There is no IMT Artificial Intelligence cut off mark yet. The Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, named Artificial Intelligence among eight new programmes in June 2026, but the course is not on IMT’s list in JAMB’s brochure, so a UTME candidate cannot choose it for IMT today. JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics is 100 for 2026/2027, and that is the floor that will apply when IMT lists it.
2027/2028 update: IMT cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
The national picture is moving fast. NBTE unveiled a standalone National Diploma curriculum in Artificial Intelligence in August 2026, and some polytechnics have started announcing ND AI approvals. IMT has not said whether its course is an ND, an HND or when the first intake starts. For the 2027 UTME, the safe plan is Computer Science at IMT. This page sets out the evidence, the figures that apply, the alternatives with their subjects and my safe targets, the CAPS steps and what an AI diploma covers.
IMT Artificial Intelligence cut off mark: quick answers
| Question | Answer | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Is Artificial Intelligence on IMT’s JAMB list? | No. It is not among the 35 IMT courses on Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s brochure | Checked 29 October 2026; confirm on your e-brochure |
| Has IMT announced it? | Yes, as one of eight new programmes; level and start date not stated | BusinessDay, 13 June 2026 |
| Is there a national ND AI curriculum? | Yes. NBTE unveiled a standalone ND curriculum in AI | NAN, 6 August 2026 |
| JAMB minimum for any IMT ND course | 100 | Official (JAMB 2026 policy meeting, reported by NAN) |
| IMT departmental cut-off | Not published for any ND course | No IMT figure for 2025/2026 or 2026/2027 |
| Best UTME choice at IMT today | Computer Science | My advice |
Does IMT offer Artificial Intelligence through JAMB?
Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s brochure lists 35 entries for IMT Enugu. Computer Science is there; Artificial Intelligence is not. The only IMT source for the course is the Rector’s June 2026 speech, reported by BusinessDay, which named it with Taxation, Locomotive Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security and a Diploma in Law among eight new programmes, without a level or start date.
NBTE’s Executive Secretary, Prof. Idris Bugaje, unveiled the ND AI curriculum in Abuja in August 2026. According to NAN, lecturers at institutions planning to offer it must first complete a five-day NBTE training. In September 2026 Myschool reported that Federal Polytechnic Ugep had secured an ND in Artificial Intelligence, with 100 as the minimum JAMB score. I found no similar notice for IMT.
| Source | What it shows | Status |
|---|---|---|
| BusinessDay, 13 June 2026 (Rector’s speech) | Artificial Intelligence named among eight new programmes; level and start not given | Announcement only |
| Myschool reprint of JAMB brochure, IMT Enugu course list | 35 entries; no Artificial Intelligence | Checked 29 October 2026 |
| NAN, 6 August 2026 | NBTE unveils standalone ND curriculum in AI; lecturer training required before a school starts | News report of NBTE event |
| Myschool news, 8 September 2026 | Federal Polytechnic Ugep secures ND Artificial Intelligence | News report; not about IMT |
| IMT 2026/2027 ND and HND admission call | Title linked on imt.edu.ng; course list inside not seen | Could not be opened |
So IMT has announced the course, but no UTME candidate can choose it for IMT yet. If your JAMB e-brochure shows Artificial Intelligence under IMT Enugu when you register for 2027, that overrides this page.
IMT cut-off mark history that applies to Artificial Intelligence applicants
IMT does not publish course-by-course ND cut-off marks. These are the figures that govern any ND course you pick at IMT, plus the old IMT figure blogs keep reprinting.
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics | Official (NAN, 11 May 2026) |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics | Official (Nairametrics and Channels TV, 8 July 2025) |
| 2023 UTME | 120 | IMT’s own ND screening threshold in a 2023 notice | Old; reprinted on blogs under 2026 headings |
No 2026 IMT notice repeats the 120, so do not plan with it. What has held for two sessions is JAMB’s 100. When IMT does list Artificial Intelligence for UTME entry, that same 100 will be the legal floor, and IMT may set its own figure above it.
How to study AI if IMT is your target
AI at diploma level rests on programming, mathematics and data, which is most of what ND Computer Science already teaches. That is why Computer Science is my first choice at IMT while you wait for the AI course to be listed.
| Route | How it works | My view |
|---|---|---|
| ND Computer Science at IMT | Programming, data structures, databases and statistics | My first choice |
| ND Electrical/Electronics or Mechatronics at IMT | Hardware, control and robotics, the physical side of AI systems | Good if robotics interests you more than software |
| ND Artificial Intelligence at another polytechnic | Federal Polytechnic Ugep was reported to have one in September 2026; check each school’s list on your e-brochure | Works if you can study outside Enugu |
| A university degree in AI | Blueprint and AllAfrica reported in July 2026 that NUC approved an AI degree for ESUT in Enugu; universities need at least 150 in the UTME (2026) | A longer route; check ESUT’s own list before choosing it |
IMT courses to choose instead in the UTME, with subjects and safe targets
These IMT ND courses do appear on the JAMB brochure list for IMT and sit closest to Artificial Intelligence. The subjects come from Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s brochure, checked on 29 October 2026; the safe targets are my advice, not IMT rules.
| IMT ND course | UTME subjects (with Use of English) | My safe target |
|---|---|---|
| Computer Science | Mathematics, Physics and one of Chemistry, Economics or Geography (IMT requires Physics) | 150 or higher; 170 is comfortable |
| Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology | Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry (IMT also accepts Biology) | 150 or higher; 170 is comfortable |
| Mechatronics Engineering Technology | Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics or Technical Drawing | 140 or higher; 160 is comfortable |
If your score is under 140, Mechatronics is easier to get into than Computer Science, in my reading, and its control and programming courses connect to robotics. For the closest match to AI, Computer Science is the one I would pick.
O’level for these courses
Computer Science is different. The brochure asks for five credits including Mathematics and a basic science, and makes English Language and Physics compulsory, but it notes that IMT accepts a pass in Physics at O’level. Physics is still required in the UTME for IMT.
For Electrical/Electronics and Mechatronics, JAMB’s brochure asks for five O’level credits: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, plus two more from a list that includes Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics, Economics and English Language, with a credit in English Language required.
If you register English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in the UTME and hold credits in those four plus one more science subject, you meet the subject rules for all three courses in the table. Further Mathematics is the extra credit I would most like to see from anyone aiming at AI.
How IMT screening works for ND science and engineering courses
IMT’s website links a notice titled “Call for 2026/2027 admission into ND and HND programs (regular and part-time)”, and applications run through the SLMS application page on portal.imt.edu.ng. The 2026/2027 screening fee, dates and test format were not in any official source I could open.
| Detail | What we know | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Where | portal.imt.edu.ng (SLMS Application) | Confirmed link on imt.edu.ng |
| Screening fee | ₦2,000 in earlier years | Reported by blogs; not dated 2026, confirm on the portal |
| Payment | Interswitch, Enugu State IGR or Quickteller in earlier years | Reported; confirm on the portal |
| Format | Computer-based screening plus O’level upload in earlier years | Reported; IMT has not published the 2026/2027 format |
| Admission deadline for polytechnics | 31 December 2026 | Official (JAMB, via NAN) |
| Time to accept an offer on CAPS | Four weeks | Official (JAMB, via NAN) |
| HND form | ₦5,000 in earlier years; relevant ND with CGPA of at least 2.50 | Reported in reprinted IMT HND notices; confirm on the portal |
Worked example
Take Chinonso, who wants to study AI. He scored 162 in English, Mathematics, Physics and Economics and has credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Economics and Further Mathematics from one WAEC sitting.
- Course check: Artificial Intelligence is not on IMT’s JAMB list, so CAPS cannot offer it at IMT.
- Pick a route: he chooses Computer Science at IMT. His subjects include Physics, which IMT requires.
- Against my safe target: 162 minus 150 = 12. He is in the competitive band.
- O’level: English, Mathematics, Physics, Economics and Further Mathematics make five credits with a basic science.
- Later: he takes every programming and statistics elective he can, and asks IMT whether its AI course will run at HND level for ND Computer Science graduates.
How to apply to IMT for the 2027 intake, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Check the IMT course list: during registration, open the IMT Enugu list on JAMB’s e-brochure. If Artificial Intelligence is not there, choose Computer Science instead.
- Register for the UTME: Choose Computer Science with English, Mathematics, Physics and one of Chemistry, Economics or Geography (or an engineering course with English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry), and pick IMT Enugu as your polytechnic choice. If you picked another school first, a JAMB change of institution is possible before IMT screening closes, and a JAMB change of course fixes a wrong course.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: go to an accredited CBT centre and have your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result uploaded. If your result was awaiting at registration, upload it as soon as it is out.
- Fill IMT’s screening form: when the admission call appears on imt.edu.ng, apply on portal.imt.edu.ng, enter your JAMB registration number, pay through the channel the portal names and print your slip.
- Check your result and CAPS: use the result checker on the IMT portal, then log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status and open CAPS.
- Accept within four weeks: JAMB set four weeks for 2026 offers. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains every status you might see.
- Pay acceptance and clear: blogs put IMT’s acceptance fee at ₦25,000, but IMT has not published it in any source I reached. Pay only against an invoice from the IMT portal.
Warning
Anyone offering “IMT Artificial Intelligence admission” before the course appears on IMT’s JAMB list is selling something outside the process. All offers appear on JAMB CAPS, and fees go only through invoices on portal.imt.edu.ng.
What Artificial Intelligence covers and where it leads
An AI diploma trains technicians to build and use systems that learn from data: chatbots, image recognition, recommendation tools and automation. NBTE’s Executive Secretary described AI as already a tool of today when he launched the ND curriculum. At ND level the work is practical, with heavy programming and data handling, and graduates would go on to an HND or a degree for deeper study.
What you study
- Programming: Python and other languages used for data and machine learning.
- Mathematics: statistics, probability, linear algebra and logic.
- Data: collecting, cleaning and storing data, and databases.
- Machine learning basics: training simple models and using AI tools responsibly.
- Practical work: projects and SIWES placement with an ICT or data team.
Accreditation
At IMT’s Global Homecoming on 13 June 2026, the Rector, Prof. Sunday Gozie Ogbodo, said all courses offered by IMT are now fully accredited, after more than 70% of programmes had lost accreditation by the time he took office in 2024. An NBTE accreditation team visited in November 2025. That statement covers courses IMT already runs. I found no NBTE approval notice naming Artificial Intelligence at IMT, so treat its accreditation as not confirmed until IMT or NBTE publishes it.

Mistakes to avoid
- Waiting for an AI cut-off that does not exist: IMT has no UTME entry for it yet.
- Picking a course JAMB does not list for IMT: CAPS can only offer what IMT has on the brochure.
- Registering Computer Science without Physics: IMT requires Physics in the UTME for Computer Science.
- Planning with the old 120: that is a 2023 IMT figure for ND courses.
- Paying agents: offers come only through CAPS.
