The UNIUYO Advertising and Marketing Communication cut-off mark is 150 in the UTME, the same figure the University of Uyo set for every course in its official 2026/2027 Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening notice. Only candidates who chose UNIUYO as their first choice could apply. UNIUYO does not publish a separate cut-off for Advertising and Marketing Communication, and the score of the last person admitted is not released, so 150 gets you into screening and no further. My safe target score for Advertising and Marketing Communication at UNIUYO is 200.
2027/2028 update: UNIUYO cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Advertising and Marketing Communication is UNIUYO’s name for its advertising degree, one of seven programmes in the new Faculty of Communication and Media Studies. It should not be confused with the B.Sc. Marketing in the Faculty of Management Sciences, which is a business degree with a different JAMB subject rule. This guide gives the official figures, my safe target, a subject plan that fits the JAMB lines UNIUYO currently has, screening, a worked example and CAPS steps.
Check the course name on CAPS
Advertising and Marketing Communication is one of seven programmes in UNIUYO’s new Faculty of Communication and Media Studies. JAMB’s UNIUYO course list, as reprinted by Myschool, still shows only Mass Communication and Communication Arts. Before you register or pay for screening, confirm on the JAMB e-brochure or your CAPS course list that Advertising and Marketing Communication appears for UNIUYO under that name, and ask UNIUYO’s admissions office in writing if it does not.
UNIUYO Advertising and Marketing Communication cut-off mark at a glance
| Item | 2026/2027 position | Status |
|---|---|---|
| UNIUYO minimum UTME score (all courses) | 150, with UNIUYO as first choice | Official UNIUYO 2026/2027 notice |
| Published cut-off for Advertising and Marketing Communication | None | UNIUYO publishes no per-course figure |
| JAMB national minimum for universities | 150 | JAMB policy meeting, 11 May 2026 |
| Safe target score (my advice) | 200 | Consultant advice, not a UNIUYO rule |
| Name on JAMB’s UNIUYO list | Not listed under this name yet; JAMB shows Mass Communication and Communication Arts for UNIUYO | Myschool reprint of JAMB’s UNIUYO course list (3 Nov 2026) |
| UTME subjects | Literature in English plus two other Arts or Social Science subjects | My advice, built to satisfy both JAMB lines; confirm on the e-brochure |
| Faculty | Faculty of Communication and Media Studies (new) | UNIUYO 2026/2027 Basic Studies advert (May 2026) |
| Screening fee | ₦2,000 via Remita | Fee from Myschool reprint; Remita from official notice |
UNIUYO Advertising and Marketing Communication cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | Minimum UTME to apply for screening; UNIUYO first choice; same for all courses | Official UNIUYO notice |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | Minimum UTME to apply for screening, first choice | Reported by a blog reprint (15 August 2025); original not seen |
| 2023/2024 supplementary | 140 | Minimum to move into a course that still had places; Mass Communication was not on the list | Official UNIUYO supplementary notice (September 2023) |
UNIUYO’s screening minimum has been 150 for two sessions. Advertising and Marketing Communication itself has no history yet, because the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies is new and the programme first appears in UNIUYO’s May 2026 advert. The nearest record is for the course it grew out of: Mass Communication was not on UNIUYO’s 2023/2024 supplementary list, and neither was Communication Arts. Mass Communication filled in the main round, which fits what most Nigerian universities see for media courses.
Safe target score for Advertising and Marketing Communication at UNIUYO (my advice)
UNIUYO has not published a departmental figure for Advertising and Marketing Communication, so the bands below are my own judgement as an admissions adviser. They are not a UNIUYO rule, and you should treat them as planning numbers.
| Your UTME score | My read for UNIUYO Advertising and Marketing Communication |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible for UNIUYO screening |
| 150 to 179 | Eligible, but a place in Advertising and Marketing Communication is unlikely |
| 180 to 199 | Possible, though many applicants will be ahead of you |
| 200 to 219 | Competitive. This is the range I would aim for |
| 220 and above | Strong |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for 200 or more. Advertising was a popular stream within Mass Communication, and that course filled in UNIUYO’s main round in 2023/2024. The new degree is untested, so I am planning on the side of caution.
UTME subject combination and O’level for UNIUYO Advertising and Marketing Communication
| Requirement | Advertising and Marketing Communication at UNIUYO |
|---|---|
| JAMB entry for Advertising and Marketing Communication at UNIUYO | Not on JAMB’s UNIUYO list as reprinted by Myschool (3 November 2026) |
| Mass Communication (on UNIUYO’s list) | UTME: any three Arts or Social Science subjects. O’level: five credits, English plus four Arts or Social Science subjects. No UNIUYO remark |
| Communication Arts (on UNIUYO’s list) | UNIUYO remark: Music, Literature in English or Fine Arts, plus any two Arts or Social Science subjects. O’level: English and Literature in English; UNIUYO accepts a D7 in Mathematics |
| My advice for the UTME | Use of English, Literature in English, plus two of Government, CRS/IRS, Economics, History or another Arts or Social Science subject |
| My advice for O’level | Credits in English, Literature in English and Mathematics, plus two Arts or Social Science subjects, in no more than two sittings |
| Direct Entry | Both entries: two A-level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects |
JAMB’s brochure is the rulebook for subject combinations, and Myschool reprints it. Because the seven new UNIUYO communication degrees are not yet on JAMB’s UNIUYO list, there is no UNIUYO line for Advertising and Marketing Communication to quote. What I can show you are the two lines JAMB does carry for UNIUYO, both read on 3 November 2026.
If you take Literature in English and two other Arts or Social Science subjects, you satisfy the Mass Communication line and UNIUYO’s Communication Arts remark at the same time. That keeps you safe whichever entry JAMB attaches to the new programme. Mathematics is not a UTME subject here, but I would still hold an O’level credit in it; UNIUYO’s Communication Arts remark accepts a D7, and other new lines may not be so relaxed.
Direct Entry into Advertising and Marketing Communication
Both JAMB entries ask for two A-level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects, and neither has a UNIUYO remark on ND, HND or NCE. UNIUYO has not published DE rules for Advertising and Marketing Communication. If you hold an ND in Mass Communication, ask the admissions office in writing whether it will be considered and at what level.
The 2026/2027 screening notice covered DE candidates who chose UNIUYO first on JAMB DE, through the same portal.
How UNIUYO screening works for Advertising and Marketing Communication applicants
Every UTME and Direct Entry applicant goes through the same UNIUYO screening exercise, whatever the course. This is what the 2026/2027 round looked like.
| Detail | UNIUYO 2026/2027 | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Who could apply | 2026 UTME candidates with UNIUYO as first choice and at least 150; DE candidates with UNIUYO as first choice on JAMB DE | Official notice |
| Fee | ₦2,000, non-refundable, paid with a Remita RRR | Amount from Myschool reprint (5 June 2026) and a blog; RRR method from official notice |
| Portal | admissions.uniuyo.edu.ng | Official notice |
| What you do online | Create and verify an account, generate an RRR and pay, fill the form, upload documents as PDF, print the screening slip | Official notice |
| Test format | Not published. The notice only says “screening exercise” | Official notice is silent |
| Closing date in 2026 | Friday 7 August 2026, according to a blog | Not on the official page |
| Aggregate formula | Not published | No UNIUYO source |
| Admission deadline | JAMB set 31 October 2026 for public universities; that date has now passed | JAMB via NAN, 11 May 2026 |
Because UNIUYO is a public (federal) university, JAMB’s 31 October 2026 deadline for public universities applied to it, and that date has now passed. Supplementary or late admission lists can still show up on JAMB CAPS after the main window, so a 2026 candidate should keep checking CAPS rather than assume the year is over.
Worked example for an Advertising and Marketing Communication candidate
UNIUYO has not published an aggregate formula or a Post-UTME score scale, so I can’t show you an official calculation. What you can measure is how far your UTME score sits above the 150 minimum and how close it is to a safe target. The names below are made up.
- Candidate: Ubong scored 197 with B3 in English, B3 in Literature in English, C5 in Mathematics, C4 in Economics and C6 in Fine Arts from one sitting.
- Eligibility: 197 minus 150 = 47. Ubong clears UNIUYO’s minimum by 47 marks and can apply.
- Against my safe target: 200 minus 197 = 3. Ubong is 3 marks short of the score I would call competitive.
- O’level check: credits in English, Literature and Mathematics plus Arts and Social Science subjects; he fits both JAMB lines.
- My advice: he is 3 marks short of my target, which is close enough to apply with confidence if the course name checks out on CAPS.
Edidiong scored 205 but registered Mathematics, Economics and Commerce, the Marketing combination. 205 minus 150 = 55, a good score, but Mathematics and Commerce are not Arts or Social Science subjects in the Mass Communication line. She would be safer in UNIUYO’s B.Sc. Marketing, or should re-register with Literature for the next cycle.
Admission odds and advice for UNIUYO Advertising and Marketing Communication
Pick between the two UNIUYO marketing degrees on purpose. Advertising and Marketing Communication is about creating campaigns, copy and media plans. Marketing in Management Sciences is about selling, pricing and distribution, and it needs Mathematics, Economics and Government or Geography in the UTME.
Advertising in Nigeria is regulated by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), and practitioners register with it. Under NUC’s rules, ARCON is one of the few professional bodies with a waiver to take part in accrediting degrees, so ask the department whether ARCON has been involved in approving this new programme.
If your score is in the 180s, Film and Multimedia Studies or Strategic and Corporate Communication may give you better odds.
There is one more route worth knowing. UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 Basic Studies programme ran for one year, needed no JAMB score, cost ₦15,500 to apply, and used a CBT screening test. Candidates who passed could enter 200 level through JAMB Direct Entry if they met the course rules. The 2026/2027 registration closed on 30 September 2026, but the advert is the clearest picture of how the next round will work. Read it at uniuyo.edu.ng.
How to apply for Advertising and Marketing Communication at UNIUYO, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME correctly: choose the exact course name JAMB lists for Advertising and Marketing Communication at UNIUYO with Literature in English plus two other Arts or Social Science subjects, and put UNIUYO as your first choice. UNIUYO’s screening notice was limited to first-choice candidates. If you got this wrong, do a JAMB change of institution before screening opens.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB office or accredited centre so the results show on CAPS. Admission cannot be offered without them.
- Register for screening: go to admissions.uniuyo.edu.ng, create and verify an account, generate a Remita RRR and pay ₦2,000.
- Complete the form: fill in your details, upload the documents as PDF files, and print your Screening Exercise Slip.
- Watch CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. If UNIUYO offers you a place, accept it there. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and clear: UNIUYO has not published its acceptance fee in any official source I reached. Pay only on the UNIUYO portal and keep every receipt for clearance.
Studying Advertising and Marketing Communication at UNIUYO
Advertising and Marketing Communication is listed under UNIUYO’s Faculty of Communication and Media Studies in the May 2026 Basic Studies advert. UNIUYO has not published the degree title, department or campus for the new faculty in any source I reached. Communication degrees in Nigeria normally take four years for UTME entrants.
Accreditation
Advertising and Marketing Communication is a new programme. NUC split the old Mass Communication degree into seven programmes and said in January 2020 that Mass Communication had been unbundled, not scrapped (ICIR). I opened more than thirty NUC accreditation reports for UNIUYO and none was for Mass Communication or any of the seven new programmes, so I cannot confirm an accreditation status. New programmes usually run for a few years before their first accreditation visit; ask the department about NUC approval before you accept.

Mistakes that cost Advertising and Marketing Communication applicants a UNIUYO place
- Registering the Marketing combination: Mathematics, Economics and Commerce fit B.Sc. Marketing, not the communication line.
- Assuming the course is on JAMB’s UNIUYO list: check CAPS first.
- Putting UNIUYO second: the 2026/2027 screening notice only admitted first-choice candidates to the exercise.
- Reading 150 as an admission score: it is the minimum to apply. Merit decides who gets in.
- Leaving O’level off CAPS: an offer can’t be made until your results are there.
- Paying agents for “slots”: genuine UNIUYO offers appear on JAMB CAPS, and payments go through the portal’s Remita RRR.
If you are planning for the 2027 UTME, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts, and after the exam use our guide on how to check your JAMB result.
UNIUYO Advertising and Marketing Communication cut-off mark: frequently asked questions
Is 190 enough for Advertising and Marketing Communication in UNIUYO? It clears the 150 minimum, but my safe target is 200. With strong O’level credits it is possible.
Is Advertising and Marketing Communication the same as Marketing at UNIUYO? No. Marketing is a business degree in the Faculty of Management Sciences; this course is a media degree in the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, with different UTME subjects.
What subjects do I need for Advertising at UNIUYO? Use of English and three Arts or Social Science subjects. Literature in English among them meets both lines JAMB carries for UNIUYO.
Is this course on JAMB CAPS for UNIUYO? Not under this name on Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s UNIUYO list (3 November 2026). Confirm on the e-brochure or CAPS, or ask UNIUYO in writing.
