UM6P Pharmaceutical Sciences Faculty Jobs 2026 (Morocco): Profiles, Requirements and How to Apply
UM6P’s Faculty of Medical Sciences in Benguerir, Morocco, is hiring open rank pharmacy faculty in four profiles. Here are the requirements, documents, apply steps and the 15 November 2026 deadline.

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Benguerir, Morocco, is hiring pharmaceutical sciences faculty at open rank for its Faculty of Medical Sciences (FMS). There are four teaching and research profiles: Industrial Pharmacy, Clinical and Hospital Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Sciences / Clinical Biology, and Pharmacology and Pharmacodynamics. The core requirement is a PharmD plus a specialist qualification in the profile you choose. The deadline is 15 November 2026, and you apply online with a CV and a cover letter that names your profile.

This is one of the few open pharmacy faculty calls at an African university with an international profile, so it will interest pharmacists and pharmacy lecturers across Africa, the Middle East and Europe. The UM6P pharmaceutical sciences faculty job advert doesn’t state a salary, contract length or start date. Below is everything it does say, the full document checklist, how to choose your profile, and how to write an application that shows you can help build a young faculty.

The four profiles

You must say clearly in your application which profile you want to be considered for. Here is what each one usually covers in a pharmacy faculty:

ProfileTypical teaching and research
Industrial PharmacyFormulation, manufacturing, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, links with the pharmaceutical industry
Clinical and Hospital PharmacyPharmaceutical care, therapeutic drug use, hospital pharmacy practice, clinical placements
Medical Laboratory Sciences / Clinical BiologyClinical biochemistry, haematology, microbiology and other laboratory diagnostics
Pharmacology and PharmacodynamicsDrug action, receptor pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, preclinical research

The second column is general pharmacy-school practice, not UM6P’s wording. The advert lists only the profile names.

What the job involves

According to the advert, faculty in these posts will:

  • Teach lectures, tutorials and practicals in the pharmacy curriculum.
  • Do research in their specialty.
  • Supervise students and early-career researchers.
  • Contribute to the educational and scientific development of their discipline.
  • Build links with hospitals, laboratories, pharmaceutical companies and academic partners.
  • Help develop the faculty’s specialised training, including designing, accrediting and setting up clinical placement sites for future pharmacy specialty degrees.
  • Take on academic or educational coordination roles where appropriate.

The sixth point tells you most about the job. UM6P is building specialty pharmacy programmes and the clinical sites that support them. Whoever is hired will design curricula and placement sites as well as teach. That is why the advert asks about programme design and accreditation in its desirable criteria.

A note for pharmacists with a bachelor’s degree

The advert asks for a PharmD. In several countries, including Nigeria until recently, the standard first pharmacy degree has been a Bachelor of Pharmacy rather than a PharmD. If your first degree is a B.Pharm and you hold a PhD or a specialist fellowship, the advert’s wording on “equivalent recognised qualification” refers to the specialist qualification, not the PharmD. Read the full advert and, if in doubt, explain your qualification route plainly in your cover letter instead of assuming it will be accepted.

UM6P salary and benefits

UM6P hasn’t published a salary, benefits or relocation package for these posts. Ask about pay, housing, relocation and family support if you are invited to interview. Any figure you see on a third-party site is a guess.

The advert doesn’t mention visa or work permit sponsorship. Foreign nationals need a work contract approved by Moroccan authorities and a residence card to work in Morocco, so confirm with UM6P that it handles this before you accept an offer.

How to apply for the UM6P pharmaceutical sciences faculty job

  1. Choose your profile: pick one of the four and name it in the first line of your cover letter.
  2. Gather your documents: see the checklist below.
  3. Open the application form: click “Apply now” on the Times Higher Education listing.
  4. Fill in your details: first name, last name and email address.
  5. Upload your CV: in .doc, .docx, .pdf or .rtf format, no larger than 1MB.
  6. Write the cover message: this box is required. Paste a short version of your cover letter and state your profile.
  7. Add supporting documents: same formats and the same 1MB limit per file.
  8. Submit by 15 November 2026: the advert gives no time of day, so submit a day early.

File size limit

Each upload must be 1MB or less. Scanned diplomas often exceed this, so compress them or merge them into one small PDF before you start the form.

Document checklist

DocumentTip
Cover letter stating your profileProfile name in the first sentence
Detailed CVTeaching, research, clinical or industry experience in separate sections
Copy of your PharmD diplomaCompress the scan to stay under 1MB
Copy of your specialist diploma or equivalentInclude a short note if the title differs from Moroccan usage
Evidence of professional and academic experienceAppointment letters or certificates of service
List of publications and scientific workGroup by type: articles, conference papers, patents
Summary of teaching and supervisionCourses, hours, students and residents supervised
Other evidence of developing your disciplineCurricula you designed, accreditation work, programme coordination

Because the form limits each file to 1MB, combine related scans into a single PDF where you can.

How to write the cover letter

A clear one to two page structure:

  1. Profile and rank: “I am applying for the Clinical and Hospital Pharmacy profile at Associate Professor level.”
  2. Qualifications: your PharmD, specialist qualification and any further degrees, with institutions and years.
  3. Teaching and supervision: courses taught, residents or interns supervised, and teaching methods you use.
  4. Research: your main research line, best publications and any grants.
  5. Building the discipline: curricula you designed, programmes you accredited, placement sites you set up. This answers the advert’s sixth responsibility directly.
  6. Why UM6P: what you would build at FMS in the first three years.

A sample opening, for illustration only: “I am applying for the Industrial Pharmacy profile at Assistant Professor level; after six years in formulation development at a generic manufacturer, I now teach pharmaceutics and want to help UM6P build industry placements for its future specialty degrees.” Swap in your own facts.

UM6P’s call is published in English and French. If you write well in French, mention it, since teaching in Morocco often involves French. The advert itself does not set a language requirement.

What happens after you apply

UM6P hasn’t published its selection stages for this call. Faculty recruitment in the region usually runs like this: a shortlist from the file review, an online interview with a faculty panel, a teaching or research seminar (online or on campus), then an offer. Expect the process to take several weeks after the deadline.

Common mistakes

  • Not naming a profile. The advert says applicants must state it clearly.
  • Uploading scans larger than 1MB and having the form reject them.
  • Leaving out the specialist diploma, which is an essential requirement.
  • Writing only about teaching and research while ignoring curriculum design and accreditation, which UM6P wants.
  • Applying for a rank your publication record can’t support.

Who should apply and who shouldn’t

You should apply if you hold a PharmD and a specialist qualification, have hospital, laboratory, industry or academic experience, and want to help build a pharmacy faculty. Hospital pharmacists who supervise residents, industrial pharmacists who teach part time, and current pharmacy lecturers looking for a research-active post all fit.

I wouldn’t apply if you have no specialist qualification and no research record, or if you are looking for a pure clinical post with no teaching. If you are a pharmacy graduate looking for postgraduate study rather than a job, our guide to scholarships for African students is a better place to start.

About UM6P and Benguerir

UM6P was created in 2013 by the OCP Foundation and officially inaugurated in January 2017. In October 2025 Morocco World News reported that it had 8,756 students from 40 nationalities, including 1,300 doctoral students. In the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026, UM6P was placed in the 351 to 400 band, the highest of any Moroccan university. The Faculty of Medical Sciences trains doctors and pharmacists, with an emphasis on early clinical exposure and international partnerships, according to UM6P.

Benguerir is a small city north of Marrakech, built around the UM6P campus and phosphate mining. Living costs are lower than in Casablanca or Rabat, but the range of shops, schools and services is smaller, so families should ask about schooling. Marrakech is the nearest large city for flights and shopping.
