FUAHSE Health Information Management Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

FUAHSE set 170 as the cut-off mark for Health Information Management. See the official list, a safe target, JAMB subjects, O’level rules, screening, CAPS steps, NUC approval and HRORBN.

The FUAHSE Health Information Management cut-off mark is 170 in the UTME. The Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Enugu (FUAHSE) listed the course as “Health information” in the 170 group of its official 2026/2027 UTME admission cut-off list, next to Speech Therapy and Community Health.

2027/2028 update: FUAHSE cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Unlike most of FUAHSE’s newer courses, Health Information Management (HIM) has a clear approval record. Where things stood on 30 October 2026:

  • FUAHSE’s own list: yes. Health Information Management is on the official 2026/2027 cut-off page at 170 (listed there as “Health information”).
  • NUC approval: yes. It was among the first 16 programmes FUAHSE announced as NUC-approved in December 2024, and it was in the 2025/2026 intake.
  • JAMB: partly confirmed. JAMB’s brochure has a complete entry called Health Information (the name FUAHSE uses on its cut-off page), while its Health Information Management entry is empty. I could not open JAMB’s list of FUAHSE courses.
  • Professional regulator: the Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria (HRORBN) regulates the profession. I found no HRORBN record naming FUAHSE.

For comparison in Enugu State, SUMAS Health Administration set 150 for 2026/2027. UNIMED in Ondo also has a Department of Health Information Management.

Warning

FUAHSE’s admissions page warns that fake admission information about the university is circulating on Facebook. Its official channels are fuahse.edu.ng/admissions and the e-portal at eportal.fuahse.edu.ng, and every genuine offer also shows on JAMB CAPS. Nobody can sell you a place, so don’t pay anyone who promises one.

HIM was in FUAHSE’s first intake in 2025/2026, but the university published no per-course cut-offs that year. So 170 in 2026/2027 is the first official figure. A 2027/2028 candidate would join the third intake of a programme that already has students.

Within the Faculty of Healthcare Management and Leadership, Social Work needs 200, Healthcare Management 180 and Health Information 170. All three were in the first 16 approvals. Social Work uses a social science combination, so HIM’s nearest swap inside the faculty is Healthcare Management.

Safe target score for Health Information Management at FUAHSE (my advice)

FUAHSE does not publish the score of its last admitted candidate. These ranges are my judgement.

Your UTME scoreMy read for FUAHSE Health Information Management
Below 170Not eligible; consider FUAHSE’s 150 courses or SUMAS
170 to 179Eligible, near the line
180 to 199Competitive
200 and aboveStrong

For the 2027 UTME, I would aim for at least 185, ideally 190. HIM is one of the lowest lines among FUAHSE’s approved health courses, so candidates who miss Nursing, Radiography or Medical Laboratory Science may be offered it, and they bring higher scores.

Catchment and quota

FUAHSE has not published a catchment list or a quota for HIM. Plan on merit.

UTME subject combination and O’level for FUAHSE Health Information Management

RequirementHealth Information (JAMB general entry)
UTME subjectsUse of English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology
O’levelFive credits: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, English Language
Direct Entry (JAMB brochure)Two A’level passes from Biology or Zoology, Chemistry and Physics, plus O’level credits in Mathematics, Physics and English; a second route lists an NRN or approved equivalent
Direct Entry (FUAHSE notice)ND, HND or first degree plus relevant O’level credits
SittingsNot stated by FUAHSE

This is JAMB’s entry for Health Information, reprinted by Myschool and read on 30 October 2026. It has no special remarks. The separate Health Information Management entry was empty when I checked. Some sites say HIM accepts “Physics or Mathematics” as the third subject; the JAMB entry I read lists Physics, Chemistry and Biology, so register those.

Course name to pick on JAMB: JAMB’s brochure lists this course as Health Information (with an empty Health Information Management entry), and FUAHSE’s cut-off page calls it Health information. I could not open JAMB’s own list of FUAHSE courses (the Myschool reprint would not load for me), so I can’t confirm that the course appears under FUAHSE on JAMB’s portal or exactly how it is spelt there. Because the course was in FUAHSE’s 2025/2026 intake through JAMB, it is very likely listed, but the spelling matters on CAPS. At registration, ask the centre to show FUAHSE’s course options on screen. If the course is not there, do not pick a look-alike; choose another course or school and plan a change of course once FUAHSE confirms the course is on JAMB’s list.

Direct Entry is where many HIM applicants come from, because schools of health information management run ND and HND programmes. FUAHSE’s notice accepted ND, HND and first-degree holders in general terms. Ask which level an ND or HND in Health Information Management would enter before you pay.

Worked example for an HIM candidate

FUAHSE has not published an aggregate formula, so compare your score with 170 and my safe target.

Take Somto, who scored 191 with B3 in English, B3 in Mathematics, C4 in Biology, C4 in Chemistry and C5 in Physics, all in one sitting.

  1. Eligibility: 191 minus 170 = 21. He clears the HIM cut-off by 21 marks.
  2. Against my safe target: 191 minus 185 = 6. He is in the competitive range.
  3. O’level check: five relevant credits in one sitting, uploaded to CAPS.
  4. Next step: he checks CAPS weekly after the screening and accepts promptly when the offer appears.

Amaka scored 168. 168 minus 170 = minus 2, so she misses HIM. She clears FUAHSE’s 150 courses and SUMAS’s 150 line.

How to apply for Health Information Management at FUAHSE, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register for the UTME: choose FUAHSE and the Health Information option listed under FUAHSE, with Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. If FUAHSE was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution before its screening form opens.
  3. Upload your O’level on CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre, early. Universities read your grades from CAPS.
  4. Fill the FUAHSE screening form: go to eportal.fuahse.edu.ng and open the Post-UTME application form for the session. UTME candidates enter their JAMB registration number; Direct Entry candidates start with a phone number. Blogs reported a fee of ₦2,000 for 2026/2027; the invoice the portal generates is what counts.
  5. Print your slip and keep checking: FUAHSE has not published whether it holds a test, so watch the portal and the official admissions page after you submit.
  6. Check your status: use FUAHSE’s admission status page and JAMB CAPS. An offer is only real once it appears on CAPS.
  7. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. JAMB gives candidates four weeks to accept or reject an offer.
  8. Pay acceptance and clear: FUAHSE has not published its acceptance fee in any source I reached. Pay only through an invoice generated on the FUAHSE e-portal, and keep every receipt for clearance.

FUAHSE is a federal university, so its 2026/2027 admissions fell under the deadline JAMB set for public universities. JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for public universities (News Agency of Nigeria, 11 May 2026). JAMB announces each year’s deadlines at its annual policy meeting, so the 2027/2028 date will come from the 2027 meeting. I found no report of when FUAHSE uploaded its 2026/2027 list. If you applied in 2026, CAPS is where your result shows, and our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.

Studying Health Information Management at FUAHSE

HIM sits in FUAHSE’s Faculty of Healthcare Management and Leadership with Healthcare Management and Social Work. FUAHSE’s own introduction page says the university was established on 14 March 2024 from the former Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy, has six faculties, and plans for its graduates to leave with a bachelor’s degree plus a professional diploma in an entrepreneurial venture. FUAHSE has not published the course duration; the B.HIM is usually a four-year degree in Nigeria, but confirm it with the department.

Is FUAHSE Health Information Management approved?

  • March 2024: the Federal Government approved the upgrade of the Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy, Trans-Ekulu, into FUAHSE.
  • October 2024: an NUC team began checking 18 of the 22 programmes FUAHSE’s Senate had approved for take-off in 2024/2025, using NUC’s Core Curriculum Minimum Academic Standards as the yardstick (The Sun, 31 October 2024).
  • December 2024: FUAHSE announced NUC approval for its first 16 degree programmes, and Health Information Management was on that list. The university’s own news page carries the list, and Journalist101 and Vanguard reported it on 19 December 2024.
  • May 2026: the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Emaimo, said NUC approval now covered 27 programmes: the original 16 plus 11 newer ones (The Sun, 9 May 2026).
  • 2026/2027: FUAHSE’s official cut-off list carries 28 courses, the original 16 plus 12 newer ones. That is one more than the 27 approvals the Vice-Chancellor described.

HIM has NUC approval to run. Approval is permission to start; accreditation is a later NUC visit that usually comes when the first students reach their final years. I found no NUC accreditation result for FUAHSE’s HIM yet, which is normal for a programme that started in 2025/2026.

HRORBN and your licence

Health records officers in Nigeria are registered by the Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria (HRORBN). The board takes an interest in degree programmes: in August 2025 its Registrar, with the practitioners’ association, urged Federal University Otuoke to start a degree in Health Information Management, and news reports describe HRORBN accreditation visits to university B.HIM programmes elsewhere. I found no HRORBN record that names FUAHSE, so ask the department when it expects the board’s accreditation visit.

What you study

  • Health records: creating, storing, retrieving and protecting patient records.
  • Clinical coding: classifying diseases and procedures with the WHO’s International Classification of Diseases.
  • Health statistics: hospital statistics, biostatistics and reporting.
  • Health informatics: electronic health records, databases and data security.
  • Management: running a records department, law and ethics, and supervised hospital placements.

That outline describes HIM training in general; FUAHSE has not released its own course list.

Careers

HIM graduates work in hospital records and health information departments, health insurance claims and coding, health data and monitoring roles in NGOs and government programmes, and health IT. Hospitals are moving to electronic records, and that work needs people who understand both records and data.

For UTME revision, start with our JAMB Biology syllabus and JAMB Chemistry syllabus, then read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and what to do with your JAMB score if you are planning a fresh attempt in 2027.

My view: for a South East candidate who wants health records and data, FUAHSE’s HIM is the clearest option, with federal fees, NUC approval and a 170 line. Ask about HRORBN before you accept. Our guide to JAMB change of institution helps if you need to move your application.

Mistakes that cost HIM applicants

  • Registering without Physics: JAMB’s Health Information entry lists Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  • Looking only for “Health Information Management” on JAMB: FUAHSE’s own page uses “Health information”, and so does JAMB’s complete entry.
  • Reading 150 as the course mark: 150 opened the form; HIM needed 170.
  • Paying an agent: FUAHSE says money for admission is forbidden, and every real offer shows on CAPS.
