JAMB CAPS. An offer is only real once it appears on CAPS.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. JAMB gives candidates four weeks to accept or reject an offer.
- Pay acceptance and clear: FUAHSE has not published its acceptance fee in any source I reached. Pay only through an invoice generated on the FUAHSE e-portal, and keep every receipt for clearance.
Warning
FUAHSE’s admissions page warns that fake admission information about the university is circulating on Facebook. Its official channels are fuahse.edu.ng/admissions and the e-portal at eportal.fuahse.edu.ng, and every genuine offer also shows on JAMB CAPS. Nobody can sell you a place, so don’t pay anyone who promises one.
FUAHSE is a federal university, so its 2026/2027 admissions fall under the window JAMB set for public universities, which ended on 31 October 2026 (News Agency of Nigeria, 11 May 2026). That date has now passed. I found no report of when FUAHSE uploaded its 2026/2027 list. If you applied this year, check CAPS and FUAHSE’s status page, and read our JAMB CAPS guide to understand each status.
Studying Complementary and Alternative Medicine at FUAHSE
FUAHSE lists the department in its Faculty of Healthcare Services but has published no curriculum, duration or degree name. Complementary and alternative medicine covers health practices used alongside or outside conventional medicine. At the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, the department says it teaches herbal medicine, nutrition, acupuncture, mind and body therapies and lifestyle interventions. FUAHSE may follow a similar line, but it has not said so.
Is FUAHSE Complementary and Alternative Medicine approved?
- March 2024: the Federal Government approved the upgrade of the Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy, Trans-Ekulu, into FUAHSE.
- October 2024: an NUC team began checking 18 of the 22 programmes FUAHSE’s Senate had approved for take-off in 2024/2025, using NUC’s Core Curriculum Minimum Academic Standards as the yardstick (The Sun, 31 October 2024).
- December 2024: FUAHSE announced NUC approval for its first 16 degree programmes (Journalist101 and Vanguard, 19 December 2024). Complementary and Alternative Medicine was not one of them, and it was not in the 2025/2026 intake either.
- May 2026: the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Emaimo, said NUC approval now covered 27 programmes: the original 16 plus 11 newer ones, naming Biotechnology, Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering among them. He spoke ahead of the university’s second matriculation (The Sun, 9 May 2026).
FUAHSE’s 2026/2027 cut-off page has 12 courses that were not in the 16 it advertised for 2025/2026, while the Vice-Chancellor spoke of 11 newly approved programmes. So at least one of the 12 new courses is not covered by that statement, and the university has not said which. Complementary and Alternative Medicine was not one of the three the Vice-Chancellor named, so I can’t confirm its approval. Write to the registry or ask at the department before you pay acceptance.
Who regulates complementary and alternative medicine in Nigeria?
Regulation is the least settled part of this course:
- No dedicated council in force: the Federal Executive Council approved a bill to set up a Council for Traditional, Alternative and Complementary Medicine Practice in October 2020 (BusinessDay). Later, the National Association of Nigerian Traditional Medicine Practitioners asked President Tinubu to sign a council bill that was still before the National Assembly (Voice of Nigeria). I found no report that it has become law.
- Doctors object to parts of it: in 2022 the Nigerian Medical Association asked lawmakers to review the bill, arguing that complementary and alternative medicine falls under the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (Gazette Nigeria).
- Two related practices already have a regulator: the Medical Rehabilitation Therapists Board lists Osteopathic Medicine and Chiropractic Medicine among the professions it controls (MRTB mandate page). That does not make a general CAM degree registrable with MRTB.
So a FUAHSE graduate in this course may not have a licensing body to register with when they finish, unless the law changes first. Ask FUAHSE which body it is working with and what graduates will be licensed to do.
Careers
Possible paths include research into herbal and natural products, wellness and nutrition services, product development and quality control for herbal medicine makers, and postgraduate study. Clinical practice is the uncertain part, because what a graduate may legally do depends on the regulation above.

Mistakes to avoid with this course
- Assuming it makes you a doctor: it does not lead to MDCN registration.
- Accepting without asking about approval: get the NUC position and the regulator plan in writing.
- Registering an arts or commercial combination: the only filled-in JAMB entry asks for Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- Paying anyone outside the e-portal: FUAHSE says fake admission information circulates on Facebook.
If you want to switch to a course with a clearer licence route, read how to do a JAMB change of course.
FUAHSE Complementary and Alternative Medicine cut off mark: frequently asked questions
Is Complementary and Alternative Medicine at FUAHSE accredited? I found no NUC statement naming it, and no licensing council for the field is in force. Ask FUAHSE in writing before you accept.
What JAMB subjects do I need for Alternative Medicine? JAMB’s Alternative Medicine entry asks for Physics, Chemistry and Biology with Use of English. The Complementary and Alternative Medicine entry is blank on the reprint, so register those three sciences.
Can I get admission into Alternative Medicine at FUAHSE with 195? No. The 2026/2027 cut-off is 200. With 195 you clear Occupational Therapy (180) and Community Health (170).
Will I be called a doctor after studying Complementary and Alternative Medicine? No. The course does not lead to registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, and FUAHSE has not published the degree title.
