If Peaceland University admits you to Education and English Language, the minimum score is 150 in the UTME, JAMB’s 2026/2027 minimum for every university. Peaceland University, Enugu has not published a separate cut-off for the course. But before you plan around that number, you need to know the bigger problem: Education and English Language is not on JAMB’s course list for Peaceland University.
2027/2028 update: Peaceland University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
A summary of Peaceland’s 2026/2027 advert lists English Language Education in the Faculty of Education. JAMB’s list for Peaceland, which I checked on Myschool’s reprint on 30 October 2026, has 30 courses. It includes four “Education and …” courses (Biology, Computer Science, Economics and Political Science), but no Education and English Language. Since CAPS only processes admissions into courses JAMB lists for a university, you cannot register this course under Peaceland as things stand. My advice: if you want to teach English with a degree, register Education and English Language at Coal City University (CCU) in Enugu, where JAMB lists it and the NUC rates it Full, or Education Arts (English) at UNN. If you want to stay at Peaceland, English Language and Linguistics is on its list.
Below I explain the gap, how to check it yourself, the subjects JAMB uses for Education and English Language, the CAPS steps and each alternative in detail.

Why the JAMB course list matters
Every university admission in Nigeria passes through JAMB’s Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). The university proposes you for a course, JAMB checks it against what you registered and against the courses it has approved for that university, and only then does the offer appear for you to accept. In May 2026 the News Agency of Nigeria reported JAMB’s position that admissions done outside CAPS are illegal.
So if Education and English Language is missing from Peaceland’s JAMB list, there is no CAPS route into it under that name. A course can show up in an advert but not on JAMB’s list for a few reasons:
- New programme: it may have been approved recently and not yet added, or the reprint I read may lag behind JAMB’s own portal.
- Planned course: it may be advertised ahead of approval.
- Different admission route: the university may intend to admit English Education students under another listed course and move them later. Peaceland has not said this anywhere I could find, so do not assume it.
Whatever the reason, the safe rule holds: do not register a course for Peaceland that is not on its JAMB list, and do not accept a promise to “change it later” unless Peaceland confirms it in writing and the final offer shows on CAPS.
How to check the list yourself
- Open JAMB’s brochure or the registration page: on the JAMB e-Facility, look up Peaceland University’s courses, or ask at your CBT centre to see the course dropdown for Peaceland.
- Search for “English”: at the time of writing, only English Language and Linguistics appears for Peaceland.
- Ask Peaceland in writing: email or visit the admissions office and ask whether Education and English Language has JAMB approval for the 2027/2028 cycle. Keep the reply.
Do not confuse Peaceland University with Peaceland College of Education
There are two Peaceland institutions in Enugu, and mixing them up causes real problems.
- Peaceland University is a private university that began legal operation in the 2023/2024 session. It is the subject of this page.
- Peaceland College of Education, Enugu is a separate, older college that runs NCE programmes, including English language pairs.
When you search the NUC website for “Peaceland”, the Education reports you find, such as Political Science Education and Physics Education with Full status after visits in November 2024, belong to Peaceland College of Education’s degree programmes affiliated to Abia State University. They are not Peaceland University results, and none of them is English Education. Also note that JAMB’s June 2026 NCE guide says no colleges of education will admit students into 100 or 200 level degree programmes from 2026/2027, affiliated degrees included. So the college’s degree route is not open to new candidates either.
JAMB subjects and O’level for Education and English Language
These are JAMB’s general requirements for Education and English Language at Nigerian universities. They are what you would need at CCU or any university that lists the course. The brochure has no remark for Peaceland or CCU.
| Requirement | Education and English Language (JAMB brochure) |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Literature in English, one Arts subject and any other subject |
| O’level | Five credits including English Language and Literature in English, plus three other Arts or Social Science subjects |
| Mathematics | Not in the general rule, but some universities (for example LASU, UNIABUJA and EBSU) require it; I would get the credit anyway |
| Direct Entry | Two A-level passes in relevant teaching subjects including Literature in English, or NCE credit or merit in two relevant subjects |
| Degree and duration | Usually a four-year B.A.(Ed.) or B.Ed. |
Literature in English is the subject that decides this course. It is compulsory in the UTME and at O’level under the general rule. If you dropped Literature in SS2, your options for any English Education degree narrow quickly; English Language and Linguistics or an NCE pair may suit you better.
Your alternatives
1. Education and English Language at Coal City University, Enugu
This is the closest like-for-like option in Enugu city.
- JAMB list: “Education and English Language” is on JAMB’s list for CCU (Myschool reprint, 30 October 2026).
- Accreditation: the NUC’s “Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025” publication lists CCU’s Education English as Full, maturing in 2028.
- Cut-off: CCU has published no departmental figure, so JAMB’s 150 applies.
- Subjects: the JAMB general rule above.
Our guide to the CCU Education and English Language cut-off mark covers the details.
2. Education and English at UNN
UNN admits Education and English through its Education Arts programme. It screened candidates from 160 in 2026/2027, and its brochure remark makes English Language and Literature compulsory for the English option. See the UNN Education Arts cut-off mark.
3. English Language and Linguistics at Peaceland
If you want Peaceland specifically, this course is on its JAMB list. It is not a teaching degree, so you would need a postgraduate diploma in education later to qualify as a teacher. One warning: Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure page for English Language and Linguistics currently shows Igbo-based requirements, which look like a copying error. Confirm the real subject combination on the JAMB e-brochure before you register.
4. An NCE in English at Peaceland College of Education
If your goal is to teach soon and your score is low, the NCE route is worth a look. NCE candidates with at least four O’level credits do not sit the UTME but must register with JAMB and are admitted on CAPS. See our guide to Peaceland College of Education English and language NCE. An NCE is not a degree, but you can later use it for Direct Entry into a university B.Ed.
5. Other Education courses at Peaceland
Peaceland’s JAMB list includes Education and Biology, Education and Computer Science, Education and Economics, Education and Political Science, Guidance and Counseling, and Human Kinetics and Health Education. None of them trains you to teach English, but they are legitimate CAPS routes into Peaceland’s Faculty of Education.
| Option | On the JAMB list? | Minimum UTME score | Teaching qualification? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Education and English Language, CCU | Yes | 150 | Yes (degree) |
| Education Arts (English), UNN | Yes | 160 to screen | Yes (degree) |
| English Language and Linguistics, Peaceland | Yes | 150 | No (needs a PGDE later) |
| NCE English pairs, Peaceland College of Education | Yes, as NCE | No UTME with four credits | Yes (NCE) |
| Education and English Language, Peaceland University | No | 150 if it were listed | Yes (degree) |
What Peaceland has published about screening
Not much, and nothing for Education. The only Peaceland screening test with a published date was on 18 September 2024 for six health courses (Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, Physiotherapy, Community Health, Environmental Health and Public Health), according to Myschool’s reprint. For 2026/2027, Myschool reported on 28 April 2026 that admission was ongoing, with applications through the “Enroll Now” link at apply.peacelanduni.edu.ng. No test date for Education has been published. Peaceland’s fee schedule lists ₦200,000 a session for Education departments, with a ₦10,000 form and ₦10,000 acceptance fee, but that only matters once you are admitted into a course JAMB lists for Peaceland.
TheCable has reported that Peaceland’s pro-chancellor, Felix Ugwuozor, asked the NUC to raise the university’s admission quota, saying many qualified applicants had to be turned away. In practice that means even listed courses at Peaceland are capped, so apply early.
A worked example
Take Nneka, who scored 172 in the 2026 UTME with English, Literature in English, Government and CRS, and has credits in English, Literature, Mathematics, Government and CRS.
- Against the minimum: 172 minus 150 = 22 above JAMB’s floor.
- Peaceland Education and English: not on JAMB’s list, so she cannot be admitted into it on CAPS.
- CCU Education and English Language: her UTME subjects and O’level fit the general rule, and 172 clears 150. This is her best match.
- UNN Education Arts (English): 172 clears UNN’s 160 screening minimum, so it is a second option if she changes her first choice in time.
This example uses only the minimum scores; neither CCU nor Peaceland has published an aggregate formula.
How to apply (for whichever option you choose)
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the line linked to your NIN.
- Register a listed course: pick a course and university pair that JAMB actually lists. For English Education in Enugu that means CCU or UNN, not Peaceland University.
- Already registered Peaceland? Use a JAMB change of institution or a JAMB change of course before the university proposes admissions.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: without it no university can recommend you.
- Apply on the university’s own portal: apply.peacelanduni.edu.ng for Peaceland, portal.ccu.edu.ng for CCU.
- Accept on CAPS: at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status and Access my CAPS, and accept within JAMB’s four-week window. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance only from the portal invoice: Peaceland’s fee schedule lists ₦10,000 for Education departments; CCU’s acceptance fee was not published in any source I reached.
Warning
Some forum posts advertise “Peaceland University forms” with private phone numbers. Never pay an individual for admission into a course that is not on JAMB’s list. If an offer is real, it will show on your JAMB CAPS page under the exact course name.
Studying English Education: what to expect and careers
A B.A.(Ed.) or B.Ed. in English normally combines English language and literature courses (grammar, phonetics, the novel, drama, poetry, oral English) with education courses (psychology of learning, curriculum, methods of teaching English, measurement and evaluation) and a teaching practice placement in a secondary school. Graduates register with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) to teach, and work in secondary schools, examination bodies, publishing, editing, communications and educational administration. A good English Education degree is also a strong base for a master’s in English, linguistics or education.

Which university in Enugu offers Education and English Language? Coal City University lists Education and English Language on JAMB with Full NUC accreditation, and UNN admits Education and English through Education Arts with a 160 screening minimum.
