The CCU Marketing cut-off mark is 150 in the UTME, the minimum JAMB fixed for all Nigerian universities at its 2026 policy meeting. Coal City University, Enugu has not published its own cut-off for Marketing and was not among the universities that declared a separate figure at that meeting. So 150 makes you eligible, and a higher “official CCU Marketing cut-off” on a blog is not from the university.
2027/2028 update: CCU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Marketing is on JAMB’s list for Coal City University under the name Marketing, and CCU names it among the programmes of its Faculty of Arts, Social and Management Sciences. Its NUC accreditation is a different story: Marketing does not appear under CCU in the NUC’s latest results publication, so I treat it as not confirmed and explain what to ask before paying. Below are the JAMB subjects, the O’level rule, screening, a safe target score and the CAPS steps.
CCU Marketing cut-off mark at a glance

CCU Marketing cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | JAMB national minimum for universities | Official (JAMB, 11 May 2026) |
| 2026/2027 | Not published | CCU’s own figure for Marketing | CCU did not declare one |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | JAMB national minimum for universities | Reported by Nairametrics, 8 July 2025 |
| 2025/2026 | Not published | CCU’s own figure | None found |
AbsTechConnect (25 May 2026) says CCU’s cut-off is 150, without a CCU source. It is the national minimum restated.
Safe target score for Marketing at CCU (my advice)
CCU does not publish the score of its last admitted Marketing candidate, so this is my judgement. Marketing draws fewer applicants than Accounting or Business Administration at most private universities in Enugu, which works in your favour if your O’level is in order.
| Your UTME score | My read for CCU Marketing |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible for any university this session |
| 150 to 164 | Eligible; a realistic chance with complete O’level and an early application |
| 165 to 184 | Comfortable for a private university |
| 185 and above | Strong |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 165. UNN and ESUT both screened Marketing candidates from 160 in 2026, so 165 keeps those doors open too.
UTME subject combination and O’level for Marketing at CCU
The JAMB brochure entry for Marketing (Myschool reprint of the management sciences entry, checked 30 October 2026) names about a dozen universities in its remarks but not Coal City University, so the general rule applies.
| Requirement | Marketing at CCU |
|---|---|
| JAMB course name to register | Marketing (Coal City University) |
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and one other relevant subject |
| O’level | Five credits including English Language, Mathematics and three relevant subjects |
| Economics at O’level | Not named in the general rule, but several universities in the remarks (ABU, EBSU, UNIPORT, DELSU and RSU) name it; get a credit |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO or NABTEB (CCU has not published its own list) |
| Direct Entry | Two A-level passes from Accounting, Management, Government or Geography |
Picking your fourth UTME subject
Mathematics and Economics are fixed. For the last slot, Government or Geography is what UNN and Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University ask for in their remarks, so either keeps the most doors open. Commerce or Principles of Accounts also count as relevant for CCU under the general rule if those are your stronger subjects.
The O’level gap that catches people
Marketing is a Mathematics course in disguise: pricing, market research and statistics all need it. A pass in Mathematics will stop you, whatever your UTME score. Commerce students sometimes have no Economics credit; the general rule does not name Economics, but I would not rely on that at CCU without written confirmation.
How CCU screening works for Marketing
| Detail | What is known |
|---|---|
| Admission advert | CCU invited applications into its undergraduate programmes for 2026/2027 (Myschool reprint of the notice, 18 May 2026). Marketing is among the programmes CCU lists for the Faculty of Arts, Social and Management Sciences. |
| Who could apply | UTME candidates, Direct Entry applicants and transfer students (AbsTechConnect, May 2026; unofficial) |
| Application portal | portal.ccu.edu.ng (the “Apply Now” link on ccu.edu.ng) |
| Form fee | ₦2,000 according to AbsTechConnect; CCU has not confirmed it in any notice I could open |
| Screening date and format | Not published |
| Aggregate formula | Not published |
| Other routes | CCU also advertises JUPEB, IJMB and pre-degree for 2026/2027 |
Worked example for a Marketing candidate
CCU has not published an aggregate formula or a screening test, so here are margins only.
Take Chidera, who scored 167 with English C4, Mathematics B3, Economics B2, Commerce B3 and Government C5 in one WAEC sitting.
- Eligibility: 167 minus 150 = 17 marks above the minimum.
- Against my safe target: 167 minus 165 = 2 marks above the range I suggest.
- O’level check: English and Mathematics credits, plus Economics, Commerce and Government as three relevant subjects. He meets the rule in one sitting.
- My advice: apply early, upload the result to CAPS, and ask the department about the programme’s NUC position before paying fees.
Now Amarachi, who scored 192 but has a D7 in Mathematics. Her score is 42 marks above the minimum, but without a Mathematics credit she does not meet the rule for Marketing. She needs a November resit or a course that does not demand Mathematics.
Admission odds and practical advice
- Your O’level decides more than your score: above 150, a complete set of credits and an early application carry most of the weight.
- Ask about accreditation: I could not confirm NUC accreditation for Marketing at CCU, so ask in writing before you pay school fees.
- Make CCU your first choice: if not, use a JAMB change of institution before CCU proposes candidates.
- Keep an accredited Plan B inside CCU: Business Administration and Accounting are listed as Full by the NUC to 2029, and Economics scored 97.60% at a December 2024 visit. All three use the same Mathematics and Economics base.
- Mind the 2026/2027 deadline: JAMB set 30 November 2026 for private universities to finish 2026/2027 admissions.
How to apply for Marketing at CCU, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME correctly: pick Coal City University and the course “Marketing”, with Use of English plus Mathematics, Economics and your fourth subject.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre once your result is out. CCU cannot recommend you without it, and awaiting-result candidates stay stuck until the upload is done.
- Apply on the CCU portal: open portal.ccu.edu.ng, fill the undergraduate form, pay the fee the portal shows and print your slip.
- Watch for screening: CCU has not published a screening date or format for this course, so check the portal and ccu.edu.ng after you apply.
- Accept on CAPS: log in to efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer. JAMB gives four weeks to accept. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and clear: CCU has not published its acceptance or tuition fees in any source I could open, so pay only what your portal invoice shows, through the channel on the portal.
Warning
Posts on forums and classified sites sell “CCU admission forms” and list private phone numbers. Apply only through portal.ccu.edu.ng, never pay an individual for a “slot”, and check that any offer shows on your JAMB CAPS page before you pay acceptance.
Studying Marketing at CCU
Marketing sits in CCU’s Faculty of Arts, Social and Management Sciences, set up in 2016 as one of the university’s foundation faculties. The dean, Professor Joseph I. Aneke, is a professor of insurance. CCU’s faculty page lists Marketing among fifteen programmes but does not include it in the shorter “Courses” section of eight degrees, and gives no start year for it.
Accreditation
The NUC’s “Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025” publication (September 2026) lists CCU’s Administration and Management programmes as Accounting (Full, 2029), Business Administration (Full, 2029) and Public Administration (Full, 2026). Marketing is not on CCU’s list, and I found no NUC accreditation report for it.
A programme that is missing from the list is usually too young for its first accreditation visit, which happens once the first set of students is well into the course. That is not proof of a problem, but it is not proof of approval either. Ask CCU for the programme’s NUC approval or accreditation status before you pay, and keep Business Administration in mind if you want a programme whose status is already published.
What you study
CCU has not published a Marketing course outline. The standard four-year B.Sc. Marketing in Nigeria covers:
- 100 level: principles of marketing, introduction to business, economics, business mathematics and general studies.
- 200 and 300 levels: consumer behaviour, marketing research, sales management, advertising and promotion, pricing, distribution and logistics, business statistics and a SIWES placement.
- 400 level: international marketing, digital marketing, strategic marketing, services marketing, electives and a project.
Careers
Marketing graduates work in sales, brand and product management, advertising and media buying, digital marketing and social media, market research and customer relations, across banks, telecoms, FMCG firms and agencies. Many also run their own businesses. Professional membership through the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria helps later in a career. From what I have seen, the graduates who stand out add digital marketing skills and a small portfolio of real campaigns while in school.

Mistakes that cost Marketing applicants a CCU place
- No Mathematics in the UTME: the brochure makes it compulsory, along with Economics.
- A pass in Mathematics at O’level: the rule needs a credit.
- O’level not on CAPS: CCU cannot recommend you without it.
- Registering “Business Administration and Marketing”: that is another school’s course name. At CCU it is “Marketing”. A JAMB change of course fixes a wrong choice.
- Paying agents: apply on the CCU portal only.
If you are writing the 2027 UTME, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts, then how to check your JAMB result when results come out.
CCU Marketing cut-off mark: frequently asked questions
Is 160 enough for Marketing at Coal City University? Yes. 160 is above the 150 minimum, and CCU has published no higher Marketing figure. Credits in English and Mathematics are what you need next.
What JAMB subjects are needed for Marketing at CCU? Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and one other relevant subject such as Government, Geography or Commerce. The brochure has no CCU exception.
Is Marketing at CCU accredited by NUC? I could not confirm it. Marketing is not listed under CCU in the NUC’s 1990 to 2025 results publication, so ask the university for its approval or accreditation status before you pay.
Can I switch from Marketing to Business Administration at CCU? You can register Business Administration instead through a JAMB change of course before admission. Both use the same Mathematics and Economics base, and Business Administration is listed as fully accredited to 2029.
Sources and updates
The 150 national minimum, the 30 November 2026 admission deadline JAMB set for private universities in the 2026/2027 cycle and the four-week CAPS acceptance window come from JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria on 11 May 2026; the 2025 figure is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025). CCU’s absence from the list of universities that declared their own 2026 cut-offs is based on News Central’s list (11 May 2026). The course name and subject rules come from Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s CCU course list and the JAMB brochure entry for Marketing, both checked on 30 October 2026. CCU’s programme lists, faculty history and dean are from its Faculty of Arts, Social and Management Sciences page and About CCU page. The accreditation position is from the NUC Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 publication, where CCU’s Administration and Management list has no Marketing entry, plus a search of NUC report pages; the Economics score is from the NUC report for CCU Economics. UNN and ESUT figures come from their 2026/2027 notices as covered in our linked guides. The 2026/2027 admission advert is from Myschool’s reprint (18 May 2026); the form fee and applicant groups are from AbsTechConnect (May 2026), which is unofficial. Checked on 30 October 2026. I will update this page if CCU publishes a departmental cut-off, screening details or a new accreditation result.
