Spiritan University Cut-Off Mark for Computer Science 2027/2028: Requirements, Subject Combination and Screening

Spiritan University admits Computer Science candidates from JAMB’s 150 minimum and publishes no departmental cut-off. See the safe target, JAMB subjects, O’level and Direct Entry rules, how to apply and the accreditation position.

The Spiritan University cut-off mark for Computer Science is 150 in the UTME. That is JAMB’s minimum for universities in the 2026/2027 admission cycle, and Spiritan University, Nneochi asks every applicant for “at least the National Cutoff Score” without setting a higher figure for any course. No separate Computer Science cut-off has ever been published.

2027/2028 update: Spiritan University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

A score of 150 makes you eligible. The rest of your file decides the place: Physics in your UTME, a Physics credit in your O’level, results uploaded to CAPS and a completed Spiritan application. Below you will find the official figures, a safe target score, the exact JAMB course name, the subject rules from the JAMB brochure, how Spiritan takes applications, a worked example and what is known about accreditation.

Spiritan has always followed the national floor for its science courses. In 2024 it set 140 for every course except Law; when JAMB raised the university minimum to 150 for 2025/2026 and kept it for 2026/2027, Spiritan’s page moved to the national figure. If the 2027 policy meeting changes the minimum, expect Spiritan to follow.

Safe target score for Computer Science at Spiritan (my advice)

Spiritan has not released applicant numbers or a merit list for any science course, so this section is my judgement as an admissions adviser. It is based on how small private universities in the South-East usually fill their places, and it is labelled as advice for that reason.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Spiritan Computer Science
Below 150Not eligible for any 2026/2027 university place, Spiritan included
150 to 169Eligible. A place is realistic if your Physics and Mathematics credits are complete and you apply early
170 to 199Comfortable for Spiritan, with room to spare if the university raises its bar again
200 and aboveStrong. You can also compete for Physics and Mathematics at public universities

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for 180 or more. Computer Science is the most requested science course at most Nigerian universities, and 180 keeps it open elsewhere if fees or family plans change. At Spiritan itself, 160 with clean O’level results should be competitive.

Spiritan Computer Science subject combination and O’level requirements

I checked Computer Science on Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure. Spiritan has no institution-specific remark on that page, so the general JAMB rules apply. Spiritan’s own admissions page adds two rules for every programme: credits in English Language and Mathematics are compulsory, and results can come from no more than two sittings.

RequirementComputer Science at Spiritan
Course name on JAMBComputer Science (under Spiritan University, listed as SPIRITAN-ENU)
UTME subjectsUse of English, Mathematics, Physics, and one of Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Economics or Geography
O’level creditsFive credits including English Language, Mathematics and Physics, plus two other science subjects
SittingsNot more than two (WASSCE, SSCE or NECO)
Direct EntryTwo A level passes in science subjects including Mathematics, or NCE merit in Mathematics and one other Science or Social Science subject
Spiritan remark in the brochureNone

Points Computer Science applicants get wrong

  • Leaving out Physics: Physics is compulsory in both the UTME and the O’level for Computer Science. Computer Studies does not replace it.
  • Picking a different Computer Science course on JAMB: the brochure has several look-alikes, such as Computer Science and Information Technology, or Education and Computer Science. Spiritan’s list carries plain Computer Science.
  • Counting Further Mathematics or Computer Studies as a required credit: a few universities ask for them, but the general rule only needs two other science subjects. Chemistry and Biology are the safest picks.
  • A pass in English: some universities accept it under special remarks. Spiritan does not; it lists English as a compulsory credit.

Direct Entry into Computer Science

The general rule is two A level passes in science subjects with Mathematics as one of them, or an NCE merit in Mathematics plus another Science or Social Science subject. The brochure’s ND and HND routes are tied to named universities, and Spiritan is not among them, so call the Registrar before buying a DE form with an ND in Computer Science. You still need the five O’level credits above, and DE students normally start at 200 level.

How Spiritan screens Computer Science applicants

Spiritan does not run the big Post-UTME portal you see at federal and state universities. Its 2026/2027 admissions page, signed by the Ag. Registrar, says admission is in progress and offers two routes: an online application form linked from that page, or a paper form bought at one of thirteen sales points in six states and Abuja. Candidates who did not pick Spiritan on JAMB can still apply; a July 2025 university notice told them to do a change of institution straight away.

The admissions page does not describe a written test, an interview format, an aggregate formula or the price of the form. When Spiritan last described its screening documents (a 2021/2022 notice reprinted by Myschool), candidates were told to bring the JAMB result slip with photograph, their subject combination, O’level results and, for non-choice candidates, the change of institution printout. Call the Registrar’s line, 0703 986 5805, to ask what this year’s screening involves.

One small oddity: the requirements text on the 2026/2027 page still says “National Cutoff Score in the 2025/2026 UTME”. JAMB set 150 in both years, so read it as the current minimum.

Worked example for Computer Science candidates

Spiritan has not published a screening formula, so the useful check is simple: your score against the 150 minimum and my safe target, then your UTME subjects and O’level credits against the brochure.

Chidera scored 172. She sat English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. In one WAEC sitting she has C5 in English, B3 in Mathematics, C4 in Physics, C6 in Chemistry and B3 in Biology.

  1. Eligibility: 172 minus 150 = 22. She clears the minimum by 22 marks.
  2. Against my safe target: 180 minus 172 = 8. She is close, and at Spiritan her score is not the problem.
  3. UTME subjects: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Chemistry is one of the allowed fourth subjects, so the combination matches.
  4. O’level: English, Mathematics and Physics are all credits, plus Chemistry and Biology as the two other sciences. One sitting. She qualifies.

Tobenna scored 195 but sat Mathematics, Economics and Government with English, and has D7 in Physics. His score is higher than Chidera’s, yet he fails twice: no Physics in the UTME and no Physics credit. He should rewrite Physics in a NECO or WAEC GCE sitting and register Physics in the 2027 UTME.

How to apply for Computer Science at Spiritan, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number linked to your NIN. You need the code to buy the UTME e-PIN.
  2. Register the right course: choose Computer Science under Spiritan University with Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry (or Biology, Agricultural Science, Economics or Geography). If Spiritan was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution before you apply.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: visit a JAMB-accredited CBT centre with your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB details. Spiritan can only see results that JAMB holds.
  4. Fill the Spiritan form: use the “Click Here to Apply” link on the Spiritan admissions page or buy a paper form at a sales point. The form price is not published, so confirm it on 0703 986 5805 before paying.
  5. Attend screening: bring originals of your JAMB result slip, O’level results and change of institution printout if you have one.
  6. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. JAMB gives four weeks to accept. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  7. Pay acceptance and register: a 2022 blog report put the acceptance fee at ₦20,000. Spiritan has not published a current figure, so confirm with the bursary before you pay.

Warning

Spiritan’s form link sits on its own admissions page and paper forms are sold at named Spiritan parishes and schools. Do not pay anyone who promises a guaranteed place. An offer that does not appear on JAMB CAPS is not a real admission, and admissions done outside CAPS are illegal.

If you wrote the 2026 UTME and still want a 2026/2027 place, move now. JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for private universities such as Spiritan (public universities had until 31 October 2026), and offers not accepted on CAPS within the window lapse.

Studying Computer Science at Spiritan University

Computer Science is a four-year B.Sc. programme in the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences for UTME entrants. It was one of the ten programmes Spiritan presented for its first NUC accreditation visit in January 2022, so it has run since the university’s early sessions.

What you study

  • 100 level: introduction to computing, elementary mathematics, physics, and the general studies courses every Spiritan student takes.
  • Programming: structured programming, object-oriented programming and data structures, usually in languages such as Python, C++ or Java.
  • Core theory: algorithms, discrete mathematics, computer architecture, operating systems and theory of computation.
  • Applied areas: databases, networking, software engineering, web development and information security.
  • Final years: industrial training (SIWES), electives and a final-year project.

This is the usual shape of a Nigerian B.Sc. Computer Science. Spiritan has not put a course list online, so ask the department for its current handbook.

Is Computer Science at Spiritan University accredited?

Computer Science was one of the ten programmes Spiritan presented for its first NUC accreditation exercise. The university’s own report says NUC panels visited from 19 to 29 January 2022, as part of the October/November 2021 round. Myschool reported on 9 May 2022 that seven of the ten earned full accreditation and three got interim status.

Neither source said which three were interim. I could not read Spiritan’s line in NUC’s 2026 accreditation results document, and I found no NUC technical report naming Spiritan University’s Computer Science. NUC full accreditation normally runs five years and interim two, so the 2022 result is due for review. Ask the department for its current accreditation letter before you pay acceptance; a programme with expired or denied accreditation cannot admit new students.

Careers

Computer Science graduates work as software developers, data and business analysts, network and systems administrators, IT support officers, cybersecurity analysts and teachers of computing. Many build a portfolio of projects during school, because employers in Nigeria’s tech sector often weigh what you can show over where you studied. Professional bodies include the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN).

About Spiritan University, Nneochi

Spiritan University is a private Catholic university owned by the Congregation of the Holy Spirit (the Spiritans), Province of Nigeria South-East. The Federal Executive Council approved it on 6 December 2017 and lectures began in the 2018/2019 session. The campus is on Ajali-Ihube-Lomara Road, Nneato-Isuochi, in Umunneochi LGA, a rural corner of Abia State near the Enugu and Anambra borders.

Its 2026/2027 admissions page lists Computer Science in the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, beside Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry and the other science programmes. The university also lists two new faculties, Law and Allied Health and Basic Medical Sciences; Spiritan is not on the Council of Legal Education’s August 2026 list of universities approved for Law, so check that carefully if Law interests you.

Mathematics and Physics share the same Mathematics and Physics core, so they are sensible second options if Computer Science fills up. For revision, our JAMB Chemistry syllabus helps if Chemistry is your fourth subject, and after the exam read how to check your JAMB result.

Mistakes that cost Computer Science applicants a Spiritan place

  • No Physics credit: no UTME score makes up for it.
  • Waiting for a big Post-UTME portal: Spiritan takes applications through its own form, and the session can close while you wait.
  • Leaving another school as your choice: Spiritan can only offer you a place on CAPS if it is your institution on JAMB.
  • O’level not on CAPS: a result JAMB has not received does not exist for admission purposes.
  • Stopping at CAPS acceptance: the acceptance fee and physical clearance in Nneochi are separate steps.

Planning for 2027? Read when JAMB 2027 registration starts, and keep JAMB change of course in mind if you registered the wrong combination.

Spiritan University cut-off mark for Computer Science: FAQs

Is 150 enough for Computer Science in Spiritan University? Yes. 150 meets the minimum Spiritan uses for 2026/2027, provided your UTME subjects and O’level credits are complete. I would still aim for 180 in 2027 so other universities stay open.

Can I study Computer Science at Spiritan without Physics? No. The JAMB brochure makes Physics compulsory in the UTME and as an O’level credit, and Spiritan has no remark that waives it.

Does Spiritan accept two sittings for Computer Science? Yes. Its admissions page accepts five credits from no more than two sittings, with English and Mathematics compulsory.

Is Computer Science at Spiritan University accredited by NUC? It was among ten programmes NUC visited in January 2022, when seven earned full and three interim accreditation. The grade for Computer Science was not published, so ask the department for its current letter.

Sources and updates

The 2026/2027 admission status, the O’level rule (five credits, no more than two sittings, English and Mathematics compulsory), the application routes, sales points, programme list and phone numbers come from Spiritan University’s admissions page, as read on 29 October 2026.
