The Gregory University Biology Education cut off mark is not published as a separate figure. Gregory used 140 as its general minimum UTME score in the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 notices, but JAMB’s minimum for universities in 2026 is 150, so 150 is the floor and about 160 is a comfortable target. On JAMB’s list of Gregory courses the programme is called Education and Biology, so search for that name when you register; there is no entry called Biology Education.
2027/2028 update: Gregory University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest notices Gregory has published (2024/2025 and 2025/2026) and JAMB’s 2026 national minimum, because no 2026/2027 Gregory notice with a score was available. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
I could not find an NUC accreditation result for Gregory’s Biology Education programme: there is no NUC report page for it, and Gregory’s section of NUC’s results publication would not load. Gregory’s College of Education does have one confirmed result: Health Education received full accreditation with 78.4%. Be careful with the nearest state option. NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 shows Abia State University’s Education Biology programme with a latest result of Denied. So ask Gregory for its NUC letter before you pay, and if you want a confirmed alternative, look at Gregory’s fully accredited Health Education or take a B.Sc in Biology and add a postgraduate diploma in education later.

Gregory has never published a separate figure for Biology Education. The 140 in both notices covered every course. JAMB raised the floor for universities to 150 at its May 2026 policy meeting, so no university can admit a candidate below 150 in the 2026 cycle, and I would not expect the floor to fall back for 2027. Treat 150 as the line you must cross and anything above it as your margin.
Do you still need the UTME for Biology Education in 2027?
Yes, for a degree. At its May 2026 policy meeting JAMB said education programmes were exempted from the UTME, according to TheNigeriaLawyer (11 May 2026). The Minister of Education explained that the exemption is for NCE candidates with at least four credits, who still register with JAMB and are admitted through CAPS. That route leads to colleges of education. Gregory admits into a B.Sc (Ed) degree, and JAMB’s 150 minimum for universities covers it, so write the UTME and choose Gregory.
Safe target score for Biology Education at Gregory (my advice)
Education courses at private universities rarely fill up. Many applicants for Medicine or Nursing who miss out are offered a science or education course instead, so the real competition for Biology Education is light. The bands below are my judgement, not a Gregory rule.

The O’level and Direct Entry lines come from the JAMB brochure entry for Education and Biology as reprinted by Myschool. On that page the UTME heading is there but the subject line is empty, so I cannot quote it. JAMB’s usual combination for Biology Education is Biology plus two of Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics; check the subject screen on the JAMB e-brochure before you pay for registration. Taking Chemistry and Physics with Biology is the safest choice, because it fits Biology Education and every science course Gregory might offer you instead.
The O’level line is clear: English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics, plus one other subject. Physics or Agricultural Science makes a sensible fifth. Some universities on the page refuse Agricultural Science as the extra science (Bowen, for example); Gregory has no remark, but Physics avoids the question.
For Direct Entry, the general line accepts NCE or A level passes in Biology and one other science. That makes the course a natural step for NCE holders who studied Biology at a college of education. Gregory has not published its own DE rules or the level of entry, so ask the admissions office whether an NCE merit takes you to 200 level.
How Gregory University screening works for Biology Education
Gregory runs an online post-UTME registration. The details below come from the university’s 2024 notice and the 2025/2026 notice as reprinted by Myschool. I could not find 2026/2027 dates or a new fee, so treat the fee as last year’s figure.

Worked example for a Biology Education candidate
Gregory has not published how it ranks candidates, so there is no official aggregate to calculate. You can still check your margin above the floor and whether your O’level fits. The method below is my illustration, not a Gregory formula.
Take Adaeze, who scored 158 with English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and has C4 in English, C6 in Mathematics, B2 in Biology, C5 in Chemistry and C6 in Physics from two sittings.
- National floor: 158 minus 150 = 8.
- Against my safe target: 158 minus 160 = minus 2. She is just under my comfortable line but eligible.
- O’level check: English, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics are all credits. Two sittings are allowed.
- What I would advise: register for screening early, and upload her O’level to CAPS quickly so the university can recommend her.
Chinedu, an NCE holder with a merit in Biology and Integrated Science, wants Direct Entry. The general DE line accepts NCE in Biology and one other science, so he qualifies on paper. He still needs a JAMB DE registration with Gregory as his choice, and he should confirm with Gregory which level he will enter.
How to apply for Biology Education at Gregory University, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME correctly: pick Education and Biology as the course and Use of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics (or Mathematics) as your subjects, with Gregory University, Uturu as your first choice.
- Fix your choice if needed: if Gregory was not your first choice, do a JAMB change of institution before you register for screening. The 2025/2026 notice was for candidates who chose Gregory first.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do this at a JAMB-accredited CBT centre once your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out. A university cannot recommend you on CAPS without it.
- Register for screening: on the Gregory post-UTME portal, fill the form, upload your passport photograph (PDF), UTME result and O’level result, then pay the screening fee online.
- Watch CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status and then Access my CAPS. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Accept on CAPS: accept the offer, print your JAMB admission letter, then follow Gregory’s instructions for the acceptance fee and clearance. I did not find Gregory’s acceptance fee in any source, so confirm the amount on the official portal before paying.
Warning
Gregory University tells applicants to pay only through its official portals and says it has no authorised agents. Every genuine admission shows on JAMB CAPS, so ignore anyone selling a “slot” or a “special list”.
For the 2026/2027 cycle, JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the admission deadline for private universities, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). JAMB also said admissions done outside CAPS are illegal. The phone lines on Gregory’s 2024 admission notice were 0806 094 4681 and 0803 733 3920.
Studying Biology Education at Gregory University
Gregory University is a private university licensed in 2012 and sited at Amaokwe Achara, Uturu, in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State. Its founder is Prof. Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe. The university lists twelve colleges on its website and says it runs over 55 programmes. A Voice of Nigeria report in September 2026 named Prof. Cele U. Njoku as Vice-Chancellor.
Biology Education sits in Gregory’s College of Education. You study biology content alongside education courses, and you spend a period teaching in a school. A B.Sc (Ed) in Nigeria normally takes four years; Gregory has not published the duration. To teach in Nigerian schools after graduating, you register with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
NUC accreditation
NUC report pages name Gregory for English Language and Literature in English, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, International Relations, Insurance, Medical Laboratory Science and Health Education, all with full accreditation. Health Education is the one from the College of Education; its visit took place on “1st December” (the report gives no year), and NUC upheld full accreditation while asking the university to add new courses required by the new curriculum and to stop block marking. None of the pages covers Biology Education.
