The Caritas University cut-off mark for Electrical and Electronics Engineering is 150 in the UTME, because that is JAMB’s 2026 minimum for every university. Caritas’s admissions page still says applicants with 140 and above may apply, but an admission below 150 cannot pass through CAPS. Caritas has not published a separate figure for Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and it does not set a written Post-UTME test.
2027/2028 update: Caritas University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
The course goes by three slightly different names, and it helps to know them. JAMB lists it for Caritas as Electrical / Electronics Engineering, Caritas calls it Electrical Electronics Engineering in its Faculty of Engineering, and the NUC records it as Electronic and Electrical Engineering with Full accreditation maturing in 2027. They are the same programme. On JAMB, pick the Electrical / Electronics Engineering option under Caritas. This guide covers the subjects, O’level and Direct Entry rules, screening, a safe target and the CAPS steps.

Caritas Electrical and Electronics Engineering cut-off mark history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 140 and above | Caritas’s stated minimum for all applicants | Official Caritas admissions page, read 30 October 2026 |
| 2026/2027 | 150 | JAMB minimum for all universities | Official (JAMB policy meeting, 11 May 2026) |
| 2025/2026 (as titled) | 140 | Caritas admission notice signed by the Registrar, M. I. Onwuka | Official, but the text is carried over from older years |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | JAMB minimum for universities | Reported by Nairametrics, 8 July 2025 |
The notice titled for 2025/2026 still refers to the “2019 JAMB UTME” and a closing date of 15 February 2025, so it is old text that Caritas keeps reposting. I use it only for two points that have stayed constant: the 140 figure and the statement that there is no Post-UTME screening test. Blogs such as O3schools (January 2026) and Studentship repeat both points.
ESUT, the nearest public option, named Electrical/Electronic Engineering at 180 for 2026/2027. Caritas is far below that because it has no test and admits any qualified candidate from JAMB’s floor, which makes it the realistic Enugu choice for many candidates between 150 and 179.
Score warning
Caritas’s admissions page still says candidates with 140 and above can apply. JAMB’s 2026 minimum for every university is 150, and JAMB has said admissions outside CAPS are illegal, so a UTME score from 140 to 149 cannot give you a valid Caritas admission. Do not pay any agent who promises to “process” one.
Safe target score for Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Caritas (my advice)
ESUT set 180 for this course in 2026/2027, above its general 160, which tells you how much demand there is in Enugu. Caritas has not raised its figure, but I would still treat a weak score as a bad sign for this course. Circuit theory, electromagnetic fields and signals all lean on the Mathematics and Physics the UTME tests.
| Your UTME score | My read for Caritas Electrical and Electronics Engineering |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible through UTME this session |
| 150 to 179 | Eligible at Caritas; ESUT’s 180 is out of reach |
| 180 to 209 | Comfortable at Caritas; ESUT is possible too |
| 210 and above | Strong across Enugu’s universities |
I would aim for 180 or more. That is comfortable for Caritas and also matches ESUT’s line if you later change your mind.
UTME subject combination and O’level for Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Caritas
Caritas appears in both the UTME and O’level remarks of JAMB’s Electrical / Electronics Engineering entry. It is not named under Direct Entry, so the general Direct Entry line applies.
| Requirement | Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Caritas |
|---|---|
| JAMB course name | Electrical / Electronics Engineering (Caritas University) |
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry |
| O’level (Caritas remark) | Five credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and another science subject |
| O’level (Caritas Faculty of Engineering) | English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Agricultural Science |
| Sittings | Not more than two; WAEC, NECO and NABTEB can be combined |
| Direct Entry (general rule) | Two A-level passes in Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry |
| Awaiting result | Allowed if the result is out by resumption |
Choosing your fifth O’level subject
The JAMB remark accepts any other science. Caritas’s faculty list says Biology or Agricultural Science. If you have both lists covered, there is nothing to resolve. If your only fifth science is Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing or Basic Electronics, ask the admissions office whether it will be accepted, and keep the answer in writing.
Direct Entry with A-level, ND or HND
JAMB’s general Direct Entry rule for this course is two A-level passes in Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry. Many universities add ND and HND routes in their own remarks; Caritas has none in this entry, so its position on ND and HND holders is not published. If you hold an ND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, ask Caritas directly whether it admits ND holders into 200 level for 2027/2028. Caritas’s JUPEB programme is another route worth asking about.
How Caritas screens Electrical and Electronics Engineering applicants
| Detail | What is known for 2026/2027 |
|---|---|
| Advert | “Admission ongoing for 2026/2027 session” on the Caritas admissions page |
| Who can apply | Candidates with 140 and above, first choice or not (150 in practice) |
| Written Post-UTME test | None, according to Caritas’s admission notice |
| Form fee, closing date, aggregate | Not published |
| Fees | Described as revised; no amounts published |
Caritas has reposted the same notice with old dates for several sessions, so the no-test statement describes the usual practice. Watch the admissions page for any change before 2027/2028 forms open.
Worked example
These figures are illustrative. With no aggregate published, the checks are the floor, my target and the O’level.
Chukwuemeka scored 168 with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and has C4 in English, B3 in Mathematics, C5 in Physics, C6 in Chemistry and B3 in Biology from one NECO sitting.
- JAMB floor: 168 minus 150 = 18. Eligible.
- Against ESUT’s 180: 12 short, so ESUT is not open to him for this course.
- Against my target: 168 minus 180 = minus 12. Below my comfort line, but still admissible at Caritas.
- O’level: all five credits Caritas names. He qualifies.
- My advice: apply to Caritas early, and do a JAMB change of institution if ESUT is still his first choice, since a first choice that cannot admit him wastes time on CAPS.
Compare Chiamaka, who scored 204 but has a D7 in Physics. Her UTME score is excellent, but without a Physics credit she does not meet the O’level rule at Caritas or anywhere else for this course. She needs to sit WAEC or NECO again and get the credit before CAPS can clear her.
Admission odds and advice
- Your subjects decide it: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in the UTME, plus Physics and Mathematics credits, with no substitutes.
- Caritas is the practical choice for 150 to 179 in Enugu if ESUT’s 180 is beyond you.
- Make Caritas your first choice on JAMB so CAPS can process your admission without delay.
- Know the 2026/2027 date: JAMB’s admission window for private universities runs until 30 November 2026 for the current session.
- Ask about the power and electronics labs and where students do SIWES before you accept.

How to apply for Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Caritas, step by step
- Profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line registered with your NIN, then use the code to register.
- UTME registration: choose Caritas University and “Electrical / Electronics Engineering”, and write Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
- O’level on CAPS: upload your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result at a JAMB-accredited centre as soon as it is out. CAPS cannot show you to Caritas without it.
- Caritas application: go to the admissions page on caritasuni.edu.ng, use the application link or the “Contact admissions” option, and apply for Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Caritas has not published the 2026/2027 form price, so pay only the amount the official portal shows and keep the receipt.
- Screening: there is no written Post-UTME test on record. Expect Caritas to check your UTME score, subjects and O’level, and bring originals if you are called for document screening.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer once it appears. Our JAMB CAPS guide shows every screen.
- Acceptance and school fees: Caritas says its fees were revised but publishes no amounts. Pay only into the account on your official Caritas invoice, then print your JAMB admission letter.
Studying Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Caritas University
Accreditation
- NUC: the NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 publication (September 2026) lists Caritas’s Electronic and Electrical Engineering with an early Interim result followed by three Full results, and a maturity date of 2027. Full accreditation lasts five years, so the next NUC visit falls due around the time 2027 entrants start. Ask the department whether it has happened and the outcome.
- COREN: I found no COREN accreditation report naming Caritas. COREN accreditation is not confirmed here, so ask the department for its letter before you pay.
Degree, duration and what you study
Caritas awards a B.Eng. Nigerian B.Eng. degrees take five years from 100 level, and Caritas has not published a different length. The usual pattern:
- Foundation years: engineering mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering drawing, workshop practice, applied mechanics and introductory programming.
- Core courses: circuit theory, electronic devices and circuits, electrical machines, electromagnetic fields, measurements and instrumentation, signals and systems, and digital electronics.
- Industrial training: SIWES placements with electricity distribution companies, power stations, telecom firms, manufacturing plants or electrical contractors.
- Final year: options such as power systems and protection, power electronics, communication engineering or control, plus a design project and a research project.
Careers
Graduates work in power generation, transmission and distribution, telecommunications, building services and electrical installation, manufacturing maintenance, oil and gas instrumentation, renewable energy and solar installation, and electronics design. Professional practice as an electrical engineer in Nigeria goes through COREN registration.

Mistakes that cost Electrical and Electronics Engineering applicants a Caritas place
- Relying on Caritas’s 140: JAMB’s floor of 150 applies.
- Choosing the wrong JAMB option: pick Electrical / Electronics Engineering under Caritas University, not a polytechnic course with “Technology” in the name.
- Missing a Physics or Chemistry credit: both are in the Caritas remark.
- Registering for Direct Entry with an ND without asking first: Caritas has not published its ND position for this course.
- Skipping the O’level upload: CAPS needs it before any offer.
