The Fed Poly Ukana Civil Engineering Technology cut off mark is 100 in the UTME. Federal Polytechnic, Ukana asked for at least 100 in the 2026 UTME in its 2026/2027 ND screening notice. That matches JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics, and there is no separate published cut-off for Civil Engineering Technology.
2027/2028 update: Fed Poly Ukana cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
You can pick Civil Engineering Technology on your UTME profile: it appears on JAMB’s course list for Fed Poly Ukana and in the school’s own 2025/2026 ND admission notice, so it is an established course. This page covers the Civil Engineering Technology subject combination, O’level rules and screening, with my own safe target score and a worked example.

Fed Poly Ukana Civil Engineering Technology cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics | Official |
| 2026/2027 | 100 | Fed Poly Ukana ND screening notice: minimum UTME score for all ND applicants | Official (school notice, via Myschool) |

| Any year | None | A separate Fed Poly Ukana cut-off for Civil Engineering Technology | Never published in any source I found |
The numbers line up: JAMB’s polytechnic minimum was 100 in 2025 and 2026, and the 2026/2027 notice from Fed Poly Ukana used the same 100. A Civil Engineering Technology cut-off has never been published, so treat any figure you see quoted as a guess.
Safe target score for Civil Engineering Technology at Fed Poly Ukana (my advice)
I put this table together as an admissions adviser. Fed Poly Ukana has no such rule for Civil Engineering Technology, and it does not publish merit lists with scores.
| Your UTME score | My read for ND Civil Engineering Technology at Fed Poly Ukana |
|---|---|
| Below 100 | Not eligible for any ND course this session |
| 100 to 119 | Eligible, but borderline for a popular course |
| 120 to 139 | Fair chance, stronger with good O’level grades |
| 140 to 159 | Good chance; 150 is the score I would aim for |
| 160 and above | Strong |
My target for the 2027 UTME would be 150 or more, plus clean credits in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Scoring 100 only gets you screened. The margin above it helps when the Civil Engineering Technology department has more applicants than places.
Catchment and state of origin
Federal polytechnics like Fed Poly Ukana admit from every state. They usually spread places across merit, catchment area and educationally less developed states, but no split for ND places at Fed Poly Ukana has been published. Akwa Ibom indigenes applying for Civil Engineering Technology should not assume an automatic advantage; candidates from other states should not assume they start behind.
Fed Poly Ukana Civil Engineering Technology subject combination and O’level requirements
| Requirement | ND Civil Engineering Technology |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry |
| O’level | Credits in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, plus two from Biology/Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics/Basic Electricity, Auto Mechanics, Metal Work, Woodwork, Further Mathematics, English Language, Geography and Economics/Commerce |
| English Language | The brochure requires at least a credit in English Language |
| Brochure remark for Fed Poly Ukana | None found |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO or NABTEB (named in the school notice) |
| Sittings | Not more than two sittings (school notice) |
What I would register for the UTME: English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Our JAMB Chemistry syllabus will help you plan your revision.
For Civil Engineering Technology you need five O’level credits. Build them around Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and use any free slot for a subject that helps the course. The result you upload to JAMB CAPS should be the same one you present at screening, so the school and JAMB see the same grades.
Direct Entry and the HND route
There is no Direct Entry into ND year one, and ND Civil Engineering Technology admission runs through the UTME and CAPS only. Once you have the ND and the one-year industrial attachment, the HND application goes directly to the polytechnic, outside CAPS. Read our guide to Fed Poly Ukana HND admission requirements for the details.
How Fed Poly Ukana screening works
The 2026/2027 ND full-time screening at Fed Poly Ukana was announced in August 2026. The polytechnic’s own website would not open for me, so I used Myschool’s reprint of the notice, which cuts off partway through the list of documents to bring. Some details are missing as a result, for Civil Engineering Technology applicants as for everyone else.
| Detail | What the 2026/2027 notice says | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Who can apply | Candidates who chose Fed Poly Ukana and scored at least 100 in the 2026 UTME | Official |
| O’level | Five credits in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or equivalent, at not more than two sittings | Official |
| Form fee | ₦2,000 | Official |
| Where to apply | eportal.fedpolyukana.edu.ng (the application page of the school portal) | Official |
| Closing date | Not shown in the reprint | Check the portal |
| Test or document check | Not shown in the reprint, which breaks off at the instruction to bring original documents | Check the portal |
| Admission lists | First batch out by 11 September 2026; third batch reported on 26 October 2026 | Myschool reports |
Three batches have gone out and the 2026/2027 exercise is mostly at the acceptance stage. Later batches are still possible, because JAMB set 31 December 2026 as the deadline for polytechnics, so a 2026 UTME candidate who chose Fed Poly Ukana and has no offer should keep checking CAPS.
Worked example for an ND Civil Engineering Technology applicant
Take Ekong, who scored 153 in English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, with credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Technical Drawing from one sitting.
- Eligibility: 153 minus 100 = 53. Ekong is above the school minimum.
- Against my safe target: 153 minus 150 = 3. That is inside the range I would aim for.
- O’level check: all five credits come from one sitting and cover the core subjects for Civil Engineering Technology, so nothing needs fixing there.
- CAPS check: the same O’level result must be uploaded to JAMB CAPS, or no offer can be approved.
To see how a combined score could work for Civil Engineering Technology, take an illustration only (Fed Poly Ukana has published no formula). Many polytechnics rank by a mix of UTME and screening scores. Divide the UTME score by 8 to get a mark out of 50 and add a screening score out of 50: Ekong’s 153 gives 19.12, and a screening score of 30 brings the total to 49.12 out of 100. A candidate on 110 with the same screening score would reach 43.75.
Your chances of getting Civil Engineering Technology at Fed Poly Ukana
- Civil Engineering Technology is one of the busier engineering courses, so expect strong competition.
- A score in the 140s or above with credits in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry puts you in a good position.
- If CAPS offers you Building Technology, Quantity Surveying or Surveying instead, they all lead to construction work.
- In 2026 the ND lists came in batches, so missing the first Fed Poly Ukana list did not mean you had been turned down.
- JAMB gave polytechnics until 31 December 2026 to finish 2026/2027 admissions, so a Civil Engineering Technology offer can arrive late in the year.
How to apply for Civil Engineering Technology at Fed Poly Ukana, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and the 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the line your NIN is linked to.
- Register the right combination: select Federal Polytechnic, Ukana and Civil Engineering Technology under JAMB’s own course name, using the subjects shown above.
- Fix your choice if needed: if Fed Poly Ukana was not your choice, complete a JAMB change of institution before screening. To change into Civil Engineering Technology, see JAMB change of course.
- Get your O’level onto CAPS: go to an accredited JAMB centre and upload the result with your Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry credits. Until CAPS shows an O’level result, JAMB cannot approve an offer.
- Buy the screening form: visit eportal.fedpolyukana.edu.ng, open the ND application page, pay the ₦2,000 fee, fill it in and print your slip.
- Go to screening: the portal will say what the exercise involves. Take the slip, the UTME result slip and the original O’level result that shows your Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry credits.
- Accept on CAPS: sign in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer. The JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance, then clear: I could not find the Fed Poly Ukana acceptance fee in any source I reached. Use only an invoice generated on the school portal for payment, then clear with your printed JAMB admission letter.
Warning
A genuine Civil Engineering Technology offer from Fed Poly Ukana appears on your CAPS page, because admission comes through JAMB CAPS. Genuine school payments go through a portal invoice generated in your name. Walk away from anyone who offers a “special list” slot or a course change for money.

Studying Civil Engineering Technology at Fed Poly Ukana
ND Civil Engineering Technology sits in the School of Engineering Technology at Ukana, Essien Udim Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. It trains technicians who set out, build and test roads, drains, bridges and buildings.
What you study
Expect topics like these from the NBTE ND curriculum for Civil Engineering Technology. The department itself has not published a course list online.
- Engineering mathematics and engineering drawing
- Strength of materials and structural mechanics
- Construction materials and concrete technology
- Land surveying and setting out
- Soil mechanics, hydraulics and highway engineering basics

Duration and accreditation
ND Civil Engineering Technology follows the standard NBTE structure: two years full time, with a short SIWES placement built in. For the HND you then need the one-year industrial attachment and usually an ND with at least a Lower Credit. Fed Poly Ukana has not published a course-specific timetable, so this is the national pattern.
Civil Engineering Technology has NBTE approval from 2022: it was one of eight ND programmes approved at Fed Poly Ukana after the July 2022 resource inspection, with effect from the 2021/2022 session, according to The Will (10 August 2022). I found no later result. Ask the department whether full accreditation has happened since.
Careers after the ND
- Site technician or site supervisor with construction firms
- Soil and materials testing technician
- Technical officer in works ministries and local government works departments
- Assistant on road and drainage projects run by state and federal agencies
- HND Civil Engineering Technology, then registration with COREN as an engineering technologist (check COREN’s current rules)

Mistakes that cost Civil Engineering Technology applicants
- Registering Technical Drawing instead of Chemistry: the base UTME line is Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
- No credit in Chemistry or Physics: both are core O’level subjects.
- Forgetting the English credit: the brochure asks for at least a credit.
- O’level missing on CAPS: JAMB cannot approve an offer without it.
- Paying anyone outside the eportal: the ₦2,000 form is paid on eportal.fedpolyukana.edu.ng.
Fed Poly Ukana Civil Engineering Technology: frequently asked questions
What are the JAMB subjects for Civil Engineering in Fed Poly Ukana? Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. The brochure has no remark for this school that changes that.
Is Technical Drawing compulsory for Civil Engineering Technology? No. It is one of the optional O’level subjects. Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English Language are the credits you must have.
How much is the Fed Poly Ukana screening form? It cost ₦2,000 in 2026/2027, paid on eportal.fedpolyukana.edu.ng. The 2027/2028 price is not out yet; budget ₦2,000 until it is.
Is 135 enough for Civil Engineering Technology at Fed Poly Ukana? It is enough to apply, since the minimum is 100. To feel safe in Civil Engineering Technology I would want 150 or more, so at 135 your O’level result needs to be strong.
Sources and updates
JAMB’s 100 minimum for polytechnics and the 31 December 2026 closing date for admissions come from the News Agency of Nigeria report of JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting (11 May 2026). The 2025 minimum of 100 is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025), and Blueprint and AllAfrica reports match it. The 2022 NBTE approvals are from The Will (10 August 2022), and the location comes from the NBTE directory. Myschool reports (11 September, 26 October and 31 October 2026) are the source for the admission list dates. Myschool reprinted the school’s screening notice on 10 August 2026, and that is my source for the 2026/2027 entry requirements (minimum 100, five credits at not more than two sittings, ₦2,000 form, eportal). For the 2025/2026 course list I used Myschool’s reprint of that year’s ND notice (18 July 2025). Whether Civil Engineering Technology is on JAMB’s list was checked against the Myschool list of Fed Poly Ukana courses. Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s polytechnic brochure (ND Civil Engineering Technology brochure page) gives the UTME and O’level requirements. The worked example and the safe target scores are my own advice. Last checked 3 November 2026. When Fed Poly Ukana publishes its 2027/2028 notice, this page will be updated.
