Clifford University Marketing Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

Clifford University’s cut-off for Marketing is 150. Its Marketing requirements match Banking and Finance, including an O’level science credit. See the safe target, UTME subjects, Direct Entry, screening, a worked example and 2026/2027 fees.

The Clifford University Marketing cut-off mark 2027/2028 candidates should plan with is 150 in the UTME. That figure comes from Clifford’s 2026/2027 admission notice, which gives 150 as the JAMB cut-off for all courses; JAMB’s national minimum for universities is also 150. Clifford has not published a separate Marketing cut-off.

2027/2028 update: Clifford University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Clifford’s requirements page gives Marketing exactly the same entry rules as Banking and Finance, which means a science credit at O’level. JAMB’s brochure, on the other hand, makes Economics compulsory in the UTME. Below I put both side by side and cover the safe target score (my advice), Direct Entry, screening, a worked example, the CAPS steps and the 2026/2027 fees.

As with every Clifford course, Marketing has no figure of its own. The university-wide number rose from the 130 screening level reported in 2022 to 150 in 2026/2027, in line with JAMB’s minimum for universities.

Safe target score for Marketing at Clifford (my advice)

Clifford publishes one cut-off for every course. The table below is my judgement as an admissions adviser, not a Clifford rule.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Marketing at Clifford
Below 150Not eligible. Clifford’s cut-off and JAMB’s university minimum are both 150.
150 to 164Eligible. Admission is realistic if your O’level is complete and you do well at screening.
165 to 179A comfortable position for a private university of Clifford’s size.
180 and aboveStrong. This is the range I would aim for.

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 170; 180 and above is strong. At Clifford a clean O’level record matters as much as a high score, because the Marketing list is stricter than JAMB’s.

UTME subject combination and O’level for Clifford Marketing

RequirementJAMB brochure (Myschool reprint)Clifford’s own page
UTME subjectsUse of English, Mathematics, Economics and any other social science subjectEnglish, Mathematics, Economics and one other subject
O’levelFive credits including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other relevant subjectsFive credits: English, Mathematics, Economics, one science subject, and one of Accounting, Business Methods, Commerce, Government, Geography or Statistics
SittingsNot stated in the main entryNot more than two
Direct EntryTwo A-level passes including EconomicsTwo A-level passes from Economics, Accounts, Business Management, Government, Geography or Statistics; O’level rules also apply
Clifford-specific remarkNone (Clifford is not named in the brochure remarks)Not applicable

Clifford allows “one other subject” as the fourth UTME subject, and JAMB’s brochure narrows that to a social science subject. Register English, Mathematics, Economics and Government (or Geography) and both documents are satisfied.

At O’level, Clifford wants a credit in one science subject, such as Biology, Chemistry or Physics, plus one from Accounting, Business Methods, Commerce, Government, Geography or Statistics. JAMB’s brochure only asks for two other relevant subjects, so Clifford is the stricter of the two here. Commerce counts for the commercial slot but not for the science one.

Direct Entry into Marketing

Clifford lists two A-level passes from Economics, Accounts, Business Management, Government, Geography or Statistics, and requires Direct Entry candidates to meet the O’level rules too. No ND or HND route is listed for Marketing on Clifford’s page.

JAMB’s brochure asks for two A-level passes including Economics. Economics with Business Management is a sensible pair for Marketing.

Clifford’s transfer and Direct Entry page says Direct Entry students are admitted into 200 level and that all of them, except JUPEB candidates, sit a university screening test. You will also need your complete transcript or statement of result before admission is confirmed.

How Clifford screens Marketing applicants

Clifford has not published the format, date or pass mark of its screening for the coming session. Three things are on record. Its requirements page asks Law applicants for “successful performance at all levels” of the CLU Post-UTME and admission screening, which tells you a screening exercise exists for UTME candidates. Myschool reported in June 2022 that candidates with 130 and above could apply, including those who had not chosen Clifford. And a blog post from October 2025 said the form was free and that an aptitude test would hold on a date to be announced. Clifford has confirmed neither the free form nor the test format.

Under the 2026 rules, that old 130 invitation level no longer helps you. Clifford’s own notice now gives 150 as its cut-off, the same as JAMB’s minimum for universities, and JAMB will not approve an admission below it.

Worked example (illustrative)

Clifford has not published an aggregate formula. Many Nigerian universities weigh the UTME and their own test equally, so I use a 50:50 split below purely to show how the numbers interact. Your real ranking may be done differently.

  1. Candidate: Somto scored 167 with English, Mathematics, Economics and Geography, and has credits in English, Mathematics, Economics, Agricultural Science and Commerce from one sitting.
  2. Eligibility: 167 minus 150 = 17 marks above the cut-off. Whether Agricultural Science counts as the science credit is something she should confirm with Clifford; Biology, Chemistry or Physics would remove the doubt.
  3. UTME half (illustration): 167 divided by 400, times 50 = 20.875.
  4. Screening half (illustration): a 70% screening score gives 35.
  5. Illustrative total: 20.875 + 35 = 55.875 out of 100.

In this illustration Somto’s good screening result makes up for her lower UTME score. Before any of that counts, though, her subjects and O’level have to pass Clifford’s checks.

Your chances of admission into Marketing at Clifford

Clifford began academic activities in March 2017 and reported about 1,500 students in its 2024 convocation story. Marketing at a university of that size is unlikely to be a crowded course, so meeting the requirements carefully gives you a good chance.

Cost is the main deciding factor. The 2026/2027 programme fee is ₦825,500, plus ₦150,000 acceptance and ₦50,000 matriculation for new students. If Clifford was not your first choice, you will normally need a JAMB change of institution before Clifford can admit you on CAPS.

How to apply for Marketing at Clifford, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME correctly: choose Marketing with English, Mathematics, Economics and Government (or Geography), and pick Clifford University as your institution. First choice is the cleanest route.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do this at a JAMB-accredited centre as soon as your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out. Clifford accepts credits from not more than two sittings.
  4. Apply on the Clifford portal: the official homepage sends applicants to soap.clifforduni.edu.ng. The homepage does not state a form price, so read the fee on the portal itself before paying. Clifford’s homepage lists 08036970755 and 07034871571 for admission enquiries.
  5. Take part in the CLU screening: Clifford refers to its Post-UTME and admission screening exercises on its requirements page. Watch the portal and your email for the date and format.
  6. Accept the offer on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. JAMB gave 2026 candidates four weeks to accept or reject an offer.
  7. Pay acceptance and register: Clifford lists the acceptance fee as ₦150,000 for 2026/2027. Pay only through the university’s official payment channel, then complete clearance and print your JAMB admission letter.

Warning

JAMB said in May 2026 that any admission done outside CAPS is illegal. If someone offers you a Clifford admission “slot” for money, refuse. A genuine offer shows on your JAMB CAPS page, and fees are paid through the university’s own portal.

When your status changes on CAPS, our JAMB CAPS guide explains what each status means and how to accept.

Clifford’s published fee schedule is headed “Approved school fees for 2026/2027 academic session”. It gives one amount per programme and does not break it into tuition, accommodation or other charges, so ask the bursary what the ₦825,500 covers before you budget for a hostel, books and feeding on top of it. Fees for 2027/2028 had not been published when I checked, and private university fees often rise from one session to the next.

Studying Marketing at Clifford University

Marketing is in Clifford’s Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, with Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Accounting and Mass Communication nearby. The degree is a B.Sc. (Hons.).

What you study

  • Foundation years: principles of marketing, introductory economics, principles of management, business mathematics and statistics.
  • Core courses: consumer behaviour, marketing research, sales management, advertising and promotion, and product and brand management.
  • Final years: international marketing, digital marketing, marketing strategy, research methods and a final-year project.
  • General studies: Clifford also runs university-wide courses; ask the department for the current list.

Duration and accreditation

UTME entrants usually spend four years on a B.Sc. in Marketing. Clifford’s page does not state the duration.

I found no NUC accreditation report for Clifford’s Marketing programme. NUC reports from late 2024 show full accreditation for Business Administration, Accounting and Economics at Clifford, but Marketing was not among those I found. Clifford’s 2024 convocation report says its programmes are certified by the NUC. Ask for the programme’s current status before paying acceptance fees. Exemptions from the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) are not published.

Careers after the degree

  • Sales, brand and trade marketing roles in consumer goods, telecoms and banks
  • Advertising, public relations and digital marketing agencies
  • Market research and customer insight jobs
  • Professional membership through the NIMN, and postgraduate study in marketing or business

If you are still deciding on your course, read our guides to JAMB change of course and JAMB change of institution.

Mistakes that cost Marketing applicants a Clifford place

  • No science credit at O’level: Clifford’s Marketing list asks for one.
  • An arts subject as the fourth UTME subject: JAMB’s brochure asks for a social science subject.
  • No Economics in the UTME: both JAMB and Clifford name it.
  • Three O’level sittings: Clifford accepts two at most.
  • Forgetting the CAPS upload: JAMB cannot approve your admission without it.
  • Paying an agent: pay only through Clifford’s official channel.
