ADSU Public Administration Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Requirements

ADSU’s official cut-off for Public Administration is 150 for 2027/2028 planning. See the history, a safe target, JAMB subjects, the ADSU Direct Entry remark, screening and CAPS steps.

The ADSU cut off mark for Public Administration is 150 in the UTME. Adamawa State University, Mubi printed that figure in its approved programme cut-off marks for the 2026/2027 session (Office of the Registrar, June 2026), and it was also 150 in 2025/2026. It matches JAMB’s national minimum for universities.

2027/2028 update: ADSU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Public Administration is one of ADSU’s oldest departments. Its own page says it was established in 2002, when the university opened, and it now runs a B.Sc. alongside postgraduate programmes. Below you will find the official figures, my safe target score, the JAMB subject rules (including an ADSU-specific Direct Entry remark), how screening ran, a worked example, the CAPS steps and where the degree leads.

The 150 is ADSU’s own published figure. Public Administration is popular with candidates who want a civil service or local government career, so expect more competition here than the floor figure suggests.

The figure has not moved across the two sessions I could check. ADSU raised Business Administration from 150 to 160 over the same period but left Public Administration on the floor.

Where Public Administration sits on ADSU’s 2026/2027 list

ADSU published four tiers for 2026/2027. Most courses sit on the national floor of 150; a handful were pushed higher because demand for them is heavier.

ADSU 2026/2027 cut-offProgrammes on that tier
230 (Adamawa indigenes) / 260 (non-indigenes)Common Law and Sharia
170Biochemistry, Microbiology, Computer Science
160Animal Production, Cyber Security, Business Administration, Mass Communication
150Every other programme on the list, across Agriculture, Arts, Education, Environmental Science, Science and Computing, Administration and Management Sciences, and Social Sciences

Public Administration is on the 150 tier with the other management courses except Business Administration (160). Political Science, in the Social Sciences faculty, is also 150 and accepts a very similar subject combination.

Safe target score for Public Administration at ADSU (my advice)

Clearing the cut-off puts you in the screening pool, and ADSU then admits from that pool by merit. ADSU does not publish the score of the last candidate admitted into each course, so the table below is my judgement as an admissions adviser, not an ADSU rule.

Your UTME scoreMy read for ADSU Public Administration
Below 150Not eligible for any ADSU course this session
150 to 164Eligible. A place depends on your O’level grades and how many people applied
165 to 179A reasonable chance if your O’level is clean
180 and aboveComfortable. This is the range I would aim for

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 180, with credits in English, Mathematics, Economics and Government.

Catchment and state of origin

ADSU has not published a catchment quota for Public Administration. The only state-of-origin rule on its 2026/2027 list is in Law. Adamawa candidates make up much of the pool at a state university, but applicants from any state who meet 150 can apply.

UTME subject combination and O’level for ADSU Public Administration

RequirementPublic Administration at ADSU
UTME subjectsUse of English plus Government, Economics and any other subject (JAMB brochure, as reprinted by Myschool)
O’level (JAMB brochure)Five credits including English Language, Economics and Government (NBC holders may substitute relevant commercial subjects)
O’level (ADSU 2026/2027 notice)Five credits including English Language and Mathematics, for every course
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO or NABTEB (JAMB’s usual list; ADSU’s notice did not name the bodies in the reprint I read)
SittingsNot stated in the reprint of ADSU’s notice; most Nigerian universities accept two sittings, but one sitting is safer
Direct EntryTwo A-level passes chosen from Economics, Accounting, Business Management, Government, Geography and Statistics. The brochure adds an ADSU remark: ADSU accepts HND, ND or NCE at credit or merit level in appropriate programmes or subjects.

Government and Economics are fixed in the UTME. For the fourth subject, Mathematics, Literature in English, Geography or CRS/IRS all work; I would pick Mathematics or Geography if you also want Political Science or Economics to stay open.

The brochure’s O’level line does not name Mathematics, but ADSU’s own 2026/2027 notice asked every candidate for credits in English and Mathematics. Treat the Mathematics credit as compulsory.

The ADSU Direct Entry remark matters if you hold an ND or HND in Public Administration or a related field from a polytechnic: ADSU says it accepts those at credit or merit level.

How ADSU screening worked for Public Administration in 2026/2027

ADSU ran one online screening exercise for UTME and Direct Entry candidates in 2026/2027. The notice, as reprinted by Myschool on 12 June 2026 and by Androidpols on 15 June 2026, described an online screening and did not announce a written test.

Worked example for a Public Administration candidate

ADSU has not published an aggregate formula, and with no announced test there is no Post-UTME score to combine with your UTME. What you can work out is the gap between your score, the official minimum and a safe target. The figures below are illustrative.

Take Suleiman, who scored 176 and has B3 in English, C4 in Mathematics, B2 in Economics, B3 in Government and C5 in Geography from one sitting.

  1. Eligibility: 176 minus 150 = 26. He clears the minimum by 26 marks.
  2. Against my safe target: 180 minus 176 = 4. He is 4 marks below the score I would call safe.
  3. O’level check: credits in English, Mathematics, Economics and Government. Nothing rules him out.
  4. What I would advise: keep Public Administration, and if ADSU offers Political Science on CAPS, think hard before rejecting it.

Saadatu holds an ND in Public Administration with an upper credit and two O’level sittings. She is a Direct Entry candidate. The brochure’s ADSU remark says ADSU accepts ND at credit level, so she should register for Direct Entry with ADSU as her choice and complete the ADSU screening form when it opens.

How to apply for Public Administration at ADSU, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME with ADSU as first choice: choose Public Administration as your course, with Use of English plus Government, Economics and one other subject. If ADSU was not your first choice, do a JAMB change of institution before the screening opens.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: go to a JAMB-accredited centre and have your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result uploaded. Without it, CAPS cannot match you to the five-credit rule.
  4. Fill the ADSU screening form: on adsu.edu.ng, click the Post UTME link and fill in your details. In 2026/2027 this was open from 15 June to 30 October.
  5. Pay the ₦2,000 screening fee: that was the 2026/2027 amount. Pay only through the method the portal gives you, and keep the receipt.
  6. Save your confirmation: print or save whatever the portal gives you after payment, and keep it with your JAMB result slip and O’level results.
  7. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Accept the offer if you want it. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  8. Pay acceptance and clear at ADSU: ADSU has not published its acceptance fee in any source I reached, so confirm the amount on the portal or at the Admissions Office before you pay.

Warning

Every genuine ADSU offer shows on JAMB CAPS. ADSU’s screening needed only the portal form and the fee stated by the university, so do not pay anyone who promises a place in Public Administration or a “special list”.

JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for public universities; that date has now passed. If you applied to ADSU this year, check JAMB CAPS and the ADSU portal for your admission status. If you did not get in, plan for the 2027 UTME and read when JAMB 2027 registration starts.

Studying Public Administration at ADSU

ADSU’s department page says Public Administration was established in 2002, at the inception of the university. It lists a B.Sc. in Public Administration and postgraduate awards (PGDPA, MPA, M.Sc. and PhD), and mentions a sandwich programme. The page does not state the B.Sc. duration; four years for UTME entrants is the Nigerian norm.

What you study

  • Foundations: elements of public administration, government, economics, sociology and statistics.
  • Core courses: Nigerian public administration, local government administration, public personnel management and public finance.
  • Policy: public policy analysis, administrative law, comparative public administration and development administration.
  • Practice: industrial attachment in a ministry, agency or local government, and a final-year project.

Accreditation

I found no NUC accreditation report for ADSU’s Public Administration programme, so its status is not confirmed. The department has run since 2002 and offers postgraduate degrees, which usually requires an established undergraduate programme. Ask the department for its current NUC status if it matters to you.

Careers

Graduates go into the federal and state civil service, local government administration, electoral and census bodies, NGOs and development agencies, and the administrative arms of hospitals, universities and banks. ADSU’s MPA and PGDPA give a direct path to postgraduate study at the same department.

For UTME revision, start with our JAMB Government syllabus and JAMB Economics syllabus.

Mistakes that cost Public Administration applicants an ADSU place

  • Leaving out Government or Economics: both are named in the JAMB brochure’s UTME line for Public Administration.
  • Reading the cut-off as an admission score: it only lets you into the screening pool.
  • No credit in Mathematics: ADSU’s 2026/2027 notice asked every candidate for credits in English and Mathematics.
  • O’level not uploaded to CAPS: the screening cannot match you to the five-credit rule without it.
  • ADSU not first choice: the notice told other candidates to change their first choice to ADSU on JAMB’s website.
  • Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: acceptance fee payment and clearance at ADSU are separate steps.
