NBU Entrepreneurship Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028: Does NBU Offer It? Requirements and Alternatives

Nigerian British University is not admitting into Entrepreneurship for 2026/2027, so it has no cut-off for it. See what the sources say, the closest NBU courses at 160 and JAMB’s Entrepreneurship requirements.

Nigerian British University (NBU) is not advertising Entrepreneurship as a degree for 2026/2027, so there is no NBU cut-off mark for it. NBU’s own undergraduate admission page lists 18 programmes with their minimum UTME scores, and Entrepreneurship is not one of them. It is also missing from the JAMB-style course list for NBU on universitycourses.ng. Wikipedia and a May 2026 admission blog still name Entrepreneurship among NBU’s courses, which is why candidates keep searching for it.

2027/2028 update: NBU’s admission requirements and programme list usually stay the same from one year to the next, so what this page says is what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. It comes from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice adds Entrepreneurship or changes anything else, we will update this page.

If you want an Entrepreneurship degree from NBU, my advice is simple: do not register “Entrepreneurship” with NBU on JAMB unless the university confirms in writing that it is admitting into it. Below I explain what the evidence shows, the closest NBU courses you can apply for with the same subjects (all at 160), JAMB’s requirements for Entrepreneurship if you take it elsewhere, and how to apply.

Does NBU offer Entrepreneurship? What each source says

NBU older fee schedule (old.nbu.edu.ng)Lists an “Entrepreneurship” charge of ₦100,000 a session among other chargesOfficial, but it is a charge, not a degree

The fee line is easy to misread. NBU’s older schedule puts “Entrepreneurship” among the extra charges students pay each session, next to items like accommodation and development. That reads as a charge for entrepreneurship training taken by students across the university. Nigerian universities teach entrepreneurship courses to all undergraduates as part of general studies, so seeing the word on a fee schedule does not mean NBU runs a B.Sc. in it.

Other NBU courses named on Wikipedia, such as Finance and Banking, Peace and Conflict Resolution and Hospitality and Tourism Management, are also missing from NBU’s current admission page. The page lists International Relations and Diplomacy where older lists said Political Science and International Relations. NBU appears to have trimmed or renamed some Management and Social Sciences courses, and only the admissions office can say whether Entrepreneurship will return.

NBU cut-off marks for the courses it does offer, 2026/2027

Minimum UTME scoreProgrammes
200 and aboveMedicine and Surgery (MBBS)
180 and aboveLaw, Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science
160 and aboveData Science, Cyber Security, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Mass Communication, International Relations and Diplomacy, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Information and Communication Engineering

The lowest score NBU accepts for any course is 160, 10 marks above JAMB’s 2026/2027 national minimum of 150 for universities. Score websites that give “150” for an NBU Entrepreneurship course are quoting JAMB’s national floor for a course NBU is not admitting into.

NBU courses closest to Entrepreneurship

If business is what you want, three NBU courses in the 160 group cover the same ground. Each one has an Entrepreneurship flavour through the general entrepreneurship courses every NBU student takes.

NBU courseMinimum UTMEWhy it fits an aspiring entrepreneur
Business Administration160Closest match: management, marketing, small business and strategy
Accounting160Money side of a business; leads to ICAN and other professional exams
Economics160Markets, pricing, policy and data; good base for a business or a master’s

Safe target score for these NBU courses (my advice)

NBU has not published applicant numbers or the lowest score it admitted, so this is my judgement. For Business Administration, Accounting or Economics at NBU I would aim for 180 or more in the 2027 UTME. That gives 20 marks of room above 160 and keeps the same courses open at most private universities in the South-East.

Entrepreneurship UTME subject combination and O’level requirements

If you decide to study Entrepreneurship at a university that runs it, here is JAMB’s general line for Entrepreneurship from Myschool reprint of the JAMB brochure. No university remarks loaded on that page, so check your chosen school’s remark on JAMB’s e-brochure.

RequirementJAMB general line for Entrepreneurship
UTME subjectsUse of English, Economics, Mathematics and one other Social Science or Commercial subject
O’levelFive credits including English Language, Mathematics, Economics, one Science subject and one other Social Science or Commercial subject
Direct EntryTwo A level passes including Economics, plus one of Accounts, Business Management, Government, Geography or Mathematics

The good news is that the same subjects work for NBU’s business courses. For Accounting, JAMB’s general line on Myschool’s Accountancy/Accounting page is Mathematics, Economics and any Social Science subject, with O’level credits in English, Mathematics, Economics and two others. For Business Administration and Economics, JAMB’s usual combination is also Mathematics, Economics and one Social Science subject, but confirm the exact line on JAMB’s e-brochure before you register. NBU adds its own rules for every course: five credits including English and Mathematics, from no more than two sittings, and age 16 by 30 September 2026.

A subject set that keeps every option open

Register Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and Government (or Commerce, if you are sure your target universities accept it). That set fits JAMB’s general lines for Entrepreneurship, Accounting, Business Administration and Economics, so you can move between them with a change of course instead of a fresh UTME. At O’level, add a science credit (Biology or Agricultural Science is fine) because the Entrepreneurship line asks for one.

How to apply to NBU for a business course, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number linked to your NIN.
  2. Register a course NBU is admitting into: Business Administration, Accounting or Economics, with Mathematics, Economics and a Social Science subject. If you already registered Entrepreneurship with NBU, use JAMB change of course to switch, and use JAMB change of institution if NBU was not your choice.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: at a JAMB-accredited CBT centre, with English and Mathematics credits included.
  4. Apply on the NBU portal: go through NBU’s undergraduate admission page to application.nbu.edu.ng. The course on your portal form must match the course on CAPS, and NBU says incomplete uploads are not considered.
  5. Meet the closing date: NBU’s 2026/2027 applications close on 30 November 2026, the same date JAMB set as the 2026/2027 deadline for private universities. Non-first-choice candidates must switch to NBU on CAPS by then.
  6. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. JAMB gave four weeks to accept in 2026. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  7. Pay through NBU only: NBU’s older schedule lists ₦40,000 acceptance for all programmes; confirm the current figure on the portal before paying.

Worked example: switching from Entrepreneurship

Ifeoma registered Entrepreneurship with NBU as first choice and scored 176 with English, Mathematics, Economics and Commerce. Her WAEC has credits in English, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce and Biology in one sitting.

  1. Course check: Entrepreneurship is not on NBU’s 2026/2027 list, so NBU cannot recommend her for it on CAPS.
  2. Score check: 176 is above the 160 line for Business Administration, Accounting and Economics.
  3. Subject check: Mathematics and Economics fit all three, and Commerce is a commercial subject. She should confirm on JAMB’s e-brochure that NBU accepts Commerce for her new course.
  4. Action: she does a JAMB change of course to Business Administration at NBU, then applies on the NBU portal for Business Administration so both records match.

Illustration only: some universities rank candidates with a 50:50 aggregate (UTME divided by 8, plus a screening or O’level score). NBU has published no formula, so Ifeoma’s only firm test is the 160 line and complete documents.

Where else can you study Entrepreneurship in Abia State?

Lux Mundi University, Umuahia, appears with Entrepreneurship on aggregator course lists, though its own website could not be read and the course is not officially confirmed. Read our Lux Mundi Entrepreneurship cut-off mark guide before you choose it, and ask any university for written confirmation that it is admitting into Entrepreneurship for your session. Whichever school you pick, confirm on JAMB’s e-brochure that it is listed under Entrepreneurship before you register.

What an Entrepreneurship degree covers

For readers weighing Entrepreneurship against Business Administration, here is the usual shape of a Nigerian B.Sc. Entrepreneurship. It runs for four years for UTME entrants. Courses typically include business creation and growth, small business management, innovation and creativity, marketing, accounting and finance for entrepreneurs, family business, business law and a final business plan or research project. Business Administration covers much of the same management core with more weight on large organisations. If you want to start a business, either degree works, and your practical projects and internships will matter more than the title.

Accreditation and fees at NBU

I could not confirm NUC accreditation for any NBU Management and Social Sciences programme: NUC’s results file could not be read as far as NBU, and no NUC programme report naming NBU turned up. On fees, NBU’s older schedule (2024/2025 new students) lists ₦900,000 tuition and ₦2,266,000 in total for Management and Social Sciences, including ₦650,000 accommodation. Ask the bursary for the 2026/2027 bill.

Do not pay for a course that is not listed

Forum adverts with private phone numbers sell NBU forms and “admission lists”. If an agent offers you NBU Entrepreneurship, ask to see it on NBU’s admission page and on JAMB CAPS. A real NBU offer always shows on CAPS, and admission outside CAPS is illegal.

Sources and updates

NBU’s programme list, score groups, 30 November 2026 closing date, portal, matching rule and O’level, age and Direct Entry rules are from NBU’s undergraduate admission page, read on 29 October 2026. The JAMB-style NBU course list is universitycourses.ng’s (last modified 28 February 2026). The Entrepreneurship requirements are from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure and the Accounting line from the Accountancy/Accounting entry. The fee figures and the Entrepreneurship charge are from NBU’s older fee schedule on old.nbu.edu.ng. Wikipedia and an AbsTechConnect blog post (25 May 2026) are the sources that still list Entrepreneurship. The 150 national minimum, the four-week acceptance window and the 30 November 2026 private university deadline are from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026), which also reported that admissions outside CAPS are illegal.
