Does MAU offer Nursing Science? As of the 2026/2027 admission cycle, no source we can confirm shows Modibbo Adama University, Yola (MAU, formerly MAUTECH) admitting B.N.Sc. Nursing students through the UTME. Nursing Science is not on JAMB’s course list for MAU, the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) does not list an MAU degree programme, and an education site that answered the question in March 2025 said MAU did not offer it.
2027/2028 update: MAU’s course list and admission requirements usually stay the same from one year to the next, so what this page says is what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. It is based on the latest information (2026/2027). If MAU’s 2027/2028 JAMB brochure entry or admission notice adds Nursing Science, we will update this page.
The confusion is understandable. Wikipedia lists “Nursing” under MAU’s medical college, and the teaching hospital in Yola that carries MAU’s name runs an NMCN-approved College of Nursing Sciences. Neither is the same as a university nursing degree you can choose on JAMB. Below you will find what each source says, what a nursing degree at MAU would require if it opens, safer options at MAU, other nursing routes in Adamawa State, and how to avoid paying for a form that does not exist.
Does MAU offer Nursing Science? What each source says
| Source | What it shows | Date checked |
|---|---|---|
| JAMB course list for MAUTECH (Myschool reprint) | No Nursing Science. Health courses listed: Medicine and Surgery, Medical Laboratory Science | 3 November 2026 |
| NMCN list of approved schools (December 2025) | No MAU university nursing degree. Adamawa entries are the College of Nursing Science, Adamawa State and the College of Nursing Sciences at the MAU Teaching Hospital, Yola | 3 November 2026 |
| Studentship (reply dated 6 March 2025) | Says MAUTECH does not currently offer Nursing Science | 3 November 2026 |
| Studentship MAUTECH course list (updated 8 March 2024) | No Nursing Science | 3 November 2026 |
| Wikipedia article on MAU | Lists “Nursing” under the College of Medical Sciences, without a source for admission | 3 November 2026 |
| NUC Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 (September 2026) | No Nursing row, and no medical or allied health heading, in MAU’s section | 3 November 2026 |
| MAU 2026/2027 screening notice (reprint) | General rules for all courses; no list of Nursing places | 3 November 2026 |
Put together, the safe reading is that MAU may be planning a nursing department, but it was not an admitting UTME course in 2026/2027. If you choose a course on JAMB that is not on MAU’s list, the system simply will not offer it under MAU.
MAU Nursing Science versus the MAU Teaching Hospital nursing college
The Federal Medical Centre, Yola was approved for upgrade to Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital (MAUTH). The NMCN’s December 2025 list includes a College of Nursing Sciences at MAUTH, Yola, with its Nursing and Midwifery programmes shown as provisionally approved from August 2024, plus some post-basic programmes.
- The MAUTH college is a hospital-based nursing college on the NMCN list. Its entry route, forms and requirements are set by the college, not by the MAU degree admissions office, and we have not covered them here.
- A B.N.Sc. at MAU would be a five-year university degree chosen on JAMB with MAU as first choice. We found no evidence that it was admitting in 2026/2027.
- Provisional approval on the NMCN list is time-limited and has to be renewed, so check the college’s current status before paying.
If you want the MAUTH college, contact the college directly and confirm its admission notice. Do not buy a “MAU Nursing” form from an agent on the assumption that the two are the same.
If MAU opens Nursing: the requirements to prepare for
This is preparation advice in case MAU adds the course. The figures are MAU’s general screening rules and JAMB’s usual nursing requirements, not a published MAU nursing rule.
| Requirement | What to prepare |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology (JAMB’s usual combination for Nursing Science) |
| O’level | Five credits: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology |
| MAU general screening minimum | 160 in 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 (reprints of MAU notices) |
| JAMB national minimum for universities | 150 (2026) |
| Safe target if it opens (my advice) | 220 or more; nursing seats are usually few at a new department |
| Professional approval to look for | NMCN approval for the B.N.Sc., and NUC approval for the programme |
The same five subjects serve Medicine and Medical Laboratory Science, so preparing for them keeps your options open at MAU even if Nursing does not appear.
Nursing alternatives at MAU
If you are set on MAU, these health and science courses are on JAMB’s list for the university and use the same UTME subjects or close to them:
- MAU cut-off mark for Medicine and Surgery: the most competitive option; MBBS applicants also sat an aptitude test in 2026.
- MAU cut-off mark for Medical Laboratory Science: on JAMB’s list for MAU, but confirm it is admitting.
- MAU cut-off mark for Microbiology: a science route into laboratory and public health work.
- MAU cut-off mark for Biochemistry: strong base for postgraduate health and research careers.
None of these makes you a nurse. If nursing itself is the goal, pick a university or college that the NMCN list shows as approved, even if it means leaving MAU.
Other nursing routes in Adamawa State
| Institution | NMCN December 2025 status | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| College of Nursing Science, Adamawa State | Nursing, Community Nursing, Midwifery and Community Midwifery listed as Full (December 2023) | Current admission notice and entry route |
| College of Nursing Sciences, MAU Teaching Hospital, Yola | Nursing and Midwifery Provisional (August 2024); some post-basic programmes listed | Whether provisional approval has been renewed; entry route |
| Adamawa State University, Mubi | Not on the NMCN list; no Nursing on ADSU’s 2026/2027 cut-off list | Not an option for nursing at present |
Rules for nursing colleges have changed in recent years, and many now admit through JAMB and CAPS. Ask the college what you need to register on JAMB before its form opens.
How MAU admission works (for whichever course you choose)
Whatever course you pick at MAU, the 2026/2027 process followed the same pattern. Here is what MAU’s notices said.
| Detail | What MAU’s notices say |
|---|---|
| Who could register | Candidates who chose MAU first in the 2026 UTME or Direct Entry and scored 160 or more; others could change to MAU at a JAMB office or CBT centre first |
| Minimum UTME score | 160 (MAU), above JAMB’s national 150 |
| 2026/2027 registration window | Monday 20 July to Monday 31 August 2026 (closed) |
| 2026/2027 fee | Not stated in the reprint we found |
| Last published fee | ₦2,000 plus Remita charges (2025/2026 notice) |
| Portal used in 2025 | mau_postutme.admissions.cloud, also reached from mau.edu.ng under Undergraduate Admissions |
| O’level | Best five subjects, at most two sittings, entered on the MAU form and uploaded on the JAMB portal |
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME correctly: pick your course with the UTME subjects JAMB lists for it, and put Modibbo Adama University, Yola as your first choice. If you chose another school, do a JAMB change of institution before MAU’s screening opens.
- Upload your O’level to JAMB: go to a JAMB accredited centre and have your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result uploaded so it shows on CAPS. MAU’s notice also asks you to upload it on the JAMB portal.
- Register for MAU screening: when the notice comes out, open the admissions portal from mau.edu.ng, verify your JAMB registration number, create an account and confirm your email.
- Pay and fill the form: generate a Remita RRR and pay (₦2,000 in 2025), then upload a passport photo (150 kb or less) and signature, enter your best five O’level subjects with the result checker details, add next of kin, and upload your O’level result, indigene form and birth certificate.
- Print your slip: print the acknowledgement slip and keep it for clearance.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Accept or reject the offer. JAMB gives four weeks to accept.
- Pay acceptance and clear: MAU has not published its acceptance fee in any source we reached, so pay only through the invoice on the MAU portal after your CAPS offer shows.
Warning
If someone sells you an “MAU Nursing Science form” or promises a nursing slot at MAU, walk away. A course that is not on JAMB’s list for MAU cannot be offered on CAPS, and every genuine MAU payment is made through the Remita invoice on its own portal.
Myschool reported around 3 October 2026 that MAU’s 2026/2027 admission list was out on JAMB CAPS. JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for public universities to finish admissions; that date has now passed. If you applied this year, your CAPS page shows the final result. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
Mistakes nursing applicants make with MAU
- Choosing Nursing under MAU on JAMB: it is not on MAU’s JAMB list, so the choice cannot lead to an MAU nursing offer.
- Mixing up MAU and MAUTH: the teaching hospital’s nursing college is a separate institution with its own admissions.
- Relying on Wikipedia alone: a department listed there is not proof that it admits students.
- Skipping the NMCN check: a nursing qualification is only useful if the NMCN recognises the school.
- Dropping Physics: most nursing degrees need it in the UTME.
If you are planning for 2027, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and, if you already registered with the wrong choice, JAMB change of course.
MAU Nursing Science: frequently asked questions
Does MAUTECH offer Nursing in 2026/2027? No evidence shows it. Nursing Science is not on JAMB’s course list for MAU, and the NMCN does not list an MAU nursing degree.
What is the cut-off mark for Nursing in MAU? There is none, because MAU did not admit into Nursing Science through the UTME in 2026/2027. MAU’s general screening minimum was 160.
Is the MAU Teaching Hospital School of Nursing the same as MAU Nursing? No. The College of Nursing Sciences at MAUTH, Yola is a hospital-based college on the NMCN list (provisional from August 2024); it is not the MAU B.N.Sc. degree.
Which course can I study at MAU instead of Nursing? Medicine and Surgery and Medical Laboratory Science are the health courses on JAMB’s list for MAU; Microbiology and Biochemistry are science alternatives.

The course check uses Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s course list for MAUTECH, checked on 3 November 2026. The nursing school entries and statuses come from the NMCN list of approved nursing schools (December 2025). The statement that MAUTECH does not offer Nursing Science is from Studentship (reply dated 6 March 2025), and the older course list is Studentship’s MAUTECH course list (updated 8 March 2024). The NUC check uses the NUC Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025. The “Nursing” department listing is from Wikipedia’s article on the university. The teaching hospital upgrade is from Wikipedia’s Federal Medical Centre, Yola article, which cites Vanguard (17 May 2022). ADSU’s position is from its official 2026/2027 cut-off list. The 160 minimum and the screening window come from Myschool’s reprint of MAU’s 2026/2027 notice (15 July 2026), and the 2025/2026 fee, portal and form steps from Studentship’s reprint. The 150 national minimum, the 31 October 2026 deadline and the four-week acceptance window are from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). Checked on 3 November 2026.
