Gregory University Business Education Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

Gregory University has no separate Business Education cut-off; JAMB’s 150 floor applies and 160 is a safe target. Mathematics and Economics are compulsory in the UTME, and NUC accreditation for the course is not confirmed.

The Gregory University Business Education cut off mark is not published as a separate figure. Gregory used 140 as its general minimum UTME score in the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 notices, but JAMB’s minimum for universities in 2026 is 150, so 150 is the floor and about 160 is a comfortable target. Business Education is on JAMB’s list of Gregory courses under that exact name, Business Education. The UTME rule for it surprises many candidates: Mathematics and Economics are compulsory, and Commerce or Principles of Accounts cannot be your third subject under JAMB’s general line.

2027/2028 update: Gregory University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest notices Gregory has published (2024/2025 and 2025/2026) and JAMB’s 2026 national minimum, because no 2026/2027 Gregory notice with a score was available. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

I could not find an NUC accreditation result for Gregory’s Business Education programme: there is no NUC report page for it, and Gregory’s section of NUC’s results publication would not load. Ask the College of Education for its NUC letter before you pay. Two alternatives have confirmed results. Abia State University’s Business Education has full accreditation with a maturity date of 2027 in NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025. At Gregory itself, Accounting (92.50%) and Business Administration (92.00%) both received full accreditation after visits in late 2024, if you want a business degree without the teaching side.

Gregory has never published a separate figure for Business Education. The 140 in both notices covered every course. JAMB raised the floor for universities to 150 at its May 2026 policy meeting, so no university can admit a candidate below 150 in the 2026 cycle, and I would not expect the floor to fall back for 2027. Treat 150 as the line you must cross and anything above it as your margin.

Do you still need the UTME for Business Education in 2027?

Yes, for a degree. At its May 2026 policy meeting JAMB said education programmes were exempted from the UTME, according to TheNigeriaLawyer (11 May 2026). The Minister of Education explained that the exemption is for NCE candidates with at least four credits, who still register with JAMB and are admitted through CAPS at colleges of education. Gregory admits into a B.Sc (Ed) degree, and JAMB’s 150 minimum for universities covers it, so write the UTME and choose Gregory.

Safe target score for Business Education at Gregory (my advice)

Business Education is far less crowded than Accounting or Business Administration in the same university. Applicants who miss Accounting are often offered it. The bands below are my judgement, not a Gregory rule.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Gregory Business Education
Below 150Not eligible in the 2026 cycle
150 to 159Eligible; admission is possible if your O’level fits
160 to 179Good
180 and aboveStrong; you could also try Accounting or Business Administration

UTME subject combination and O’level for Gregory Business Education

RequirementBusiness Education
UTME subjectsUse of English, Mathematics, Economics and one of Literature in English, History, Government, Geography, Chemistry or Physics
My subject adviceEnglish, Mathematics, Economics and Government
O’levelFive credits (O’level, NTC/NBC or TC II merit) including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other Social Science or Arts subjects
SittingsNot more than two (Gregory’s 2025/2026 notice)
Direct EntryTwo A level passes or NCE merit in two relevant subjects, or NCE merit in Business Education (Double Major)
Gregory-specific remarkNone in the brochure reprint

These rules come from the JAMB brochure entry for Business Education as reprinted by Myschool. The general UTME line lists Mathematics, Economics and one of Literature, History, Government, Geography, Chemistry or Physics. Several universities add Commerce or Principles of Accounts through their own remarks (UNN, EBSU, UNIMAID and others), but Gregory has no remark. If you write Commerce as your third subject, you are outside JAMB’s general rule for Gregory. Government is the safest choice.

At O’level you need English, Mathematics and Economics, plus two other Social Science or Arts subjects. Commerce, Financial Accounting or Government all fit the last two slots. The brochure also accepts NTC and NBC credits from NABTEB and Teachers’ Grade II merit passes, which helps candidates from technical colleges and older teachers returning for a degree.

For Direct Entry, NCE holders in Business Education (Double Major) qualify under the general line, as do candidates with two A level passes or NCE merits in two relevant subjects. A remark on the page says ABSU and UNIBEN accept ND credit as well; Gregory is not named, so ask its admissions office whether it takes ND holders and at what level.

How Gregory University screening works for Business Education

Gregory runs an online post-UTME registration. The details below come from the university’s 2024 notice and the 2025/2026 notice as reprinted by Myschool. I could not find 2026/2027 dates or a new fee, so treat the fee as last year’s figure.

Worked example for a Business Education candidate

Gregory has not published how it ranks candidates, so there is no official aggregate to calculate. You can still check your margin above the floor and whether your O’level fits. The method below is my illustration, not a Gregory formula.

Take Obiageli, who scored 166 with English, Mathematics, Economics and Government, and has C5 in English, C6 in Mathematics, B3 in Economics, C4 in Commerce and B3 in Government from one sitting.

  1. National floor: 166 minus 150 = 16.
  2. Against my safe target: 166 minus 160 = 6. She is in the good band.
  3. O’level check: English, Mathematics and Economics are credits, with Commerce and Government as the other two. That meets the rule.
  4. What I would advise: register for screening early and keep Business Education as her course.

Kelechi scored 171 with English, Mathematics, Economics and Commerce. His score is fine, but Commerce is not on the general list of third subjects, and Gregory has no remark that adds it. He should contact Gregory before screening; if the university follows the general line strictly, he needs to rewrite the UTME with Government or another listed subject.

How to apply for Business Education at Gregory University, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME correctly: pick Business Education as the course and Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and Government (or another listed subject) as your subjects, with Gregory University, Uturu as your first choice.
  3. Fix your choice if needed: if Gregory was not your first choice, do a JAMB change of institution before you register for screening. The 2025/2026 notice was for candidates who chose Gregory first.
  4. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do this at a JAMB-accredited CBT centre once your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out. A university cannot recommend you on CAPS without it.
  5. Register for screening: on the Gregory post-UTME portal, fill the form, upload your passport photograph (PDF), UTME result and O’level result, then pay the screening fee online.
  6. Watch CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status and then Access my CAPS. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  7. Accept on CAPS: accept the offer, print your JAMB admission letter, then follow Gregory’s instructions for the acceptance fee and clearance. I did not find Gregory’s acceptance fee in any source, so confirm the amount on the official portal before paying.

Warning

Gregory University tells applicants to pay only through its official portals and says it has no authorised agents. Every genuine admission shows on JAMB CAPS, so ignore anyone selling a “slot” or a “special list”.

For the 2026/2027 cycle, JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the admission deadline for private universities, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). JAMB also said admissions done outside CAPS are illegal. The phone lines on Gregory’s 2024 admission notice were 0806 094 4681 and 0803 733 3920.

Studying Business Education at Gregory University

Gregory University is a private university licensed in 2012 and sited at Amaokwe Achara, Uturu, in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State. Its founder is Prof. Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe. The university lists twelve colleges on its website and says it runs over 55 programmes. A Voice of Nigeria report in September 2026 named Prof. Cele U. Njoku as Vice-Chancellor.

Business Education sits in Gregory’s College of Education. It trains teachers of business subjects for secondary schools and technical colleges, and many programmes let you lean towards accounting, office management or marketing. You also do teaching practice. A B.Sc (Ed) in Nigeria normally takes four years; Gregory has not published the duration. To teach in Nigerian schools after graduating, you register with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

NUC accreditation

NUC report pages name Gregory for English Language and Literature in English, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, International Relations, Insurance, Medical Laboratory Science and Health Education, all with full accreditation. None covers Business Education. This is what I could confirm:

Mistakes that cost Business Education applicants

  • Commerce or Accounts as the third UTME subject: JAMB’s general line does not list them and Gregory has no remark.
  • No Economics credit: it is in the O’level core.
  • Assuming the 2026 exemption covers degrees: it was for NCE; a B.Sc (Ed) still needs the UTME.
  • Planning with 140: JAMB’s 150 floor applies now.
  • Gregory not as first choice: fix it with a change of institution before screening.

If you missed out this year, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts.
